We have reached Super Bowl week for AMLoB Super Bowl XXIV and we have a great matchup here between the Chiefs and Saints. The Chiefs have been the comeback kid’s of the postseason with 2 comeback victories including a 4 minute swing to win the game 21-20 late in the 4th in the AFC Championship Game. This offense has been rolling in the passing game with Mahomes connecting with Hill and Hardman consistently this season. Also the addition of Mack has proven to be a huge move as he has led this defense into new territory with his ability to make plays on the edge in the Chiefs bend but don’t break system on defense. The Saints on the other hand have been led by 2nd year sensation Blake Motl who has led this team to a 2nd super bowl appearance in the last 4 seasons, following in Brees footsteps before him. The Saints just have been consistent in finding ways to win football games even with one of the best weapons in AMLoB out for the 2nd half of the season with injury. Trequan has really come on as a number 2 and Motl has been great slicing and dicing defenses. When it comes to the other side of the ball for the Saints, the defense is flat out elite especially with pass defense. This team is loaded with superstars on that side of the ball and it has been shown that they are every bit of the greatness they portray.
Now getting into the game, I think this game will be a great defensive battle as the Saints have the pieces on defense to matchup with the Chiefs and vice versa. The Saints will have to find a way to guard the trio of Hill, Hardman and Kelce with the playmaker Mahomes finding ways to beat a defense constantly. With pieces like the Saints have I believe they can matchup well though with Lattimore and Westry on the outside, CJ and Marcus Williams at Safety and Pool and Anzalone at LB on top of the elite pass rush from Davenport and Jordan. For the Saints offense, they have Mike Thomas who is a mismatch for most secondaries along with the emerging Superstar Trequan as a number 2 guy. No Kamara can hurt the Saints but Merriam performs at an elite level at TE to offset the pass catching and Harris can be solid on the ground. The secondary for the Chiefs is great with Fuller and Jones holding down the outsides and an elite pass rusher with Mack and an up and coming one with Garrett.
Overall this should be a great game with some great moments on both sides of the ball for each team, but I think the Saints defense is so elite that they will make the game defining play to pull off the W.
Score Prediction:
Chiefs: 20
Saints: 24
