The new [coach] was preemptive in his managerial prowess, contacting every NFL front office--buying any viable option to help bolster a very weak Cheifs'secondary. The former Rams´ Coach hadn´t even landed in Kansas City, before he and his staff were able to reach an agreement with the New York Jets. Though the trade was agreed to in principle--prior to the start of the preseason--due to Red Zone CBA regualtions, Desir and Maye were prohibited from competing in the Chiefs´ week 1 preseason match-up versus the Bengals. There was much anticipation for the arrival of the duo, as many Chiefs´ ranted and raved about the new-look defense with the additions of Desir and Maye.
