“These tables are easier to break when you’re winning” – Jim Yankatore, Lifelong Bills Mafia member
Last year could be seen as quite the improvement for a Bills team that was in the bottom five of the standings in 2018. But just being average isn’t going to cut it for Coach Bill Cowher. Coming into his third year, Coach Cowher knows that last year was a step in the right direction, but like most experienced coaches know…if you think you got better in the offseason, so does every other team. “The east is tough,” says Cowher, “We have the superbowl champs, a highly competitive playoff team, and a Patriots organization that can never been taken lightly. We just want to get off to a good start. Last year we won our first but then dropped the next few in a row. It put us in a hole that we couldn’t get ourselves out of. But that was a great experience for our young guys. Franklin, Loane, Allen, Edmunds…they all benefited from the experience of losing close games to great teams. These guys are hungry. They want nothing more than to prove to the AFC that the Bills should not be forgotten in the East.”
Cowher has a swagger about him that we haven’t seen since Willie Parker was dodging defenders for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team spent a lot of money and draft capital improving their offense. Too often last year games fell on the arm of the turnover prone Josh Allen. This often put the defense on the field more than any team would like. Buffalo added two rookie lineman, deep threat Josh Doctson, and Heisman winner Benny Snell Jr. to help Allen in those tight contests. One thing that has been consistent is the defensive line, which is home to two 2019 AFC pro bowlers. We should see a big improvement in the defense overall with 10 starters returning and the addition of Jordan Jenkins. Keep an eye on DE Derek Rivers who is sliding into the “relief” spot formally held by Jerry Hughes. If his speed is as great as it seems in practice, this defense could potentially be top 10.
Season Prediction: 9-7….playoffs?
Buffalo Bills
Offense:
Daquan Norton (TE, 22 y.o.)
Norton was acquired last year post-draft from the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent the year under the wing of long-term TE Charles Clay. Norton focused on his downfield ability and hopes to claim the starting job this offseason. Surprisingly the Bills brought in veteran Richard Rodgers who took the 1st string reps during mini camp. Norton has spent the summer with speed coaches so that he can fly past Rodgers and claim the #1 spot.

Defense:
Maurio Loane (SS, 23 y.o.)
Loane had a fantastic rookie season starting at the strong safety position. Coach Cowher used him all over the place which required Loane to become a jack-of-all-trades. This offseason Loane wanted to get better in the box and spent the offseason working the Legendary Brian Dawkins. Dawkins was a hell of a tackler, lets hope Loane learned something valuable.

Raiders send OLB Tahir Whitehead 82 ovr. 29yo Quick Dev.
After finishing 3rd in the interception department a year ago, Goat Allen is looking to improve his accuracy. He has spent the offseason working with accuracy guru, Pinpoint Jackson, to work on his short accuracy. The focus is on Allen's mechanics, less on his raw arm talent.
