I think that I could make a good argument that I have never listened to a song more times then I have Closing Time by Semisonic, that is not because I love that song by any means but only because I have never left a bar before being asked to and lets just say dive bar DJs around this great country we call home lack originality along with many other good qualities a reputable employer would be looking for.
I am not one to speak on someone’s career choice as I was fired 4 weeks ago which brings me to why all of my loyal readers that I love so much have not been able to waste 10 minutes of their days reading my words. After my bender in Nashville I was called to the Jacksonville headquarters by my boss who will remain nameless. They informed me that my loose lip form of writing and clear alcoholism did not align with their company values. I have been given these talks many times in my life, from my first two wives to my mother, grandmother, and my sisters at many Thanksgiving. All I know is that in all those scenarios better days always followed and this time has been no different. Below are words that I believe everyone should live by.
“I feel sorry for people that don't drink because when they wake up in the morning, that is the best they're going to feel all day.”
-Frank Sinatra
Now to my beloved Jaguars, since you last heard from me the Jaguars have gone on a 4-game winning streak. I will outline these games below in case you do not watch the games and only read my articles, which to a purest is the only true way to follow this team. To put it short Minshew did not get better but he finally realized that he may have one of the most talented running backs in the league with Leonard Fournette and he has hitched is broken down buggy to his back and seems to have no plans to let go.
Week 3 – Jaguars 21 Dolphins 3
This was the start of the Fournette dominance with him having 12 carries for 149 yards and a TD. Myles Jack had an interception while Minshew completed his first game with no turnovers. I had been hoping the team would go down this path and cannot begin to imagine what this will lead to.
Week 4 – Jaguars 27 Bengals 24
Although Minshew did throw an interception in this game, Fournette 20 touches leading to some great game management with the Jaguars dominating the play count running 25 more plays then the Bengals. I am no football genius but from what I learned from the only other guys drinking bud heavies that night is that is a fool proof way to win a game.
Week 5 – Jaguars 20 Texans 17
This is not much to say about this game as it is the same story line as week 4. The jaguars were able to complete 38 more offensive plays then the Texans. This is all why the jaguars defense did not force any interceptions or forced fumbles in either week. Just straight up ground and pound. I honestly believe that if they continue to put up points as they have and control the clock, they can beat any team in this league. There is a long quote about any given Sunday I could post here, but I think I have reached my quote allotment for the week.
Week 6 – Jaguars 26 Lions 20
Again, this week, the lions could not get Fournette’s offensive off the field. They did force the game to overtime with a field goal with just 2 seconds left in the 4th, but with the Jaguars winning the coin flip, Minshew controlled a great drive down the field and Fournette got his first TD of the game to get the Win. He had 21 carries for 115 yards.
Now in week 7 we have a much needed by week, Fournette and his fellow teammates will have time to heel their wounds and prepare for the 4-2 powerhouse Chargers. My new publication that I have started myself and will be posting on for the foreseeable future as I don’t think I will work well with any upper management team will go by Jacksonville Official and will be posted on the interweb, I thought my son would be able to help me set up my website or domain or whatever the kids call it, but I quickly learned he has destroyed his brain with alcohol as well. Instead I hired some guy that goes by Weed, I heard on the street he has a great track record with websites. Please visit WWW.JAGOFF.BIZ and subscribe to continue to read my weekly ramblings.
