1.) Jacksonville Jaguars (4-0)
Continuing on their run of dominance from last season, the Jags have looked great early on at 4-0. With a big part of the meat of their schedule early this team has been very impressive so far. Bortles isn’t quite playing at the level he was last season but Fournette has been a straight beast on the ground for this team as he’s done a lot to keep this offense going with his work on the ground. The defense is playing at an elite level once again which is to be expected from a group as talented as they are. This Jags team has played to its strengths so well with ball control and strong defense as they continue to punish opponents. With a strong start a quarter of the way through the season, this could bode well for another strong run this season.

2.) Buffalo Bills (3-1)
The Bills have been playing at a great level so far this season starting off 3-0 before their first loss which was a close one at home to Baltimore. Josh Allen is looking like the quarterback that he was drafted to be by this franchise in the 2018 draft. Shady has handled the work on the ground and looks to help take the pressure off the young QB as he continues to grow. Corey Coleman has been Allen’s favorite target so far as he’s built a great rapport with the QB dating back to last season. The defense is where this team has really shined though, just racking up sacks and forcing turnovers with the secondary as it’s either a coverage sack or quick pressure picks. The Bills have looked great so far and look better than they were at this point last season.

3.) New York Giants (3-1)
The reigning NFC champion has played solid football this season even though they still have some of the inconsistency issues they had last year. Saquon has officially established himself as an elite back in the early part of the season as the production for him has spiked from last season. Lauletta is playing better than last year so far with only 3 picks to 6 TD’s at the moment. The good things about this squad come down to the offense a lot of the time as Evan Engram and OBJ have complimented the great ground game being big time targets for Lauletta. The rookie Perry Raymond has done a lot for this defense as he and Vernon have gotten great pass rushing opportunities with their play so far. The Giants look like they can make a run again if they can be consistent.

4.) Cleveland Browns (4-0)
This coach has declared this season as “the Era of Chubb” which isn’t really a stretch with how well he’s played so far. Baker has played solid football but hasn’t been the story of the offense and its elite Rushing attack. Between Chubb and Johnson they’ve put up great numbers and will look to continue their great play throughout the season. The defense hasn’t been great this year overall but their ability to stop the run has been one of the best things so far this year. EJ Gaines has been great for this secondary with 4 picks and a TD already. Garrett is doing a solid job with 4 sacks so far so the pass rush is ok. With how well they’ve played this team looks like a contender early in the regular season, so let’s see if they can keep it up.

5.) Detroit Lions (3-1)
The Lions have been about as good as anyone so far into the season. Playing stifling defense and the offense flowing in the air and on the ground has this team looking like they can take the 1 seed in the conference again. Starting off with the less strenuous part of the schedule they have gotten off to a great start. Stafford has continued to play solid early just like last season and Kerryon is not only healthy but he’s making plays in the run game again which is huge for this offense. Spreading the ball around to the receivers gives this team an added punch because everyone gets utilized in this scheme. The defense has done nothing but force turnovers more specifically picks which they did last year as well. This team could take the 1 seed in the conference again.

6.) Carolina Panthers (3-1)
When you think about elite backs and the fact that this Panthers team has a couple in its backfield it shows why the run game is important. Since losing week 1 to the Giants the Panthers have been finding ways to win games since. So many tough matchups early on for this team having played playoff teams from last year 3 of the 4 games. The defense hasn’t really been good though which is where this team definitely needs to improve. With a rookie starting at each level of the defense the learning curve has been pretty steep. Cam is playing good efficient football which in combination of the run game has the ball control offense going and with Moore making plays on the outside this team could do good things this season.

7.) Chicago Bears (3-1)
Chicago has shown early why they made the NFC Championship last year with strong play early. Jordan Howard is getting it done on the ground and the defense is getting big stops on big downs. Trubs has started the season looking like he has taken the steps to man this offense and lead this team to wherever they go, especially with Allen Robinson and Trey Burton playing like they are. Roquan has proven that he is one of the best young players in the league as he’s putting together another impressive campaign for this Bears team and getting this defense to play at a solid level. The numbers don’t necessarily reflect just how good this team has been and I think they will continue to play at an at least good level for the season.

8.) Arizona Cardinals (3-1)
Out in Arizona it’s all about defense and that’s what this team has made very clear with the trades and signings this team has made over the course of the last season to now. Khalil Mack and Chandler Jones have the pass rush at an elite level and the reigning league MVP Reddick has been forcing turnovers all over the place. The offense is coming along as well with Rosen playing solid football but Christian Kirk playing out of his mind with Mack churning out a solid rushing attack. This coach has a very tough defensive mindset which I think will be a big part of this season just like it was a big part to last season’s hot finish. This team should continue to get better and if the offense gets anywhere near as good as the defense then that could be trouble for the league.

9.) Kansas City Chiefs (2-1)
The Chiefs have an early bye so it’s tough to really gauge off the 2-1 record but they played well even in their first game against an elite Jags team where the score doesn’t quite depict the tightness of the game. This coach has this team playing his type of style which is tough, hard nosed defense with good ball control on offense. Mahomes has been playing like the QB that he was expected to be when the Chiefs traded up for him which is a great sign that goes with Hunt doing really well on the ground. Perine and Thomas have complimented Hunt well which also helps. Tyreek and Travis Kelce continue to make Mahomes job easy as they find ways to get open constantly. With such a balanced team the Chiefs can cause problems this season.

10.) New England Patriots (3-1)
Jumping all the way from a preseason ranking of 23 we have the New England Patriots who have been the surprise team so far this season. This Patriots squad has been playing really well with a new QB at the helm as Jameis became the successor to Tom Brady. This offense has been flowing as they’ve had not only Jameis playing well but Michel crushing it in his 2nd season with Dez Bryant reviving his career and Gronk holding it down at TE. The defense has done a solid job as they’ve just had to get the ball back to the offense with the rate they’ve put points up. This Pats team looks good early on in a division race that’s looking like it will be a tight race to the finish. I think the Pats can continue to play well and keep this going.
