Prime's Season 72 Draft
DB Recap
How They Hanging?
Special
Guess Who’s Back? No it ain’t Em, man. We bout that Rakim Life over here, baby! Now say it with me now… Priiiime Tiiiime.. Priiiime Tiiiime…
Season 72 is underway. And we’ve seen plenty of our usual High Drama that is only Red Zone Football, man. Every year a new crop of DBs enter the league in hopes of Stardom. These are MY GUYS, baby. I’m EXCITED by some of the Defensive playmaking I’ve seen so far. But some of these guys ain’t lighting my fire, man. Haha! Lemme break down the Top DB Selections of the Red Zone Rookie Draft of Season 72! Let's Get To It, baby!
_____
Delvin Ettiene - CB
8th Pick - Steelers
Drafted 75 ovr Star / Currently 76
Delvin was the 1st DB taken in the RZ72 Draft. So expectations were high, man. Afterall, DBs don’t typically go Top 10 in RZ like yours truly (5th) unless they are destined for greatness.. Like me, I'm different. I’m Priiiime (flashes smile)... Ettiene hasn’t exactly set the world on fire, man. With 37 total tackles, 1 TFL and 3 breakups. It's not easy to justify his high selection just yet. He’s played solid so far. But at #8 Overall, you looking for FIREWORKS, baby! One things for sure though, the kid can tackle. We’ll see how the rest of RZ72 shapes out for him.
_____
Lance Rhodes - CB
22nd Pick - Colts
Drafted 72 ovr Star / Currently 73
This one was a little bit of a head scratcher when the card came down. I mean, Indy has several vets in place at the position. So I was a little worried about this kid's burn. And I was right. Thru Week 7 he only has 118 snaps under his belt. That’s really not enough snaps to justify taking him when your DB room is already crowded. He has a measly 10 total tackles and 1 breakup. Coach Carpenter gotta figure this out, man. That 1st year development is crucial for DBs. And this kid is in REAL DANGER of losing that Star Status he came into the league with.
_____
Mike Garvin - SS
29th Pick - Vikings
Drafted 72 ovr Star / Currently 74
One could argue that Garvin went to the best situation he could hope for in the Draft. A defensive minded coach on a defensive minded team. Ready out the box. And will certainly be used to the fullest year 1. Coach Astin threw him into the fire, Day 1. And it's been a perfect fit for this young man. With 45 total tackles, 2 TFLs, 3 picks, 6 breakups, 2 FF. Yeeeaaa you heard it, man. This kid’s a Stat Stuffer early in his career. And this will translate to MASSIVE development early. And at 6’3” with 91 speed, this kid will be a menacing Superstar very soon. The Rich get Richer in Minnesota.
_____
Devante Frye - CB
32nd Pick - WFT
Drafted 75 ovr Normal / Currently 76
This kid was a MONSTER at Tulane. And he came into the league with the best intangibles in the DB Draft Party. A 6’3” Shutdown CB with 91 speed. He was a starter as soon as they wrote his name on the card, baby! The only thing that could POSSIBLY hold him back is slow development. But I don’t think that’s a problem for Coach Chapstick. 4o total tackles, 1 TFL, 1 pick, 5 breakups from the last player taken in Round 1? That’s good ball from your rookie. Dev or Not… He’ll be one of the best DBs in the league.
_____
Damarious Atkins - CB
43rd Pick - Vikings
Drafted 74 ovr Normal / Currently 74
Let’s face it. Coach Astin knows how to use his rookies. This shoulda been a value pick. A Depth Chart DB. But not here. Not for Astin. D-Act has 54 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 sack, 3 breakups, 1 FF, 2 FR, and 1 TD! Talk about Championship Pedigree. He’s been a mad man in the Nickel. I see no reason why this kid won’t be in the DROY convo at the end of the season. Right now he’s got my vote, man. And that Normal Dev won’t be Normal Dev for long, baby!
_____
Kevin Fleming - FS
47th Pick - Chiefs
Drafted 71 ovr Star / Currently 73
I gotta be honest here. I didn’t like this pick from the jump. I mean, Chiefs still got Thornhill. So I didn’t think the rookie would get much burn. But Coach KJ surprised me and gave him the nod over the vet. And it’s been a success. Fleming has flashed in that spot. 54 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT and 11 breakups! That's solid play from a rookie FS. I don’t see Honeybadger going anywhere even approaching 32. So you wonder what the Chiefs will do with Thornhill going forward. Cuz this kid is here!
_____
The Rest of the Field
The remaining picks saw a handful of notable DBs get selected. Most will be destined for backup positions and Special Teams. With names like SS Jamar Cadet (pick 58), CB Oscar Springs (67), SS Connor Murphy (69), FS Charles Claiborn (79), CB Donte Hughes (84), CB Tony Wroten (87) and FS Enrique Colvin (90) rounding out the 2nd and 3rd rounds. But it was Pick 78 that sparked my interest outta this bunch, man.
SS Dexter McDougal was a gem in the 3rd for the Titans! 75 overall! His Raw Measurables jumped out at me. This kid really coulda been the steal of the Draft in the right hands. The right situation. Even with only a Normal Dev. But, oh man, the kid is not seeing the kinda time he needs. And with a third of the season gone already, I don’t know if Coach Andy will utilize him. Shame shame, my man.
_____
More Than Honorable Mention (The Actual Steal):
CB Isaiah Ross out of Houston is a Hidden Gem for the Ravens. Selected at Pick 164, he wasn’t expected to be a Big Name. But with a Star Dev, 93 speed and other athletic measurables on a tall 6’2” frame. He’s been a pleasant surprise. And Coach Adelman has used him nicely, in all his Big Brained Wisdom. 21 total tackles, 4 picks, 5 breakups and 3 TDs! That's MASSIVE from a 5th Rounder. Potential DROY Thief here, baby!
Alright, RZ. Thanks once again for tuning into YO boy, Primetime.
This has been Primetime's “Season 72 Draft - DB Recap - How They Hanging?” Special. I'll be back later this season to check up on these boys, baby! Until then, Stay Safe and masked up out there, my people. And may all your days and football games be…

Prime's Season 70
Primetime Player Spotlight (Pt 4)
Back like MJ when he won 3 more! Back like Neo and The Matrix! Back like Coach Mayne Event, Coach Nick and Coach Tiko! RED ZOOOOOONE! It's PRIIIIIIIME! And we BACK for the Last Dance! I got Part 4 of my Season 70 Defensive Primetime Players. I’m bout to wrap this thang up like a carne asada burrito at ya favorite taco stand, man. Oowee! Lemme get extra green sauce, Miss Lupita! Ride with me RZ. Let me show you somethin’...
LA Rams
Aaron Donald is the Best Defender in the League, man. He’s been regarded as the Most Dominant Player today, and is virtually unstoppable in a 1 on 1 situation. But the problem is, even 2 people are outnumbered when they square up with the “Cheat Code”... He is the leader of the Rams Defense. And he makes 10 other guys better whenever he is on the field. Rams success depends on him. And he is always a favorite for MVP as a Defender, man.
B-More Ravens
The Ravens were a hard nut to crack, man. I coulda went a couple ways with all these Vets here. But I went with the youth movement here. Pat Queen is destined for greatness I don’t think even HE knows about yet, man. This season really could be his coming out party. He’s got solid teammates around him, that offenses hafta avoid, at each level. And they will basically funnel playmaking his way on a weekly basis. I’m looking for him to make a huge leap into Stardom!
Nawlins Saints
Another HOFer just waiting for his Green Jacket, man. And that’s a BIG Green Jacket, ha! He is the Unstoppable Force AND the Immovable Object. He is..
Cam Jordan. Thru all the changes the Saints defense has had thru the years, Cameron Tyler Jordan has been a mainstay. You build around that type of player. Day in, day out, you getting all the Cam you can stand. And THEN he heats up. Good luck, man. You really gonna need it.
The 12s
Most of yall got Wagner here I’m sure. And that wouldn’t be wrong. But hear me out. Mal will be your Hawks MVP on the D-Side. His coach has him lining up EVERYWHERE. He plays in the secondary. In the box as a extra LB. And in your backfield causing major problems. That’s gonna translate to Major Stat Stuffing, man. Mal is a True Gamer. Somebody better get him. Cuz yall made him mad on the East Coast. Now he’s in Seattle exacting Revenge with the 12s. SMH, man...
Steel Curtain
Trent Jordan Watt is a man possessed. Who wouldn’t be when you gotta uphold the Watt Family Name. TJ looks like the little brother that finally got fed up with the big bro bullying him. And kicked his butt. And then he went to the pros to kick some more. I would hate to be a signal caller opposite of this guy. I bet every QB in the league is looking at him saying “Water sucks.. It really really sucks!” And he’s just out here trying to give them some High Quality H2O.
Houston Texans
Yes I know what you thinking, man. A Rookie with “minimal skills?” How Prime?? So to answer that I gotta ruffle a few feathers. This Texans Defense is bad. They can’t get after the QB. So there’s gonna be a lot of passes flying around. Aashari Crosswell is a undercover playmaking safety. He flies to the ball. And he will get plenty of chances to do just that cuz QB’s are gonna test this young man. Big Mistake. His catch phrase to QBs prolly gonna be.. “You tried it.”
Remember the Titans
Kinda a recurring theme for this segment. A Safety making plays. Titans are in that position where they need players to cover up where they are lacking, man. Again, QBs are gonna test this secondary with Rookie DB Farley on that side. But that’s Kevin Byard's domain. And he protects it like a Male Lion protects his Pride. Kev B will be one of the TOP Free Safeties in the league this year. And he could help Nashville win the AFC South.
Minn Vikings
Find the ball. Take it away. Repeat. That’s what defenses are meant for. And Eric Kendricks is pretty good at it, man. The WHOLE middle of the field is his to roam. And he’s one of the best in the game doing it. And I mean the WHOLE Middle. You can’t throw in his area, or several yards behind it, without a violent collision or a swipe and go! His Play Rec puts him right in the mix of what you trying to do. So you might wanna rethink it, man. It’s up to you...
RZ! That’s it! We are done here! Thanks for sticking with me thru this journey! Cuz I know you didn’t have to. But I know you love ya boy Prime. And I love you back. I’ll be with y'all at the end of the season to review these Season 70 Primetime Players.
As always, Stay Safe out there my people. And may all your days and football games be…
Smoooove Like Priiiimetime..
Prime's Season 70
Primetime Player Spotlight (Pt 3)
Back like Finga Waves. Back like a Jeri Curl ???? Wassup RED ZONE! It's, Ya Boy, PRIME... And we BACK in the house for Part 3! Of my Season 70.. Defensive Primetime Players. Mmp, Mmp, Mmp.. Haha! I looove the game, man. And I got another Hot 8 for you. My Boys! The Defensive Team MVPs. Let’s get to it!
NY Football Giants
I’m gone be honest, man. This Giants D is gonna need somebody to step up and make some plays to get them off the field. Or else they’re gonna see alot of long drives against them. I can tell you most of those plays will be made by Jabrill Peppers. My man has sneaky speed and acceleration that puts him near the ball on most plays. So every pass play that goes to his side could be hawked and taken back the other way! And he also ain’t afraid to put his nose in at the LOS.
Jacksonville Jags
Myles David Jack is one of my favorite football players on the whole planet, man. He plays with so much Passion, man. He’s definitely an Alpha Dawg. And he’s been the Emotional Leader of this Pack for a while now. He’s gonna singlehandedly keep his team in more games than they should be in. If they can put some wins together it’s gonna be from his play. And that’s gonna put him in DPOY conversations.
The Jets
It’s rare that you see a game taken over by an interior D Lineman not named Aaron Donald. But I think this is gonna be a breakout year for my man, Q. He’s getting stronger and stronger up the middle. And that gonna translate to Disruption for Quinnen Williams. And Dysfunction for Offenses everywhere. Q prolly gonna get the call from me a couple times this season, man. Lol
Detroit Lions
The Motor City Cats are one of those teams that need a full team effort on Defense. No real big names here. But if there’s one player that can set the tone consistently, I see Trey Flowers getting it done, man. My man is just Relentless. And wins with his hands. If he can get enough help from his supporting class, he can help make this defense… Mediocre? Hey I just gotta be real, man.
GB Packers
I measure Primetime Players by more than just ability, man. Heart, Tenacity and the ability to raise the Heat Level on the field is a must! My man Za’Darius Smith got all the Juice. That’s why I picked him over Jaire. He’s a Showman. And you know Prime loves that. As he goes, so do the Pack’s D. You can avoid Jaire’s side of the field. But you can’t avoid Z. He’s gonna be Top 5 in Sacks this year. Screenshot it, man!
Carolina Panthers
Lemme start off by saying Brian Burns is a Beast. Ain’t no mistaking that. But when I think “Impact” I gotta go with my man, Haason Reddick. He affects the game like very few can these days. We always hear, “he’s too small”. Well I’m here to tell ya, Ready Reddick Took That Personally. And every week he’s gone cause Havoc for anybody standing between him and the man with the rock. Watch out for that Get Off, man!
The Pats
Even at 30, every time this man walks into a Stadium, he’s the best in the building. You gotta avoid the WHOLE side of the field he’s standing on, man. And that is dangerous ground for ANY QB. Pick 1 player you wanna erase from the game. And Stephon Gilmore will put him in his pocket for safe keeping. He’s the Destroyer of QB Ratings. The Definition of SHUT DAT SH*T DOWN.
Da Raidaz
This is one of my favorite young players in the league today. He’s a Modern Day Bobby Boucher. Just look at that smile! ???? Johnathan Abram is a Throwback Safety. He wants nothing more than to rearrange your mainframe! Big Time Collision Maker. He’s fast, angry and hungry to be listed on the Mt Rushmore of Raider Greats like Big Bad Willie Brown and Jack “The Assassin” Tatum. All Ballcarriers Beware.
Ok, RZ. That’s 3 down! 1 to go! Thanks for tuning in! Yo boy Prime will be back soon for the Final Installment to the Season 70 Primetime Players.
Look out for Part 3 Next Week! Until then, Stay Safe out there, my people. And may all your days and football games be…
Smoooove Like Priiiimetime..
Prime's Season 70
Primetime Player Spotlight (Pt 2)
Wassup RED ZOOOOOONE! Ya boy Prime is Back! And I brought Part 2! Of my Season 70 Defensive Primetime Players, man. These next 8 bring the HEAT! At ALL Times! And they will make the biggest Impact for their teams this season. Some REAL Defensive Playmakers in this bunch. Lesssss GO!
KC Chiefs
If you know his HC’s Pedigree, you would guess that Chris Jones would be the guy here. But THIS is a Different RZ. So Chris will hafta work a lil harder. ???? Enter The Honey Badger. My man TUUUFFFF on WRs. He’s Aggressive! And he will live in your backfield. An Absolute Ballhawk that will rough you up and take the ball away. Tyrann Mathieu is a Bad Man...
Indy Colts
Darius “Maniac” Leonard is a MANBEAST, man! Ever since he came into the league, Offenses have had to scheme against HIM. You better find him, boss! Or else 1, or all of y'all are headed to the sideline and Colts Offense is taking over. My man brings the WOOD wherever he goes. And it's All Gas No Brakes… You run it. You pass it. Brotha comin…
THE Dallas Cowboys
I know this is low hanging fruit. Dem Boys don’t have a ton of XFactors on this side of the ball. They play as a team! But Demarcus Lawrence is the MAN here. El Jefe. IF he can stay healthy, look for “Tank” to roll over your QBs and blast your RBs all season, man. He comes screaming off that edge! When that tank starts heating up it’s time to Rumble. Rumble young man, Rumble.
Miami Dolphins
Yes I chose 2 players here. It's MY list! And this is a 2 headed Monsta! Howard and Jones is like a Buddy Cop Movie. They will lock you up, man! They are big. They are physical. They will HAWK your Receivers, man. Definitely the best tandem in the league. And QBs might wanna rethink testing either of them. Go ‘head and look for them TEs instead ????????
Philly Eagles
The Future HOFer. The Living Legend. If he’s still an Eagle by season's end, (cuz I did see my man was OTB), this will be another curtain call for this OG. The Ageless One. He’s Unstoppable up the middle, man. Double teams and your RB won’t help. If he want ya, he gone get ya.. My only question here is.. Why would you get rid of this man??
My Dirty Birds
This Falcons Defense is young and fairly inexperienced. And they will rely on their Leader to get them in the right spots. And they will need him to make plays. Deion Jones is that Leader. And he will Make Plays. Look for him to be all over the field. At all levels. He might lead this team in Tackles, Sacks AND INTs! And you think I’m playing, man! ????
WFT
This WHOLE DEFENSE is good. Really Good. They got Playmakers everywhere. But this Chase Young fella.. He’s something else! He’s got the Ghost of Reggie White in him. With a lil sprinkle of LT “dust” to get his motor running.. I think this year will be his coming out party. And he’ll be an XFactor by the end of the season. Mmp.. Mmp.. Mmp.. I feel sorry for your Quarterbacks...
The 49ers
Ah Ha! I got you! You thought it was a Bosa Brother Party up in this house, didn’t ya? No sir! Yes he will make an impact. But the BIGGEST Impact will be felt from Mr Federico Anthony Warner. My man is Pure Dynamite. He bout to blow up your whole Gameplan. Yall better have some Plan B’s and C’s, man. Look for Fred at the TOP of the DPOY Award.
Alright, RZ. Thank you for tuning in to YO boy, Primetime’s, Season 70 Primetime Players (Part 2).
Look out for Part 3 Next Week! Until then, Stay Safe out there, my people. And may all your days and football games be…
Smoooove Like Priiiimetime..
Prime's Season 70
Primetime Player Spotlight
RED ZOOOOOONE! We Back Baby! It’s yours truly, Primetime.. Season 70 is here! Seems like I been gone FOREVER! Coaching College kids was fun. But now I’m back where I belong. THE ILLUSTRIOUS Red Zone Football League. I’m EXCITED to bring you the Season 70 Defensive Primetime Players, man. These boys ain’t PLAYIN, MAN! These are the fellas that will make an Impact for their teams this season. But it might not be who you think!
Let's Get It!
Chicago Bears
Most probably got Big Mack right here. But not yo boy Prime. Don’t get me wrong. Khalil bouta go ham this season. But it’s Roquan Daevon Smith who’s gonna be the Battery to this Bears Defensive Machine. He’s LITERALLY EVERYWHERE on the field. And with the secondary being the weakest link, look for him to contribute heavily to the pass defense.
Cinci Bengals
Jessie Bates III been a Baller since Day 1 in the League. 100+ tackles in each of his 3 seasons, man! My man is a Rangy Ballhawk who shows up at all 3 levels of the field. Look for him to attack your QB, harass your RBs in the box, and swipe the rock from your pass catchers!
Buffalo Bills
I know y'all looking at me like, How Prime?? With this secondary that includes Tre White, Micah Hyde, and Poyer. But here’s the thing, man. BIG ED OLIVER WILL CAUSE HAVOC FROM HIS DT SPOT. He’s gonna be the reason this secondary will be Top 5. He’s Angry. He’s Disruptive. And he’s HONGRY. Mark my words, he’s gonna be flexing in a backfield near you!
Denver Broncos
Denver’s Secondary is STACKED, man. They got 5 guys at CB that could probably start on most teams. K-Jack is aging at SS, but still a baller. But it's Justin Simmons who is the Alpha of this bunch, man. He’s a Seasoned Vet now. And in command of the skies. It’s the INSTINCTS for me! He knows where you going when you break the huddle, man! Watch him work.
Cleveland Browns
No surprises here! Myles Lorenz Garrett is a Science Project.. Everything you wanna do on Defense you do thru him, man. He absolutely makes everyone on that side of the ball better. He’s gonna wreck a lot of Offenses this year. And every year after that. Guard your QB (and his helmet) with your LIFE!! He will lead the RZFL in sacks, hurries, and roughing calls this season, man. BOOK IT!
Tampa Bay Bucs
This one was tougher. The Bucs Defense is LOADED. Might be the best Defense in the League. But I had to go with the Ring Leader. The QB of the D. Mr Lavonte David. Even at 31 he is still Primin’ baby... You would be wise to avoid throwing in the middle of the field without looking for him 1st. He the Troll that Demands the Toll, baby! Just avoid his bridge all together, man.
AZ Cardinals
I know, I know. So many bigger names here. But repeat after me…
ISAIAH SIMMONS IS NOT HUMAN! He is a Cyborg. We ALL know what he can do. Those other names are just gonna help him do it better! This young man bout to Run Amok.. Having all those Vet Stars around him gives Simmons free room to roam. That’s Dangerous, man.
LA Bolts
Let’s just be honest here, man. The only thing that’s ever stopped Joey Bosa from getting your QB, is Joey Bosa’s Health. When he’s on the field, your QB goes down. And he goes down hard.. Look for this Bosa Brother to be at the top of the sack leader board fighting for the #1 spot. He has almost all the abilities. All he needs is Availability, and your pass play.
Alright, RZ. Thank you for tuning in to YO boy, Primetime’s, Season 70 Primetime Players (Part 1).
Look out for Part 2 coming soon! Until then, Stay Safe out there, my people. And may all your days and football games be…
Smoooove Like Priiiimetime..
Prime: Wassup RZ Nation. We got something different for you this week. Today we visiting the City of Brotherly Love. We got 3 Time Back to Back to Back SB Champ, Coach Staley! Wassup baby!?
Coach: You know, going over tape, plays and preparing to face New York Week 4.
Prime: That's wassup, man. I got 10 questions for you, Champ. You ready?
Coach: Yes sir, fire away!
Prime: Excellent, my man. So, 3 straight SB wins for you and the Philadelphia Eagles! How does it feel to be the very best team in the RZ 3 years running?
Coach: It's a blessing to have the success we've had over the past 3 seasons. We've kept the right players in place, found talent on Practice Squads, been lucky with injuries and protected the football well. If you game plan well, have a talented defense, protect the ball, it usually equals out to success and that's what it's been like this past 3 seasons. There are plenty of talented teams in the league, we are just lucky to be a part of that group.
Prime: Ok. So be honest, man. Are you the best coach in the RZ? And are you a HOF coach in your opinion?
Coach: Am I the best coach in RZ? I'd have to say no, there are multiple SB winning coaches in this league. To say I'm better than them would be disrespectful. I'll leave the HOF conversation up to my peers. I think I've been around long enough and have done enough, but if I haven't I haven't. Its fine, I’m just here to coach Football.
Prime: Nice, coach. I'm gonna say yes, and yes. I ain't shy. Haha! Is there more pressure on you, or less pressure on you to repeat again this year?
Coach: The pressure of going and winning the 3rd was a lot, I’d say the pressure has calmed from that. We don't need to prove ourselves I think, I know we are a good football team. We take the games one at a time, talking about a 4th this early is crazy.
Prime: Crazy. But I bet you and the boys be dreaming of that 4th Lombardi, man! Ha! Who do you think has the best opportunity to upset you as Champs this season?
Coach: I'd honestly say in the NFC, the 49ers, they are a different team than 3 seasons ago and they have a very great coach and defense. In the AFC, I’d say the Ravens again. We've faced them twice in three seasons in the Super Bowl. So right now they the team to beat in that Conference.
Prime: I agree, man. Both tough teams. But watch out for dem Jets, coach. So, man. What's your philosophy, brotha? What's gotten you to this level of Domination?
Coach: Patience. Watching plenty of game tape on your opponent. Defense. Trying to get the run game going. Ball security and control the clock. Etc., Etc.
Prime: What's it gonna take for you to 4peat? What's your biggest focus or opportunity to improve?
Coach: We need to adjust to our new offense that we added this year. We need Wentz to be more accurate and we need the offense to just open up. We've struggled offensively this season. Fix that and we may have a shot at at least the Division.
Prime: Who's your favorite player on offense and defense, NOT wearing an Eagle uni, bruh?
Coach: My favorite player's not wearing the Eagles uniform, hmm. Well I’d say Jameis Winston. He reminds me of Carson. They both do well act protecting the football. Defensively, I’d say Von Miller. The way he just disrupts offenses. We'd love to have him here.
Prime: Famous Jameis and Don Juan Von Miller. Two of my favorites, man. Nice. If you had a chance to coach any other team today, which team would it be?
Coach: Well as a child my AFC team was Denver. Even played little league football for the Broncos. Was a blast, haha! So I’d say being able to coach Denver would be fun and interesting.
Prime: Mile High Staley. Haha! Ok. So I heard you had a very interesting conversation with the President after this year's SB. Can you tell us what it was about?
Coach: How did you find out about that, haha? Well yes, I’m big into the Super Volcano at Yellowstone. I usually check the news on it once a day. I asked what plans are in place for the future of our children and grandchildren if it does decide to go. Well you know the answer to that. He wasn't able to discuss, just patted me on the shoulder saying don't worry, we got it handled.
Prime: Haha! I got people, man. Haha! Good, man. Somebody gotta look at for the Children, Man! Ok. How many more Lombardi’s do you think you will get this cycle? You gonna give somebody else a chance to win? Haha!
Coach: Well our goal is to win every year, who's isn't really. We'd love to at least get one more before the cycle ends. Lol, yes we want to see other teams succeed and get a Lombardi. I bet it gets boring seeing the same team win it every year.
Prime: Haha! Only if you on the losing team, baby! Excellent, my man. I'm glad we put this together, man. You are one of the best to ever do it. I really appreciate you giving me your time, brotha. I know how busy you are running a Championship Team, baby!
Coach: Thanks sir, always a privilege to speak to a HOF player.
Prime: Hey man. My pleasure. RZ Nation! That’s it for our special episode of 10 Questions, with the Future HOF Coach, Duce Staley, and ME... PRIMETIME. Peace yall!
Prime: It’s ya boy Prime! Back atcha, RZ Nation! This week we finally got ahold of the #5 pick in the RZ38 Draft. Bengals QB, Matthew Nagy! Wassup man? You know what it is. 10 questions, my man. Ready?
MN: Yes I'm ready.
Prime: Excellent, man. So after the Draft, you walked up to me and couldn’t hold in the emotions, man. You had some tough times in the past. Tell us what you were going through at that time, man.
MN: I grew up in a single parent home, so my mom deserves a lot of the credit. We struggled. My mom worked 2 and sometimes 3 jobs. I was the man of the house. I took care of my brother and sister. It was really tough. All my emotions came out draft night. My mother will never struggle again.
Prime: You jumped more than a few spots up from where you were projected? Did you have any idea that would happen?
MN: Yes, the Bengals hinted to me they were going to take me if I was available.
Prime: So you are a Mobile QB. One of the fastest ever in the League. Are you in the right scheme for your playing style?
MN: Coach made it clear that they would allow me to scramble. But not too much because I had some fumbling problems.
Prime: Yea, man. Gotta watch that Fumblerooski! This league is tough on Mobile QBs, man. How has coach Corn prepared you to stay injury free?
MN: He told me not worry about getting injured. That worrying about it would cause me to play tight. So I stay lose and just play my game.
Prime: Things just haven’t come together in Cincy. What do you think it will take to turn this Franchise around?
MN: I think a franchise QB like me would change Bengals misfortune. I just gotta work to help make everyone on my team better. That’s a Franchise QB’s job.
Prime: You got that right, man. So it appears you’re gonna have a high draft pick this offseason. What position would you like your GM to draft?
MN: Our team is set. I think just getting the new coach should help this season.
Prime: Some people say you’re too short to play the QB position. That you’re not as good as some of the past shorter guys. Not as good a passer as Brees. Not as good a runner as Vick. What do you say to that?
MN: Simple. Watch me..
Prime: Haha! Love it. Gotta have that Humble Chip on your shoulder, man. Been a lot of good QBs coming outta Pitt. What’s going on out there? Is Pitt the new Quarterback U?
MN: Dan Marino is the great one that taught me a lot. He is always at the Pitt facilities. I think just having him there raises the level of QB play at Pitt.
Prime: Dan, The Man! Prolly the best player never to get a ring, man. So who is the wildest player in your locker room? Craziest guy on the team?
MN: Vontaze is crazy Mofo. Sometimes I don’t know what that guy is thinking. Haha!
Prime: Haha! My dawg Vontaze is crazy like a FOX, baby! Haha! Ok. My Primetime Last Question, man. How big a house did you get moms, man?
MN: My mom is easy to please. I got her a 3 bedroom house. She loves the little things.
Prime: That’s wassup, man. Treat her to something special out the blue. She deserves it for all her sacrifices and hard work. Alright, my man. It’s been a pleasure! I wish you a great career, brotha.
MN: Thanks, Prime. Appreciate the time and conversation, sir.
Prime: Hey man. My pleasure. RS Nation! That’s another episode on 10 Questions, with ME.. PRIMETIME. And my new homie, Matthew Nagy. Peace and fish grease, RZ!
Prime: Wassup, RZ Nation! It’s ya boy Prime. I’m in Cheesehead City with the #6 pick in the RZ Draft. LB from Wisconson. Kristian Bitonio. Hey brotha.
KB: Hope all is well Primetime, it's an honor to be here with you right now.
Prime: Man I’m great, big dawg. Just livin my life in Primetime. :) You know the drill, my man. 10 questions. You ready to go?
KB: Can't wait to see what you've got for me!
Prime: #6 in the RZ Draft, man! Highest Packers Draft Pick since A.J. Hawk in 2006. How did it feel to go to go so high to such a rich Historic Franchise?
KB: Well this is a dream come true for me. Growing up in Milwaukee which is only about 2 hours away from the stadium. The day I was born my father placed a cheese head on me and I've bleed green and gold ever since. When I got that call from coach Tholstrup on draft day...Man. That was the greatest feeling in my life.
Prime: Man that has got to be the greatest feelin EVER, baby! So you came in with a lot of promise. Are you the 2nd coming of Clay Matthews?
KB: I only hope that I can be as great as Clay. That man was an absolute legend in the Green Bay front 7. I studied a lot of film on him in College and the pros and he's actually reached out to me a bit with some advice, which is amazing.
Prime: Class act, he is. True Legend. What has Clay taught you about the position so far? About being a pro?
KB: Most of his advice is to just take everything a day at a time. If you take an L make sure to understand what you did wrong and how you can improve on that the next time. On the being a pro aspect, you need that work/life balance and he's helped me figure out how and when certain things need to be handled.
Prime: Beautiful, man. Beautiful. You played High School ball in Milwaukee. College in Madison. Then drafted by Green Bay. How does it feel to be the hometown boy in the Big Leagues, man?
KB: Yeah it’s absolutely amazing. I came to my first game here when I was 5 years old and was awestruck. Green Bay is just an amazing place with amazing people and I show up to work every day with the biggest smile on my face because I'm literally living the dream that only a few players are able to live.
Prime: Livin the Dream… You guys had a tough season on Defense. Couldn’t seem to put it together to stop the opposing team’s offense. What are you doing to right the ship?
KB: You know we had our moments this last year. From my end I know I didn't play like I needed to 100% of the time. So going forward I know that if I put in my effort and start to see results. Hopefully that can feed to everyone else and then success should evolve out of that.
Prime: Ok, is there anyone that you would compare yourself to? Anyone that you have modelled your game like?
KB: I can't necessarily compare myself to anyone. However, like I said I've spent some time with Clay and watched a bunch of film. So I've tried to learn what I can from his game. When it comes to rushing the passer, I've watched a lot of film on Derrick Thomas because he could flat out get to the QB as a backer and that's something that I've devoted some time to getting better on.
Prime: Derrick was my true hero, man. One of the very best people I’ve ever met. And the greatest to ever do it. I hear your family owns several cheese dairies all over Wisconsin. What’s the best kinda cheese? What’s your favorite, my man?
KB: Ohhh man..that's tough...I've got to say that my personal favorite is Colby Jack but you can't go wrong with any of our 22 different varieties that we sell. I will tell you that Blue cheese is the one and only that I will not eat...Not sure what it is but I just can't do it.
Prime: Hahaha! Man I love 7 year Sharp Cheddar. My Gawd.. Haha! Have you got to Lambeau Leap yet? Is that on your To Do list?
KB: I haven't had the chance yet. I had the awesome first INT that I took to the house against Chicago in Chicago but nothing yet in GB. That first leap for me will be so special just knowing all the amazing players that I've seen from the stands make that awesome leap...Yeah, that first one will be pretty spectacular.
Prime: Dreams do come true, brotha. I’ll be watching for it. What goes through your head when you are running full speed at the QB on a Blitz, man?
KB: Probably a lot but what I can always remember is "do your job". I know that if I don't get to the QB then there's a good chance that I might cause a problem down the field. Everyone needs help to do their job and I need to do my part to make the team a whole.
Prime: Alright, man. And the Primetime Last Question, man. Did you buy yo mama a house, baby? How big?
KB: Actually the first thing I got her is the one thing she always wanted, the very first car her parents owned. I had someone track it down from a salvage yard and got it fully restored for her. I don't think I can remember my mom smile that big before.....well maybe other than when Jordy Nelson takes his shirt off hahaha!
Prime: Haha! Alright, man. Sounds like mama got some dollar bills ready for Jordy, baby! Haha! Cool my man. Yo, make sure mama gets that big house though, man. Thanks for visiting with me, brotha. This has been 10 Questions with Primetime. With Kristian Bitonio and ya bot Prime. We gone, baby!
Prime: Wassup RZ Nation. I'm in Miami with the #4 pick in the RZ38 Draft. A DB from Oklahoma. R.J. Horne. Wassup man?
Prime: Primetime… Primetime… 10 questions is BACK baby! I’m with the #2 pick in the RZ38 Draft. From Auburn University. QB Nash Zelenka from the Tennessee Titans. Wassup, man?
NZ: Hey Prime! What’s up with you?
Prime: Hey just coolin, man. Just coolin. You ready for 10 questions, my man?
NZ: Yessir!
Prime: ”Nashville” Zelenka. Auburn Tiger. Mr War Eagle himself. How did it feel to go #2, man?
NZ: Man it was surreal. You work your whole life for this moment. All the wind sprints. All the throwing drills. Late night practices. It all comes down to this. And I was nervous as hell, man. Haha. I puked more times than I can remember. Haha!
Prime: I know that’s right! Hahaha! I remember that day vividly. My butterflies had butterflies, man! So you got a lot of people focusing on you man. Mainly because of where you went. Is there pressure to perform in Tennessee?
NZ: It’s the RZFL, man. There’s ALWAYS pressure to perform. No matter where you go. And to be honest, I like the pressure. It makes me lock in. Dedicate time in the film room. Spend hours and hours throwing to my receivers after practice. Pressure is good, sir.
Prime: Nice. I like your mentality. But pressure busts the pipes too. Coach Brown received his fair share of criticism for “tanking” to get you. Word is, he had his eyes on you the very 1st day of recruiting. How do you feel about that?
NZ: Honestly, if he did tank, I’m happy he did. It says a lot about him that he would do everything he could to secure me. I liked Coach B from the start. I was born in Dresden. Not too far from Nashville. So I’ve watched Titan football from the beginning. And I was excited when Coach took over. He’s a Maverick. Very emotional guy. He probably hit me the hardest of anyone on day 1 of pad drills. Haha! I loved it! So it’s truly a dream to get to play professionally here. My whole family gets to go to the games.
Prime: Haha! Coach Brown is a real piece of work, that’s for sure. Some say you were born to play in Nashville, man. You won the Tennessee HS State Championship in a blowout. Then went on to post great #s and lots of big wins at Auburn. Is winning now important to you, knowing that this team was the 2nd worst team in the RZ last year?
NZ: Yes and no, man. Of course you wanna win every game you play. Or else we wouldn’t go out every week to strap it on and leave it all out there. But I’m here to help build a winner. And I’m here for the long haul. We wanna build a Juggernaut. A Dynasty. I see the fire in Coach Brown’s eyes. And I want the same thing he wants. So I’ll be patient, and impatient at the same time.
Prime: Coach Tiko has been doing a lot of shuffling and wheelin and dealin in the last couple weeks. Taking a lot of criticism. Everybody wants to know. Is he blowing it all up in Tennessee? Are you guys in a full rebuild?
NZ: This is a business. And Coach wants to put the best product out there. Things didn’t start as well as we’d like. So Coach made moves to get us weapons on both sides of the ball. He was in a unique situation where the CBA made him make tough choices. So he made a decision to use players to grab draft assets. I’m cool with that. I see the vision. And I’ve bought into it.
Prime: You replaced the traded Marcus Mariota. Another highly scrutinized move by your Organization. Was it tough to gain respect in the locker room after that? Tough to gain respect of the fans who adored MM?
NZ: Yea, it hasn’t been easy. I had to stop watching TV for a minute. Shade was everywhere. Marcus was loved here by many. And when they traded him even I was like ‘What are they doing?’ But then you put the pieces together that you were part of the plan. Coach wanted his own guy. A pocket guy. And like my man Mike McClure said, Winning fixes everything. So we will. We Will..
Prime: I heard you and Cam Newton are good buddies. Friends since your Auburn days. Rumor is yall went out on Draft Night to celebrate and he spent a ton on you. Can you tell America what yall did? What he buy you?
NZ: Man, Cam is my boy. He was at my final 3 games at Auburn. He was with me on Draft Night when the Titans called. He has been with me every step of the way for support. Love that guy. Yea we did it up on Draft Night. It was crazy. He took me to a late night tailor for some fittings. Same guy he uses for those post game outfits. Haha! Also a couple hats and some jewelry. But what we did? Man let’s just say our night was like Vegas. So I ain’t tellin ;)
Prime: Haha! What happens in Vegas, STAYS in Vegas, man. What’s on your Christmas List, man? What does “Nashville” Zelenka want most?
NZ: Well, first I wanna silence the critics. I want to finish this season strong and get to the playoffs. Would love to win the ship in my rookie season. Take home a few awards like ROTY. Then get some big ticket items in the offseason. Is that too much to ask? I think I’ve been a pretty good boy this year. Haha!
Prime: Man those sound good to me. Haha! Santa baby! You listening? What message do you have for your Titan Faithful, man?
NZ: Stay with us y’all. We are gonna figure this thing out. All we need is a little patience. You’re gonna get my best every single day. You can count on that. And I promise you, I’m always gonna motivate my teammates to do the same. Stay Strong. Titan Up!
Prime: That’s a great message. I like this young man yall. “Nashville” is going places! Ok. Last Question, man. And you know this is the Primetime Question. How big a house did you buy your mama, man?
NZ: My mom is a true Southern Belle. Born and raised in Tennessee. So I got her a HUGE Victorian Mansion. 10 bedrooms so she can entertain family for the holidays and get-togethers. And a guest house in the back for Aunt Maybelline and her country a** family. Hahaha! Wait, don’t print that. My mom is gonna kill me. Haha!
Prime: Hahaha! We all got that crazy Aunt with them bad a** kids, man. Haha! My man, Nashville Zelenka! Man, it’s been an absolute pleasure visiting with you, bruh. Good luck with those Titans, my man. I’ll be looking forward to calling you when you ball.
NZ: Thanks Prime. I really appreciate you having me, sir. Sorry mom! Haha. Later Prime. I look forward to your call too.
Prime: Later, my man. This has been 10 Questions with ya boy Primetime and Mr Nash “Nashville” Zelenka. We gone, Man!
Prime: RZ! We back for Season 38! It’s ya boy Prime, with the 1st 10 questions of the new year. We got the #1 pick in the RZ38 Draft. QB Mike McClure of the Carolina Panthers. How you livin, man?
MM: What’s good primetime! Thanks for having me. The past 3 months have been a whirlwind getting used to the league and what to expect on Sundays.
Prime: We gon get right into these 10 questions. You ready, brotha?
MM: Let’s do it!
Prime: Fasho. So you were, in most mocks, projected to go 30th. And you went 1st Overall! Were you surprised?
MM: Honestly, not really. Carolina called me after the Super Bowl and told me to be ready. I didn’t know what exactly that meant but knew it was time to hit the lab. I didn’t want to be a Ryan Leaf bust so I was motivated and honored to be in the conversation of #1 pick.
Prime: I was there with you on Draft Night, my man. And you and your family could barely contain your emotions. What did this mean to you and the fam, man?
MM: It’s a dream come true man. My mom worked 17 hour days to get me to this point and never complained once. She’s my hero and I’m so thankful I can start to pay her back for everything she’s done for me. I’m a quiet guy and to be put on the spotlight of #1, she’s helped me every step of the way so to have that moment with her... was truly amazing.
Prime: Mama McClure did a great job keeping you grounded. So #3 on the All Time QB Leaderboard at Pitt behind Dan Marino and Alex Van Pelt. What does mean to you?
MM: Pitt was an incredible experience for me. They gave me a shot out of high school when all the other D1 Schools turned their back on me. Pitt will forever be my Home and I hope I can make them proud of me. If I can finish my career with comparisons to Dan Marino, what more could a guy want?
Prime: I agree, man. You'd be in GREAT company! Your GM went out and got some proven talent this offseason to put around you. LeGarrette Blount, Dez Bryant, etc. What has that meant for you and your growth?
MM: Man.. Dez was a huge get for us at the last minute. When Aaron called me and told me they signed Dez to a one year contract right before week 1, I about cried. To have guys like Dez and Zay to rely on, it makes the game so much easier as a rookie. This offense has talent and I’m excited to see where it takes us this season.
Prime: What would you say has been the hardest thing to adjust to coming from College to the RZFL?
MM: The speed Man, it’s absolutely insane how athletic and fast this league is. Game 1 and 2 I built my confidence throwing 5 TD’s and 0 Picks. Then WHAM! Bucs come around and I have one of the worst games of my career. You can never let your guard down in this league and you have to continually learn or you’ll get left behind.
Prime: Yeeeaa boy! We got Dlineman running 4.5s! Watch Out Na! You replaced a very popular young QB in Cam Newton. Has that been tough for you? How has the fanbase received you?
MM: Yeah, that was rough. There were a lot of skeptics in Carolina and the Press wasn’t afraid to let me know it. Cam was Carolina and when they moved him to the Bills, this team went all in on building for the future. I’m thankful to the organization and the success is paying off. We’re 3-1 and tied for the division. I think the Carolina Media are starting to warm up. Winning fixes everything.
Prime: Yes it does. What motivates Mike McClure? What makes you strive for greatness? ROY? Playoffs?
MM: Winning. That’s the most important thing in the league and insures job security. Nothing is guaranteed in this league and it’s up to me to control how my career goes. The individual records mean nothing to me. I want success and success to me is getting to the playoffs, winning the division and competing for a super bowl.
Prime: What’s the 1st thing you bought after the draft? Big ticket item?
MM: Well I had to get the locker room on my side so I took my entire offensive line to the Bahaha’s for a little getaway. Those boys can eat and I may be 23, but I couldn’t keep up with them. Turner and Motan have some mad dance moves. Personally though I finally got my little Tesla.
Prime: You played college ball about 11 minutes from Steelers facilities. Have you had any relationship with Steeler players? Talk to Big Ben?
MM: Yeah actually. Ben is an incredible guy and someone that has shown heart and guts in the league. It’s unfortunate he couldn’t finish his career in Pittsburgh but that’s the NFL for you. It’s funny because Carolina looked at him before the draft and none of this would have happened if they signed him.
Prime: Last Question, brotha. And you know what it is, I’m sure. You buying mom a new house?
MM: Ha! I tried to buy her a house in Charlotte but she insisted on staying in Pittsburgh. My mom is stubborn and there’s no changing her mind once it’s set. She’d rather fly every Sunday then leave her 2- bedroom $100,000 house. She’s a dork but I love her to death. I’ll continue working on persuading her to head south.
Prime: Excellent, my brotha. Humble beginnings. Humble to the end, man. Alright, I appreciate you visiting with me, Mr. McClure.
MM: Thanks for having me man, this was fun!
Prime: Great luck this season and in your career! This has been 10 Questions with Primetime. We out!
Prime: RZ! What ya know? It’s ya boy Prime, back with 10 questions. Next up is the #6 pick in the RZ37 Draft. Rashawn Brockers, Washington Redskins new receiver. Say hello to the RZ, man.
RB: What’s up Prime.
Prime: Ready to answer these questions, brotha?
RB: Yeah let’s go
Prime: Bet, let’s go. So Rashawn. 1st receiver off the board. What did that mean to you, man?
RB: I knew I was the best WR in the draft. I wasn’t surprised at all.
Prime: You come from a long line of great Ohio State receivers. From Santonio Holmes, Ted Ginn Jr., Terry Glenn, Michael Jenkins, David Boston, Joey Galloway and the great Cris Carter. How would you rank yourself amongst those guys, man?
RB: I rank myself as the best. No disrespect to the others you named, but I will be wearing a gold jacket when it’s all said and done.
Prime: Love it, man. I believe in self-confidence. You were a Freshman during the National Championship run in 2014. Did you ever think that you could duplicate that feeling in your football career?
RB: Of course, I have no doubt in my mind.
Prime: You went to an owner and coach that covets speed at the wideout position. Did you think you could live up to their expectations from the very beginning?
RB: To be honest as soon as news hit that Coach Bird took the job in Washington I knew that’s where I wanted to go.
Prime: What’s it like playing for Coach Bird? Is he a hard man to please knowing his RZFL Pedigree?
RB: Playing for Coach Bird has been great. Coach Bird has taken me under his wing and taught me a lot about how to play the position.
Prime: Good man to learn from. He shook up the LG last cycle. The criticism out there is that you are a 1 route guy. Are you just a deep threat? Or can you be a #1 WR, every route kind of guy?
RB: This 1 route criticism is all hate by my competition. I am a true #1 and I run all the routes. Watch my games Prime I can be a deep threat but my goal is to be open every play to make Cousins game easy. So running all the routes is a must.
Prime: You’ve been compared as far as impact in the league to last cycle’s best WR, Davonte Tribble. Currently WRs coach in Tennessee. How do you feel about those comparisons? And have you spoken to him about how he dealt with the pressure week to week?
RB: To be honest Prime I haven’t watched many Tribble games but I heard he was a beast. I ran into him after our game against the Titans and he gave me some helpful tips on becoming great.
Prime: That man put fear in DB’s hearts. What’s next for Rashawn Brockers? What’s your next goal as a football player?
RB: There isn’t much to my goals other than winning and becoming the best.
Prime: Alright my man. Now seriously, is there any DB that can cover you? Is there any DB that you get intimidated lining up across?
RB: At first I thought the corners in NY we’re going to be a problem but both games they couldn’t handle me. Right now we haven’t beaten the Eagles so beating their secondary has tough on me.
Prime: That’s a monster of a defense right there. They’re tough on everybody. Last Question, brotha. And you know what it is, I’m sure. How big is your mom’s new house? I KNOW you hook her up with one, man! Haha!
RB: House? My mother has a mansion Prime she deserves the best I can offer.
Prime: Excellent, brotha. Get mom what she needs, man. Alright, I appreciate you visiting with me, Mr. Rashawn Brockers. Great luck the season and in your career! This has been 10 Questions with Primetime. I’m ya boy Prime. We out!
Prime: It’s ya boy Prime! Back atcha RZ Nation! We got the #5 pick in the RZ37 Draft. This time it’s Saints QB, Tucker Martin! Wassup brotha?
TM: Hey, how’s it goin? Always great to talk to a legend.
Prime: Man its going great. Feelin very Legendary today. You know what it is. 10 questions, my man.
TM: Heard I was doing this earlier in the week, been excited, real excited.
Prime: Excellent, man! I’m excited to have you here. I interviewed you after the Draft. And you were excited, to say the least. Why were you so excited, man? I figured it was a chance to learn behind a Legend.
TM: It’s a great experience you know? Living out a dream I've had since I was young, knowing I’m playing with a great group of guys that are hungry and ready to win.
Prime: That’s always a great thing man. Stay hungry. You ended up taking over for Drew. Was that surreal? Did you have any idea that would happen?
TM: Not really no, I mean, I got a feeling when I saw what New Orleans gave up to get me, but I didn't think it would be this soon. It was a very
intense moment.
Prime: This is a tough league, man. How has coach Panos prepared you for the rigors of the RZFL?
TM: Simple things, learning the offense, playing to my strengths, using my natural abilities to get out of the pocket and make plays.
Prime: Excellent, brotha. Master those simple things and the others will come naturally. You came up from the famed USC program. Did playing in that balanced offense they run hinder or help you in the RZFL?
TM: I would say it helped. You can never be too prepared for the big time. I came knowing the type of offense coach wanted to install. But I also had other skills I was able to hone throughout college.
Prime: Knowledge is Power. Have you had a chance to go out and experience Nawlins? Bourbon Street? What’s your favorite place to eat so far?
TM: I love Street Barbecue, I don't quite have a favorite place, but little spots that feel like home are always a pleasure.
Prime: Make sure you go to Mr B’s in the French Quarter, man. Tell em Prime sent ya for the Primetime Gumbo Special ;) Trust me. Who’s the best receiver in the RZ NOT on your team? Who would you love to throw the ball to?
TM: Antonio Brown. The guy makes plays for his team. He always knows where the markers are, and what needs to be done. Has been one of my favorites to watch for a few years.
Prime: One of the best to ever do it, man. Could be the best ever when it’s all said and done. How long did it take you to adjust to the huge playbook Coach Panos uses in Nawlins? What are some of the things you did to get up to speed from the College system?
TM: Not too long actually. A lot of the stuff coach implemented are things I was already accustomed to doing at USC. Coach told me the main thing was using my brains more than my arm, knowing when to check down, knowing when to run, things that all rely more on instinct.
Prime: Smart man. You got a good one to teach you the Pro QB Life. Rookies normally get hazed. But not so much at the QB position. Did you get hazed? Did you have to pay a huge check for a bunch vets?
TM: I had to wear a Drew Brees Jersey for about a month straight. I also had to pay for quite a few dinners during training camp.
Prime: Haha! Man those rookie paid meals can get expensive. I saw an Eagle rookie dinner bill for 64K! Somebody woulda caught these hands, man. Haha! I heard you’re a huge practical joker. What the biggest prank you’ve played so far on one of your teammates?
TM: Willie loves his hair, he uses a special product to keep it flowing like it does. Well, before a divisional game against the panthers, I put
a bunch of glue in his bottle, I know, awful horrific thing to do to someone, but he freaked out. It was worth it, and his luscious locks are still there,
so everyone is happy.
Prime: Hahaha! Oh Man! You are brave! He got that Polamalu Million Dollar Hair Insurance Plan?? Ok. My Famous Last Question, man. How big a house did you get moms, man?
TM: She's a simple lady, she wanted a ranch in Northern Arizona, so that's what she got.
Prime: Nice man. I hope you got her some nice Arabian Horses to go with it. Haha! Ok, that’s it my dude. Thanks for sharing with me today. This has been 10 Questions with Primetime with ME, Primetime, and my man Tucker Martin. We out. PEACE!
Prime: RZ! Lemme hear ya! It’s ya boy Prime and the #4 pick in the RZ Draft. New Jets QB. From Stanford! Chase Hillman!
CH: Thanks for having me on Prime
Prime: 10 questions, my man. You ready for this?
CH: All set
Prime: Top QB in the RZ Draft man. A lot of people thought you’d go #1. How did that feel? Did you think you’d go higher?
CH: Like you said Prime, I was still the top QB drafted and honestly I was thrilled to go to New York. I knew they had one of the youngest teams and had a chance to grow with me and it's worked out pretty well so far. Didn't think twice about not going #1.
Prime: Great answer man. I heard you Stanford guys were pretty smart. ;)
Prime: You played with McCaffrey at Stanford. And watched him go 8th. Did that play in your mind knowing the kind of player he was for your Cardinal squad?
CH: Not really, even though he was a Heisman candidate and Pac-12 PoTY, every draft is different man. Different teams need different guys and the order really isn't about who's best. Being drafted at all is a blessing and going in the first round is something that I’ll remember fondly for the rest of my life.
Prime: Beautiful, man. Beautiful.
Prime: You came in and got the nod over Jared Goff, who many thought would be the Jets starter. Was that tough in the locker room?
CH: It wasn't tough and the reason I think it went so smoothly is because of the way Jared handled it. He knew most of the guys a lot better than me and he could have started some controversy, but instead he truly went out of his way to help me be as prepared as possible. I know he's a great QB and he will be ready to go if called upon. Grateful to have him in the QB room.
Prime: You guys are the surprise team of the AFC. And you are a Frontrunner for OROY. How has this affected your life on and off the field?
CH: I don't know how things would be different if we were 2-11 instead of 11-2, but I think they guys sort of protect me more and treat me like their little brother more because they don't want to let me get distracted. And I know it's cliché, but it's true... I have no time to be distracted off the field. Every week I'm preparing for a team I've never played against, with players on it that I've never played against, with coaches that I've never played against. Once the season is over, I'll try to figure out my bearings around the city. For now, it's football football football.
Prime: Brilliance. Mama didn’t raise no fool. Who would you say was your biggest Idol at the QB position growing up?
CH: Peyton Manning hands down. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but to me he's the GOAT. He changed the way the position is played and did it all without a defense most of his career. Put him on the Patriots with Belichick and that defense and tell me he doesn't win as many SBs as Brady. I love calling fake hot routes and fake audibles and pretending to be the Sheriff out there pre snap.
Prime: I’m witcha, man. Cept I think he’d have more. But you didn’t hear that from me ;) Ok, now this might be the same answer. But who would you say you modelled your game after? Who would you compare your style of gameplay to?
CH: Even though I love Peyton, my skill set lends itself to a different play style. Of course I try to incorporate Peyton's legendary preparation, but on the field I model my game more after Aaron Rodgers. I'd like to think that I've got the ability to extend plays and make throws on the run like Rodgers. I take a lot away from his footwork and throwing style.
Prime: How far do you think you can take these Jets? Do you think you can win the Big Game?
CH: I think we can. We've beaten some great teams this year and we have the defense to get it done. You never know what will happen, but I like our chances.
Prime: Yessir! That’s why we play the game. If you could play any other position on the football field what would it be? And why?
CH: I always wanted to play WR. I think I've got the moves for it. I've got a nasty Juke and I can catch anything. I don't think I'd be an NFL WR, but I could have played WR in college for sure.
Prime: So I heard a crazy rumor. How many hours of film do you watch to get prepared for your next game?
CH: Not a crazy amount, probably 30 hours a week or so counting time at the facility.
Prime: So that’s like a part time job. Lol. I heard it was closer to 50-60. You sure you ain’t lowballin me, man? Lol.
Prime: Ok. And now the Primetime Question, man. How big a house did you get your mom, man?
CH: Haha! My mom and dad live in the same house they raised me and my brother in. They've already paid off their mortgage and they wouldn't move under any circumstance. I did buy them a new Jeep Wrangler and an RV to pull it. They are the outdoors type and now they can go camping in style. Wish you could’ve seen the look on my dad’s face when he saw that all black wrangler!
Prime: Haha! Classic man. Sounds like a grounded family. And a great young man. This has been 10 Questions with Primetime, with my man Chase Hillman. Look out folks. He’s the Truth. We gone.
Prime: Back once again, RZ Nation. It’s ya boy Prime. I’m in Dawg Pound Country with the #3 pick in the RZ Draft. One of the best MLBs in Ole Miss History. Mr. Thaddeus Fitzgerald. Hey man.
TF: Sup Prime.
Prime: You know how this works, my man. 10 questions. You ready?
TF: Yeah, I was born ready, and you know this.
Prime: Yeeeaa boy! Ok. So we saw who went before you. Another LB out of The U. Were you the best LB in the Draft?
TF: I was the best LB in the draft and when it's all said and done, my stats will reflect that. But Skinner is doing his thing in Dallas.
Prime: So you been compared to Ole Miss great, Patrick Willis. Do you feel the comparison is justified?
TF: Wow, PW is my man. I've had a chance to get to know him when he would visit Ole Miss. He is such a motivator, and that has stuck with me. If I can get anywhere near the type of player and with the reputation he had during his professional career then I'll be a happy and blessed man.
Prime: You're 5’11. And some said too short to play the Middle. Does that affect the way you play?
TF: I love hearing that type of ish from the naysayers. I wasn't fast enough, I wasn't smart enough. But yet, here I am, selected 3rd overall all. And I'm proving my abilities on the field. I love that chip on my shoulder, thanks naysayers.
Prime: You guys got a lotta young talent on this Defense. Who is the Alpha Dawg on this team?
TF: That's a toss-up, because we all want to show out and prove ourselves. And none of us are ashamed to speak our minds. But I'd say we're all following the lead of Jamie Collins Sr. I mean this man has got a ring, and he just brings it every day at practice and during the games. He shows us what it takes to get that ring.
Prime: You hafta tackle Isaiah Crowell in practice every day. Currently the best RB in the AFC. Has that helped you on Game Day? And how, man?
TF: Isaiah is one tough dude. When I first saw him on the field, I was like, "I'm a smash this dude." Next thing I know I'm juked out my practice shorts. What a degrading experience for a rook. But yeah, he prepares us for every type of back we see. Whether they’re speedy, shifty, or powerful. He has all those tools too. Nothing better than practicing against the best to prepare you for game day.
Prime: Ok, what gets you pumped to play the game? What motivates you?
TF: My family is my motivation. The sacrifices my mother has made for me to get to this point is undeniable. My father worked three jobs so that he could pay for me to go to football camps growing up. I do this for them and along the way I've realized I'm doing this for me too. I want to succeed and be the best. I want kids wearing my jersey. I want my name mentioned in households not only on Sundays, but at the dinner table. When I'm out pre-gaming, stretching, I'm listening to..., and everyone might not believe it, but I'm rocking with Rage Against The Machine. It's just hard stuff and the music alone get's my heart pumping. "Killing In The Name Of", whew! Nothing better.
Prime: I hear you breed dogs, man. What kinda Dawgs you got? Lil Dawgs or Big Dawgs?
TF: I love breeding Siberian Huskies. They can be anywhere from 50 lbs to 65 lbs on average, but I've had ones that have weighed 105 pounds. They're the lead dawgs, my favorite. When all these pups are born, they're all the same size generally. And then one day, the lead dawg just becomes bigger, stronger, and braver than every other one. I've also started a non-kill Siberian Husky retreat right outside of Cleveland. They aren't the easiest of dogs to care for. So for any Husky that is put up for adoption or not wanted, we bring them to the retreat, train them to pull sleds since they are work dogs, and give them a great life.
Prime: What’s it like playing for a city like Cleveland? With so much history and fire. Especially knowing the past years have been tough to get wins.
TF: I absolutely love Cleveland. The fire and passion of the Cleveland football fan is real, and that fire has been burning a long time. And it's just waiting to explode into full blaze. Lebron brought the most recent championship to this city, and the baseball team has been great. But we're expecting to do big things here in the next 1 to 3 seasons for the football fanbase.
Prime: What can we expect outta T Fitz and the Cleveland Browns going forward, man?
TF: I can't promise a championship, although I want to. But this is a team sport, 22 starters, 31 bench players, 10 practice squad guys. If we can make it all come together and with a little luck, because luck is involved in every sport, we might just do the unthinkable. Bring the big one home real soon. Right now with Myles hurt for a few more weeks, a bit of uncertainty at the QB spot, I can't say we'll make much more noise this year. But following this upcoming off-season and the draft, expect the Browns to be in the playoffs from here on out.
Prime: Alright, man. And my customary Last Question, man. Did you buy yo mama a house, man? How big?
TF: Of course I did. That was priority numero uno. In fact, she got two residents. The real big one with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 car garage, indoor/outdoor pool is down in Biloxi, Mississippi. And I got her a nice condo here in Cleveland so she can stay here when she visits me and comes to the games. Big Boys do Big Things.
Prime: This young man is going places. Thanks, T Fitz. You are a great talent and a great young man. Good luck this season and in your career!
TF: Thanks for this opportunity Prime, much love and respect.
