Quantcast

Welcome to Ranked and Filed, where we put together some hot lists, rank them out, and tell you why it went down that way. In our first series we are going to take a look at the 32 NFL Teams available heading into the RedZone Madden 18 team draft. With our team draft just a few weeks away everyone is getting ready to pick the squad that will hopefully give them a leg up on the competition when Madden 18 starts up in August.

With the way things look right now, the playoff race will be tight down to the last week. I have decided to take a look at what is going on in both conferences, and make a subjective take on how things may or may not shake out. It would be easy to simply predict winners based soley on win-loss records, but that will never work out perfectly. I get it.... you are think you are all amazing and are all going to win out. Anyway, here are the the before and after look at how the regular season ...

Mid-Season Pythagorean Goodness

Every team has played at least 8 games. You know what that means! Time to criticize the Je..., er, breakdown mid-season Pythagorean Win Expectancy. You've heard the spiel by now: point differential is a better indicator of future success than previous won-loss record, blah blah blah. If you need a refresher, check out my post from Madden 16.

The Dreaded Left Stick Debate – AST1N’s Personal View

In this league, we pride ourselves on playing as sim as possible. In doing so, we have created numerous rules to keep ourselves in check, and the one rule that seems to have the most controversy would be when a user gets a bad case of Leftstickimus Syndrome, or as many of us users know it by, LS. The left stick rule we abide by is offici...

Astin and Kelly’s Season 33 Playoff Predictions

Astin and I each went through the schedules and rosters of every team in the other’s conference, to determine who will make the big dance at the end of the season. We picked every division winner, the wildcard teams, and a team that just misses out on the playoffs. You’ll also find the predicted record after each team and commentary from Astin in the NFC and Kelly in the AFC. If you don’t like these pred...

3 Teams That Will Dissapoint in Season 33

Saints

Why is it that all of the most annoying GroupMe users keep ending up in my articles? Okay, that was a bit harsh. I’d be salty too if I had to deal with Silk and Semper 4 times a year for most of the cycle. I should be grateful. I was almost stuck with the Saints before Chris orchestrated a 3 team trade that landed me the...

Every team has their own individual needs and strategies. That is what makes this league fun and exciting. Some owners prefer to pick the flashiest guys with all the hype, some go for their team’s biggest needs, and others prefer to take the best available player at that spot. If we take a look at just the numbers and quality of players (ignoring how they are needed for that team), we can poorly judge how each team faired in this year’s draft. For this study, I looked at ...

3 Teams to Watch in Season 33

These 3 teams will show improvement in season 33 and likely surprise the unititiated (queue Bane voice). Later I will have 3 teams that will show decline in season 33. Enjoy.

Steelers

This one pains me because no one is more obnoxious on GroupMe or Twitter than Steelers guy. Add that to the fact that he brags about using 4-4 as hi...

Season 32 Strength of Schedule Analysis

My favorite proprietary statistic is Opponents Adjusted Pythagorean Win Expectancy. This adds up all of a team’s opponents’ Pythagorean Win Expectancy (scoring margin) to show how hard a schedule truly was. Scoring margin is a better indicator of team ability than record because close game are fluky, the best teams blow out their opponents, and the worst teams get blown out.

There is one...
