The Kansas City Chiefs have brought in two new weapons for Trevor Siemian, who is surprisingly top five in the league in passing yards. With a good group of receivers, Siemian will be able to air the ball out more often with a lot more confidence in Brandin Cooks and Dre Loane alongside Chris Conley.
Loane hauled in a good chunk of yardage in his first two games recording over 70 yards in each game. Cooks took a week to adjust to the scheme, but hauled in two TDs and recorded 140+ yards against the Bills. The Chiefs have now built a four game win streak and will face the Saints next week.
The Kansas City Chiefs were able to grab a major win for their first victory of the season over the red-hot Oakland Raiders in week 4, taking the Raiders down by a score of 37-10. Kansas City was able to take advantage of a couple of minor weak spots in the Oakland defense to expose the Raiders. The Kansas City defense was led by their offensive line that provided plenty of pressure and got into the backfield effectively.
Offensively, the Chiefs were led by a stellar game from veteran QB Trevor Siemian who put up 264 yards passing on 14 of 20 passing with 2 TD's. Chris Conley was able to take advantage of a matchup against Dontravious Thomas, who transitioned from safety to corner. Demarcus Presley led the way in rushing for the Chiefs, picking up 4.6 yards per carry on 18 carries for 83 yards and a TD. Ace Holley and Curtis Mundy both hauled in TD receptions on the game, providing nice depth to the Chiefs receiving corps.
On defense, the Chiefs held the Raiders to just 30 yards rushing on the game, with Latavius Murray recording just a 2.4 yards per carry average and 12 yards on 5 rushes. Two quarterbacks saw snaps for Oakland as Derek Carr had his worst performance of the season, completing just 6 of 15 passes for 103 yards with an interception. It was Carr's first game without a TD this season. Connor Cook would also see time in the fourth quarter, but didn't fare much better, as he completed just 2 passes on 3 attempts, with the 3rd attempt resulting in an INT.
The Chiefs do not play the Raiders again and have split the season series as a result of old management being removed after bad performances. KC travels to Denver next week to take on the Broncos in their first matchup of the year. The game will provide a nice barometer of where this Kansas City team is at.
The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the year with a 19-7 win over the San Francisco 49ers following season 71's OMFL Bowl win over the Patriots. The Eagles were able to capitalize on the 49ers errors in the game, picking off newly-added QB Russell Wilson 5 times in what was a rematch of a divisional round playoff game from last season.
Philly saw this game as a feeling-out process with the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. into the receiving corps. OBJ moved all over the field against the 49ers playing the slot and the #1 WR spot on many plays, but the standout performer was Dorial Green-Beckham, who caught two passes for 79 yards and a TD.
CJ Prosise was able to put up 80 yards rushing on just 12 carries against a stingy SF run defense that was top five in the league last season. Wendell Smallwood struggled with two fumbles, but gave the Eagles their other TD of the game on the goal line.
Defensively, new starting safety Rashawn Colclough grabbed 2 INT's, while Darqueze Dennard, Kelcy Lumpkin, and Ron Rood Jr. hauled in one apiece.
Philadelphia travels to New York in week 2 to take on the Giants in what will be their first divisional game of the year. The Eagles swept the season series last year.
The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the quieter teams in the off-season, only making one splashy free agent signing with Odell Beckham Jr. joining the squad for one season. The defensive line was a position group that was up in the air going into the off-season, but Jeremiah Attaochu returned and brought Derek Wolfe, Chris Jones, and Vernon Butler along to play the DT positions.
Mychal Kendricks and Lane Johnson also returned on more team-friendly deals after their OMFL Bowl victory. CJ Prosise will split time in the backfield with Wendell Smallwood, with Daniel Lasco likely getting some loose carries. The team will be largely the same as the front office didn't want to ruin the chemistry of the group that went 14-1 down the stretch last season. Odell Beckham Jr. will be filling the role that Sammie Coates possessed in 2019.
The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to clean house after making the final run with the core group that was in place for the past season. The cuts began shortly after the parade with Mychal Kendricks, Bennie Logan, Jason Kelce, Lane Johnson, Rodney McLeod Jr., Devonta Freeman, Zach Ertz, and Chris Covington all receiving their walking papers.
The move was strictly a business decision as the Eagles have now freed up enough cap space to go after depth which was sorely lacking during the season and perhaps even a superstar or two. The offseason should prove to be a fun one as Philly has positioned themselves for another run next season.
The Philadelphia Eagles were able to take down the Buffalo Bills in snowy Philly this week, taking down the team that GM Ducks used to run by a score of 31-12. The Eagles put together a strong performance on the ground with Wendell Smallwood rushing for nearly 150 yards, while Parrish Mayberry ran for 47 yards.
The Bills came in with one of the top passing attacks in the league and were unable to surpass the 100 yard mark till well after halftime of the game against Philadelphia as former Ducks protege Brett Hundley threw 5 INT's, increasing his total from 13 to 18 INT's on the year.
Philadelphia's defense forced 6 total turnovers with Deion Jones recording 3 INT's on the game while adding a sack to his stat-line as well.
The Eagles will be fighting for their playoff lives against the Vikings next week, facing another strong passing attack.
