Trade Deadline: Season 80

                                                  Trade Deadline: Season 80

Greetings Redzone! As we approach the half way point of the season, many teams are faced with the challenge of trying to improve their roster in lieu of a deep playoff run, while other organizations are well aware of their shortcomings, needing to make tough contractual decisons and look ahead to the draft. Though much can happen on the latter end of the season, most teams know exactly where they stand, which makes this trade deadline one of intrigue. Risk vs reward for a team looking to reach the pinnacle of success, juxtaposed by jumpstarting an early rebuild with an influx of draft capital and cap space for a fringe-playoff team or bottom-dweller. Today, we will look at some of the teams who should try to make a big splash before the Tuesday after Week 8, as well as breakdown the teams who should trade away veteran players to free up cap space while acquiring draft assets.

**As of the writing of this article, the 49ers and Patriots agreed to a deal, sending HB Christian McCaffrey to the Patriots in exchange for C David Andrews, Current 2nd round pick, and Future 1st and 2nd round picks, respectively.**

1. Baltimore Ravens (Buy)

The Ravens, led by Lamar Jackson, are sitting at 5-2-1 and playing great football. The 7th highest scoring offense (26 ppg) and top 5 rushing attack, the Ravens rely on the power run game and elite defense thats giving up a league-low 62.8 rushing yards per game. As dominant and physical as they are, the Ravens are near the bottom 3rd of the league in passing, with Lamar ranking near the bottom 20th in average yards per passing attempt (7.6). A key contributor to that is the lack of a true playmaker who can lift the coverage and keep teams from loading up the box. Baltimore can really use a deep threat to give Lamar the weapons he needs, and I think Chiefs' wideout Mecole Hardman is the perfect fit. Kansas City currently sits at a disappointing 0-7, while facing many off-season questions, including re-signing Hardman. At a base salary of just $4.40M, the Ravens are in prime position to get a young, cheap, explosive playmaker and take this offense to the next level, and the deal for Hardman can work out very well for both teams.

2. Minnesota Vikings (Buy)

Tied for the best record in the league, the Vikings are on a tear, but doing it in an unorthodox way, with rushing and defense being the catalyst for their success. Of course, that is a great combination for success--especially when playing games in January, but a Vikings team sporting Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen, and Kirk Cousins sitting 23rd in the league in passing yards is a head scratcher. A proponent to that could be the lack of protection for Kirk Cousins, who has been sacked a league-high 28 times, with just 8 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. The rusing attack is rolling and Dalvin Cook is on record breaking pace, but if the Vikings can not protect their passer and prevent teams from loading up the box, a ton of press coverage can disrupt the timing and leaf to more sacks. An upgrade to their interior offensive line can be a great move, and a player like Joel Bitonio can be a perfect match. The Browns are struggling and can use the draft capital--paying a 30 year old $6.6M over 4 more years seems counter-intuitve for a team who needs to re-build that offense outside in--theVikings can land a stud interior lineman to protect Kirk and open up bigger lanes for their bellcow back.

3. Texans (Sell)

Sitting atop the lowly AFC South at 3-3, the Texans can very easily (and I believe) win this divison and host a playoff game. What better way to compete in the post-season, while still acquiring assets to build this team out for the future. Coach Trent has the pedigree, and he has found his weapon in young speedster John Metchie III who is top 10 in the league in receptions and receiving yards. With a talent like that solidifying the future of the offense, Brandin Cooks suddenly becomes very expendable. The second highest paid player on the Texans with 3 years remaining on a very expensive deal, Houston can get rid of the contract now, continue to develop JM3, and get back a pick or two, all the while possibly winning the AFC South. It may be a hard deal to make, but a few teams in the playoff hunt can use the services of Cooks, making this a very great sell for Houston.

4. Panthers (Sell)

I dont think this was what James Taylor envisioned when he said in his mind he's going to Carolina. The Panthers are in a rebuild and are not handling it well. At 2-6, they are fighting, but just have no identity. The defense is dead last in yards allowed, while giving up nearly 30 points a game. The offense is not doing the Panthers any favors, averaging just 275 total yards per game while only putting up 16 points. Just about every position can be upgraded--sometimes meaning parting ways with players you dont want to--but there a ton of assets that can be moved that would strike a call from all 31 teams and bring in a ton of draft capital with the moves. Shaq Thompsan might draw the most attention from prospective ball clubs looking to improve their roster, and can free the Panthers from a bad contract and lackluster play. Through 8 games this season, Thompson only has 15 tackles and 2 sacks, and doesnt seem very motivated. Thompson is also owed $13.16M the next 2 years, taking him over the hill of his prime at 30. I think the Panthers need to get serious about their future endeavors and make the tough call now, because many teams would pay to have a guy like Thompson on their playoff roster.

Key Duos: Season 80

Key Duos: Season 80

Salutations, RedZone! Welcome to our innaugural segment of #KeyDuos where we will rank the top Quaterback and Wide Receiver duos across the league. No introduction should be needed, but in the event that you are unaware, I am Mr. Give me the damn ball! himself. When ranking the top duos, we must first understand the criteria duos are judged under before they make the cut. And with our universe being so unique, the proverbial 'big name' rubric is simply not enough—albeit an important aspect. Sure, you can have the shinny, souped up, 1996 Toyota Supra, with a young, fearless and talented driver, but if the engine is rusty, antiquated, and older than a Ford Model-T, chances are you won't pick up any hot, sexy babes outside of Hard Rock Stadium after the game (Go home, Silk). Because of the expansive universe we play in with an immense amount of user-control, the Coach behind the duo is weighted heavily with these rankings.

So, pull up a chair, kick up your feet, and get those twitter fingers ready. Welcome to the first installment of #KeyDuos: Season 80!

#5. Davis Mills & John Metchie III, Houston Texans

This may come as a surprise to many, as Davis Mills is still trying to navigate his NFL path. JM3 is just a rookie, but has star power, winning the Jon Cornish Trophy for best college receiver twice in his time at Alabama. Though groing pains and youthful angst may be present, these two have developed quite the chemistry in just 3 games. Davis Mills has struggled to protect the ball, (6 INT through 3 games) but he is still 7th in yards (776) and 10th in touchdowns (5). Metchie III has set the league on fire in his rookie campaign, leading the league with 26 receptions, 2nd in the league with 342 yards, and tied for 2nd with 2 touchdowns. We all know that Other Trent has the pedigree in his very short tenure here, so I love this young, developing duo for years to come.

#4. Trey Lance & Deebo Samuel

One of the most decorated coaches in RedZone heads back to the Yay Area (E-40 voice) where his heart and soul rests. Coach Kelly leads one of the most dynamic duos of Trey Lance and Deebo Samuel, Trey being a part of the new wave of uber-athletic QB's, while Deebo is flat out the superlative of versatility and heart. The only reason why they aren't ranked higher is because of the development and health of Trey, but I don't suspect them to be low for long. As of the writing of this article, Trey is 8th in the league in yards while having just one interception. Deebo is top 10 in yards and receptions, but his ability to line up anywhere on the field makes this duo virtually unstoppable.

#.3 Joe Burrow & Ja'Marr Chase, Cinncinati Bengals

.

The former college teammates who won a natonal championship together at LSU--in a serendipitous act of devinity--somehow manage to find their way back together in the Cincy Jungle. Coach Spitz is back with the Bengals were he has seen his ,ot success as a head coach, but he is no stranger to leading an explosive offense. This might be the best duo he's had--the prowess and dynamisim of Chase coupled with the big arm and poise of Burrow. All they have done thus far is rank top 5 and every throwing and receiving stat, respectively. This is a duo that I expect to be top notch until cycle-end.

#2. Jalen Hurts & Quez Watkins, Philadelphia Eagles

Fly, Eagles Fly! One of the more formidable coaches in RZ, Ramesu takes his illustrious coaching career to Philly, and the fit could not be any better. Jalen Hurts is scary good. So much so, he's leading all QB's with a stellar 116.2 rating, while completing 70% of his passes. What the shocker in this duo might be is the receiver not named A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith. No folks, Quez Watkins is the 1/2 of this duo, boasting a gaudy 16.3 YPC. Lets be honest; Philly is loaded. But the mind and coaching philosophy of Ram puts this in perspective, getting so much production out of anyone, regardless of name. This is a duo that will win now and later. Look out, RZ.

#1. Kirk Cousins & Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings

Arguably the three best Coach/users at the QB position are Adel, Moji, and Astin. Unfortunately for us, Coach Adel takes the reins of his beloved Vikings, along with the skill set that can rival anyone. If he can light it up with Teddy B, Kirk Cousins is a godsend--and he is exactly that. Medicore Kirk is 4th in the league in yards, 4th in touchdowns, and sitting at an astounding 114.6 Rating. If that isn't enough, the Vimings number 1 target is old man Thielen who is top 5 in the league in all major receiving categories. Surprisingly, Jettas isn't the 1/2 to complete this duo, but when you have a QB and WR putting up these types of numbers, as aforementioned, Jefferson can play second fiddle and still do numbers. As long as Adel maintains his prominence as a top 5 (and not 5) user, this duo will be at the apex of all. Add in Jefferson, and you have a new age Rat Pack!

Honorable Mentions:

Tom Brady & Chris Godwin

Kyler Murray & Zach Ertz

Justin Herbert & Keenan Allen

Dak Prescott & Jelani Woods

Winners and Losers of Free Agency

Winners & Losers of Free Agency: RZ74

How we define 'winners' and 'losers' under our conglomerate can vary from user to user, often times leading to much ambiguity in each term, depending on who you ask--or whose ulterior motives and disdain resonnates the most. Whether a transaction is met with praise, or reproach, making a big splash in the offseason and hoisting your name amongst the elite team builders is a feat we all covet and endeavor to reach. Every team has a unique philosophy to how they manage their roster, how they balance their finances, and how they value talent. Those three components--in conjuction with cap space and rationale--can really lift a team to the top, or send them down deep into the abyss. As the cycle speeds closer to the finish line, the offseason heading in Season 74 may be the most pivotal, as each decision may have adverse effects, or put a team one step closer to a championship.

Here, we will recap some of the biggest moves in free agency with the teams who hit the ball out the park, while completely chasting the teams that missed, in typical pretentious, Adelmannean fashion. The rubric used when scoring this is heavily weighed on team need, team fit, equity of contract, and overall team outlook and future vision.

                                                                     Winner: Buffalo Bills

Madden '22 Cover Has Been Leaked - Did Josh Allen Make It?

Bouncing back from a season that saw the Bills finish under .500 and out of the playoffs, Buffalo re-emerged as ACFE champions with a 12-4-1 record and a wild card playoff victory at home. An area of improvement for Buffalo was on the defensive side of the ball--specifically against the pass--where Buffalo ranked 27th in the league, giving up nearly 300 yards per game through the air. The Bills addressed that need in free agency, bringing in 5 veteran defensive backs to shore up the secondary. Brain Poole, Quandre Diggs, Xavier Woods, and Isaiah Oliver all headed to Buffalo, not only to help bolster the passing defense, but also came on pretty short, cheap deals. None of the aforementioned players were signed beyond 2 years, and none were more than $2M/yr. If the bargin for quantity wasn't enough, Buffalo added an explosive playmaker in the running game, signing HB Antonio Gibson to a 4 year, $56M contract. The bell-cow for Washington, the 27 year old Gibson is coming of 4 consecutive 1,000 yard seasons, making an immediate impact for the Bills, a team that finished 26th in rushing last season. Addressing needs while getting bargins and not breaking the bank on bad contracts is quite a talent, and the front office in Buffalo should be applauded for their work.

                                                     Winner: Cinncinati Bengals

Ja'Marr Chase gets boost in Madden rating after hot start to rookie season

As if a highly touted defense that ranked 3rd in the league in total yards wasn't enough, Cincy made a big acquisition, trading 2 picks to get elite pass rusher Montez Sweat from Washington. Though they lost Joe Mixon and Deandre Hokins via trade and release, respectively, the Bengals were able to acquire picks while free up cap space to add depth at the linebacker position with vets Dont'a Hightower and Alex Highsmith. Filling in a hole left be Hopkins at receiver, the Bengals added young deep threat Nico Collins who is fresh off of a superbowl and is still getting better. Not big flashy signings, but the Bengals addressed needs, got better on defense and acquired picks for the future.

                                                                        Winner: New York Jets

New York Jets player ratings for Madden NFL 22

Perhaps one of the sneaky plays of the offseason, the Jets made noise by first acquiring draft capital from Washington when the traded MLB Kenny McClain. They then went on a haul, completely revamping their offensive line by nabbing RT Orlando Brown, LT Taylor Lewan, and C David Andrews. With those three joining the likes of Mekhi Becton, the Jets clearly felt they needed an identity, and it starts in the trenches. Orlando Brown did come at a very high expense, (4yr, $152M) but when a team has been crippled with unsatisfactory offensive line play, sometimes you have to spend to get what you need. A bit confused at the signing of C JC Tretter and that money could have been used to get a playmaker out wide, but the Jets, who also boosted their defensive line, signing Demarcus Lawrence to a one year deal worth a little under $9M, showed they had an identity to correct and finally looked their offense has some stability and direction.

                                                                   Wiinner: Houston Texans

Madden 22 player ratings: Predicting the 5 highest-rated Houston Texans players

Congratulations to Coach Biggs and the Texans for capturing their 2nd title in 4 years. But let me forewarn the league: they are not done! After an illustrious season capped of with a Super Bowl championship, nothing is more encapsulating of a great franchise than heading into the offseason with $102M in cap space after you just won the chip. All the Texans did with that money was bring in a slew of defensive veterans to help improve the 27th ranked defense, while adding receivers' Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry to take the best offense to historic heights. The Texans are in 'win now' mode and being able to throw $25M at Michael Thomas and $5.6M to Jarvis Landry for just one year, respectively, proves the Texans know exactly what they need and they havent ruined their offensive continuity. The pieces added on the defensive side of the ball with Cameron Jordan and Casey Hayward addressed major issues, while also not jepordizing the future of the Texans to build and develop, signing both vets to one year deals.

                                                                         Losers: New England Patriots

NFL Week 2: Simulating every Sunday game on Madden 22

The Patriots started the offseason on a bad note, re-signing 34 year old Aaron Donald to a 2 year deal worth $42M. A team that has finshed below .500 in 3 of 4 seasons, New England is a rebuild, but the front office has operated as if the are in contention for a title. That couldn't be more prevelant, as the Patriots threw a king's ransom ($108M large over 4 years) to 33 year old receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Though extremely talented with some juice left, DHop is simply not worth the money nor years, and as aforementioned, New England is not in contention. Unlike the Jets who addressed team need and built an identity, the Patriots failed to address the defensive side of the ball where they ranked last in the league, nor brought in youth and talent to grow around Mac Jones. I would have liked to see New England acquire draft assests for Aaron Donald and disperse that influx of cap space to acquire young talent. Instead, they gave 4 years to an aging receiver and blew the rest on skittles and coke zero.

                                                                     Loser: Tennessee Titans

Derrick Henry's injury presents the ultimate chance to test the hypothesis or running back value - Sports Illustrated

One of the more consistent power houses in the league, the Titans dropped the ball in free agency, and the theme seemed to be overpay for old, aging veteran receivers, astonishingly topping the Patriots' deal to DHop by signing Keenan Allen to a 4 year deal worth $122M. The Titans don't have many holes, but the number one need was offensive line, followed by a defensive playmaker in the secondary. The Titans bypassed both, and instead broke the bank for Allen--albeit a future hall of famer--who at 33 with declining athleticism, offers nothing more than a redzone target and stick mover. With an aging Russell Wilson and a very weak offensive line, the Titans commited a ton of money and years to a guy on the brink of retirement, while failing to address any position of need.

                                                                        Loser: Los Angeles Rams

Jalen Ramsey, Tyler Higbee placed on COVID-19 list ahead of Rams-Cardinals | RSN

Being strapped for money does make one redirect their path and temper expectations. So while I'm impartial to the Rams and their strategy, the offseason moves were quite the head scratcher. The Rams have arguably the best linebacker corps in all of football. When they decided to let Matt Milano walk in free agency, it was a no brainer, as the youth and talent they possess at the position made Milano expendable. Inexplicably, however, the Rams made a last ditch effort in the closing moments of FA1, eventually signing Milano to a 2 year, $14M deal. They followed that up by signing LG Alex Leatherwood to a 3 year deal worth $17.6M deal, and HB DJ Parsons to a 3 year, $7.65M deal. Parsons will be buried in the depth chart behind Akers and Henderson Jr and offers the Rams no use. Milano is sitting in a room with the best LB core in the league and will get little reps. Though Leatherwood is solid, this was not a huge upgrade at the guard position. The Rams could have used the money spent on these contracts and made a big splash by bringing in Dak Prescott, who can elevate that offense and is simply leaps better than Derek Carr. I think if the Rams had a reset button, they would've went after Dak and been a favorite.

                                                                         Loser: Green Bay Packers

Davante Adams contract: Packers GM addresses long-term deal for star WR - Sports Illustrated

With a 6-game suspension looming for All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, the Packers needed to spend their $52.6M dollars of cap space strategically and with the future in its best interest. Losing David Bahktiari to free agency was a big blow to the Packers' offense, but if the sentiment around the front office was that there was no team interest in re-siging the LT, why not shop him around for young assests and picks? Instead, the Packers let Bahk' walk and spent their money on bringing in aging, middling linebackers Za'Darius Smith and Zach Cunningham--both over 3 years--to a combined $64.15M. They also dumped $24.4M over 3 years for Derrick Nndai, posing the question: Who is in charge of budgeting here? The Packers are in a rebuild and had a ton of money. Too much money was spent on players that are of no need and do not help your program grow. And with the inevitable suspension of Adams in the wake, this looks like it will culminate with a chaotic year in Lambeau.

We will only focus on the top 10, so get tose portfolios ready and lets flood the market!

                                                                                            LEGEND:

                                                                                                         ???? = Stock increasing

                                                                                                         ???? = Stock decreasing

                                                                                                          ↔? = Stock hold

???? = Bearish, belief that stock will fall

???? = Bullish, belief that stock will rise

1)  Washington Football Team: ????????????

Football Team has just come off of an illustrious Season 72, capped off by Coach Chapstick's 1st Superbowl. With 21 of 22 starters returning to Washington, along side a very talented group of incoming rookies, this is an absolute long-term investment that yeilds quarterly dividends which will carry you for a lifetime. An expensive stock, but if you have the funds, buy as much of it as you can.

2)  Baltimore Ravens: ????

Despite early season struggles last year, Coach Adelmann silenced his critics, leading the Ravens to an impressive 12-5 record and the #1 seed in the AFC. Though the season ended with a disappointing playoff exit in the Divisional Round, the Ravens have a tried-and-true stock that continues to thrive in a flooded market. Adding rookies Carl Paterson and Antwuan Leslie to lead the defensive charge--not to mention the virtuosity of the great Lamar Jackson--the Ravens have demonstrated it's capabilites to withstand the volitility and have become an almost inelastic product. Buy and reap the benefits.

3)  Miami Dolphins: ↔?????

Coach Terrance Spitz led his Dolphins to an improbable run to the Superbowl, his first apperance since his stint with the Bengals in 2019. All accolades and accomplishments mentioned, I would be remiss to say that the team has exhibited rather questionable business moves, thus causing sporadic movement in the market. The cieling for this stock is high, but the floor is just as low. For now, high volume has some-what positive sentiments, so any investor with this stock should hold. However, I wouldn't encourage new investors to buy, as the aforementioned shortcomings do have me feeling rather bearish.

4)   Carolina Panthers: ????????

Another club coming off of a strong season, only to have their season ended prematurely in an early playoff exit, the Panthers loaded up with an influx of volume, Bringing in veterans Xavien Howard and DeForest Buckner. With new additions, as well as the growth of Elam, I am buying this stock and expect a surge in it's share price with a ton of free float. Buy while you can.

5)  Tennessee Titans: ????????

A great gauge to determine the life and health of a stock is the amount of volume and float. Though the Tittans have been a strong team, coming off a Divison Title and a deep playoff run, the volume just isnt there. Replacing Brady with Wilson, while failing to bring in new talent and develop young players, it seems as though they are content with using band aids just to get by. With no mergers in place and stagnant volume, I am selling this stock while it still has value. Maybe you get in on the dip later, but don't get stuck holding the bag.

6)   Kansas City Chiefs: ↔?????

The Chiefs have been consistent over the years, maintaining a safe business model and never falling below even on earnings. Safe is not also best, as no risk puts a very long play on a stock--something that deters the day traders from dropping top dollar. The Chiefs completely flipped that approach, bringing in veteran Michael Pierce, while loading up with young talent, led by Adam Teel. Taking risks and trying to make a splash has me very Bullish on this stock. I'm holding for now, but throwing some Call Options on this for the future.

7)   Minnesota Vikings: ????

Being an industry giant can often times be lonely. Great volume and a ton of free float--not to mention being in a thriving sector that will alwasy perform--the only knock on the Vikings is that it's a long-term play and not a cash grab. That isn't a bad thing either. This a safe, sure-fire stock that will be the bulk of any portfolio; are you willing to pay the price to get in in the question. I'm always buying, and you should too. Just don't expect to get rich tomorrow, unless you're a trust fund baby or Coach Astin himeself.

8)  Tampa Bay Buccaneers: ↔?↔?

Coach Roc is as decorated as they come, with a business model that has stood the test of time. The Bucs seem to be in a situation similar to the Titans were age and a thriving industry could have adverse effects on the team. Losing Ali Marpet was a big loss, but Bringing in young talent Jaelen Philips does show that the team is invested and very much a player in the market. Hold this stock and let the diamond hands prevail, hopefully.

9)   Houston Texans: ????

If you got this stock as an IPO, you are probably somewhere in Dubai on a jetski taking in the Persian Gulf ambiance. two seasons removed from a Superbowl in just their second season going public, The Texans will always be a stock that will thrive. For now, an aging team that may see some turnover soon, now would be a great time to sell and make a profit, but look to get back in on the dip.

10)   San Francisco 49ers: ????????

Another highly esteemed and decorated coach, the Niners saw a bit of a hit to their morale amongst investors after losing the divison title and losing in the first round of the playoffs--albeit to the eventual Super Bowl champions. The Niners bounceed back, making a huge splash in acquiring veteran Stephon Gilmore and developing Trey Lance. With a surprisingly low price, I am buying as much of this stock as I can because the benefits will be unreal.

Honorable Mentions: Rams (????), Raiders (????????), Bills (????), Chargers (↔?↔?), Cardinals (????), Bengals (????????????), Giants (↔?).

Keys to Victory: Texans vs Titans Week 11

Keys to Victory: Week 11

Texans (6-3) vs Titans (7-3) Nashville, TN

Greetings RedZoninans! Welcome to the latest installment of "Keys 2 Victory", the first for season 70 of the new cycle.! As my pleasure as always, I am giving you a complete breakdown of the week's top matchup with predictions, analysis, and of course, KEYS 2 VICTORY! We kick things off live from  Nashville, Tennesse, home of the Country Music Hall of Fame where a ton of square dancing and boot scootin' will take place on the gridiorn, as the Titans host divison rival Texans, winner taking sole posession of first place in the AFC South. Both teams are surging at this juncture of the season, looking to pulll away and make a deep playoff run.

The Texans are one of the biggest surprises in RedZone this season. Led by a first year head coach, Coach Biggs has an underwhelming roster overachieving and playing great football. At 6-3 coming off of a bye, The Texans have pulled out very close games, showing the fight and mental fortitude of a team destined to shock the league. Rookie QB Davis Mills is leading the offensive attack—though average numbers—sporting an impressive 10 passing TDs to just 2 INTs. Shaking off the rookie angst and growing pains, Mills and the Texans are primed to continue the upward trajectory and claim the AFC South title. Across the field, the mighty Titans are standing at 7-3, riding the wave and trident of Poseidon himself, Derrick Henry. Through 10 games, Henry has amassed 1280 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, both league highs, respectively. The Titans go as Henry goes, and sitting atop the AFC South, the team is looking to run away with the divison title, a so far attainable feat, led by rising star coach, Andrew Vandosoballofabuloso (I think it's Dutch). With what is shaping up to be a stellar game, here are my Keys 2 Victory for Week 11: Texans vs Titans.

Keys 2 Victory for HOU: 11-man boxes! Force 3rd Down

Pretty wild, right? How else do you contain the strength and dominance of Derrick Henry? Though playing without a safety may be sacrilegious in every circumstance, this will be the Texans only attempt at limiting Henry and claiming victory. The Texans are capable of just that, sitting 3rd in the league against the run, giving up just 90.3 yards/game. It will be a tough task, but if the Texans are able to neutralize Henry and force the Titans to 3rd and long, they will have a great chance to win. The Titans convert just 42% of their 3rd downs, putting them in the bottom half of the league. QB Ryan Tannehill isn't exactly an imposing force to secondaries, completing just 59% of passes and 29th in the league among all qualifying quarterbacks with 1,897 passing yards. If the Texans can force the Titans into 3rd and long and dare Tannehill to pass the ball, they can escape Nashville with a victory.

Keys 2 Victory for TEN: Cover 1 and send 5!

Behind the Texans' success lies a glaring discrepancy—albeit the scheme and playing to the roster—they cannot stretch the field. Led by Davis Mills who has played considerable well, the Texans average just 6.6 yards per pass attempt, the lowest in the league. The top receiving threat, Tylan Wallace, averages just 49.4 receiving yards per game on 4 catches. The Key for the Titans is to press their corners, play single-high safety, and send 5+ pass rushers at Mills. The Texans rely on quick hitting drags and short routes to the flats. If the Titans play aggressively and take away the underneath route, I don't trust Mills or any Texans' receivers to beat coverage over the top. I expect the Titans to take risks in the secondary and make Davis Mills beat them with the intermediate-to-deep ball.

Predictions: Texans eke out a tight game 17-13 over the Titans.

The Texans have proven time and time again, they can win the tough, scrappy games. With a gaudy rush defense and a ball control offense, I believe the Texans will find a way to negate Derrick Henry and force Ryan Tannehill to tread high waters in trying to lead with his arm. A feat that Tannehill is not accustomed to, ultimately the lackluster passing game will lead to defeat for the Titans, while the Texans take sole posession of 1st place, atop the AFC South.

Let's see how it pans out, folks!

Keys to Victory: Rams vs Seahawks Week 10

Keys To Victory: Week 9

Rams (6-2) vs Seahawks (5-3) Seattle, WA

Salutations, extraordinary Men of Valor. Welcome to another segment of "Keys 2 Victory" with yours truly. We're live from the Emerald City in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, as the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams—pitied against each other in an old fashioned fisticuffs. Two teams vying for playoff contention—The Rams looking to stay atop the NFC West, in a tie with the 49ers, while the 'Hawks look to keep the position in the NFC playoff pecking order—both teams are surging at this juncture of this season, looking to pull away and build on a deep playoff run.

The Rams made a huge splash in the off-season, trading for Superstar Half-Back Christian McCaffrey. Run CMC is leading the Rams with 720 total yards from scrimmage along with 5 total touchdowns. The defense, led by Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and Co, are playing stout defense and making it tough for opposing offenses—a key component to the Rams' 6-2 record. For the Seahawks, they made one of the biggest splashes, trading for the best Half-Back in the league in Derrick Henry, bolstering the offense and creating the best back field in the NFL, pairing Henry with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. The 'Hawks at 5-3, have one of the most formidable rushing attacks, and look to rely on that heavily against the strong defense of the Rams. When what is shaping up to be a stellar game, with playoff implications, here are my Keys 2 Victory for Week 10: Rams vs Seahawks.

Keys 2 Victory for LAR: Stack the box; Force the pass.

Seattle is 4th in the NFL in total rushing yards (1119), lead by Derrick Henry's 705 yards (3rd). Despite the success on the ground, the Seahawks are only averaging 22.3 points per game, which is 19th in the league—a factor to the lack of scoring is a underwhelming passing offense. Sitting at 29th in the league (1469 yards) the inability of the Seahawks to create plays in the passing game against single-high safety looks can prove costly—especially facing teams with elite man-to-man corners, such as the Rams. The way LAR can neutralize the running game of Seattle is by stacking the box with 8 and 9-man fronts, daring Seattle to throw. Rely on the man-coverage skills of Jalen Ramsey and Casey Hayward Jr to shut their man down, and let that front led by Aaron Donald to do the rest. If the Rams can force the Seahawks out of run situations and make them throw, the Rams have a great chance of moving to 7-2.

Keys To Victory for SEA: Defense Win 1st and 2nd Down

The Rams are built around a dominant defense. They are the heartbeat of the team. That statement is so unequivocal, in fact, the Rams forgot what offense is. Sitting at 6-2, the Rams are dead last in offense (1847 yards) and 15th in scoring (23.1 PPG). The most startling statistic is the Rams' inefficiency on converting 3rd downs. Trailing only the Dolphins, the Rams are an abysmal 33% (30/90) on 3rd down conversions on the season and 31st in the NFL in total 1st downs with 92. The gameplan is simple for the Seahawks' defense: Win early downs! If Seattle imposes their will and wins 1st and 2nd down, the analytics are in their favor to force punt situations and get the ball back for King Henry to tote the rock. If the find success in winning early downs and forcing 3-and-outs, they will enjoy the thrill of victory over the Rams.

Predictions: Seattle in a ugly game, 23-10

Seattle earns my Keys 2 Victory in their Week 10 matchup over the Rams. In the end, I think it's too much Derrick Henry, in conjuction with the offensive woes for the Rams. The Rams defense can only hold up so much, but with the Rams' inability to move the ball and convert 3rd downs, ultimately, Henry and company run to victory. Best of luck to both teams; can't wait to watch!

Keys to Victory: Broncos vs Raiders Week 7

Keys To Victory: Week 7

Broncos (4-1) vs Raiders (4-2). Las Vegas, NV

Nothing warms my heart more than the ire and vitriol of two heated rivals heading into war. To sweeten the pot, the two teams exuding this proverbial hate, are both sitting comfortably in playoff contention in the AFC race. Just two weeks removed from their previous matchup in Denver, the Raiders fell to defeat behind a stellar performance from the Broncos' defense, who allowed just 6 points, while generating 6 turnovers. Denver cruised to victory 22-6, and the sentiments around the league were that the Raiders, led by rookie sensation Andrew Gleason (QB), were still a year behind schedule. The Raiders answered the critics last week with a huge 30-28 victory over the then undefeated Chiefs, behind a 315 yard performance by Gleason, who, more importantly, finished with zero turnovers.

It's no secret—Coach and GM—Cory Astin is the superlative of success and dominance, leading his teams to a bevy of titles, building dynastic teams, and exuding the embodiment of a winning culture. Claiming victory over an illustrious coach is a great barometer of direction and growth—and for this young Raiders' team, they'll have their hands full this Sunday. So without further adieu, here are my "Keys To Victory" for Week 7's rivalry matchup between the Broncos and Raiders.

Keys for the Raiders: Win the turnover battle

Though this is a cliché—and every coaches Modus Operandi—winning the turnover battle just isn't about protecting the ball; its about getting the ball back! The Raiders have an explosive offense, and one that doesn't torn the ball over. However, through 6 games, the Raiders have just 14 takeaways, putting them at 18th in the league. Beating the Broncos is a great feat in itself, but giving them extra possessions is almost a death wish. A key to the Raiders finding success over the Chiefs was winning the turnover battle (+3). Getting extra possessions for their high-powered offense is a key proponent to their overall success. If they're able to stymie the Broncos and generate takeaways, they'll have a great shot and claiming victory.

Key for the Broncos: Run the Ball... and Run the Ball!

The Broncos are an explosive offense, predicated on the passing game, led by Drew Lock. The Broncos use their short passing game as an extension of their run, but the lack of consistency on the ground may hamper the Broncos, especially in tough divisional matchups. The key to victory for Denver is to run the ball, with impunity! The mantra at practice for Coach Astin and company should be 30+ rushing attempts. The way you neutralize a high-powered offense, such as the Raiders, is by ball control and clock-management. [But] diving deeper into the numbers, the Raiders allow 108.3 rushing yards per game, which puts them near the bottom of the league (24th). The Broncos can find success by sticking to the run game, in conjuction with the metrics, going against a bottom-tier rushing defense.

Predictions: Raiders win in a close game, 24-21.

The Raiders are coming off of a great game against a strong Chiefs' team. The were able to protect the ball against the number 2 team in takeaways, which in return will help the Raiders correct the mistake they made in their first matchup against the Broncos. I don't believe the Broncos will stick to ground attack, allowing the Raiders to capitalize on takeaway opportunities to elevate them to victory.

Buckle up folks! This is going to be a bloodbath in an intense rivalry game. And the Raiders are earning my Keys to Victory!!

Jordan Brand Launches #FlyWithUs Geared to Bring Awareness to Social Justice Issues

Bobby Wagner, Joe Haden, Tyrann Mathieu Lead Jordan Brand? #FlyWithUs Movement, Bringing Awareness to Social Injustices in Communities.

With the upheavel of police brutality and the unjust murders of black and brown lives across America, Jordan Brand looked to create an initiative to shed light on these tragic situations. A partnership with Red Zone Sports and Jordan Brand was created to help curate awareness and recognition to the constructs of systematic opression and racism, that so many face today. But the initiative was spearheaded by three prominent athletes in the NFL. Bobby Wagner or the Seahawks, Joe Haden of the Baltimore Ravens, and Tyrann Mathieu of the Kansas City Chiefs, in conjuction with Red Zone Sports and Jordan Brand, help design ¨Fly With Us.¨ With the partnership, Jordan Brand will donate a portion of all revenue to organizations of the three athletes´ choice, all of which are centered around community outreach, education, and race relations across the Nation.

Terrance Spitz, a spokesman for Nice Kicks, also in partnership with #FlyWithUs said in an interview, ¨With this action, we are hopeful we can bring understanding and discourse to very prevalent issues. The adverse effects of policing, communication, tolerance and acceptance are damning, if not approached with sensitivity and knowledge. Through style, culture, athleticism and connectivity, the continuity of progression and advancement with all people can begin to manifest in the great nation.

Photo-shoot to Launch ¨Fly With Us¨

The Three Athletes involved with Jordan Brand´s latest social movement, took part in a photo-shoot. Satorially draped and Jordan Brand on-field apparel, they were caped off with custom player additon cleats, symbolizing their fight for equality, peace and justice.

¨It is our obligation to use our platform as a tool to reach the masses. Our gifts and talents are given to us to spread love and peace. It must start with dialogue, then action, the commitment. I am merely a vessel, but before I leave this shell of a body, I need to fulfill my destiny. We are all human. We all need to love on each other and advocate for those without a voice.¨ - Bobby Wagner

¨Black plight and Anti-Blackness are propagated daily. As black athletes, we are commanly perceived to be the sterotype that media depicts us as. It? only fitting that us, millionaire athletes, use the platform we´ve been given to destroy those false claims and uplift our people in society. When you slip on the most iconic shoe brand, I hope you empathize with our walk, and be the change you hope to see.¨ - Joe Haden.

With the start of Season 62 of the Red Zone, it appears that a movement on and off the field will take precedence. Fly With Us is the mantra, and unity and connectivity are the theme. These players are were privileged to be the face of this initiative, and hope the league, and it? fans follow suit.

FLY WITH US...

Key Acquisitions Arrive in Kansas City, Shine in their Preseason Debut

Desir, Maye Arrive at Chiefs´ Training Camp; DB´s Make Instant Impact in the Week 2 Preseason Victory over the Cardinals.

Glendale, AZ

The Kansas City Chiefs made swift work in hiring Head Coach Terrance Spitz, after the depture into the sunset by the Heralded Great, Andy Reid. The new [coach] was preemptive in his managerial prowess, contacting every NFL front office--buying any viable option to help bolster a very weak Cheifs'secondary. The former Rams´ Coach hadn´t even landed in Kansas City, before he and his staff were able to reach an agreement with the New York Jets. In exhange for a 2nd-round pick in the 2021 draft, The Chiefs were able to land two solid defensive backs--29 year old Corner Back, Pierre Desir and 27 year old Safety, Marcus Maye. With the aqcuisitons, The Chiefs solidified a very deplorable secondary, that outside of the [Honey Badger], would be very susceptible to giving up big plays through the air to opposing passing offenses.

Though the trade was agreed to in principle--prior to the start of the preseason--due to Red Zone CBA regualtions, Desir and Maye were prohibited from competing in the Chiefs´ week 1 preseason match-up versus the Bengals. There was much anticipation for the arrival of the duo, as many Chiefs´ ranted and raved about the new-look defense with the additions of Desir and Maye. From the moment the pair arrived at Training Camp earlier in the week, a certain energy and bravado surrounded the defensive unit. Practices became more chippy and edgy. Players, specifically on the defensive side of the ball, became more vocal. A noticable synergy loomed and created a resonance of confidence and gamemanship, as the Chiefs´ defense finally believed the could match their high-powered offensive unit.

Desir and Maye Make Immediate Impact in the Chiefs Secondary

The Chiefs traveled to Glendale, Arizona to face the Cardinals in their Week 2 preseason match-up. Without hesitation, Coach Spitz announced that Desir and Maye would get the start at corner and free safety, respectively, leading the Chiefs´ defensive attack behind Chris Jones and Tyrann Mathieu. On the games´ opening drive lead by the Cardinals' offense, Marcus Maye made his presence known, lodging a bone-jarring hit on Cardinals receiver, Christian Kirk, causing a fumble and recovering the fumble. ¨We here! We here!¨, Maye shouted, sprinting back to the Chiefs´ sideline, as he hoisted the recovered football.

Marcus Maye (#36) creates a fumbke and recovery in the Chiefs´ week 2 matchup vs the Cardinals in Arizona.

Later in the 1st quarter, Pierre Desir, who shadowed future Hall-of-Fame receiver, Larry Fitzgerald, snaged his first (unofficial) interception in a Chiefs uniform. The veteran corner back displayed great execution, as he jumped a deep-in route ran by [Fitzgerald], securing the interception, and returning it for 11 yards. Aside from his great playmaking ability, Desir held Fitzgerald to 2 catches for 23 yards in his time on the field, which was the first half. The Chiefs´ defensive coordinator, Jarvarius Javarington, praised his newly acquired DB, stating ¨He [Desir] allows us to scheme differently, throw different looks, and send pressure, trusting that he has the ability to man his are and stay with his assignment.

Pierre Desir (#37) Intercepts Cardinals´ QB Brett Hundley in the 1st quarter of the Chiefs/Cardinals week 2 preseason game.

Marcus Maye contiued to impact the game and bolster the Chiefs´ secondary. On a 3rd and 7, as the Cardinals were drving right before the half, the 3rd year saftey stepped in front of a shallow post, showing great vertical skill by intercepting a high ball, and nearly taking it the distance. With the forced fumble, fumble recovery, and interception, Maye added 5 total tackles and helped lead the Chiefs to a road victory.
