With the upheavel of police brutality and the unjust murders of black and brown lives across America, Jordan Brand looked to create an initiative to shed light on these tragic situations. A partnership with Red Zone Sports and Jordan Brand was created to help curate awareness and recognition to the constructs of systematic opression and racism, that so many face today. But the initiative was spearheaded by three prominent athletes in the NFL. Bobby Wagner or the Seahawks, Joe Haden of the Baltimore Ravens, and Tyrann Mathieu of the Kansas City Chiefs, in conjuction with Red Zone Sports and Jordan Brand, help design ¨Fly With Us.¨ With the partnership, Jordan Brand will donate a portion of all revenue to organizations of the three athletes´ choice, all of which are centered around community outreach, education, and race relations across the Nation.
Terrance Spitz, a spokesman for Nice Kicks, also in partnership with #FlyWithUs said in an interview, ¨With this action, we are hopeful we can bring understanding and discourse to very prevalent issues. The adverse effects of policing, communication, tolerance and acceptance are damning, if not approached with sensitivity and knowledge. Through style, culture, athleticism and connectivity, the continuity of progression and advancement with all people can begin to manifest in the great nation.
The Three Athletes involved with Jordan Brand´s latest social movement, took part in a photo-shoot. Satorially draped and Jordan Brand on-field apparel, they were caped off with custom player additon cleats, symbolizing their fight for equality, peace and justice.
¨It is our obligation to use our platform as a tool to reach the masses. Our gifts and talents are given to us to spread love and peace. It must start with dialogue, then action, the commitment. I am merely a vessel, but before I leave this shell of a body, I need to fulfill my destiny. We are all human. We all need to love on each other and advocate for those without a voice.¨ - Bobby Wagner
¨Black plight and Anti-Blackness are propagated daily. As black athletes, we are commanly perceived to be the sterotype that media depicts us as. It? only fitting that us, millionaire athletes, use the platform we´ve been given to destroy those false claims and uplift our people in society. When you slip on the most iconic shoe brand, I hope you empathize with our walk, and be the change you hope to see.¨ - Joe Haden.
With the start of Season 62 of the Red Zone, it appears that a movement on and off the field will take precedence. Fly With Us is the mantra, and unity and connectivity are the theme. These players are were privileged to be the face of this initiative, and hope the league, and it? fans follow suit.
FLY WITH US...
