The Giants week 3 matchup against the Cowboys was about all that you could hope for in a divisional rivalry game; passing yards, run yards, key defensive plays, fourth down attempts, and a game winning field goal in overtime.
During the first half of the game, we saw both teams trying to get a feel for one another's style as we went into halftime with the Cowboys trailing 14-7. The second half is where the game got really interesting. Zeke decided that this would be as good a time as any to casually rush for over 200 yards, and show that he can easily dominate the ground game. This of course set up some play action for Dak who would hit for some big plays. As the Cowboys would near the endzone, this is where Dak would really take over, and carry the ball in himself.
The Giants offense was kept out of the endzone after the second quarter and had to settle for field goals. The Cowboys would find pay dirt in the fourth, to go along with their own pair of field goals and we saw the game tied up late in the last minute or two of play. Giants did enough to stop the Cowboys from marching down the field for a game winner, and this game goes to OT. Dallas wins the toss, recieves the ball, and on a huge 3rd down LB Azeez Ojulari was the man to get a sack on Prescott, forcing a punt. Giants ball, 3rd down on their own side of the field near the 40, we get a run play that would set up 4th and 2 from their 44. Holding penalty was called, Dallas declined. With roughly 2 minutes left before a tie would be called, the Giants decided to go for it knowing a failed conversion might result in a loss. Miraculously they convert, drive downfield with the running game, and the clutchest Giant of the season Graham Gano comes out and kicks the game winner.
It was a great rivalry matchup that saw a change of conservative to more aggresive playcalling from the Giants. Will it keep up, or will it bite them in the ass throughout the season? New York will be taking on the Chicago Bears in yet another home game next week.
