Carolina Rookie Report
1st Round, Pick 8: Jaycee Horn
Jaycee Horn has been playing really well so far this season despite his place on the depth chart. He leads the team in picks and deflections and is tied for 2nd in the league among rookie CB’s in picks and is tied for first in deflections among the group as well. Panthers DB coach has said “Having such great vets in front of him ahas allowed him to grow as a player without the pressure of matching up against #1 WRs.” The way Horn is playing right now, he’s going to be special sooner rather than later, a true star in the making.
2nd round, Pick 59: Terrace Marshall
Terrace Marshall has had a solid start to his rookie campaign with 15 catches for 217 yards and 4 TD’s. He’s really excelled as a red zone threat with his 6’3” 200 pound frame. He was thrown into the fire as WR2 after the shocking trade of Robby Anderson early in the season. As the season goes on, he’ll continue to become more comfortable and make bigger plays for this team between the 20’s. Watch out for him as the season gets going and he has more of a chance to shine as DJ gets more attention.
3rd round, Pick 70: Brady Christensen
Christensen is currently starting at RT and has had some growing pains thus far allowing 2 sacks through 5 games, but is showing a lot of promise on 204 snaps. The offense has struggled a bit on the ground with him not being a great run blocker but that’ll come with the experience he’s getting. His footwork in pass blocking has been solid and he hasn’t allowed many pressures. As the season goes on he’ll continue to get better as he gets more acclimated to the NFL game.
4th Round, Pick 126: Chuba Hubbard
Chuba Hubbard hasn’t had much to ride home about just yet, he’s only gotten 2 carries and has -1 yards on the ground to go along with 1 catch for 5 yards. As the season goes on look for him to be involved more in the offense and hopefully we see the explosive plays we saw from him at Oklahoma State.
5th Round, Pick 158: Daviyon Nixon
Daviyon was thrown into a DT1 role without any expectations as he replaced Derrick Brown after he broke his ribs. He has played serviceable but it is very apparent he still needs time to grow. He’s gotten 3 TFL’s with no sacks just yet. Missing some of the best players in this front 7 probably play a big role but with Brian Burns coming back in a couple of weeks and Derrick Brown coming back the week after, he should get back to DT2 and have a bette chance at continuing to get better.
5th Round Pick, Pick 166: Keith Taylor
Taylor hasn’t gotten the chance to contribute at all yet although he managed to make the 53 man roster. As he continues to improve maybe he can be the tall physical corner that this team plays in spots similar to Bouye currently.
6th Round Pick, Pick 193: Deonte Brown
Brown has been exactly what we knew he’d be, very effective in the power run game. Brown is a strong physical guard that needs to continue to develop. He has done well so far against DT’s like Quinnen Williams and Fletcher Cox. Hopefully he’ll get better but he’s been serviceable to this point.
6th Round, Pick 204: Shi Smith
Smith has been one of the better rookie WR’s to this point in the season ranking 3rd in Yards and also having 3 TD’s to go along with it. With his production he has proven to be a great value pick with 162 YAC yards and all of this on only 13 catches. Smith is big time playmaker in this offense and has done well in the slot. He’ll continue to make waves as long as he’s getting his touches. He also only has 1 drop to this point so we’ll see as the season unfolds if he can keep up the production and if so, watch out because we may have a star in the making.
6th Round, Pick 222: Thomas Fletcher
Was cut with Stephen Sullivan becoming the long snapper
7th Round, Pick 232: Phil Hoskins
Made the practice squad due to the depth in front of him, just not enough room on the roster for him.
AMLoB Season 31 MVP Candidates
With us being a little over halfway through the season there have been some strong MVP candidates to emerge from the rest of the league. They have put their teams on their back and elevated their play to potentially grab the very coveted honor. More QB’s than usual on the list so let’s see where they rank.
Derrick Henry, HB/TEN: Derrick Henry has been as good as it gets this season putting up another eye popping campaign. Henry in 9 games has put up 1,685 total yards and 17 total TD’s. En route to a 8-1 record, Henry has been a huge piece but not the only one for this team (stay tuned). Look for Henry to finish the season strong and capture yet another MVP with his dominant performance at the RB position.
1,438 Rush Yd./ 7.8 YPC/ 13 Rush TD/ 247 Rec. Yd./ 4 Rec. TD
Ezekiel Elliott, HB/DAL: Elliott has gotten himself back to one of the top performing backs in the league taking the Cowboys to a 8-1 record. Zeke has 1,400 total yards on the year and 15 rushing TD’s. He has been a huge boost for this offense and has really helped out young QB Alex Sawicki as this team has shown to be strong this season. With a top ranked defense aided from the ball control exhibited from Zeke this could be another special season for him.
1,169 Rush Yd./ 7.0 YPC/ 15 Rush TD/ 231 Rec. Yd.
Jordan Love, QB/CAR: Love has been purely efficient this season. On pace for an even better season than his 1st (Last year) in Carolina. Love has 33 total TD’s to only 8 INT’s this season and he’s top 10 in PYPG. Helping guide the Panthers to a 7-2 record, Love looks to continue to make plays and keep up the efficiency that eluded him last season. If he keeps this up he could have a solid chance at MVP.
76.4 Comp. %./ 2,479 Pass Yd./ 27 Pass TD/ 8 INT/ 90 Rush Yd./ 6 Rush TD
Chad Hargrave, QB/TEN: As I said earlier to stay tuned. Hargrave in his 2nd season has taken another leap to catapult into the MVP convo. He is on pace to shatter his passing numbers from last year as he has been the other huge reason the Titans are 8-1. Hargrave has proven he’s more than just a game manager and is a QB that can lead this team to victory even if King Henry is struggling. Already with a AFC title as a rookie, look for him to help this team try and reach that pinnacle again and maybe come away with a Super Bowl title.
72.7 Comp. %./ 2,481 Pass Yd./ 26 Pass TD/ 15 INT/ 36 Rush Yd./ 3 Rush TD
Joe Kingman, QB/CHI: Kingman has taken a hot finish from the season last year to a great performance at this point through 9 games. Coming in with high expectations being the 3rd overall pick in last year’s draft came with lofty expectations as he was projected to be a superstar stepping in. Well he has lived up to the hype this season with 24 total TD’s and being one of the top passers in the league. He has the time clicking right now with a 6-3 record and in playoff contention. Look for him to finish the season strong and stay in the race.
64.9 Comp. %./ 2,770 Pass Yd./ 23 Pass TD/ 12 INT/ 36 Rush Yd./ 1 Rush TD
With the 3rd season of the cycle underway and our 30th season overall, there have been quite a few standouts in the first quarter of the season. So we will have a top 5 and talk a bit more about what’s going on with those players as they’ve put up NUMBERS through 4 games.
Derrick Henry, TEN HB- Henry has put on a show once again for the league. Averaging an absurd 9.6 yards per carry, Henry has just dominated the competition and makes a push for arguably the most impressive player of the cycle. He has 655 rushing yards and 10 TD’s through 4 games and although he’s not the receiving threat like some other backs he has the ability to take over games. He has the Titans comfortably at 4-0 and on track to 3 peat for the first time in AMLoB history.
DeMar Griffin, CIN HB- Although there’s been scrutiny about his workload as he’s gotten a lot of touches early in his career, Griffin has proven to be one of the most productive backs we’ve seen this early. Already sweeping awards his rookie year he came back with even more of a vengeance averaging 7.4 yards per carry and 735 total yards with 10 total TD’s. The Bengals are sitting at 4-0 in large part because of his play.
D.J. Chark, JAX WR- At WR there isn’t anyone who’s been playing the position better than Chark this season. Having a massive breakout season, he’s put up 600 receiving yards and 7 TD’s through 4 games. Chark has always been the favorite target for Minshew but with his new deal he’s showing why he’s deserving of the big extension. The Jags are 3-1 and Chark is a big reason as to why. Look for him to keep up this pace and if so lookout for this Jags passing attack.
Jonathan Taylor, IND HB- 678 total yards and 7 TD’s has Taylor looking like a premier back in this league. He’s been playing like an elite back and the whole league knows it. The Colts may be 2-2 but with their opponents having a combined 2 losses I’d say he has more in store the rest of the season. Taylor takes pressure off of young QB Wilson which has helped his development a ton so as long as he’s productive like this this team can be very good.
Gardner Minshew, JAX QB- Playing some of the most efficient football you’ll see, Minshew has been on a tear with him due to be paid. 12 TD’s and 4 INT’s on the season with a 135.5 QB rating and 1,021 pass yards has Minshew looking like a monster this season. He has gone wild with the guy mentioned above as him and Chark have been putting up numbers. With Minshew playing at this level it explains why this team is 3-1 and why they can look towards being a threat in the AFC.
A quarter of the way through the season the Panthers sit at 2-2. And with a couple of new faces playing vital roles this team looks to improve as we go deeper into the season. As we breakdown each side of the ball by position group it’ll be more evident as to what this team is currently and what they have potential to be later.
QB: With the new acquisition of Jordan Love in the offseason this Panthers fan base was excited about getting their QB of the future. The fans are still excited about what this offense can become with him but the struggles have been costly early, the constant turnovers have lost a couple of games for this team and although he’s made great plays he needs to clean up the mistakes. Look for that to be a sticking point for this coaching staff as the season goes on. Love gives this team a chance to be special on offense with his arm talent and elite weapons around him, but he definitely has to be better.
RB: CMC has done a solid job through 4 games with 522 total yards and 3 rushing TD’s. He’s been the most consistent player in this offense for years and looks to continue that trend. CMC with his punch on the ground and in the pass game makes him a lethal threat out of the backfield. Montague hasn’t gotten as many touches as last year early but he’s been effective whenever he has got the ball. 4 touches for 89 yards. Look for him to be more involved as the season progresses.
WR/TE: This group has been very impressive with how they’ve played this season. No drops through 4 games and they show the elite talent they have consistently displayed these last couple seasons. Samuel is putting up huge numbers and as a whole this team has 3 guys on pace for 1,000+ receiving yards this season. Andrews being one of those guys has been great so far this season and looks to continue that.
OL: The OL has been solid but definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Taylor Moton is the biggest reason for this feeling about the group. He’s given up 6 sacks already compared to just 3 last year and 11 total the last two seasons combined. This group has done a pretty decent job blocking for the ground game but they have to be better as a whole for this team to succeed.
DL: The front 4 for this team has been special so far tallying up countless pressures and getting home a bit on sacks. Derrick Brown has been a beast with 5 TFL’s and 5 sacks along with being tied to lead the team in tackles. Burns has also been a menace with 6 sacks already and 2 TFL’s. YGM has been solid forcing pressure opposite of Burns and Short gives this front a veteran presence.
LB: This group has been the Achilles heel of this defense and this team in terms of play and talent level. The addition of Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles has been great, but this group still leaves a lot to be desired outside of Shaq Thompson. In pass coverage they actually do pretty well getting deflections and picks but they struggle mightily against the run. This coach has to teach run fits better because it will continue to plague this team and be their downfall on this side of the ball.
DB: The secondary has been really good, led by Donte Jackson who has been the most important player to this group. Troy Pride has held his own so far this season after a good season last year. The addition of Hayward Jr. has proven to be vital as a depth piece and given this team more experience to replace the production of Eli Apple. Chinn, Hartsfield and Robinson have been a great trio with Chinn constantly showing his versatility playing in many different spots for this team and making plays at all of them.
Outlook: This team has shown really bright spots and really bad ones as well. Once this team gels together on offense with new QB Jordan Love, this team can really take off. Getting the turnovers under control is a major sticking point especially coming from the previous QB tenure where protecting the ball was vital. The defense should be fine, they just have to work on stopping the run and keep their gap integrity especially with the front 4 and secondary playing like they are.
AMLoB All-Pro 1st Team Defense
EDGE:
Cameron Jordan, (NO): Cam Jordan, was a different type of beast off the edge this cycle. He could dominate any T he was matched up against and take over games for a defense that was just as stellar elsewhere. Being the main cog in the machine that bought 3 SB titles along the way. Averaging almost 29 sacks a season, he put fear in opposing offenses from the jump and earned the honor of the most dominant edge this cycle.
401 Total Tackles, 62 TFL’s, 173.5 Sacks, 14 FF, 2 Def. TD’s
Josh Allen, (JAX): Allen came through the cycle and ended up with the 2nd most sacks. The man just wrecked shop down there for the Jags. Coming through with an average just above 26 sacks per season gets Allen to this point on the list. The Jags defense was suffocatingly good as can be seen by the consistent numbers they had. Allen off the edge was a huge reason for that and he was an amazing player to watch this cycle.
452 Total Tackles, 89 TFL’s, 183.5 Sacks, 11 FF’s, 1 Def. TD
Brian Burns, (CAR): Brian Burns was a great piece in the Carolina defense this cycle. His speed off the edge proved to be tough for almost any T. Where Burns really shined was his ability to take the ball away with forcing fumbles (18 FF’s) and also scoring TD’s when the ball was in his hand (5). Burns was really impressive in a defense that was typically near the top in pass defense.
441 Total Tackles, 101 TFL’s, 157.5 Sacks, 18 FF’s, 5 Def. TD’s
Demarcus Lawrence, (DAL): Lawrence was the top sack getter at edge of the cycle as he was beating everyone off the edge. While not the run stuffer most guys on the list were, he played at a very high level which earned him a 1st team AP nod. He was definitely the best part of the Cowboys defense and consistently proved just why he is considered an elite edge. Masterful skill in getting to the QB.
406 Total Tackles, 54 TFL’s, 194 Sacks, 11 FF’s, 0 Def. TD’s
Von Miller, (DEN/NYG): The do it all edge that produced for both teams he played for falls here. Von Miller was near the top in almost everything except for FF’s and Def. TD’s. His production is one that garnered attention throughout the cycle and got him to a 1st team selection this cycle. With abilities like his being a premium at a really tough position to find your way to this spot, it is much deserved and Von was appreciated through the cycle by both squads.
485 Total Tackles, 100 TFL’s, 142.5 Sacks, 9 FF’s, 0 Def. TD’s
Khalil Mack, (CHI/KC): Although Mack was traded for a hefty price, it proved to be worth it for Chiefs as he led the defense en route to a SB appearance. That shows just how much of a monster Mack was and how he elevates a defense. Consistency was key as he continued to produce even with his skills regressing as the cycle went on. His run stopping ability was also top notch as shown in his TFL numbers.
466 Total Tackles, 104 TFL’s, 124 Sacks, 14 FF’s, 0 Def. TD’s
IDL:
Chris Jones, (KC/CAR): Jones was the top sack artist of the league and that’s coming from an interior position. Jones was so dominant throughout the cycle that he could flat out take over games from the defensive side of the ball. The offense was a turnover machine and Jones helped make an elite defense keep other squads in line.
479 Total Tackles, 83 TFL’s, 202.5 Sacks, 11 FF’s, 1 Def. TD
Aaron Donald, (LAR/DEN): Once again Donald is a All-Pro 1st Team interior guy, making him 3 for 3. Donald was much more of a hybrid player this cycle going from interior to edge and back quite a bit, a lot more than previous years. Donald was well rounded and played great in the defenses he was a part of. With his ability to produce on the edge and interior he was definitely one of the best pure front 4 players of the cycle.
456 Total Tackles, 99 TFL’s, 156 Sacks, 14 FF’s, 2 Def. TD’s
Tyson Pickett, (GB): Pickett had the ability to generate pressure everywhere form the interior whether that was at 3-4 DE, 4-3 DT or occasionally 3-4 NT. Pickett was one of the best interior defenders with his versatility and his ability to generate pressure. Also being a very solid run defender, Pickett has turned out to be one of the best players of the cycle and that’s why he’s recognized as a 1st Team Interior player.
298 Total Tackles, 68 TFL’s, 78.5 Sacks, 3 FF’s, 0 Def TD’s
OBB:
Sione Takitaki, (CLE): Takitaki was such a great piece to a loaded Browns defense. He was the man in the middle and everything revolves around his ability to make plays in the run game and the pass game. He could take away so much of the field and still come up and make stops when necessary. Versatility lands him here and gets him the edge as the top Off Ball Backer in the league for the cycle.
774 Total Tackles, 117 TFL’s, 28.5 Sacks, 15 FF’s, 52 INT’s, 40 PD’s, 15 Def. TD’s
Devin White, (TB): Although Devin White was just edged out he was as impressive as you could find with his all around play. In a defense that constantly found ways to make plays, White showed the rest of the defense the way. His athleticism at the position made it all possible but let’s not short sell his impact because he used that as a part of his arsenal to produce for the Bucs.
845 Total Tackles, 129 TFL’s, 17.5 Sacks, 10 FF’s, 41 INT’s, 61 PD’s, 10 Def. TD’s
Bumper Pool, (NO): Bumper Pool was another great player on the Saints defense. With a great showing stopping the run and an even more amazing ability to stop the pass, he made great waves. One of the lesser known pieces of the defense he was just as vital as anyone.
484 Total Tackles, 70 TFL’s, 16 Sacks, 3 FF’s, 24 INT’s, 61 PD’s, 3 TD’s
Front 7 Flex:
Joey Bosa, (LAC): Bosa was one of the more impressive DE’s this cycle and the stats show it. With him making plays wherever he lined up as a DE he put up numbers. An underrated run stopper to go with an excellent pass rusher shows throughout the cycle as he made that Chargers team great. Bosa even got them a SB appearance which shows what he meant to that team. Bosa aid a 3 time All-Pro member with his 2nd Straight 1st Team nod.
448 Total Tackles, 80 TFL’s, 183 Sacks, 9 FF’s, 2 Def. TD’s
CB:
Marshon Lattimore, (NO): Marshon was a true pick artist this cycle with his coverage. He often times locked up the other teams best WR and even when it’s thrown his way it seemed like he was coming down with it. Leading all CB’s in INT’s (63) he showed that he is the true definition of a lockdown CB. Making his 2nd All-Pro appearance, but his first 1st team nod, it is well deserved.
418 Total Tackles, 20 TFL’s, .5 Sack, 3 FF’s, 63 INT’s, 63 PD’s, 4 Def. TD’s
Denzel Ward, (CLE): Ward was as good as they come once again this cycle earning his 2nd straight 1st Team selection. Ward was not only excellent at picking the ball off but breaking up passes as well. Where Ward really shined was his ability to convert those picks into points. He was such a force and lockdown defender for a loaded Browns defense. With him shadowing and WR he had to guard and blanketing them, it gave this team an elite CB outside.
482 Total Tackles, 10 TFL’s, 4.5 Sacks, 4 FF’s, 49 INT’s, 84 PD’s, 13 Def. TD’s
Donte Jackson, (CAR): Donte coming in with his 2nd straight 1st Team appearance. Donte was great at taking the ball away and converting it into points. He was the CB1 for a Panthers team that was consistently near the top in pass defense. Breaking up passes, along with his ability to take the ball away, and his ability to score made Donte hard to turn down on this list.
473 Total Tackles, 22 TFL’s, 4 Sacks, 0 FF’s, 51 INT’s, 95 PD’s, 12 Def. TD’s
Chris Westry, (NO): Westry is the 2nd Saints CB on the list and for good reason. His size along with his athleticism made him a terror in the slot and on the boundary at CB. In a short span he racked up great numbers between picks, deflections and scores. Westry deserved to be selected and got the 1st team nod because his play made it happen.
438 Total Tackles, 28 TFL’s, 3 Sacks, 0 FF’s, 54 INT’s, 95 PD’s, 7 Def. TD’s
S:
Derwin James, (LAC): Mr. Enforcer himself gets the 1st Team nod after being 2nd team last cycle. Derwin was someone to watch out for when you’ve got the ball in your hands as he was a fumble forcing machine. Not only was he a great run stopper and game changer with forcing fumbles, he also forced turnovers in the pass game as well and pass breakups.
543 Total Tackles, 31 TFL’s, 6.5 Sacks, 37 FF’s, 26 INT’s, 64 PD’s, 3 Def. TD’s
Jabrill Peppers, (NYG/OAK): Jabrill was a playmaker in each facet of the game. He made plays run stuffing as well as stopping the pass. With Peppers playing for two different franchises he made his biggest impact as a Raider and it can be shown in the stats. He meant so much to that defense as they were fast and aggressive at all times.
555 Total Tackles, 25 TFL’s, 13.5 Sacks, 15 FF’s, 31 INT’s, 82 PD’s, 2 Def. TD’s
Neji Taylor, (TB): Neji was a freakish athlete at S and used that to his advantage all cycle. He closed ground to rack up TFL’s at the rate of some front 7 players and make plays in the air putting up ridiculous pick numbers. Combine his athleticism with his ability to find the ball/ball carrier and you have one of the best at his position this CFM.
527 Total Tackles, 53 TFL’s, 2 Sacks, 6 FF’s, 55 INT’s, 51 PD’s, 11 Def. TD’s
Marcus Williams, (NO): I believe we see a trend here with another Saints defender on the list. Marcus Williams gets his 3 straight 1st Team appearance and it’s well deserved. He was one of the top S’s this cycle at disrupting the pass and did some solid run stuffing in the process. This Saints defense has so much talent and Marcus is another one of those great guys for that team.
538 Total Tackles, 36 TFL’s, 3.5 Sacks, 3 FF’s, 39 INT’s, 74 PD’s, 7 Def. TD’s
DB Flex:
Jalen Ramsey, (JAX): To no one’s surprise Jalen Ramsey is also a 3 time 1st Team Selection. Ramsey is just a beast and suffocates whoever he is guarding, so much to the point people don’t even try him. Ramsey may not have put up the numbers other CB’s did, but that’s because people just left him alone. He took away a half of the field every time the Jags defense was out there.
414 Total Tackles, 26 TFL’s, 0 Sacks, 1 FF, 26 INT’s, 103 PD’s, 3 Def. TD’s
Juan Thornhill, (KC): Thornhill might be one of the more quiet 1st team selections but he balled. He was a main reason why the secondary in KC worked this cycle. His athleticism combined with the scheme made for a tough time for opponents.
568 Total Tackles, 38 TFL’s, 4 Sacks, 3 FF’s, 30 INT’s, 80 PD’s, 7 Def. TD’s

QB:
Patrick Mahomes, (KC): Mahomes came through playing like the player he was expected to be this cycle between his passing totals (30,451 yards) and an impressive MVP campaign in the final season of the cycle where he threw 54 TD’s with another 4 on the ground. While he wasn’t able to capture that elusive SB title, which is the only real downfall to his play, he managed to be one of the top QB’s of the cycle edging out Motl for QB1 on AP1.
30,451 Pass Yards, 66.42 Comp. %, 270 Pass TD’s, 183 INT’s
Blake Motl, (NO): When you think of just impact to a team off of his presence, Blake Motl comes to mind. Being drafted where most thought he was a reach, he turned out to easily be one of the most impressive QB’s of the cycle. 2 SB titles and an average of 4,521 passing yards per season to go along with 35 passing TD’s are great numbers. Not to mention the numerous times he garnered MVP consideration, but he took the legacy of Brees and enhanced this team.
22,605 Pass Yards, 67.87 Comp. %, 176 Pass TD’s, 138 INT’s
Josh Rosen, (MIA): Despite being a “what if” type of player, Rosen had a good enough cycle to land him on the 1st team. A coaching change mid way through, after a SB title from the surprise Dolphins, he played a huge role in the successes of that franchise. The pace from the first 4 seasons were so good that he probably could’ve finished as the QB1 with the efficient nature of his game with his worst QBR being 112.6. Rosen elevated his teammates and this franchise out of AMLoB obscurity to a SB champion and that cannot be denied.
29,065 Pass Yards, 67.58 Comp. %, 231 Pass TD’s, 153 INT’s
HB:
Derrius Guice, (WAS): When dominance on the ground is brought up, there is no one better than Guice. He ripped AMLoB defenses to shreds on the ground with his amazing 6.68 YPC. Rushing his way to 2 MVP’s, Derrius Guice has been amazing the whole cycle and healthy in that span as well. While not the receiving threat some other guys on the list are, he still made plays there and he’s a physical runner and when you’re a punishing runner like he is then you can just continue to get it done on the ground.
11,712 Rush Yards, 6.68 YPC, 99 Rush TD’s, 2,685 Rec. Yards, 16 Rec. TD’s
Saquon Barkley, (NYG): Saquon is easily one the best players of the cycle with his great play on the ground (most total rushing yards) and in the air (565 rec. yards/season). Barkley made play after play after play when he was called upon and helped make things easier on offense for the Giants. As it’s known, AMLoB is dominated by HB’s and Saquon embodied everything you want to see from your primary HB. Being one of the best all around players in the game shows his immense value and why he’s slated as a AP 1st teamer for the 2nd time in a row.
11,712 Rush Yards, 6.42 YPC, 83 Rush TD’s, 3,959 Rec. Yards, 23 Rec. TD’s
Christian McCaffrey, (CAR): McCaffrey’s numbers don’t really pop out to you until you actually look at them. He averaged 1,691 total yards/year this cycle along with 12 total TD’s. Getting it done in the pass game and on the ground for the Panthers is all CMC did. This didn’t lead to the ultimate success of the Panthers this cycle but he was a part of a very explosive offense. In another AMLoB cycle dominated by HB’s, CMC was one of the top players of the cycle at the position.
8,655 Rush Yards, 5.54 YPC, 70 Rush TD’s, 3,185 Rec. Yards, 17 Rec. TD’s
FB:
Cullen Gillaspia, (HOU/OAK): Yes, the FB’s get love too! It’s much deserved with Gillaspia who was crushing it with the Texans scoring 13 rushing TD’s in his time there and in his one season in Oakland blocked for one of the better young RB’s in the league during the campaign.
WR:
Tyreek Hill, (KC): Tyreek with his defense breaking speed made this an easy choice for being the top WR of the cycle. Putting up an absurd amount of rec. TD’s in the process, he was just dominant as the primary guy. Only averaging less than 20 YPC twice he really put on a show with the ball in his hands. Tyreek’s influence also makes defenses play differently which adds to his value being the fastest player in the league. The main piece in a dynamic offense for the Chiefs gets him this recognition. Appearance number 2 for Tyreek as a 1st team AP member.
10,193 Rec. Yards, 474 Rec., 21.5 YPC, 103 Rec. TD’s
D.J. Moore, (CAR): Making his 2nd appearance as well being a 1st teamer we have D.J. Moore. Moore once again had a dominant cycle putting up numbers almost comparable to Tyreek. Being a part of a dynamic offense helped but D.J. Is a big reason why it was dynamic. He was as sure handed as they come as he led in catches for the cycle (514 rec.). When it comes to playmakers at this position it’s hard to ignore the consistency that Moore displayed from start to finish.
10,198 Rec. Yards, 514 Rec., 19.84 YPC, 84 Rec. TD’s
Michael Thomas, (NO): MT13 had a great campaign this cycle giving the young QB Motl a consistent target. With only one season below 1,000 yards he showed just how good he really is. Drawing double teams consistently allowing other weapons to get loose showed the value he had to his team. 3 SB titles as the main piece on a team that was built to be dynastic is a great feat. He came in as a AP 2nd teamer last cycle, but didn’t want to leave any doubt earning a spot on the 1st team this time around.
9,306 Rec. Yards, 478 Rec., 19.47 YPC, 79 Rec. TD’s
Curtis Samuel, (CAR): Samuel being at the 4 spot is tough with the production, being the second fiddle to D.J. Moore has that effect though. Samuel was every bit as impressive as most WR’s this cycle putting up numbers that were amazing from a number 2 WR. Drawing the 2nd best CB a lot of the time gave Samuel a chance to be dominant like a #1 against that type of competition. With speed like his, he’s a threat every time he touches the ball and it showed this cycle.
8,994 Rec. Yards, 505 Rec., 17.81 YPC, 85 Rec. TD’s
TE:
Dawson Knox, (BUF): Dawson Knox was easily the best TE around, honestly he’s arguably one of the best pass catchers of the cycle period. Knox put up WR like numbers having 1,000+ yards all but twice. He was every teams primary target to have their best defender on due to the severe lack of weapons around him especially early in the cycle. Having the ability to dominate the matchup whether that’s a LB that’s too slow for what he brings or a DB that doesn’t have the size to match up, Knox wasn’t quite Kropog for the Bills but he was definitely impressive and a joy to watch.
7,502 Rec. Yards, 486 Rec., 15.44 YPC, 62 Rec. TD’s
George Kittle, (SF): Kittle had a really good cycle averaging 866.57 yards per season. Even through coaching changes he produced well. Kittle was a part of a really solid WR/TE group and still showed to be the best of the bunch. With Kittle the 9ers were a tough matchup for any team they faced. With his ability to block and creat lanes off the edge along with his great ability as a pass catching TE, Kittle is about as good as it gets at the position. The numbers support it and for that reason and some others he is an AP 1st team selection.
6,066 Rec. Yards, 421 Rec., 14.41 YPC, 45 Rec. TD’s
Flex:
Dede Westbrook, (JAX): With Westbrook playing on the Jags he might not have gotten the recognition he deserved but he’s definitely getting it here. Early in the cycle he established himself as a elite level WR and although he tailed off a bit, he still produced really well. Much of the Jags offensive success is contributed to Westbrook’s ability. He dealt with QB’s that weren’t really that great and still showed out when they need him most. Being the main cog in a passing game is always a plus and if you do that at this level it’ll get you a 1st team nod.
8,285 Rec. Yards, 438 Rec., 18.92 YPC, 73 Rec. TD’s
OT:
David Bakhtiari, (GB): Bakh was masterful in protection this cycle with an absurd sack rate of .87% at T. He was .57% better than the next closest T. He also blocked for a team that ran for over 12,000 yards on the cycle. Being the only T to register a sack rate as low as most G’s and C’s, Bakh was purely elite this cycle and without a doubt the top T for the cycle.
Terron Armstead, (NO): Armstead was the blindside protection for one of the most prolific offenses this cycle. With a 1.47% sack rate, he was the 3rd best T and with the amount of drop backs that’s a wild number. The Saints average 4.75 YPC with him being on the OL as well. Armstead made the jump from All Pro 2nd team last cycle to All Pro 1st team
Tyron Smith, (DAL): Tyron Smith came in with a 1.52 sack rate which puts him at 5th amongst T’s, but the numbers on the ground is what really sets him apart. The Cowboys ran for 17,308 yards with a whopping 5.51 YPC. Smith was huge part of making that happen.
OG:
Quenton Nelson, (IND): Nelson was great this cycle as he was the best piece on a great OL. At Guard he had a crazy sack rate at .48% which earned him the best of any OL for the cycle. Being the guard on a team that also ran for over 14,000 yards with 5.48 YPC is also the reason he was recognized as one of the best OL of the cycle. 2 straight 1st team All Pro selections have Nelson in very nice company.
Zack Martin, (DAL): Zack Martin was another piece on that elite Dallas OL. Giving up a sack on only .55% of dropbacks is just elite. What’s even more wild is the 17,000+ yards he helped pave the way for across the cycle. With his 2nd straight 1st Team All-Pro selection and 3rd All Pro appearance, Martin continues to make waves in the league.
Ali Marpet, (TB): Marpet only gave up .77% of sacks on dropbacks for the Bucs. Marpet was easily the best OL on this team and led them to rushing for 13,000+ yards. 5.1 YPC is where that looks even better. Bringing in his 2nd straight 1st team All Pro selection, Marpet has been a vital piece in how the Tampa OL’s are built.
C:
Travis Frederick, (DAL): Frederick is in rare company as a 3 time 1st Team All Pro. He was special on a dominant OL, easily the best OL in the league. He may not have the best sack rate amongst C’s with a 1.07% which is still great, but once again as we saw with the previous 2 Cowboys lineman he led the way for 17,000+ rushing yards. Dominance on the ground and pass blocking get Frederick here.
Brandon Linder, (JAX): Brandon Linder is another repeat guy on this list as a 2 time 1st Team All Pro member. With a 1.02% sack rate, Linder was a very good pass blocker amongst his position. He also led the Jags to 14,000 yards on the ground as he helped this offense have time to make plays.
AMLoB All-Pro 2nd Team Offense

Baker Mayfield, (CLE):
64.35 Comp. %, 26,652 Pass Yards, 228 Pass TD’s, 153 INT’s

66.75 Comp. %, 26,724 Pass Yards, 218 Pass TD’s, 183 INT’s

8,854 Rush Yards, 5.82 YPC, 100 Rush TD’s, 1,967 Rec. Yards, 13 Rec. TD’s

2025 Rookie QB Class
In a year where the rookie QB class wasn’t touted very highly by draft experts, the class still managed to churn out 4 starters of the 5 QB’s drafted. In today’s spotlight we’ll focus on what these QB’s brought to the table last season and what their performances have did for their squads and what needs to happen in year 2.
1.) Kris Moses, Dallas Cowboys: Taken #2 ovr. in the first round out of Arizona State, Moses has been the day 1 starter for the Cowboys.
The Good- Kris has steadily gotten better as the season has gone on. Since coming back from injury in week 10 he’s shown improvement each week. Completing 67 percent of his passes with 15 total TD’s (14 passing, 1 rushing). This didn’t quite translate to wins with the Cowboys going 3-5 from then on but it’s promising for the future of this franchise if he continues to grow at this rate. The interception numbers should go down as he continues to play games, but the facts show he can play at the NFL level despite his short stature.
The Bad- the inconsistency which has led to a high number of picks is a little alarming. As a rookie you expect to see growing pains but he had more games with interceptions than without including 5 multi pick games. Inconsistency along with health are main concerns here as he’s also missed time due to injury.
The verdict- Kris has showed flashes of brilliance last season of his star potential and if he can clean up some of the mistakes he can do great things with his athleticism and talent. The hope is he’ll stay healthy and grow in year 2 and make an even bigger impact on this talented Cowboys squad after being 5-7 as a starter his rookie year.
2.) Sean McKee, Carolina Panthers: taken at pick 25 in the 1st round by the Panthers out of San Diego State he’s been the day 1 starter
The Good- McKee has the prototypical size and athleticism you want from the QB position, he’s efficient and can be great when he’s hot. McKee helped steady the ship taking the Panthers to a 13-3 record. Although he had 21 total TD’s (19 passing, 2 rushing) to 19 picks on 70% completions, in the 13 wins he had a 79% completions to go along with 20 total TD’s (18 passing, 2 rushing) and only 6 picks and won 9 in a row to end the season along with a conference championship berth.
The Bad- When McKee is bad, he’s really bad. In the 4 multi pick games he had last season he had a total of 1 TD to 16 picks and 3 of those were losses where he only completed 39% of his passes and had the 1 TD to 13 picks. In year 2 he has to be better and if this team hopes to make a run, protecting the football will be vital for his development and this team’s growth.
The Verdict- McKee has come up in big moments with the fact he has a win now team putting a lot of weight on his shoulders. In year 2 the hope is that he grows to be the X Factor of this offense with elite weapons.
3.) Jack Happ, Miami Dolphins: the 4th pick in the 2nd round by the Dolphins out of Missouri started from day 1.
The Good- Happ definitely has prototype size and arm talent. His rookie season was a little rough but there were times where he made big time plays. During the season he had a string of solid games between week 9 and week 14 where he was completing 69% of his passes with 10 TD’s to 10 picks. Showing off the ability he had to get the ball downfield was a major piece as well.
The Bad- The mistakes just seemed to mount up as he tossed 31 picks on the season. He had quite a few rough games that attributes to that but the consistency has to be there. With Happ being the one to man the ship for this team he has to find ways to be better with protecting the football.
The Verdict- Happ, as many rookie QB’s have, needs to be more consistent in year 2 in order for his team to be able to compete. The tools are there for him to be a solid option for this team, but he just has to put it all together to result in wins for this Dolphins team.
4.) Jake Leake, Oakland Raiders: with the 12th pick in the 3rd round, the Raiders took Leake and made him a day 1 starter
The Good- Leake is a Super Bowl champion simply said. Leake was so resilient leading this team to an 11-5 record after a rough 2-4 start heading into the bye week. On the other side of that he completed 66% of his passes with 22 total TD’s (21 passing, 1 rushing) to 14 picks. This large shift helped get this team a 13-1 record counting the playoffs since then. With Leake getting better and better each week the sky is the limit on what he can do.
The Bad- The consistency early on was touch and go as it was put by the owner of the Raiders. He struggled early to a tune of 8 TD’s to 15 picks with that 2-4 record. He ended the season strong but maybe he doesn’t get the opportunity if the struggles return this season in a tough AFC.
The Verdict- While not looking to be a star, Leake is just what this team needs. He already has led them to a Super Bowl title in convincing fashion. The next step is putting his play to match the end of season accolades for him.
We have reached Super Bowl week for AMLoB Super Bowl XXIV and we have a great matchup here between the Chiefs and Saints. The Chiefs have been the comeback kid’s of the postseason with 2 comeback victories including a 4 minute swing to win the game 21-20 late in the 4th in the AFC Championship Game. This offense has been rolling in the passing game with Mahomes connecting with Hill and Hardman consistently this season. Also the addition of Mack has proven to be a huge move as he has led this defense into new territory with his ability to make plays on the edge in the Chiefs bend but don’t break system on defense. The Saints on the other hand have been led by 2nd year sensation Blake Motl who has led this team to a 2nd super bowl appearance in the last 4 seasons, following in Brees footsteps before him. The Saints just have been consistent in finding ways to win football games even with one of the best weapons in AMLoB out for the 2nd half of the season with injury. Trequan has really come on as a number 2 and Motl has been great slicing and dicing defenses. When it comes to the other side of the ball for the Saints, the defense is flat out elite especially with pass defense. This team is loaded with superstars on that side of the ball and it has been shown that they are every bit of the greatness they portray.
Now getting into the game, I think this game will be a great defensive battle as the Saints have the pieces on defense to matchup with the Chiefs and vice versa. The Saints will have to find a way to guard the trio of Hill, Hardman and Kelce with the playmaker Mahomes finding ways to beat a defense constantly. With pieces like the Saints have I believe they can matchup well though with Lattimore and Westry on the outside, CJ and Marcus Williams at Safety and Pool and Anzalone at LB on top of the elite pass rush from Davenport and Jordan. For the Saints offense, they have Mike Thomas who is a mismatch for most secondaries along with the emerging Superstar Trequan as a number 2 guy. No Kamara can hurt the Saints but Merriam performs at an elite level at TE to offset the pass catching and Harris can be solid on the ground. The secondary for the Chiefs is great with Fuller and Jones holding down the outsides and an elite pass rusher with Mack and an up and coming one with Garrett.
Overall this should be a great game with some great moments on both sides of the ball for each team, but I think the Saints defense is so elite that they will make the game defining play to pull off the W.
Score Prediction:
Chiefs: 20
Saints: 24
When looking at the top rookies in the league for the first half of the season, as teams start to find out who they are, there have been some big time game changers that have come into the league and are putting up big time numbers. I’ll go off an name the top 5 on both sides in no particular order.
Offense:
1.) Kyler Murray, QB, ARI- The number 1 pick in this past draft for the Cardinals has been off to a great individual start although it hasn’t directly related to a lot of wins just yet. Although he hasn’t quite figured out how to finish these games yet, Murray has played at a level that’s good enough to keep them there. The fact he’s getting it done through the air and on the ground shows just how big time of a player he is at this point posting 2,413 passing yards with a 61.2 comp. % and 24 passing TD’s to 17 picks along with 574 yards and a TD on the ground. Murray has been big time and as this team continues to grow and be built around him this team will continue to improve.
2.) Josh Jacobs, HB, OAK- As the only RB taken in the 1st round of this past draft, Jacobs has proven to be a handful so far into his rookie season posting 907 rushing yards (which place him 11th in the league) on 186 attempts for an almost 5 yards per carry average. He’s also gotten in for 11 rushing TD’s and even a receiving TD as well. He hasn’t quite been as effective receiving out of the backfield but with his ability to get it done on the ground I think he’s working out just fine for a Raiders team that still only has 1 loss.
3.) Miles Sanders, HB, PHI- The 2nd round pick from Penn State has played really solid football to this point in the season with 879 rushing yards on only 157 attempts for a whopping 5.6 average. He has ran for 9 TD’s and although he hasn’t made much impact in the passing game, he also has a receiving TD. Sanders has helped this Eagles team stay afloat with a 4-5 record as they are in the think of it for wild card contention. I’m sure the plan is to continue to utilize his skills on the ground as they hope he improves a pass catcher as the season goes on.
4.) D.K. Metcalf, WR, SEA- The Seahawks have found their new number 1 after the release and surprising retirement of Doug Baldwin. Although they’re 4-6, Metcalf has come on really strong this season as he’s currently 8th in the league in receiving yards with 906 and tied for 3rd in receptions with 52 although he only has 6 receiving TD’s to show for it. He’s proven to be a big time player and as his route running matches his physical talent he could wreak havoc for years to come.
5.) Dawson Knox, TE, BUF- Knox has been a really bright spot in a very uncharacteristically dark season for the Bills. Knox leads the whole league in receptions (59), leads TE’s in receiving yards (721) and is 2nd amongst TE’s for TD’s (6). Knox has given some players flashes of another dominant receiving threat at TE for this Bills team in the past......Kropog. Although it hasn’t quite translated to wins just yet watch as Knox finishes down the stretch and develops.
Defense:
1.) Devin White, MLB, TB- Devin White has been such a monster this year on the defensive side of the ball as he quarterbacks this defense in Tampa. Coming in with 87 total tackles, 9 of those for loss, to go along with 1.5 sacks. His ability to force turnovers and stop the pass are underrated as well with his 4 picks, 6 deflections and a forced fumble with one defensive TD. Devin White has been playing at a ridiculously high level and the league should notice.
2.) Brian Burns, EDGE, CAR- Burns has been arguably the most effective edge player from this draft class as he’s already posted 12 tackles for loss, 10 sacks on 33 tackles. With such impressive numbers through 9 games he’s helped keep this struggling Panthers team remain optimistic with his play on the defensive side of the ball. His ability to make plays in the run game as well as get to the passer has proved to be really valuable to this defense.
3.) Sione Takitaki, MLB, CLE- The Browns have been an impressive team this season and a big part of that has been Takitaki as he’s been amazing in just making plays in the run game and passing game with 63 total tackles that include 13 tackles for loss to go along with 10 picks and 2 pass deflections. He’s also returned 4 picks for scores and has manned the middle of a very tough defense.
4.) Byron Murphy, CB, ARI- Murphy has locked down the outside for the Cards with good run support and ability in coverage. 55 total tackles with 4 tackles for loss and 6 picks with 10 pass deflections which is up pier tier in the league for a cornerback to this point in the season. As the season progresses and Murphy continues to grow it’ll be interesting to see how he grows in this season with the Cards.
5.) Juan Thornhill, S, KC- Thornhill was placed in an amazing situation in Kansas City with an offense led by Mahomes and a defense that includes Byron Jones, Kendall Fuller and Honey Badger. With such great guys to learn from around him Thornhill has flourished with 51 total tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 6 picks, 4 deflections and 2 TD’s. Thornhill still has the back half to go but he looks to be developing into a superstar.
1.) Jacksonville Jaguars (8-0)
The Jags have roared through the first half of the season with a dominant stretch to an 8-0 record. The defending champions have played extremely well this season with Fournette’s domination on the ground with 1,036 rushing yards and 15 rushing TD’s. Leading in point differential being #1 in both points scored and allowed shows how well this team has played this season. The defense has continued to be elite as they lead in fewest yards total yards allowed and fewest passing yards allowed. As they look to roll through and potentially end up with another 16-0 season it’ll be interesting to see if anyone can stop them down the stretch. The Jags are looking like favorites once again to bring home another championship in AMLoB Super Bowl XIX.
2.) Arizona Cardinals (7-1)
When you look at the Cardinals they have shown just how much an elite defense means as they are top 3 across the defensive yardage rankings and #2 in points allowed. Josh Jacobs has had a strong sophomore campaign after a breakout rookie year in which he looked like a superstar. He’s held up well despite all of the carries and has helped the offense look stable complementing star QB Josh Rosen. After a couple of good deals to bring in help for Kirk and Gesicki, the passing game has gotten a nice boost with Corey Coleman and Courtland Sutton. This team has looked dangerous this season going into hostile territory in New Orleans and coming out with a win. Watch for this team to contend for a title come playoff time.
3.) Cleveland Browns (7-1)
The Cleveland Browns have shown once again why they are perennial Super Bowl contenders in AMLoB as they are putting together another great season. Baker Mayfield is playing amazing football with incredible efficiency with 16 passing TD’s to just 1 lone interception and completing 67% of his passes. The defense has been playing like studs as they’ve show themselves in the top 5 in defensive yardage allowed and #3 in points allowed on the season. With the 2nd highest point differential this team has shown the ability to get it done on both sides of the ball as they’ve pushed through the season at a dominating pace since their week 1 loss. The Browns look to continue this strong run as they’ve won 8 in a row and look to be true contenders as the franchise has been.
4.) Denver Broncos (7-1)
The Broncos have taken the approach of strong defense masks what at times can be marginal offense as they’ve continued to make plays on the defensive side of the ball and control the tempo on offense with the rookie Michael Cloud. Oluokun has been a monster in forcing interceptions as he looks to lead the league once again under this Broncos team. Chubb and Brightful have helped that production hugely by being monsters coming in off the edge and getting pressure on the QB, with Jessie Bates holding it down on the secondary following his coach from Cincy to Denver. Ligon has maintained on offense but Cloud has been a huge part of this team’s success so far. This team has continued to overachieve and they look to keep that trend throughout.
5.) New Orleans Saints (6-2)
The Saints have been playing big time football with some great wins against contending teams the first half of the season. With wins over the 5-3 Texans, the 4-3-1 Eagles and 2 big time wins over the 7-2 Panthers this team looks primed and ready to take home another division title and compete for a spot representing the NFC in AMLoB Super Bowl XIX. Justin Herbert has bounced back in his sophomore campaign learning from his trial by fire last season with Waddle becoming his favorite target. With Waddle and his ability to break the game open this offense has limitless potential with Kamara handling things on the ground. Dylan Moses has shown great command of this defense as this Saints team looks to continue to make things happen in the 2nd half.
6.) Oakland Raiders (7-2)
It’s great to see how this Raiders team has bounced back these last few seasons after some lackluster years to build where they are. The numbers don’t necessarily scream a great season but this Raiders team finds a way to make sure they win games. Von Miller has been spectacular with 16 sacks so far this season and leading the defense when they need to have plays made. Jordan Howard has been solid for them on offense as he’s kept this running game going and helped control games with the offense’s ability to slow the game down as Prescott manages the game. Devin Bush continues to be a stud and make things happen at the second level for this team. As we get to the back half of the season let’s see if this team conintues to “Just Win Baby.”
7.) Detroit Lions (6-2)
Messiah DeWeaver and this Lions squad have been great so far this season with DeWeaver and his MVP numbers making this offense roll. Coming off of his great sophomore campaign he has put this team in prime position to run away with the NFC North this season. Completing 67% of his passes to go along with 2,798 passing yards and 19 passing TD’s to only 5 picks has DeWeaver looking like he’s on his way to superstar status. With so many talented weapons including the rookie TE Sanchez Gregory who replaced Blake Leonard in this offense, the Lions have looked really good this first half. The defense is coming around with Bachie and Davis trying to hold things down as the leaders. Look for these Lions to make noise the 2nd half of this season as things get tight.
8.) Carolina Panthers (7-2)
After such a tough season last year with a 5-11 record, the Panthers have responded with a good 1st half to the season bringing them to #8. Lj Watkins has put up big numbers with the increasing amount of weapons he’s gotten. Completing 66% of his passes with 2,550 passing yards and 26 total TD’s to 9 picks has him in the MVP conversation. The running game has taken a hit after being this team’s bread and butter for so long but they have performed well with the passing game which helps tremendously. The defense has struggled in moments and are looking to be more consistent on the back half of this season coming off of a bye week. Look for this team to try and get back to the form a few seasons ago that led to a Super Bowl appearance.
9.) Dallas Cowboys (6-2)
The Cowboys have taken the reigns of the NFC East so far in the tenure under the new regime. This talented squad has been playing really good football so far this season with their prime time RB leading the way as Zeke has almost 1,000 yards and 11 total scores this season. Martell has been playing solid football with the only concern being the amount of turnovers he has. Cutting down on those could really make this Cowboys team scary down the stretch. Marquise Brown has looked like he is well worth the huge deal he just got from the organization with 970 receiving yards and 6 TD’s. The rookie LB Mark Madsen has been huge coming up with 5 picks and leading the team in tackles. Be on the lookout for this squad as they look to maintain this play the 2nd half.
10.) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)
The Steelers organization has managed to still play good football even under the new regime even with the oddity of having more points allowed than points scored overall this season with 2 losses. They haven’t been eye popping but solid on both sides of the ball as they’ve managed to get to 6-2 and round out the top 10. Jared Goff has shown to be a huge addition for this team with 15 TD’s to 4 interceptions. The secondary does look great being led by Sektor Babers who has been proven to be one of the most valuable picks we’ve seen in these drafts. With the 2nd half of the season coming the Steelers look to make noise and try to compete in the tough AFC climate. Watching down the stretch how it unfolds should be interesting to see.
1.) Buffalo Bills (12-1)
Retaining their spot at #1 we have the Bills who have been playing at a really high level all season, even in their loss it was a one score ball game. With the highest point differential in the league, there is a lot that this team has done to opponents with their 30 point scoring average to 13 points allowed per game. Josh Allen is playing elite and efficient with 29 TD passes to only 11 picks with a 63.4 completion %, and a 103.9 QB Rating. Shady has been holding it down on the ground as he’s on pace for 1,000+ rushing yards. The defense has forced 44 takeaways along the way to attribute to this team’s success as well with that being the highest count in the league. Tough games against the division rival Pats and the Jags for the 1 seed are up next for this Bills team.
[Prev. Rank: 1]
2.) Jacksonville Jaguars (12-1)
The Jags continue their elite play over these last couple seasons as they roll into week 15 with a 12-1 record. The leading MVP candidate, Leonard Fournette, has played like a beast the entire season as he’s averaging almost 100 rushing yards per contest to go along with his 17 TD’s. Blake has been playing a lot better as of late as the turnovers have cut down for him. The defense is flourishing too as they’re only allowing 14 points per game this season. Taking top 4 in every category this defense has played monstrous despite the lack of turnovers they’ve gotten which just means they suffocate and dominate opponents. With this defense and offense playing like they are now, this could shape up for an interesting week 16 matchup against the Bills.
[Prev. Rank: 2]
3.) Kansas City Chiefs (11-2)
Jumping up a spot, we have the Chiefs coming in at #3 with their very impressive 11-2 record. The defense has been the amazing thing with this team as they lead the league in rush defense and are only allowing 14 points per game. The overall defensive numbers may not look to great but the “bend but don’t break” attitude they have had worked great for this team. The offense has been really efficient as they’ve kept the turnovers down and grind out drives for points constantly. Mahomes has played solid especially having 20 passing TD’s to only 10 picks despite his underwhelming completion %. Hunt is getting it done on the ground as he’s almost at 1,000 on the ground with 7 TD’s. 3 tough games to end the season will keep this team tuned for the playoffs.
[Prev. Rank: 4]
4.) Baltimore Ravens (10-3)
The Ravens have really came on as of late bringing them to a 10-3 record heading into week 15. The offense has been great with Lamar Jackson having another impressive season that he just piggybacked from his rookie season last year. They haven’t quite gotten it going on the ground like they would like but with the way this air attack is going they really don’t need to do much on the ground to be effective. The defense has struggled as they’ve allowed 24 points per game and struggle for stops. With the division already locked up this team is playing these last 3 games strictly for potential seeding purposes. The Ravens probably will continue playing at high level so they can go into the playoffs with momentum. Watch out for this team come the postseason.
[Prev. Rank: 9]
5.) Carolina Panthers (9-4)
After some mid season struggles, this Panthers team looks like they are back on track and ready to finish the season strong. Winning 3 of their last 4 including a thriller in LA against the Rams they are finally looking like their early season selves again. The running game has stayed strong as they lead the league by almost 12 yards per game on the ground with the dynamic duo of Le’Veon and CMC playing great football. Cam has been efficient with 22 TD’s to 10 picks and a TD on the ground as well. The defense does continue to ail the is team though as they struggle constantly to get stops with any type of consistency. Overall this Panthers team has played good football this year as they look to continue that trend through the last 3 games and hopefully playoffs.
[Prev. Rank: 8]
6.) Detroit Lions (8-5)
Keeping their spot at #6 amongst a slew of 8-5 teams, the Lions look to be at the top of that heap. They’ve struggled lately losing 2 of their last 3 to a Bears team that could potentially come back to haunt them later if they don’t win out and the struggling Chargers, but sandwiched in between was a huge win against the current 1 seed which could prove vital when determining seeding as well. The defense has shined for this team as they play well against the run and the pass as well as forcing turnovers. The offense has struggled though more specifically Matthew Stafford as he hasn’t found a rhythm yet this season. Kerryon on the other hand has played great though punching in 14 TD’s on the ground. 3 tough games to end the season could determine this team’s fate.
[Prev. Rank: 6]
7.) New York Giants (9-4)
Dropping 2 spots to #7, we have the Giants who are currently the 1 seed in the NFC. This team has struggled with consistency that’s led to the losses they’ve had this year because when this team is on and rolling there isn’t much that can be done but when they’re off they’re off. Lauletta is the biggest part of this because of his inconsistency at the QB position, but with Saquon holding it down on the ground he can afford to have a few missteps with the ground and pound approach along with play from their really good defense. The defense doesn’t have the eye popping numbers to match their play but that just shows how good they are when you watch the film. The Giants are currently the 1 seed but week 17 against the division rival Eagles could change that quickly.
[Prev. Rank: 5]
8.) Cleveland Browns (8-5)
Falling to #8 we have the Browns, who are on a 3 game losing streak and doesn’t look like its changing any time soon. This Browns team started off about as hot as anyone starting off 6-0 but going 2-5 since then. Chubb has slowed down considerably since his hot start although he is on pace for 1,000+ yards and has 14 rushing TD’s. The defense hasn’t played well at all in the slump and the offense hasn’t done much either, and with a loss this week the Ravens clinch the division so we’ll have to see how this goes. Maybe this team will turn it around down the stretch but it doesn’t look likely as was said earlier. This team’s being in the top 10 may not be the case once the end of the regular season rolls around. They could really go 8-8 to finish it out.
[Prev. Rank: 3]
9.) Arizona Cardinals (8-5)
The Cardinals dropped a couple spots to number 9 due to an issue similar to the Giants in the NFC, inconsistency.the one thing that is always elite is the defense as they suffocate and play great football in most situations but the offense can struggle to put up points. Mack has fallen off the radar since a hot start early which hasn’t been good and Risen has played better with Kirk at WR which is a plus for this team. The defense on the other hand has played great as they’re a top 10 defense in all categories proving just how great they are. Reddick is putting up another amazing season with 17 picks, 3 FF’s, 3 sacks and a TD. The edge rushing tandem has a combined 28 sacks which is amazing with good coverage on the back end. Maybe this team hits their stride again late.
[Prev. Rank: 7]
10.) Los Angeles Rams (8-5)
Making it into the top 10 for the first time in league history we have the LA Rams. This team has been solid all season as they’ve gone 6-3 since a mediocre 2-2 start. They’ve been surging as of late and look to hold onto their wild card spot and possibly make a case to win the division if the Cardinals don’t hold up through these last 3 games and the Rams do. Goff has players well as the offense trucks along with their committee at RB led by Gurley. Aaron Donald continues to anchor the defense as he’s racked up 20 sacks so far this season and the 1st round rookie Neill holding it down at the MLB spot. Watching this team this season has shown that they’re capable of competing in a tough NFC, with the playoffs around the corner, if they make it this team could be an issue.

1.) Buffalo Bills (9-1)
The Bills have played at a ridiculously high level this season putting them at 9-1heading into week 12. They’ve dominated pretty much the season so far with the biggest point differential in the league outscoring opponents 29-12 on a per game average. Josh Allen has been playing at a great level as he’s grown into what looks like the franchise QB this team visioned he’d be when they drafted him. 24 TD’s to 11 picks is big time for the young QB and Corey Coleman has shown to be his favorite target pulling in 9 TD’s and 776 yards on 43 catches. The defense continues to look great as they’re getting a lot of pressure up front and making big time plays on the back end. Tremaine Edmunds has done a great job and keeps this defense and this team together as the leader.
[Prev. Rank: 2]
2.) Jacksonville Jaguars (9-1)
Not long before the Jags rose back into the top 2 as they were first dethroned from the 1 spot to the 4 spot last time around and jump back into #2 with really good play from the defense. This team continues to play well despite some tight games along the way. Fournette is still playing at an elite level and he is even a top candidate in the MVP race. He fuels this team with his strong performances on the ground which gives the defense rest and allows them to keep the clamps on teams with strong play. Chark and Westbrook are helping a struggling Blake Bortles along too so this offense is very dangerous. The Jags are ready to roll as they lead the AFC South and look to clinch in the coming weeks. Look for this team as a legit Super Bowl contender again.
[Prev. Rank: 4]
3.) Cleveland Browns (8-2)
Jumping from #5 to #3 the Browns have had a very successful season so far and don’t look to slow up. They’ve been ground and pound with strong defensive play this season and it shows just how dangerous this team can be with ball control. This team leads the league in points scored with their 32 points per game average and don’t look to slow up anytime soon. Nick Chubb has been a complete workhorse for this team as he’s looked great being the lead back with Duke Johnson Jr. Sprinkled in on occasion. Baker Mayfield is playing at a very efficient clip with 17 TD’s to only 6 picks with a 109.8 QB Rating. The defense doesn’t have many eye popping numbers but their play has helped this ship stay up as well. The Browns are dangerous as the playoffs approach.
[Prev. Rank: 5]
4.) Kansas City Chiefs (8-2)
The Chiefs are a solid football team and have shown that time and time again this season as they’ve posted an 8-2 record bumping them up from #6 to #4. This is another team that’s predicated in ball control as they have the pieces to be more explosive but would rather control the clock and control the ball because the defense makes plays and forces punts. Mahomes has kept his pick numbers down to 6 while still throwing 16 TD’s even though his completion % is only at 56.2%. Hunt and Hill have crushed it on this offense as they’ve continued to look good this season. Houston and Donnerson have anchored this defense and help make this team really dangerous. This team isn’t the flashy team but they grind it out and constantly find ways to get it done.
[Prev. Rank: 6]
5.) New York Giants (7-3)
The #1 seed in the NFC Giants have jumped back into the top 5 this week even though they haven’t played great football but good enough to get the job done. The offense is very explosive but with the high pick numbers it doesn’t quite reflect in their box scores. The big reason this offense can be loose and get away with a lot though is with how good this defense has played this season. Very much bend but don’t break mentality with the offense’s ability to quick strike in moments is what has this team looking like they can contend for another Super Bowl appearance. Barkley is probably gonna be the 1st to 1,000 which shows his dominance on the ground which has helped propel this team upwards. Lookout for this team as the playoffs approach.
[Prev. Rank: 7]
6.) Detroit Lions (7-3)
Due to struggling lately, this Lions team has slipped from #2 to #6 but even with these struggles this Lions team has been a very impressive bunch this season. With quite a few tough games coming up on the schedule it’ll let us know just how good this team really can be. The defense has played really well as they are top 10 across the board in defensive yardage numbers. Kerryon Johnson has found his groove on the ground to the tune of 730 yards and 12 TD’s which is a great season considering injuries cut him short in his rookie season. Although Matthew Stafford hasn’t wutie put up franchise QB type numbers this season he is definitely spreading it around which bodes well for this Lions team. Watch out for this team down the stretch they are live in this NFC race.
[Prev. Rank: 2]
7.) Arizona Cardinals (7-3)
Getting into the point of the season where teams typically find a groove, the Cardinals look like they are doing that now and hitting their stride. With some very solid wins against the Panthers and Ravens that has jumped them up 2 spots from 9 to 7. The defense is what this coach prides himself on and that definitely shows as the pressure they generate in their 3-4 defense makes it really tough on opponents. Marlon Mack is running the ball well for this offense as he helps control the clock and then they let Christian Kirk open up the game as him and Rosen have a great bond already with them continuing to put up numbers together. If there is a weakness to this team though it’s Rosen’s decision making but with the elite defense that doesn’t matter to this team right now.
[Prev. Rank: 9]
8.) Carolina Panthers (7-3)
This Panthers team has struggled the last few games especially to get the offense going like they were early. The defense has been atrocious as they struggled against the run and the pass a lot again this season and with the offense slowing down its only made the problem worse. Too many big plays given up by this Panthers team is the problem. Back to the offense though, although Bell and CMC have played solid together they haven’t quite captured their early season magic which is what had this team looking good early. DJ Moore has shown the ability to make plays on the outside and the WR core in general does. The key issue with this team is their struggles on defense and if they can sure that up, then this team could be a team to watch down the stretch.
[Prev. Rank: 3]
9.) Baltimore Ravens (7-3)
Returning back into the top 10 we have the Ravens who’ve played well this season posting a 7-3 record. The offense is still playing at a good level, not quite to where they were at this point a season ago but still putting up really good numbers. Jackson has been the thing that makes this offense go with 24 TD’s to 14 picks and a 115 QB Rating. They haven’t gotten as much from Pickett as they’d like but he does have a nose for the end zone with 9 total TD’s so far. The defense has struggled quite a bit but with the offense playing like they are they can get away with more than most teams can. With a couple division games and tough opponents there can be a tough road down the stretch but we shall see what this team has in store for the AFC field.
[Prev. Rank: 11]
10.) New England Patriots (6-4)
The sleeper team of the season has been the Patriots as they’ve played really well despite not being acknowledged much. They don’t necessarily have eye popping numbers on either side of the ball but they find ways to get the job done and win games. Michel has played solid on the ground in his 2nd season as he looks to eclipse 1,000 yards this season. The real thing that’s happened with this team though is that Jameis Winston has looked good as the heir apparent to Tom Brady. This team is interesting because they just figure out ways to get it done, this coach has this team believing that they can be a playoff team and they’re showing it. Their schedule is about get really tough though so we should learn a lot about this team by how they finish.

1.) Buffalo Bills (5-1)
For the first time in the cycle we have a new number 1 gentleman, the Bills have played exceptional to this point in the season and don’t look to slow down either. Josh Allen has been balling to the tune of 15 TD’s to 8 picks with a 63.8 comp. % which leaves a little to be desired but still a solid number. The defense has been forcing turnovers as well as sacks with rookie Christian Carter already at 11. Tremaine Edmunds has built on the success from last season with 6 picks, 2 FF’s, 3 sacks and a TD. Bowman has also been a huge addition for this team with 4 picks of his own, and the secondary has pulled in 17 combined as well. Playing at such a great level on both sides this early could be great for this team as they continue to try and roll this season.
[Prev. Rank: 2]
2.) Detroit Lions (5-1)
The Lions come in at a well deserved number 2 with their only loss coming in a close game to the rising Cowboys. The story of this team is the defense as hey always give this team good field position with the turnovers they force. The offense is good enough to punch it in for points too which is really good for this team. They spread the wealth on this team with so many guys being significant contributing factors to the effectiveness of this offense. Jarrad Davis has been making plays pulling down 7 picks already, and Slay has continued to be a shut down CB pulling down 5 of his own and we’re only just getting to week 8. If this defense continues to force turnovers and this offense continues like it is this team could be doing damage to its opponents.
[Prev. Rank: 5]
3.) Carolina Panthers (6-1)
The Panthers have worked their way into the top 3 and deservedly so after knocking off the defending champion Jags in a classic game for the ages. Bell and CMC have slowed down a bit but are still helping to control the tempo on the offense by getting solid gains on the ground. Cam and DJ Moore have firmed a great bond as they continue to put up great numbers together and Funchess, Olsen and Samuel are making good plays as well. The defense still is struggling though as they can’t get much run support and the secondary struggles against the pass. As this season goes on look for the defense to improve because if so that can lead to some good things happening in Carolina as they try not to collapse on the back half like they did last season.
[Prev. Rank: 6]
4.) Jacksonville Jaguars (6-1)
The Jags dropping to number 4 is more of a testament to the teams ahead as opposed to an indictment against their season so far. The Jags have been incredibly impressive this season with it taking a miracle for a team to come out with a win against them. The defense is still playing at an elite level with Telvin Smith Sr. leading the way and the offense is ranked top 10 across the board as well which shows that they’re getting it done on both sides of the ball as they look for that to continue throughout the season. Blake Bortles hasn’t quite played to the level that he did last season though with 10 picks already to the 13 total he threw all of last year. If Bortles gets his efficiency back into a good spot then look for this team to continue their dominance.
[Prev. Rank: 1]
5.) Cleveland Browns (5-1)
Taking a loss to the Jets hurt this team a little bit in what could be the first of many games with their coach on a personal leave of absence but overall they have played really well this season leading them to another top 5 ranking. With how well this team has played they looked to be a team on a mission but with their coach out we have no idea how this team will find a way to stay afloat. Chubb and DJJ have been crushing it on the ground for this team and Mayfield playing solid but not stellar football has this team in a good spot. EJ Gaines continues to make plays on defense which is big time for this secondary as they haven’t been making plays at the level they did last season. It’ll be interesting to see how this season ends for this Browns team.
[Prev. Rank: 4]
6.) Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
The Chiefs have continued to find ways to win games which Patrick Mahomes is playing a pretty large part in that with 13 TD’s to 3 picks even though his comp. % definitely leaches a lot to be desired. Hunt has helped this offense a lot with his efforts on the ground and Kelce and Hill continue to give defenses fits especially Tyreek with his ability to take the top off the defense. This team’s efforts on the defensive side of the ball show and prove they can stop the run and bend but don’t break to give up a lot of points which is one of the more important things for this coach. With some tough matchups coming up we will find out a lot about this Chiefs team so it’ll be something to see if they continue to play at this level against their upcoming opponents.
[Prev. Rank: 9]
7.) New York Giants (5-2)
The Giants have been really solid this year despite struggling with some of the inconsistency in play. The offense is about as explosive as it can be with Saquon leading the way on the ground as he makes sure to control the tempo of the game whenever he’s not breaking big runs. Lauletta is still having struggles with his turnovers but it hasn’t hurt this team too bad to this point seeing as they are 5-2 so far this season. The defense has definitely been a strong point with this team though as they’ve pushed through this season and find ways to win with the amount of turnovers the offense gives up. Saquon has been special this season and it’s expected to continue this season as he’s played at a level he wasn’t at last season.
[Prev. Rank: 3]
8.) Philadelphia Eagles (5-2)
Having such a good quiet season has the Eagles ranked here at 8. The defense has been great as they’ve been top 5 in most categories for a good part of the season. The offense hasn’t quite hit the way it’s supposed to though with a lot of talented guys. Wentz has been accurate but still throwing more picks than TD’s but the rookie Bowers has been solid on the ground as the power back looks to really hit his stride in the 2nd half of the season. The defense however has forced a lot of turnovers and put a lot of pressure on opponents up front. Nigel Bradham has pulled in 7 picks from his LB spot and Malcolm Jenkins holds down the secondary with 5. With so much talent on this team it’s hard to see this team falling off. Maybe they impress more with their upcoming games.
[Prev. Rank: 12]
9.) Arizona Cardinals (4-2)
The Cardinals have done it again with this team as defense has been elite and helped this offense be able to open up more. Since getting Mack last season this team has been completely different as they’ve forced more pressure, giving the coach flexibility to drop more in coverage and the secondary making more plays. The offense has potential to be explosive with the young man Rosen at QB Mack at RB and Kirk playing great at WR. The key to the offense though goes to Quenton Nelson has definitely elevated the play since he was acquired as well. Haason Reddick has been having another season that should be DPOY worthy with 33 tackles, 3 sacks, 3 FF’s and 14 picks. This Cardinals team can be really good so look out for them the rest of the way.
[Prev. Rank: 8]
10.) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-2)
The Bucs have started this season similar to how they ended the last one and that’s making plays to win games. The offense is where this team really shines led by a few young guys including their rookie QB and WR Kakashi and Butler with the 2nd year man RoJo holding it down on the ground. Kakashi got thrown into the fire and has responded extremely well especially with the connection he’s already established with Butler. The defense hasn’t necessarily been great but they have had moments of brilliance which this coach hopes to turn into a lot more of a consistent brilliance than it currently is. This Bucs team has played well overall this season and they look to make more happen the longer we get into the season.

1.) Jacksonville Jaguars (4-0)
Continuing on their run of dominance from last season, the Jags have looked great early on at 4-0. With a big part of the meat of their schedule early this team has been very impressive so far. Bortles isn’t quite playing at the level he was last season but Fournette has been a straight beast on the ground for this team as he’s done a lot to keep this offense going with his work on the ground. The defense is playing at an elite level once again which is to be expected from a group as talented as they are. This Jags team has played to its strengths so well with ball control and strong defense as they continue to punish opponents. With a strong start a quarter of the way through the season, this could bode well for another strong run this season.

2.) Buffalo Bills (3-1)
The Bills have been playing at a great level so far this season starting off 3-0 before their first loss which was a close one at home to Baltimore. Josh Allen is looking like the quarterback that he was drafted to be by this franchise in the 2018 draft. Shady has handled the work on the ground and looks to help take the pressure off the young QB as he continues to grow. Corey Coleman has been Allen’s favorite target so far as he’s built a great rapport with the QB dating back to last season. The defense is where this team has really shined though, just racking up sacks and forcing turnovers with the secondary as it’s either a coverage sack or quick pressure picks. The Bills have looked great so far and look better than they were at this point last season.
[Prev. Rank: 8]
3.) New York Giants (3-1)
The reigning NFC champion has played solid football this season even though they still have some of the inconsistency issues they had last year. Saquon has officially established himself as an elite back in the early part of the season as the production for him has spiked from last season. Lauletta is playing better than last year so far with only 3 picks to 6 TD’s at the moment. The good things about this squad come down to the offense a lot of the time as Evan Engram and OBJ have complimented the great ground game being big time targets for Lauletta. The rookie Perry Raymond has done a lot for this defense as he and Vernon have gotten great pass rushing opportunities with their play so far. The Giants look like they can make a run again if they can be consistent.
[Prev. Rank: 5]
4.) Cleveland Browns (4-0)
This coach has declared this season as “the Era of Chubb” which isn’t really a stretch with how well he’s played so far. Baker has played solid football but hasn’t been the story of the offense and its elite Rushing attack. Between Chubb and Johnson they’ve put up great numbers and will look to continue their great play throughout the season. The defense hasn’t been great this year overall but their ability to stop the run has been one of the best things so far this year. EJ Gaines has been great for this secondary with 4 picks and a TD already. Garrett is doing a solid job with 4 sacks so far so the pass rush is ok. With how well they’ve played this team looks like a contender early in the regular season, so let’s see if they can keep it up.
[Prev. Rank: 6]
5.) Detroit Lions (3-1)
The Lions have been about as good as anyone so far into the season. Playing stifling defense and the offense flowing in the air and on the ground has this team looking like they can take the 1 seed in the conference again. Starting off with the less strenuous part of the schedule they have gotten off to a great start. Stafford has continued to play solid early just like last season and Kerryon is not only healthy but he’s making plays in the run game again which is huge for this offense. Spreading the ball around to the receivers gives this team an added punch because everyone gets utilized in this scheme. The defense has done nothing but force turnovers more specifically picks which they did last year as well. This team could take the 1 seed in the conference again.
[Prev. Rank: 3]
6.) Carolina Panthers (3-1)
When you think about elite backs and the fact that this Panthers team has a couple in its backfield it shows why the run game is important. Since losing week 1 to the Giants the Panthers have been finding ways to win games since. So many tough matchups early on for this team having played playoff teams from last year 3 of the 4 games. The defense hasn’t really been good though which is where this team definitely needs to improve. With a rookie starting at each level of the defense the learning curve has been pretty steep. Cam is playing good efficient football which in combination of the run game has the ball control offense going and with Moore making plays on the outside this team could do good things this season.
[Prev. Rank: 13]
7.) Chicago Bears (3-1)
Chicago has shown early why they made the NFC Championship last year with strong play early. Jordan Howard is getting it done on the ground and the defense is getting big stops on big downs. Trubs has started the season looking like he has taken the steps to man this offense and lead this team to wherever they go, especially with Allen Robinson and Trey Burton playing like they are. Roquan has proven that he is one of the best young players in the league as he’s putting together another impressive campaign for this Bears team and getting this defense to play at a solid level. The numbers don’t necessarily reflect just how good this team has been and I think they will continue to play at an at least good level for the season.
[Prev. Rank: 4]
8.) Arizona Cardinals (3-1)
Out in Arizona it’s all about defense and that’s what this team has made very clear with the trades and signings this team has made over the course of the last season to now. Khalil Mack and Chandler Jones have the pass rush at an elite level and the reigning league MVP Reddick has been forcing turnovers all over the place. The offense is coming along as well with Rosen playing solid football but Christian Kirk playing out of his mind with Mack churning out a solid rushing attack. This coach has a very tough defensive mindset which I think will be a big part of this season just like it was a big part to last season’s hot finish. This team should continue to get better and if the offense gets anywhere near as good as the defense then that could be trouble for the league.
[Prev. Rank: 11]
9.) Kansas City Chiefs (2-1)
The Chiefs have an early bye so it’s tough to really gauge off the 2-1 record but they played well even in their first game against an elite Jags team where the score doesn’t quite depict the tightness of the game. This coach has this team playing his type of style which is tough, hard nosed defense with good ball control on offense. Mahomes has been playing like the QB that he was expected to be when the Chiefs traded up for him which is a great sign that goes with Hunt doing really well on the ground. Perine and Thomas have complimented Hunt well which also helps. Tyreek and Travis Kelce continue to make Mahomes job easy as they find ways to get open constantly. With such a balanced team the Chiefs can cause problems this season.
[Prev. Rank: 10]
10.) New England Patriots (3-1)
Jumping all the way from a preseason ranking of 23 we have the New England Patriots who have been the surprise team so far this season. This Patriots squad has been playing really well with a new QB at the helm as Jameis became the successor to Tom Brady. This offense has been flowing as they’ve had not only Jameis playing well but Michel crushing it in his 2nd season with Dez Bryant reviving his career and Gronk holding it down at TE. The defense has done a solid job as they’ve just had to get the ball back to the offense with the rate they’ve put points up. This Pats team looks good early on in a division race that’s looking like it will be a tight race to the finish. I think the Pats can continue to play well and keep this going.

1.) Jacksonville Jaguars
The first team in league history to accomplish the elusive feat of 19-0 will bring in the new season as the number 1 team. Seeing as how this team won the Super Bowl unblemished and did nothing but get better over the offseason, they are once again the early favorites. This team did well in the draft finding some really good rotational pieces to fit into this already great team. The biggest concern is the QB position once again as Blake Bortles has been known to be inconsistent from season to season. Even with that small concern this team looks ready to make another run at a title as the next record they look to break is the 32 game win streak. Be on the lookout for how this team picks up how they left off as they look to capture another AMLoB title.
2.) Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have plenty of young talent and drafted some more pieces to be a part of this already young group. Josh Dobbs is looking to take another step in his development as he approaches his second year as a starter. With such high expectations there is a lot this team has to live up to this season. The defense definitely has to show last season’s form and Melvin Gordon will be needed to help take the load off of Dobbs as he continues to progress for this team. The Chargers season to start has 4 division opponents, and a first place finishing last season Bills team that will be tough to knock off. 13-3 will be a hard thing to replicate but with the talent on this team and this coach I think they can make it happen once again.
3.) Detroit Lions
The Lions turned out a 14-2 season last year before losing to their division rival Bears in the divisional round last year with a less than stellar team as this coach has done in the past. As they look forward to this season after an offseason where they barely lost a bidding war for big time FA RB Ajayi, and didn’t quite have the draft they wanted, they look to repeat as division champions. A lot of this team is still in place from the success of last season and will be led by Matthew Stafford once again as they look for Kerryon to get going on the ground like he was early last season. The defense looks to pick up where they left off with their ability to force turnovers at a ridiculous rate. This coach feels this team can contend so we’ll see if they can show it in their play.
4.) Chicago Bears
Although their regular season wasn’t viewed very highly last year, they definitely made noise in the postseason as they fought all the way to the championship game that ended with them losing to the surging Giants at the time. This team has plenty of young pieces that they expect to get better this season on both sides of the ball. They had a solid draft with picking up a couple guys that could potentially come in and make an immediate impact. In Trubs 3rd year he looks to prove that he’ll be worthy of a deal as it expires in the season following this one. Jordan Howard looks to come back and make a big imprint on this team as well after his solid year last season. This Bears team should find a way to get it done this season especially with a proven coach in this league leading.
5.) New York Giants
The NFC champion Giants definitely want to not only get back to the Super Bowl but this time actually take it home. This team looks to have taken another step forward this offseason as they added to the core that got them to the Super Bowl last season. The major concern for this team is the consistency which they didn’t have last year with stretches of dominance and stretches of bad play. Lauletta looks to cut down on his pick number from last season and Saquon is ready to carry the load of the offense to do that. Evan Engram also looks to pick up where he left off last season as this team’s top target along with OBJ who wants to bounce back this season. Look for this squad to make a lot of plays with an explosive offense and solid defense to make another run at a Super Bowl.
6.) Cleveland Browns
The Browns ended the regular season hotter than anyone last season with 10 straight wins before a loss in the wild card round where it’s been rumored that the team quit on the coach. Well with Baker Mayfield back to show that he won’t have a sophomore slump I think this team can compete again. Most of this team’s young core is back as well as some selections in the draft that can contribute immediately including the 3rd round selection Nick Levels, the kicker that was highly coveted from the draft. This coach hopes to get more contribution from Nick Chubb this season as the run game was extremely bad and inconsistent last season. The regular season is where this coach figured out and does it well so we’ll see if he can do it again.
7.) New Orleans Saints
This team is returning for the most part, but the biggest thing that’ll be missing is their valiant leader of the last 13 seasons Drew Brees. That’s a huge loss for a team that went 13-3 and won the tough NFC South last year. This coach is hoping that Teddy can come in a bridge the gap til this team finds the QB they want to move into the future. Windows in the league are small and this team is trying to make sure they take advantage of that. The defense should be strong once again with Cam Jordan and Lattimore leading the way up front and in the secondary to go along with the acquisition of Jaire in the offseason. Also the acquisition of Ajayi in an already crowded backfield was a questionable move but should work out. It’ll be interesting to see if Teddy keeps this team afloat.
8.) Buffalo Bills
The Bills will come back pretty much intact after an offseason with a lot of moves around the league. The coach and the fans of this team are hoping that Josh Allen takes the next step in his development to be the QB of the future for this team as they hope to build on the success of last year. With not much help from the draft this team plans on playing similar to last year as they look to win the AFC East once again. The defense is where this team should really shine as they have improved with the addition of Navarro Bowman to bring veteran leadership and ability to this LB group. Tremaine Edmunds is primes and ready to have a big year again after crushing it in his rookie season as he continues to develop into an elite LB. This team should be good to watch.
9.) Baltimore Ravens
After having arguably the most explosive offense in the league last season, the Ravens look to continue to build from that feat. This team struggled down the stretch last year but hoping that they can regain the prowess they had most of the season last year is their focus. Didn’t have a great draft but drafted a couple guys that can fit into this system and work well. Lamar Jackson looks to come back even better in his 2nd year after a very impressive rookie campaign that most players couldn’t touch or come close to. The biggest loss this team suffered was not bringing back Collins which they hope that Spencer Pickett can bring the other element to the backfield they had with Abdullah and Collins. Look for this team to compete again this season.
10.) Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are coming into this season after going 9-7 last year and retaining a lot of their pieces. They had a solid draft as they picked up some guys that can fit right into the culture this team has built. In order for this team to perform at optimal level though, Patrick Mahomes has to play like he’s the QB this team needs especially with the fact he’s due for a contract the season following this one. He has the weapons to be great so it’ll be interesting to see if he can take the next step in his development for this offense. The defense is where this team really prides itself as they lock opponents up a lot of the time. The defense is an older bunch in a few positions but they still find ways to make plays all over the place especially with Eric Berry flying around. Another team to watch here.
