Up until last season the Cowboys have not been that has brought pride to the city of Dallas or to coach Allen. The first three years the cowboys had records of 7-10, 7-10 and 6-10-1. They may have only missed the playoffs by a few games each year but were losing games that they should have won. The QB position was a question each year with Dak Prescott and gun slinger Steven Hackett trading the starting role at the haphazard discretion of coach Allen. Last year Hackett was given the keys to the city while Prescott rode the bench during his last season in Dallas, and to the leagues surprise it worked. Hackett with much help from star running back Ezekiel Elliott led the Boys to a 11-6 season, first place in the NFC East and their first playoff appearance. The wave was short lived when the Cowboys went up against the Buccaneers in the wild card round. Although Hackett did lead a game tying drive to take the game to overtime, the team was just missing a pure passing threat to be able to pull out the win. This may have bought Coach Allen a few more years at the helm but it is time to take the next step and create a well-rounded offense that can lead Allen back to the Super Bowl where he belongs.
Team Outlook
2025 Season
Reviewing the above depth chart and looking ahead to the 2025 season as we approach the draft there is one massive issue in the lineup, and that is at quarterback. As much as Coach Allen has raved about Hackett it is clear that he is not the answer going forward. The Cowboys have completed 2 franchise changing trades to move up in the draft. In the end the Cowboys sent their current 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks along with their 2026 1st , 2nd and 2027 1st round draft picks to obtain the 3rd overall pick in this draft. The draft is QB heavy with 5 first round talents. It looks that the Eagles will be selecting generation talent Garland with the 1st overall pick, with Detroit’s pick still OTB, the Cowboys are looking to have their pick of QB prospects Carruthers, Stein and Swift. Speaking with Coach Allen, he has made it clear that he will be happy with either of the three and hopes that the QB is ready to adopt the game plan and work with the abundance of talent on the roster.
The Cowboys made many moves in the offseason with the almost 60 million in cap space they had after removing Dak Prescott’s contract from the books. The Cowboys signed WR JuJu Smith-Schuster and DT Alim McNeill to 4-year deals along with MLB Germaine Pratt to a 3-year deal to replace Keanu Neal next year. They also signed veterans C JT Tretter and OLB Eric Kendricks to 1-year deals to fill gaps in the roster while they try and dev talent taken in the later rounds of this draft. With these moves complete the Cowboys believe they have produced a playoff worthy roster to compete in the 2025 season.
2026 Thru 2028
Looking forward to years 2026 thru 2028 , Coach Allen hopes to develop a team that will continue to grow on the current roster. Trading away 2 years of 1st round picks makes this a achievement that will need to be planned out ahead of time. Looking at the depth chart it is clear that there are a few positions that will need to be addressed.
Assuming that the 1st round selection this year is successful the QB position should be set for the foreseeable future.
At RB, Zeke has been a staple of the team for the past 4 years, but he is now 30 years old and coming up on a contract year. The team in Dallas did not avoid this situation, Tony Pollard had been signed to a 4-year extension and last year SS talent Dionte Battle was drafted in the third round and looks to show that he is RB1 material this year as he splits carries with Zeke. Coach Allen has made it very clear that if Zeke can stay healthy and competitive thru this year that he will negotiate an extension to keep him on the roster.
At WR, it looks that with young SS Daniel Reynolds showing his talent and CeeDee Lamb signed to a 4-year extension that there should be no lack of talent for years to come.
TE is the first major issue to be addressed on the offense past next year. Robert Tonyan is now 31 and injury prone playing on a contract year. Tonyan has made it clear that playing in Dallas past 2025 is not in his plans. After Tonyan, the Cowboys have young talent in Bacon and Bates, but they have not shown that they are able to carry the TE room. Look for the Cowboys to try and find young talent to develop in the 3rd round of the draft this year. If that does not go as planned, they will be looking to acquire a veteran talent in FA next year.
The offensive line has been addressed in the draft for the past 3 years. They have acquired young talent at LG (Tyler Vernon), RG (Todd Judge) and RT (Deionte Terry). La’el Collins will be able to hold down the left edge for 2 years, and JC Tretter is only on a 1-year deal at Center. With a lack of draft picks and time to develop a late round pick, the Cowboys will need to continue a carosel at Center and Tackle thru FA for the foreseeable future.
Moving over to Defense the Cowboys have been building for the future with much talent and depth at DE and DT. They have no plans to address these positions outside of resigning their talent in the coming years.
The linebacker core in Dallas has been one of strength for the past years but have now aged and their future is questionable with the team. The acquisition of MLB Pratt will help the loss of Neal after this year, but unless there is a change to a 4-3 defense in the next year, a 2nd quality MLB will be required. OLB is no different, with aging talent and versatility decreasing at the position. The Cowboys will have to look to FA for young talent or possibly switch to a 4-3 scheme to reduce the responsibility on an aging LB room.
The defensive back room fronted by Trevon Diggs may look strong now, but holes are coming soon. Diggs and Joseph are signed for the next 4 years, but Chidobe Awuzie is now 30 and playing on a contract year. The Cowboys will need to try and find young talent in the late rounds of this draft and next or look to FA to fill Awuzie’s spot. AT safety Malik Hooker and Jonathan Abram are signed for the next 2 years, Isreal Mukuamu has shown he can be a play maker and at 25 years of age the front office is looking for him to take a step forward this year and be a full-time starter by 2027 as he is signed thru 2028. Coach Allen has a very close relationship with Abram after bringing him over in a trade 2 years back. He hopes that Abram can stay healthy in the coming years and continue to play into his 30’s.
Not many teams give much thought to kickers and punters, but that is not how the Cowboys and Coach Allen operate. It was a very critical point by Coach Allen to draft young talent in the draft 2 years back. He couldn’t be happier with the kicking tandem of Shamell Bush and Alex Beaver that were acquired in that draft and he has made it very clear that as long as he is the coach in Dallas Bush and Beaver will be kicking his balls.
The Draft is now just 1 day away, and the pressure is all on Dallas as they draft their QB of the future. I hope that everyone has Coach Allen in their prayers.
The first 4 seasons as the Jaguars GM have been unforgettable. The critics were hard on us early saying we were years away from fielding a roster that could compete. That is not how I saw things, I believed we had the talent and just needed to fill some holes. The first few years could not have gone more to that plan, after a mediocre 7-9 season to start my career here, we went to work. That first offseason with 2 first round picks we brought in Isaiah Clifton with one pick and moved the other to get LT Terron Armstead, this alone was great, but it was the gift we never expected when we took a chance on the raw talent of Dan Archer in the 3rd round. The team now had its backbone, and the following years would show, few players would leave, and a few would be added in the following 3 years, but it paid off with back to back to back AFC championship appearances and a super bowl championship in Season 63. It is now that many of the talent positions on this team are aging and the money is drying up that this job will become difficult. To hopefully keep the amazing fans in Jacksonville satisfied in the following paragraphs I will outline what will be done in the next two years to make sure we do not take a step back.
The above chart is the breakdown of the team as is during the season 65 offseason. With a quick study it will become clear what needs to be done and a plan can be put forth. Lets first outline the positions that we do not need to worry about.
QB1 – Dan Archer will be playing in his contract season this coming year and being that this man brought the city a ring a contract extension will be reached for him to remain a Jaguar.
TE1 – Eric woods will also be signed the following year as he has become Archers safety net across the middle of the field.
RG / RT – Cam Robinson will be signed this year to continue to hold down the right side of the line with Jawaan Taylor.
LE – Josh Allen signed a 5-year extension last season
RE – Yannick Ngakoue has two years left to play and as of this offseason Deandre Walker has been moved from OLB to back him up at RE. Walker has an additional year on his contract. As of now Ngakoue is being shopped for potential draft capital and will be this year and next.
DT1 – The jaguars defensive line X-factor Isaiah Clifton will have a 5th year option on the table this year that we plan to execute and then extend his contract in the following season.
DT2 – Matthew Ioannides much like Yannick has 2 years left on his contract, he will be shopped for draft capital in the same manner. DT Tommy Thomas drafted in the 2nd round 2 years ago, has made impressive development strides playing behind 2 greats he also only has 2 years left on his contract, but we plan to extend his contract to take over the DT2 role.
OLB1 – Myles Jack had signed a 5-year extension last year.
CB1 – C.J. Henderson will have his contract extended this year.
CB2/3 – With Sidney Jones playing his final year this upcoming season in Jacksonville if not traded during the offseason young talent Josiah Scott will move up to CB2 after proving himself playing nickel corner these past 2 years. This will open up the nickel corner spot to either Tae Higgins or Omari Redmond, both have 3 years left on their contract pay close attention to the development from these 2 players this year.
SS – Ronnie Harrison still has 3 years on his contract, and we have all intensions of giving him an extension when the time comes.
K – Josh Lambo signed a deal last year to stay in Jacksonville to much of the leagues dismay.
Now that is what we don’t have to worry about over the coming years and lets be honest it is a great group of players but if we want to continue to compete for championships we need to provide a roster that has no holes. Lets look forward to what we plan to accomplish in between the current offseason and next.
Season 65 Offseason
If those 6 steps go as planned the roster will be top notch going into this next season and many holes in the future will be filled. In the following offseason we are left with two major issues: offensive line and wide receivers.
Terron Armstead and Brandon Linder will both be at the ends of their contracts and the money to extend them for a few more years will not exist. We have already started the process of shopping these two amazing talents and will look to fill these holes in next years free agency period or draft class.
The final issue will be wide receiver. Dede Westbrook will play his last year in Jacksonville this coming season and D.J. Charks final year will follow to years later, we plan to try and work a deal with Chark to stay an additional year but that is still far in the future. We plan to promote our young WR prospect Dwayne Middleton to WR2 next season and look to the draft for young talent next year to fill in at WR3 with the other players already on the roster.
It is my hopes that this breakdown will provide you with confidence in my leadership and excitement for the years to come. Dan Archer will bring this town another ring.

I think that I could make a good argument that I have never listened to a song more times then I have Closing Time by Semisonic, that is not because I love that song by any means but only because I have never left a bar before being asked to and lets just say dive bar DJs around this great country we call home lack originality along with many other good qualities a reputable employer would be looking for.
I am not one to speak on someone’s career choice as I was fired 4 weeks ago which brings me to why all of my loyal readers that I love so much have not been able to waste 10 minutes of their days reading my words. After my bender in Nashville I was called to the Jacksonville headquarters by my boss who will remain nameless. They informed me that my loose lip form of writing and clear alcoholism did not align with their company values. I have been given these talks many times in my life, from my first two wives to my mother, grandmother, and my sisters at many Thanksgiving. All I know is that in all those scenarios better days always followed and this time has been no different. Below are words that I believe everyone should live by.
“I feel sorry for people that don't drink because when they wake up in the morning, that is the best they're going to feel all day.”
-Frank Sinatra
Now to my beloved Jaguars, since you last heard from me the Jaguars have gone on a 4-game winning streak. I will outline these games below in case you do not watch the games and only read my articles, which to a purest is the only true way to follow this team. To put it short Minshew did not get better but he finally realized that he may have one of the most talented running backs in the league with Leonard Fournette and he has hitched is broken down buggy to his back and seems to have no plans to let go.
Week 3 – Jaguars 21 Dolphins 3
This was the start of the Fournette dominance with him having 12 carries for 149 yards and a TD. Myles Jack had an interception while Minshew completed his first game with no turnovers. I had been hoping the team would go down this path and cannot begin to imagine what this will lead to.
Week 4 – Jaguars 27 Bengals 24
Although Minshew did throw an interception in this game, Fournette 20 touches leading to some great game management with the Jaguars dominating the play count running 25 more plays then the Bengals. I am no football genius but from what I learned from the only other guys drinking bud heavies that night is that is a fool proof way to win a game.
Week 5 – Jaguars 20 Texans 17
This is not much to say about this game as it is the same story line as week 4. The jaguars were able to complete 38 more offensive plays then the Texans. This is all why the jaguars defense did not force any interceptions or forced fumbles in either week. Just straight up ground and pound. I honestly believe that if they continue to put up points as they have and control the clock, they can beat any team in this league. There is a long quote about any given Sunday I could post here, but I think I have reached my quote allotment for the week.
Week 6 – Jaguars 26 Lions 20
Again, this week, the lions could not get Fournette’s offensive off the field. They did force the game to overtime with a field goal with just 2 seconds left in the 4th, but with the Jaguars winning the coin flip, Minshew controlled a great drive down the field and Fournette got his first TD of the game to get the Win. He had 21 carries for 115 yards.
Now in week 7 we have a much needed by week, Fournette and his fellow teammates will have time to heel their wounds and prepare for the 4-2 powerhouse Chargers. My new publication that I have started myself and will be posting on for the foreseeable future as I don’t think I will work well with any upper management team will go by Jacksonville Official and will be posted on the interweb, I thought my son would be able to help me set up my website or domain or whatever the kids call it, but I quickly learned he has destroyed his brain with alcohol as well. Instead I hired some guy that goes by Weed, I heard on the street he has a great track record with websites. Please visit WWW.JAGOFF.BIZ and subscribe to continue to read my weekly ramblings.

“I woke up in a car”
-Andrew McMahon
-SeaShacks – Team BM
I always thought the day that I finally lived that quote it would be on a beautiful mountainside, waking up to the sunrise, a slow burning fire, and a cup of coffee. Let us just say the song holds completely different meaning in my heart now. Instead I woke up in the back seat of an unlocked car in the basement of the Airbnb, because I lost the key to my room and was locked out. I also must admit that I did not make it to the game this Sunday morning, it is now 8pm and I just finished watching the replay from my laptop in a new hotel room. I am thankful I did not make it to the game as my old alcohol-soaked heart would not have made it thru the final seconds.
Much like the story from last week Minshew needs to eliminate the turnovers. The Titans offense is scary, it seems that any play can break for a touchdown. A.J Brown broke a 73 yard TD, and Derrick Henry had an untouched 45 yard TD which was just one of three on the day. Even with two early interceptions thrown by Minshew, one going back for 6 and the offensive onslaught directed by Ryan Tannehill, the Jaguars were never out of this game.
With just over 5 minutes left in the 4th Minshew drives down the field completing his first TD pass of the season to rookie WR Laviska Shenault Jr to take the lead. The Titans then find themselves on the Jags 6 yard line with the score being 31-28. 2nd and goal just out of the 2 minute warning, Derrick Henry lines up in the wildcat. FUMBLE FUMBLE, the jags have the ball. The game is all but over. Then in what felt like hours (I don’t know how to work the fast forward on the DVR) the refs review the play and the call on the field is overturned. 3rd and goal, after being hit in the backfield Henry somehow reaches over into the endzone to take the lead. For any healthy soul that is enough to deal with, but it is not over and I don’t know if I can take anymore. Minshew constructs a drive for the ages and brings his team into the red zone. On the 16-yardline with 4 chances and 26 seconds. 3rd and 10, Eifert catches the ball in the endzone in what many thought was the end of this game, but somehow the ball is punched out and the Titans stand tall on 4th down.
At the end of the day the Jags fought and stayed in the game with a team no one said they had a chance to compete with. Looking forward to the Dolphins next week I am hopeful for what this team is capable of. For now, it is time for me to sleep and maybe make some apologies to anyone who saw me last night. Remember, its always better to fall down then lay down.
P.S. – That is me with Gardner there, striking resemblance to someone right?

“I think every woman should get double penetrated at least once. It’s an intense experience, even if you just do it with a large toy and a person, or two toys and yourself. I just think every girl should try it.”
– Joanna Angel
As I sat up last night trying to digest the ass whopping the Colts gave the Jaguars, I struggled to come up with words to inspire the fan base that this was just an experience that Minshew had to go through to become the QB and team leader we all know he is. It was then I remembered the inspirational words of adult entertainer Joanna Angel and it all made sense. In last nights game it was two large dicks being wielded by Kenny Moore II and Bobby Okereke. They combined for an interception and 2 sacks one leading to a fumble returned for 6. Minshew not only dealt with those two but had to endure a bukkake finish as the rest of the Colts defense having their shot with him.
I have always explained to my son it is moments like these that make you a man. Still not sure why he turned into a degenerate with a napoleon complex but that session is for another day. Minshew will learn from this, he will know what the game feels like at its worst and motivate the team to be their best. Outside of the interceptions he completed 72% of attempts for 337 yards. Once he works out the timing with receivers in the red zone the TD’s will come and the INT’s will go. The RB combo of Fournette and Thompson played great combining for 130 yards and a TD.
Next week we travel to Nashville to take on the Titans. This will be another test for Minshew, and I believe he will prove himself. While he sits up late in the hotel room digesting game tape from the Titans impressive victory of the Broncos. I will be visiting my favorite water hole, Crazy Town. If all else fails in Nashville, you will at least get some good stories out of me come Monday.
