Well we have survived yet another blunder this cycle. Leaving no doubt that Leaguevival is resilient, as if that was even a question.
So far this season, we haven't seen the record breaking stats on offense happen every week as we did in previous seasons. This is due to the new sliders, going back to All-Madden, and the new rules we have implemented. Glad to see this!
Now let us get to the meat and potatoes of this article: Interceptions
Through 5 Weeks, the league already has four QBs with 10 or more interceptions.
Let's take a deeper look into this...
AI controlled Mac Jones currently leads the league with 15 INTs (2 more than he had all of 2021 Season). Of these 15 INTs, 8 came against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was a week after the Bengals threw 7 picks to the Steelers. This is interesting and leads to the question: How many picks do the Steelers have???
Well if you answered 20 then give yourself a pat on the back. 20! This puts the Steelers on pace to have 68 INTs in one season...
As shown in the chart above, 4 of the top 5 teams in INTs are user teams. It is clear to see that user teams have a clear advantage over CPU teams in this aspect.
Conclusion:
There is a reason that users have had such a massive advantage over CPUs in intercepting passes this season. If you have played a user in the top 5 of the chart above, you have seen it first hand. The reason for this is that Madden grants a significant boost to users when switching to make an INT. Even if your WR has some space, it is quickly dissolved when a user switches onto the DB/LB. This rewards quick users who are ready to switch at all times and jump the routes.
What is to be done?
Well this part of the blog is not up to me. But I will list the options as well as some small steps that the league will take in response to the extremely high INT numbers.
This will be an interesting development as we push through the rest of this cycle.
P.S. Keep Grinding Bradley, it can't get any worse than it is right now... or can it???
