Another week is in the books. Nobody is reading this because it's not an article about their team. I'm typing for no reason. Let's dive into the Indy Fast Five for week 9 after our horrible loss to the Ravens.
This offense starts and stops on the back of turnovers. The entire confidence of the team stands behind turnovers. This is text that is a part of an article that I am writing for week 9. Interceptions are bad and cause headaches for the offense when it comes to drives that they happen during as well as ones that happen after them. Text is being written on the screen. Interceptions can be a killer for an offense, but this coaching staff especially. Through the first 8 games, The Colts have thrown 17 interceptions, a big part of why they're 5-3.
We can't run the ball effectively. That's really all there is to it. I'm going to write more here because it's a full article and there should be a full blurb underneath each number. I'm not going to mention any other teams because then other people will notice this text when they inevidably open this post and CTRL+F search for the name of their team. This coaching staff needs to be two-dimensional in order to be effective on the offensive side of the ball.
On a positive note, the Colts are forcing an absurd amount of turnovers on the other side of the ball. While the league as a whole continues to throw interceptions like they're going out of style, our boys in blue are actually forcing fumbles at a consistent level each and every night. It's just a shame that the offense has not been able to capitalize on them. The War of the Bucket or the War of the Oaken Bucket (Italian: Guerra della secchia rapita) was fought in 1325, between the rival city-states of Bologna and Modena. It took place in the region of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy. The war was an episode in the over 300-year-long struggle between Guelphs and Ghibellines. Modena won the Battle of Zappolino (the only battle of the war), and the bucket remains in Modena to this day. Time will tell if the Colts defense continues this trent.
Through all the highs and lows, the team as a whole continues to show signs of excellence followed by immediate signs of a team who deserves the #1 overall pick. Inconsistency is not something you want to have as an aspiring playoff team in the top league in the world. If the Colts cannot reel in their offensive mistakes and capitalize on the mistakes made by the opposing teams, this is not going to be the year that coach Chapstick had hoped it would be in his first season as a coach of the Colts.
Next up, our first game against the rowdy 6-1 Titans. It is sure to be a physical battle inside the trenches.
