As the Giants look on to Week 6, a quick recap of this team's Week 4 & 5 games:
Week 4 was against the Bears at home. After a close first quarter with CHI leading 14-13, NYG would get hot in the second and third quarter putting up another 28 to the Bears' 10. The game would go on to finish 47-27 in New York's favor. Daniel Jones went 15/18 for 264 yds, 3 tds and a pick. The defense was locked in during passing downs coming away with 5 ints, 3 sacks, and 10 tfl's. Bears dominated the ground game though.
This Week 5 game was against Green Bay, and somehow New York is proceeding with a win. The offense for the Giants struggled BIG time. NY's 406 total yards were met with 5 turnovers, a stat that would make it tough for any team to win. Jones would go 20/36 for 264 yds, 1 td and 2 ints. He had a hard time holding onto the ball getting stripped 3 times, losing it twice, with one time being inches from the endzone. So knowing these disasters, how did NY win? Their defense would show up and be about as clutch as can be. They would end the day with 2 ints, 4.5 sacks, a safety and 13 tfl's. But the real game changing moments came from 2 forced fumbles, one that led to a score for the lead, and the other on the next Packers' possession to let NY run out the clock for the 40-36 win.
Going forward, working on the run defense, and on executing offensive plays instead of relying on improvising after things breakdown will be the focus for this squad.
Next game will be against the Ravens at home.
The Giants week 3 matchup against the Cowboys was about all that you could hope for in a divisional rivalry game; passing yards, run yards, key defensive plays, fourth down attempts, and a game winning field goal in overtime.
During the first half of the game, we saw both teams trying to get a feel for one another's style as we went into halftime with the Cowboys trailing 14-7. The second half is where the game got really interesting. Zeke decided that this would be as good a time as any to casually rush for over 200 yards, and show that he can easily dominate the ground game. This of course set up some play action for Dak who would hit for some big plays. As the Cowboys would near the endzone, this is where Dak would really take over, and carry the ball in himself.
The Giants offense was kept out of the endzone after the second quarter and had to settle for field goals. The Cowboys would find pay dirt in the fourth, to go along with their own pair of field goals and we saw the game tied up late in the last minute or two of play. Giants did enough to stop the Cowboys from marching down the field for a game winner, and this game goes to OT. Dallas wins the toss, recieves the ball, and on a huge 3rd down LB Azeez Ojulari was the man to get a sack on Prescott, forcing a punt. Giants ball, 3rd down on their own side of the field near the 40, we get a run play that would set up 4th and 2 from their 44. Holding penalty was called, Dallas declined. With roughly 2 minutes left before a tie would be called, the Giants decided to go for it knowing a failed conversion might result in a loss. Miraculously they convert, drive downfield with the running game, and the clutchest Giant of the season Graham Gano comes out and kicks the game winner.
It was a great rivalry matchup that saw a change of conservative to more aggresive playcalling from the Giants. Will it keep up, or will it bite them in the ass throughout the season? New York will be taking on the Chicago Bears in yet another home game next week.

After a solid week one game on the road, the Giants took on the Carolina Panthers for the first home game of the season. What ensued left many leaving the stadium early, as the home team lost 41-14 in what was a total blowout.
The show that Carolina put on both on offense and defense just could not be matched. Daniel Jones started the game off looking actually pretty decent on the first drive, until a redzone pass that was picked off, and he just did not seem to shake that off as he went on to throw 4 more. He did finish the day with 280 yards and 2 TDs in the air to make the final not look so bad, but it was clear to any who saw the game, that had the Panthers kept playing full-on ball, this couldve been one of the biggest blowouts in NYG history.
Defensively, there was a lot left to be desired. G-men did come away with 2 INTs, a chunk of tackles for losses, and a forced fumble. But a lot of missed and broken tackles happened as well. NYG lucked out even on a roughly 60 yard CMC run where he was faking defenders out AND breaking tackles that was called back on a hold. The team is young and while there are flashes, it's clear that there will be a lot of growth needed to take that next step. Coaching will need to improve along with the roster.
There were two goals to achieve this game for this squad (along with trying to win);Get Kalen Ballage 2+ TDs or 100+ yards, and get 3+ combined sacks and tackles for loss with Azeez Ojulari
Ballage managed to get his 2 touchdowns, cementing himself as a star back for the team, and while certain defensive players did get what was needed, Ojulari did not. Coaching staff is not worried about him though, and have faith he will prove himself throughout this season.
The Giants take on the Cowboys next week in an attempt to get ahead in the unpredictable NFC East.

In a game that featured less than stellar QB play by both teams, the Giants manage to put enough points together to come away with a win.
Daniel Jones is arguably one of the most confusing players that Coach Palpatine has seen. DJ will thread some needles, read and respond to defenses, hit a perfectly placed 40 yarder, then miss a three yard curl...Badly. That is not to take away anything from the defensive game the Titans played, but worth bringing up. Jones' main job in this offense is to complete passes, and let his weapons make plays. The G-men put up 177 yards after the catch. TE Daniel Bellinger broke a 66 yarder after catching a ball one on one in the flat. He doesn't need to reinvent the wheel, just needs to make throws that a 6th overall pick should complete. Jones is also in a contract year so one would think this is his last shot to prove himself.
Kalen Ballage is one of three running backs the Giants are fielding at the moment post-Saquon trade. He didnt get a whole lot done on the ground, but did finish with 137 scrim yards and a TD. Coach Palp does like Ballage, but is definitely looking to develop 24 y/o Darrynton Evans who will most likely be getting more touches as the season goes on.
It will be exciting to see how Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton and Daniel Bellinger compliment each other as the season goes on. All are electric players that just need to get the ball in their hands to have an impact. The team will retain Golladay and Shepard, but are calling on their younger players to be the workhorses.
New York made a lot of defensive plays, but felt the hole left by both Dexter Lawrence II and Darnay Holmes missing this week 1 matchup due to injury. Derrick Henry ripped 158 yards and 2 TDs, although Xavier McKinney did get a forced fumble from him which could've given TEN 3 points at minimum and might've been the difference between a W and a L. The Giants secondary did get two picks, and newly aquired MLB Christian Harris took a pass away as well.
Azeez Ojulari and Kayvon Thibodeaux combined for 15 tackles, 8 tackles for a loss, and 2 sacks. These two are definitely going to be on watch, as they have barely had any time to play together and are off to a solid start.
Graham Gano was announced player of the game, making every kick and extra point, including the go ahead field goal in the last minute of the game.
Giants take on the 1-0 Panthers at home next week.
