Week 2 Predictions

Week 1 Overreactions

Washington will not make it to the Super Bowl.

I picked Spades to make the Super Bowl in Season 1, and he very well still might. But week 1 against the Chargers was a tough first test that Jordan Love and company did not pass.

The Falcons will not make the playoffs.

The NFC South was a two horse race coming into the season, and neither of those were Hova. The Falcons were one of three NFC south teams to fall in week 1, and looked bad offensively. With a loaded NFC West, the Falcons are looking like the early favorite to miss out on a wild card spot.

DK will set the NFL single season record for TDs.

DK Metcalf had 6 TDs and over 250 yards in Week 1. While I don't expect that every week, DK has shown he can beat any defender one on one and is a streak away from scoring on any given play. In what should be a high scoring division, DK will have plenty of opportunities to rack up both yards and touchdowns.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR WEEK 2

Falcons @ Buccaneers

The Bucs were the only NFC South team to win in Week 1 and face a Falcons team that couldn't get anything going offensively.

Prediction: Bucs win 21-17

49ers @ Eagles

The Eagles surprised many and beat the Falcons week 1. They get a very good 49ers team next.

Prediction: 49ers win 35-17

Cowboys @ Chargers

The Chargers won a thriller in week 1 against WFT. Meanwhile the Cowboys lost in a game they were expected to win. I think the Cowboys step up and show some urgency in this one

Prediction: Cowboys 35-28

Raiders @ Steelers

The Steelers got a sim win in Week 1. Stavo's first test of the season is week 2 hosting Trick and a fast raiders squad

Prediction: Steelers win 28-24

Vikings @ Cardinals

#playclockgate shouldn't be an issue when the Vikings travel to a high powered Cardinals team led by Warrior.

Prediction: Cardinals win 42-21

Bengals @ Bears

The Bears are looking to bounce back against a much more balanced opponent.

Prediction: Bengals win 24-21

Rams @ Colts

The Colts put up 49 points in week 1, but also surrendered 63 on defense. The Rams don't have DK but they do have inside zone.

Prediction: Rams win 49-35

Bills @ Dolphins

Two teams that simmed week 1 will test their new teams for the first time.

Prediction: Dolphins win 35-21

Giants @ Washington

Washington looks to bounce back at home against a tough Giants team

Prediction: Washington wins 42-28

Saints @ Panthers

The Saints allowed 50+ points in week 1 and travel to a Panthers team with speed everywhere.

Prediction: Panthers win 42- 24

Broncos @ Jaguars

Two 1-0 teams with playoff hopes collide in week 2. Monty continues his streak from the offseason.

Prediction: Broncos win 31-21

Lions @ Packers

The Packers will look to continue their offensive dominance in week 2 against a rebuilding Lions squad.

Prediction: Packers win 28-17

Texans @ Browns

The Browns lost badly in week 1, while the Texans were still trying to join the league. Can Sherm get his first win of the cycle with that team?

Prediction: Browns win 20-17

Chiefs @ Ravens

Two high powered teams face off in what could resemble Seahawks-Colts by the end of it.

Prediction: Chiefs win 49-42

Patriots @ Jets

The Jets surprised a lot of people by beating the Panthers in week 1. They'll try to keep that momentum going when they host the new look Pats led by Chris.

Prediction: Jets win 31-24

Titans @ Seattle

DK is coming off a historic week 1 performance. The Titans are coming off a tough loss to the Cards. Neither feel like playing defense.

Prediction: Seahawks win 42-38

Side Prediction: DK regresses to 2 TDS

Season 1 Predictions

SEASON 1 PREDICTIONS

The first season of Madden 22 is FINALLY upon us. With everyone itching to get started, this week should bring some exciting games and roster moves

Here are my predictions for the upcoming season!

NFC DIVISION WINNERS

NFC North: Packers

With a stacked team and unproven newcomers Kavik and 2nice in the division, I'm going with the proven Fink.

NFC South: Panthers

The last Super Bowl winner of Madden 21, Jonesy continues his excellent play, finishes with a better record, and wins the division.

NFC East: Washington

Spades continues his excellent play into season 1, edging out his brother in Dallas.

NFC West: Rams

This division should host some really good games all cycle, but season 1 is redemption season for Ostrich.

AFC DIVISION WINNERS

AFC North: Steelers

Stavo should be able to fend off the competition to win the North.

AFC South: Jaguars

Goku has the team and talent to own the AFC South.

AFC East: Dolphins

TheStrawBlacks is one of the best players in the league, and will win the division.

AFC West: Chargers

A tough division sees Jsmoove and the Chargers edge Monty and Gramz and win the West.

SUPER BOWL PREDICTION:

Washington (Spades) vs. Dolphins (StrawBlacks)

TRADE WATCH

The players most likely to be traded during Season 1:

Kyle Fuller / Bryce Callahan

The Broncos have 5 CBs above 75 overall, including rookie Patrick Surtain II.  With both of these guys' contracts expiring after the season, it is likely Monty wants to get something from at least one of them.

James Robinson

Fantasy hero RB1SZN has quickly fallen out of favor for first rounder Travis Etienne. He has low speed and is only a star dev. Goku might try to get something out of him while his overall is inflated and before he needs to be resigned.

Jason Kelce

An aging superstar in the last year of his contract. Gudda could try to add even more to his draft capital.

AWARD PREDICTIONS:

MVP: Kyler Murray

Kyler is nearly impossible to stop and will be a headache for every opponent.

OPOY NFC: Cam Akers

Akers will get plenty of touches from a very good user.

OPOY AFC: Derrick Henry

Henry was already impossible to tackle and now will face less stacked boxes with Julio and AJ on the outside.

OROY NFC: Trey Lance

DW has already announced Lance as the starter and has plenty of weapons to make him effective.

OROY AFC: Trevor Lawrence

Goku and Lawrence will start their cycle off the right way and cap the first season with ROY honors.

DPOY NFC: Jeremy Chinn

A fast safety on a good defense will create plenty of turnovers for the Panthers.

DPOY AFC: Minkah Fitzpatrick

One of the scariest Safeties in the league on one of the best defenses. He should get plenty of chances to create turnovers.

DROY NFC: Micah Parsons

93 speed LB with a good user should be a gimme.

DROY AFC: Caleb Farley

Farley will start for a bad Titans defense, giving him plenty of opportunities for turnovers.

What to Watch for Week 1

Cowboys @ Buccaneers

While I’m not necessarily looking for a win here, it will be interesting to see if Hova can take advantage of a very good team this cycle. Being competitive in this matchup will be a good start.

Prediction: Cowboys 35-21

Eagles @ Falcons

Gudda sniped the Eagles and their draft capital right from under StrawBlacks. Stack took the Falcons to compete with Jonesy. Both will look to get a jumpstart in their respective divisions with a win here.

Prediction: Falcons 24-17

Steelers @ Bills

I don't know if anyone saw Mike taking the Bills #1. Nonetheless, he gets Stavo Week 1 to start a brutal couple of weeks. The Steelers may well be the steal of the draft with their defense and talent at the skill positions.

Prediction: Steelers 38-21

Vikings @ Bengals

Newcomer and top 5 chat member 2nice makes his primer debut against Doc and the Bengals.

Prediction: Bengals 21-20

49ers @ Lions

Deathwish begins the Lance era against a bad Lions team with questionable ownership.

Prediction: 49ers 28-21

Cardinals @ Titans

The two cheesiest offenses begin the season against each other. Kyler and his game-breaking speed look to win on the road against Tannehill and his embarrassment of weapons.

Prediction: Cardinals 42-28

Seahawks @ Colts

Rice begins the campaign against a new member. Look for the deep ball to DK early and often.

Prediction: Seahawks 31-17

Chargers @ Washington

Two teams with all the potential in the world look to take their first steps toward cycle dominance.

Prediction: WFT 38-24

Jets @ Panthers

Zach Wilson will be fine, but what other weapons will step up for the Jets. Panthers should be fired up and ready to go.

Prediction: Panthers 35-14

Jaguars @ Texans

Arachno saved some bottom teams from a really bad Texans team. Meanwhile, Goku saw the Jags shockingly fall to 22. Jags look to start their rebuild and the Lawrence era with a division win on the road.

Prediction: Jags 31-10

Browns @ Chiefs

Can Sherm be more competitive with a top team in Madden 22? He’ll get his first chance against an equally good Chiefs team led by Gramz.

Prediction: Chiefs 35-17

Dolphins @ Patriots

StrawBlacks with Miami is a very good fit. He’ll get a chance to test Waddle against a good Pats D. Meanwhile, the Mac era will begin against one of the best secondaries and players in the league.

Prediction: Dolphins 28-10

Packers @ Saints

Two Super Bowl or bust teams will face off Week 1. How will Madnaiss handle the QB situation In New Orleans? How will A-Rod and Adams fare to start their Last Dance campaign?

Prediction: Packers 24-17

Broncos @ Giants

Primer Tournament winner Monty continues his hot streak against a new Giants owner.

Prediction: Broncos 28-17

Bears @ Rams

Who won’t be tuning into this one? Ostrich’s first game back with a suffocating Rams defense against newcomer Kav1k.

Prediction: Rams 42-14

Ravens @ Raiders

Tiny took the Ravens over his own Titans. Can he take advantage of their speed and defense this cycle? His first test will be against a subpar Raiders team.

Prediction: Ravens 24-14

Madden 22 - Early Power Rankings

Power Rankings - EA Trial / Early Access

Most of us have gotten our hands on Madden 22 in the last week with the full release coming this week!

As the Team Draft and Madden 22 cycle get closer, we take a look at each team’s prospects for a full cycle. (Favorite teams and potential draft spots not taken into account.)

1. Cleveland Browns

They have stars and youth at every position and a good offensive line. They will be good for the entire cycle.

2.Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are built to win now and in the future. The combination of Mahomes, Hill, and Kelce will be hard to stop. The defense has Chris Jones stuffing the middle and Mathieu lurking.

3. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have a loaded defense with playmakers at every level and a young elite QB Justin Herbert. They should be competing for the entire cycle.

4. Buffalo Bills

The duo of Josh Allen - Stefon Diggs will be fun to use. The defense has good pieces, starting with Tre White. A couple moves could make them an elite team by year two.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

One of the most popular teams for franchise drafts, this team has youth and potential everywhere. They could be the best team in the league by year three.

6. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are another popular team to take for their youth and talent. They could be the NFC version of the Jags by year three.

7. Green Bay Packers

The Packers have talent on every level, an elite WR and CB, and a gunslinger QB that should give you two or three seasons.

8. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens have Lamar and Hollywood Brown torching defenses and a defense with talent at every level.

9. Washington Football Team

Another team with a lot of young talent. They are good now, but they could be one of the best after a couple seasons of development and a few key pieces.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

They have elite WRs and speed on defense. The only knock is their lack of an elite RB, and some aging key pieces.

11. Minnesota Vikings

A team that can win now, the Vikes have Dalvin, JJ, and Theilen putting up points. On defense, they have Hunter, Kendricks, and Peterson shutting down the pass game.

12. Tennessee Titans

Now that the hype around them has died, this is a much more realistic spot. The offense will be impossible to stop with Henry and two star receivers.

13. Seattle Seahawks

Russ and DK will carry the offense while Wagner and Adams carry the defense. The rest of the team needs work.

14. Arizona Cardinals

They were much more attractive last year, but their defense will be good at the start and their QB is mobile and young.

15. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys elite offense will keep them competitive in the NFC East. Their defense will need some work.

16. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have a good young offense and their defense could be elite with a few additions.

17. Denver Broncos

The Broncos are a QB away from competing in the AFC. They have great young receivers and a defense that is looking good again.

18. Los Angeles Rams

Two 99s on defense is very attractive. The offense is capable, but the age and lack of speed drop them down the board.

19. New Orleans Saints

They have talent and stars on every level but their cap situation and their potential QBs drop this team.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are being overlooked because of Big Ben but they can be an elite team with a better QB.

21. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have young talent on offense and a defense that can carry them for a while.

22. Carolina Panthers

CMC will carry the offense, and their defense has a lot of speed and youth.

23. Atlanta Falcons

The Julio trade still hurts, but this team has Kyle Pitts, Calvin Ridley, and a fast LB core. They will need some pieces but they will be fun to play with.

24. Chicago Bears

Someone is going to reach for this team for a chance to play with Fields but the rest of the team is aging and lacks speed.

25. Cincinnati Bengals

Their offense could be elite after a season or two but their defense needs a complete overhaul.

26. Las Vegas Raiders

Ruggs will still be annoying to deal with and they got better on defense as well.

27. New York Giants

They have Saquon and some good pieces on offense, but their defense needs work.

28. Indianapolis Colts

Johnathan Taylor will be fun to use and the defense has some star pieces.

29. New York Jets

Zach Wilson and his 94 throw power are attracting a lot of attention. This team’s youth puts them above the rest.

30. New England Patriots

Cam is old and Mac has awful throw power. They got better on paper in the offseason but that might not translate into wins right away.

31. Detroit Lions

The Lions need an overhaul and will be hard to win with for a couple seasons.

32. Houston Texans

Deshaun being a star is inexcusable, and they need everything else too.

Madden 22 Mock Draft

STACKx Mock Draft - Madden 22

Welcome to the Not-Too-Early SML Primer Madden 22 Mock Draft! This is my prediction of where each team will go next year.

Let's get right to it!

1.Tennessee Titans

The Titans were already going to be hard to stop with the best Madden running back Derrick Henry plowing through defenses, even with the subpar defense. The blockbuster trade for Julio Jones pushes them all the way to #1. This is the team users are going to create leagues for just so they can control. The 2019 Chiefs and 2020 Ravens. Whoever gets this team has no excuse for not winning several playoff games in the cycle.

2.Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs lost some key pieces on the offensive line, but those are the easiest positions to replace in Madden. Patrick Mahomes' cannon of an arm and Tyreek Hill's game breaking speed keep this team one of the most dangerous in the game, not even accounting for Travis Kelce and the rest of the speedy receivers. The defense is a weakness but Mathieu and Jones will keep users honest while the younger players develop.

3. Baltimore Ravens

In my opinion, the Ravens are nowhere near as attractive as they were a year ago, and after looking at this roster I'm not sure why. They still have Lamar and Hollywood Brown, enough to torch defenses on the ground and through the air. They still have a really good defense with playmakers at all levels. I think Lamar was definitely "nerfed" in 21 and other mobile qbs like Deshaun Watson and Kyler Murray were seemingly more consistent through the air, keeping me on the fence about this team's value in team drafts.

4. Green Bay Packers

It's looking like that Aaron Rodgers trade probably won't happen before the next cycle, and the Packers are one of the strongest teams in Madden. Davante Adams and Jaire Alexander are two of the best at their position, and they have a lot of playmakers on both sides of the field. Of course, with Rodgers you get the game breaking gunslinger ability and one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the game.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A lot was made of the Bucs bringing back all 22 starters from last year's Super Bowl winning season, and the Bucs are another one of these complete teams with stars all around. Yes, whatever user takes this team  will probably only have Brady, Suh, and Gronk for a season or two before they retire, but luckily those positions are easy to replace in Madden. The rest of the team is loaded with young stars from Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, to Devin White and Winfield Jr.

6. Cleveland Browns

This team could very well be overlooked going into team drafts. In my opinion, they are the most complete team in the game and they have the one thing most other strong offenses lack, a strong offensive line. Don't forget all their stars are young and will last the entire cycle. I could list the Brown's entire roster as reasons to pick this team, but at the end of the day it comes down to maintaining the stars from last year and adding Jadeveon Clowney on the other side of Myles Garrett. This is the team I would pick if I had the #1 pick in the draft.

7. Los Angeles Chargers

The further I get down this list, I realize how many teams are STACKED coming into next season. The Chargers are another team with talent all around. Their defense is going to be one of the best in Madden with Derwin, Bosa, and Murray on that side. On offense they are set at QB with Herbert and probably at HB at Ekeler. Their user will need to prioritize finding a speedy receiver to pair with Keenan Allen and fix the offensive line, but they are set to be successful for the entire cycle.

8. Buffalo Bills

The Bills bump way up this list from last year with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs developing into one of the lethal QB-WR duos in the league. They will be a popular choice for users that like to go deep and play pass heavy. Their defense is capable of stopping most teams with Tre White leading the way. Their user will need to sure up some holes on that side and find a better option at HB to be one of the best in the league.

9. Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings are another team way up the list from last year. Dalvin Cook is one of the best backs in the game and the pair of Thielen and Jefferson on the outside will give defenses fits. They've also put effort into improving their defenses, namely bringing in Patrick Peterson from Arizona.

10. New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees is gone and this team will need to decide if Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill is a long term answer. The transition will be easier with Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and a solid offensive line. They also have stars at all levels of the defense, including Cam Jordan and Marshon Lattimore. The fact this team falls this far is a testament to how strong some teams are coming into the year and also a factor of some teams being flashier options. Whichever user this team falls to will be getting a gift.

11. Arizona Cardinals

This team might be taken a lot higher if someone is in love with the Kyler Murray-Deandre Hopkins tandem or the game breaking Isaiah Simmons, but they have a lot of holes, and aren't America's team like the Cowboys. The addition of JJ Watt gives their pass rush a boost but he and Chandler Jones will regress fast. Their user will need to fill a lot of holes on both sides that aren't easy to find in Madden, namely an HB, pass rushers and defensive backs.

12. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys remain one of the strongest offenses this year, with Dak returning, Zeke still being good on paper, and a strong receiving core. Their offensive line isn't great anymore, but they're still pretty good. The defense has Jaylon Smith and LVE, but linebackers were ineffective in Madden 21. This team will be taken because of their strong offense or because there's a Dallas fan among us.

13. Seattle Seahawks

I had this team in the top 3 last year after the Jamal Adams trade. Somehow that did not translate to an overpowered defense. This team still has Russ and a breakout year from DK should have him as one of the best WRs for the next cycle.  The Seahawks have regressed bad but the standouts on this team have them as probably a more popular option than the rest of the teams.

14. Los Angeles Rams

The Rams are, in my opinion, one of the best mid round options. Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald set this team up for success in two of the most important positions in Madden. The offense only got marginally better with Matt Stafford always being underrated in Madden. The rest of this offense is good as far as skill ratings, but lack the most important Madden ingredient, speed.

15. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars are one of those popular, flashy picks that could go way higher if someone wants a team they can build over the cycle. While I'm not sold on the idea of Tebow at TE, this team has young stars everywhere. From last year ROY candidate James Robinson, to rookies Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne, to the WR tandem of DJ Chark and Laviska Shenault, this team is set up for success in the long term. The defense is set up the same with Myles Jack, K'lavon Chaisson, and CJ Henderson leading the charge.

16. Washington Football Team

Wasn't this team supposed to get a name this offseason? No matter, they are still a strong pick and getting them this late will be a gift for a good defensive user. They have a very strong defense with one of the best defensive lines in the game and two young star pass rushers. They also improved that side with the addition of William Jackson III. The offense will run through the speed of Scary Terry and Curtis Samuel, and a good, not great, backfield duo of Gibson and McKissic.

17. Pittsburgh Steelers

This team has a lot of talent that will ultimately be overlooked for one reason, Big Ben. Their Hall of Fame QB is getting old and will need to be replaced sooner than later. This team is set up for success in almost every other area, though, with a rookie RB Najee Harris that "works too hard" and 2nd year wide-out Chase Claypool looking to cement himself as their number one option. The defense has a star pass rusher in TJ Watt and a playmaker on the back end with Minkah Fitzpatrick. This is one of those teams a late picker would be happy to have.

18. New York Giants

The New York Giants may well go from laughing stock to division winner this year IF they can stay healthy. The addition of Kenny Golladay gives the Giants a true number one option and of course the offense still runs through Saquon Barkley. Both those guys spent more time off the field than on it last year though, so their user will need to be cautious of their potentially high injury risk. The defense needs some work in the long term, but the offense has more than enough to keep pace in the NFC East.

19. Denver Broncos

The Broncos could be a QB away from competing. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Noah Fant give the user some nice weapons to throw to and Melvin Gordon is a capable HB. The defense is reloaded and can force some turnovers, even in a loaded AFC West.

20. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins value hinges on how you see Tua. If you think he is the future, then you see a team with good, young receivers to go with it. If you don't want to play with a left handed QB, then you see someone who needs to be replaced. Don't forget about the potentially game breaking Jaylen Waddle. The defense should be good enough to win in a mostly incompetent AFC East. Jerome Baker, Byron Jones and Xavien Howard will carry the defense for most of the cycle.

21. Philadelphia Eagles

The arrival of Jalen Hurts and addition of Devonta Smith make the offense enticing enough. The defense is similar to the Rams in that they have enough in Fletcher Cox and Darius Slay to remain competitive, despite lack of playmakers elsewhere.

22. San Francisco 49ers

We're at the point where each team will have some nice players and position groups, but also several holes to fill. The 49ers have one of the best TEs in the game in Kittle and a good young receiving core. They will need to figure out who their QB is moving forward and fix some holes in their defense to compete in a very competitive NFC West.

23. Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are one of those teams like the Jaguars, where their young stars and potential may force them off the board earlier. They are set up to succeed almost everywhere on offense except the offensive line. They will need some good draft picks or signings to sure up the defensive side of things.

24. Atlanta Falcons

The Julio trade hurts this team’s appeal a lot. Matt Ryan’s awful contract and the lack of a runningback add to this team’s drop in value. They also got worse on an already bad defense, losing both starting safeties. A closer look shows a capable roster, though. The addition of Kyle Pitts is exciting as he is probably the most "sure thing" in the draft, and Calvin Ridley is positioned to be one of the top pass catchers in the league. They have Grady Jarrett and Deion Jones to attempt to hold things down while some of the younger pieces develop.

25. Chicago Bears

The Bears may finally have their franchise guy in Justin Fields. He will surely be a lot of fun for whatever user ends up with this team. The rest of the offense needs work but he'll at least have Allen Robinson to throw to. Their defense isn't as terrifying as they were in the recent past, but Khalil Mack can still wreak havoc in the backfield.

26. Las Vegas Raiders

Whoever takes this team probably wants to abuse Henry Ruggs' speed, but other than that, they have Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller. The defense has gotten better with the additions of Ngakoue and Casey Heyward, but they still have a lot of work to go to compete in the AFC West. They'll probably go higher than they should just because they're the Raiders and there will undoubtedly be a Raiders fan in here.

27. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers replaced Teddy Bridgewater with Sam Darnold. Time will tell if that move pays off in real life. In Madden, it mostly means a less mobile QB with similar accuracy ratings. Let's get to the point, though. If you're picking this team, you're doing it for Christian McCaffrey.

28. Indianapolis Colts

Unfortunately for the Primer, there's not a Colts fan picking number 1 and this underwhelming team will fall hard. Carson Wentz may be serviceable in Madden, but the Colts successful style of defense doesn't translate well into video games without name brand superstars. They do have Johnathan Taylor at HB who should be able to develop into one of the best in the league.

29. New England Patriots

The Patriots added some weapons and are unquestionably better on paper than last year. Their user will have to decide whether to go with Mac Jones or use Cam to start, but at least he has people to throw to now. Their defense is going to keep them respectable, led by Stephon Gilmore.

30. Houston Texans

The Texans were awful heading into last year after losing Hopkins, and now they lose JJ Watt. Deshaun Watson is the only hope this team has of being competitive, if he can stay on the field. He also makes them more attractive than the remaining two teams.

31. Detroit Lions

The Lions traded away Matt Stafford and lost Kenny Golladay, as if they weren't bad enough already. They did recoup some draft picks from the Stafford trade (if Madden codes them in properly) and Goff is as serviceable as anyone. Make no mistake, this is a team you get stuck with at the bottom, but there's one reason they aren't ranked last: their jerseys. They are without a doubt better than the Jets, and when you’re stuck with a choice between two awful teams, pick the one with the jerseys you'd prefer to look at all year.

32. New York Jets

The Jets are the running joke of the league, and may be the worst team heading into next year. 2nd overall pick Zach Wilson brings a fresh arm to the Big Apple and won't be ruined by Adam Gase. At the end of the day, though, this is a team you get stuck with. It will take a good user to develop this team and make them competitive.

Conference Predictions

Last week: 2-2

Overall: 5-3

We saw some great games in the Division round, and now we’re left with the best four teams remaining and a chance to play in the Super Bowl on the line.

(5) Browns at (3) Chargers

Both these teams won on the road in the Division round to get here. The Chargers shocked the Jags while the Browns beat their rival and perennial playoff opponent Ravens. The Browns hot streak just won’t seem to end and they won in Baltimore, a considerably tougher place to play than L.A.

Prediction: Browns defeat Chargers

(2) Eagles at (1) Saints

While both top seeds in the AFC lost in the Division round, the top two NFC teams handled business and will face off to determine who plays in the Super Bowl.  The Saints and rookie QB Rhett Hackett have been great this year, but the Eagles showed what they can do knocking off the defending champion Cardinals in a convincing win.

Prediction: Eagles defeat Saints

Super Bowl Prediction: (5) Browns vs (2) Eagles

2020-08-04

Playoff Predictions Division Round

(3) Chargers at (2) Jaguars

The Jaguars blew a 14-point lead to the Chargers in the regular season. Since then they’ve won five in a row. They also have the number one defense in the league and the number one running back in yardage this season. If they get a lead, don’t expect them to blow it this time.

Prediction: Jaguars defeat Chargers

(5) Browns at (1) Ravens

These two teams also met in the Division round last year, with the seeding flipped. The Browns lost two close games to the Ravens in the regular season, but are on the hottest streak in the NFL right now. The Ravens come in after a deflating loss to the Dolphins that ended their hopes of a perfect season. The Browns are looking to avoid losing three to their rival to keep their hot streak alive.

Prediction: Browns defeat Ravens

(3) Cardinals at (2) Eagles

It’s easy to pick the reigning Super Bowl champions here, but they cannot underestimate this Eagles team that has beaten some good teams this year. Plus the Philly crowd could cause a slow start for the Cards. Expect a close game, but I have to pick the defending champs.

Prediction: Cardinals defeat Eagles

(4) Vikings at (1) Saints

The Vikings proved me wrong and won a close in the Wildcard round. The Saints, though, are the best team in the NFC right now and rookie QB Rhett Hackett has been sensational in his first season.

Prediction: Saints defeat Vikings

Playoff Predictions Wildcard Round

It’s playoff time again! The last regular season for Madden 20 is in the books, and while some weird things have happened, we’re left with the best 12 teams in the NFL. The WIldcard round should be entertaining. Let’s get right to it!

(5) Browns at (4) Bills

The Browns had a bad start this year, going 1-5 after making the Super Bowl last season. Somehow, they turned it around to got into the playoffs. The Bills, on the other hand, are coming off a home loss to finish the season. The home crowd should be hotter this week then in their Week 17 loss, but the Browns have a bit more firepower on both sides of the ball. Match that with their hot winning streak and I believe they get the edge here.

Prediction: Browns defeat Bills

(6) Broncos at (3) Chargers

The Broncos are riding a 4 game winning streak and have won 6 of their last 7 games, but the Chargers won both meetings between these two teams in the regular season. The Broncos will be motivated to not lose 3 to a rival, but a hot home crowd gives the Chargers a boost and they’ve proven to have the Broncos’ number.

Prediction: Chargers defeat Broncos

(5) Falcons at (4) Vikings

The Falcons won 7 of their last 8 games to get the last playoff spot. The Vikings won the division, but lost in some big games this season. They also had a tie with the 3-win Lions team. The Falcons may be on the road, but they have the momentum. Expect the Vikings to start hot in front of their fans, but i think the Falcons get the win.

Prediction: Falcons defeat Vikings

(6) Redskins at (3) Cardinals

The Cardinals were the number 2 at one point and have been competitive all year. The Redskins, on the other hand, have not been the same since the first half of the season and have lost two owners this year. That’s going to prove to be too much to overcome on the road in the playoffs.

Prediction: Cardinals defeat Redskins

Madden 21 Mock Draft

MADDEN 21 MOCK DRAFT

With another Madden comes another team draft. That means users lining up, hoping their favorite team, or at least a decent team, is available when their name is called. This mock draft is projecting the order all 32 teams will be selected.

1.Ravens

Lamar Jackson has been the best and most fun player to use in Madden since the legendary 2004 Michael Vick. Combine him with a good running back and a young deep threat in Hollywood Brown and this is one of the most potent offenses in Madden. Their defense gives them the edge over the Chiefs as they added Calais Campbell and still have a very good secondary.

2. Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is the undisputed best QB in the league and Madden does a good job replicating this. Combine him with the scariest WR in Madden, Tyreek Hill, and one of the best TEs in Kelce and the Chiefs are once again a team that will put up a bunch of points every week. The defense is not too bad either, with Chris Jones and Tyrann Mathieu being the top playmakers.

3. Buccaneers

The Buccaneers are the new popular team after acquiring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski this offseason. While Brady is not mobile and will most likely retire after one season, QB is the one of the easiest positions to replace. The rest of the team is young and dangerous with several stars. The secondary is a weakness that needs to be addressed but the defense is loaded with talent, including fan favorite Devin White.

4. Seahawks

The Seahawks were already a favorite with enforcer Bobby Wagner and the mobile Russel WIlson. Add in the blockbuster trade for another enforcer in Jamal Adams and the Seahawks defensive cheese will be on par with the offensive cheese from Ravens and Chiefs users. While I fully expect EA to nerf one or both of these players, they are still able to stuff the run and cover passes without abilities while playing positions most players like to user.

5. Saints

The Saints may be the most complete Madden team as they are strong at every level with no weaknesses. Drew Brees may retire after one season, but again QB is easily replaceable. The rest of this team has everything someone can ask for: a star HB, a star WR, a strong offensive line, a star DE, good LBs, and young stars in the secondary. Like the Spurs they have the talent to win it all but are just not as exciting as the teams projected above them.

6. Browns

The Browns Madden team is much better than their real life counterpart. Though Mayfield played poorly last season, his digital self is more than good enough, and he has a strong supporting cast with OBJ, Landry, Hunt, Chubb and newly acquired TE Austin Hooper. Their defense is also loaded with star pass rusher Myles Garrett and a strong secondary that includes Denzel Ward.

7. Cowboys

The Cowboys will probably underperform again this season, but they remain one of the best teams in Madden 21. Their offense is stacked with a mobile QB in Dak, one of the best HBs in Elliott, and a strong WR group that includes rookie CeeDee Lamb. Their defense did lose Byron Jones but still has a star DE in Demarcus Lawrence and young star LBs in Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch.

8. Packers

The Packers offense will be really good in Madden 21 now that they finally have a reliable HB in Aaron Jones. Of course everyone already knows about Aaron Rodgers, Devante Adams, and their strong offensive line. Defensively they have a star rusher in Za'darius Smith and a young star CB in Jaire Alexander. The Packers should contend every season.

9. Falcons

The Falcons could go higher as their offense is very strong with QB Ryan, HB Gurley, and WRs Julio and Ridley. On defense they are a good Madden team with 80+ OVR players at every level. Their CBs, and their awful new jerseys, push them down the board.

10. Cardinals

The Cardinals are a very attractive team for Madden 21. They have a young mobile QB in Murray and the newly acquired Deandre Hopkins. On defense they have a really good pass rusher in Jones, a good CB in Peterson and a star rookie with Isaiah Simmons. The Cardinals offense aside from Murray and Hopkins is suspect though, and keeps them from going any higher.

11. 49ers

The 49ers lost Deforest Buckner and Emmanuel Sanders in the offseason, but will remain an attractive option this year based on last season alone. They do have a strong defense and one of the best TEs in the league, George Kittle. They also have an improved offensive line and still should have a strong running game.

12. Chargers

The Chargers are competitive at almost every level. Users have a choice to make between Tyrod Taylor and Justin Herbert, but they have good to great pieces everywhere on offense. On defense they have two star pass rushers and the versatile Derwin James at SS.

13. Rams

Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey alone make this a good choice for Madden 21. The rest of the team is just OK but they do have a good WR group led by Cooper Kupp.

14. Bills

For the first time in a long time, the Patriots are not the best AFC East team in Madden. That team is the Bills. The addition of Stefon Diggs should help this offense tremendously. The Bills also have a very good defense led by the underrated Tre'Davious White and a young, strong arm QB in Josh Allen.

15. Vikings

The Vikings lost Stefon Diggs but still have Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook. They also have stars everywhere on defense including DE Danielle Hunter and big hitter Harrison Smith.

16. Bears

The Bears did not live up to expectations last year, but they will still be a good pick for Madden 21. Trubisky is mobile and good enough in Madden to lead an offense and has WR Allen Robinson and HB Tarik Cohen to work with. The defense is still very good at every level with Khalil Mack, Kyle Fuller, and Eddie Jackson leading the way.

17. Broncos

The Broncos defense may not be as dominant as it once was but it's still pretty good with Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, and Justin Simmons, along with newly acquired AJ Bouye. Offensively, they have two dangerous HBs with Lindsay and Gordon, a star WR Courtland Sutton, and a young QB Drew Lock. They have everything a Madden player looks for.

18. Texans

The Texans drop way down this list after losing Deandre Hopkins, but they still have one of the best QBs Deshaun Watson and added speedy Brandin Cooks. The defense, like the Broncos, has seen better days, but they still have JJ Watt rushing QBs.

19. Steelers

The Steelers offense struggled in Madden 20 and is set to struggle again. They do still have Ben and Juju and that may be enough for most games. The defense is the real reason to pick this team with fan favorites TJ Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick standing out.

20. Eagles

The Eagles defense was really good in Madden 20 and they added Darius Slay this offseason. The offense is a bit of a question mark and Carson Wentz is criminally underrated to start Madden 21.

21. Titans

Many users will want the Titans for Derrick Henry alone, but the Titans also have good young WRs led by AJ Brown and a decent QB in Tannehill. The defense is also good at every level led by Kevin Byard.

22. Patriots

The Patriots are not the sure bet they once were but Cam makes this offense at least a bit more potent. The defense should be fine with Gilmore leading a strong secondary.

23. Bengals

Joe Burrow is bringing hope to this team in real life and in Madden. He also has Joe Mixon, AJ Green and Tyler Boyd to work with. This team will struggle on defense but any team this far down will have weaknesses.

24. Washington Football Team

I would not be surprised if this team goes much higher or even lower given the unique situation surrounding them, but they have a really young team full of potential that includes Montez Sweat, Terry McLaurin, Dwayne Haskins, and Chase Young.

25. Giants

The Giants have a lot of holes but Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley give this offense a chance to keep pace while their defense figures it out.

26. Panthers

The Panthers are similar to the Giants in that they have a lot of holes, but Christian McCaffrey and some speedy receivers should help them put up some points.

27. Colts

The Colts have some attractive players to put them over the rest of the teams, including TY Hilton, Darius Leonard, and new addition Deforest Buckner.

28. Lions

Kenny Golladay is another player that got screwed by Madden’s early ratings, but he should be great after a season of developing. They still have Matt Stafford’s strong arm and some good HBs. The defense should be respectable and acquired CB Desmond Trufant in the offseason.

29. Dolphins

The Dolphins made big moves bringing in Kyle Van Noy, Byron Jones, and Tua Tagovailoa to give this team a better chance to compete than a year ago. They still have a lot of holes but Tua puts them above the rest of the bad teams in terms of attractive teams to draft.

30. Jaguars

The Jaguars had an excellent draft bringing in CJ Henderson, K’Lavon Chaisson, and Laviska Shenault. They also have Minshew magic and speedy DJ Chark on offense.

31. Jets

The Jets took a huge blow losing Jamal Adams and end up all the way down here because of it. They do have a young QB in Sam Darnold and star HB Le'veon Bell to lead the offense. CJ Mosley and Avery Williamson stand out on defense but losing their star safety will hurt.

32. Raiders

The Raiders are a team with a dedicated fan base and I’m sure they could find their way up the board depending on the user, but they do not have much talent to work with. They do have Josh Jacobs and Darren Waller but the rest of the team is unimpressive and this team will struggle in a tough division.

Super Bowl Prediction!

SUPER BOWL PREDICTION

(2) Cardinals vs (1) Browns

First off, thanks to my friend Mad Bomber TV for the graphic above!

It's here. The goal of all 32 teams at the beginning of each season is to win the Super Bowl. One of these teams will actually accomplish that goal this week. An exciting playoff season has landed us here and the NFL's two best will battle for the coveted Lombardi Trophy.

The field is down to two. One of these teams will taste the sweetest victory in all of sports and one team will have a bitter end to their season knowing they were one win away from immortality.

On the AFC side is the 1st place Cleveland Browns. They won a close 27-20 game against the Ravens in the division round and shutout the Colts 16-0 in the AFC Championship to make it here. Their defense has proven they can step up when they have to and the offense has shown it can put up points as well.

On the NFC side we have the 2nd place Cardinals. They held off the Lions and the hot Redskins to get to the big game. They have leaned heavily on the run game while getting outstanding play from their defense along the way. They have the ability to make enough plays in the run game and on defense to defeat the AFC best Browns.

Both have had hard earned victories to get here, and both are more than capable of winning this game, but I believe the Browns will best the Cardinals on the biggest stage and walk away with the trophy.

Prediction: Browns defeat Cardinals

Conference Championship Predictions

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTIONS

The divisional round brought us some very good games. The field is down to four with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. Which two teams will step up and move one step closer to their ultimate goal?

AFC Championship: (3) Colts @ (1) Browns

Two different roads to the playoffs. The Colts held off a hot start from the Jets last week to advance while the Browns survived a shootout with the division rival Ravens 27-20. The Colts biggest test of the playoffs comes against the best team in the AFC with a super bowl berth on the line. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Colts defense make enough plays to win this one but i think the Browns road to the Conference game has better prepared them for this moment and they move past the Colts and onto the Super Bowl.

Prediction: Browns defeat Colts

NFC Championship: (4) Redskins at (2) Cardinals

The Cardinals survived a nail biter to get here while the Redskins have run through the NFC South’s best and handled the Saints with an impressive win. The Cardinals defense was suspect against the Lions so watch for the Redskins to take advantage. I had the Redskins losing last week and they turned it into a 35-14 win. I won't make the same mistake this week. I'm picking the Redksins upsetting the Cardinals on the road and moving to the Super Bowl.

Prediction: Redskins defeat Cardinals

Division Round Predictions

DIVISION ROUND PREDICTIONS

An entertaining wildcard weekend gives us a lot to look forward to in the division round. I went 3-1 in predictions last week as the only game I got wrong was the Lions very impressive handling of the 49ers. This week the games are a lot tougher to call as the field shrinks but let’s get right to it.

(5) Ravens at (1) Browns

A division rival game in the playoffs is always fun. Both teams were top 5 in the AFC in most offensive and defensive categories and this should be a very good contest. The Ravens are coming off a 41-0 beating of the Raiders in the wildcard round and will be riding that momentum in another road game. Being a game between two closely matched division rivals, this gane could go either way, but I'm predicting the home team Browns get it done in the end and advance to the AFC Championship.

Prediction: Browns defeat Ravens

(3) Colts at (2) Jets

After a 35-23 win in the wildcard round, the Colts get a real challenge this week in the Jets. The Jets were 1st in the AFC in passing yards and 3rd in points per game.  The Colts were fifth and fourth, respectively. The Colts outperformed the Jets defensively in the regular season though, and the Jets defense has been suspect at times. I think this one will be a shootout and the Colts defense will make just enough plays to get a win and move to the AFC Championship.

Prediction: Colts defeat Jets

(3) Lions at (2) Cardinals

I had the Lions losing last week and they impressed with a 30-10 win over the 49ers. This team has the coaching to go all the way but the Cardinals seem like the obvious better team. A really close call but I see the Cardinals advancing to the NFC Championship.

Prediction: Cardinals defeat Lions

(4) Redskins at (1) Saints

The best game of Wildcard Weekend saw the Redskins beat the Falcons with a touchdown in the final minute. The Redskins look really good right now and are more than capable of upsetting the Saints on the road. I don’t think they will though. The top team in the NFC is coming off a week of rest and their home stadium is perhaps the toughest place to play. The Saints get it done and advance to the NFC Championship.

Predictions: Saints defeat Redskins

Wildcard Predictions

PLAYOFF PREDICTIONS - WILDCARD ROUND

The most exciting time in football is here, the playoffs! The Wildcard round is stacked this year with several potential upsets that could shake up the rest of the playoffs. My predictions are based on overall records, team overalls, and offensive and defensive performance during the regular season. (Note: this is assuming a Colts win in a late week 17 matchup.)

(6) 49ers at (3) Lions

Both teams boast top 4 offense and both teams have key injuries on defense that should contribute to a high scoring affair. The Lions are coming off a huge 41-3 win in week 17 against the Vikings. Despite that they are still the Lions, and with 49ers play improving under new ownership I wouldn't be surprised to see a shocking upset.  In the first upset of the playoffs, the 49ers get the win and advance.

Prediction: 49ers defeat Lions.

(5) Falcons at (4) Redskins

Of all the games on wildcard weekend, this is perhaps the hardest matchup to predict. The Falcons were 3rd in sacks while the Redskins were 4th in interceptions. Redskins were 6th in PPG and 4th in rushing touchdowns, though, so that should put them over the top. Redskins advance.

Prediction: Redskins defeat Falcons.

(6) Chiefs at (3) Colts

Chiefs are coming off a loss to close the season, losing the division in the process. That alone would kill most team’s morale at the time of year they need it most. Especially a wild card team on the road.  Despite losing all momentum heading into the playoffs, Patrick Mahomes always gives the Chiefs a chance, and they may come out with more fight than most are expecting.  Still, the Colts are coming off a huge 28-3 win in week 17 and have established themselves as a threat in the AFC. The Colts will protect home field and advance.

Prediction: Colts defeat Chiefs.

(5) Ravens at (4) Raiders

The Raiders clinched the division in week 17 with a big win over the Chiefs. Their prize? A wildcard matchup against Lamar Jackson and the 12-4 Ravens. The momentum and home crowd will provide a boost for the Raiders, but the Ravens prove too much to handle and get a road win to advance.

Prediction: Ravens defeat Raiders

Mock Draft 1.0

With the regular season concluding, many teams are looking to the future and the most exciting part of every offseason is unquestionably the NFL Draft. This mock draft is based on current playoff position and the top prospects in the first round. The order of teams 21-32 may change as the playofffs progress.

1.  - Dawann Cannon - LE - Texas A&M

The Giants could go O-Line here but also need a pass rusher and Cannon is clearly the best in the draft.

2.   - Scott Clemons - TE - Michigan State

Despite the record, the Bengals don’t have many holes so they take the best TE in the draft.

3. - Lucas Dell - LT - USC

The Patriots have a massive gap at LT and Lucas Dell is the highest rated prospect in the draft.

4. - Kendall Peck - CB - Buffalo

The Seahawks need depth at CB and take Peck.

5. - Rhett Hackett - QB - Oklahoma State

The first QB comes off the board with Hackett.

6. - Joey Phillips - RE - Florida

Phillips falls into the Vikings lap and improves their pass rush instantly.

7. -  Dre Finley - WR - Michigan State

The Titans get one of the top WRs in the class.

8. - Duncan Barnhartt - QB - Tennessee

The Chargers reach for their QB of the future.

9.  - Simon Morrow - C - Boston College

The Dolphins need help on the O-line and Morrow should be an immediate boost.

10. - Jeffrey Overstreet - WR - LSU

Overstreet should contribute immediately to a Jaguars offense still searching for a true number one option.

11. - Kent Winslow - HB - Florida A&M

The Texans take the first HB of the draft to improve their running game.

12. - Josh Mooney - RE - Oregon State

The Cowboys get a steal at this point with Mooney. He should contribute immediately.

13. - Armani Metcalf - RT - Arizona State

The Bears fill a hole at RT with Metcalf.

14. - Jimmy Whitfield - LE - West Virginia

The Bills don’t have many holes and add a pass rusher.

15. - Bill Bullocks - CB - Minnesota

The Broncos improve their secondary with Bullocks.

16. - Mike Craver - MLB - Boise State

The Packers add to the front seven with Craver.

17. - Brody Brewer - TE - Wisconsin

The Steelers get a boost at TE with Brewer.

18. (via Phi) - Tom Lynch - RG - San Diego State

The Ravens have holes in their offensive line and use their first pick of the first round to get Lynch.

19. - Vincent Ellington - ROLB - N.C. State

The Panthers get the game wrecker from N.C. State.

20. - Leron Cheeks - RE - Georgia

The Redskins get Cheeks to boost the defensive line.

21. - Joseph Wallace - QB - Texas Tech

With an aging Cam Newton at QB, the Lions draft for the future.

22. - Davon Samuels - MLB - North Dakota State

Colts get a boost in the middle of the defense.

23. - Ellis Cates - WR - Lafayette

The Rams get a WR to pair with Cooks and add depth.

24. - Keith Donaldson - CB - Toledo

49ers add a potential playmaker.

25. - James Williams - CB - BYU

Raiders also go CB and add depth in the secondary.

26. - Lynn Clifton - MLB - Arkansas State

Chiefs’s get a physical player in Clifton.

27. - Mario Compton - CB - Georgia Tech

The Falcons need a playmaker in the secondary and Compton played his college ball just down the road.

28. - Matt Burton - ROLB - Idaho

Ravens need help at ROLB and find help at the bottom of the first found.

29. - Malcolm Reeves - ROLB - Southern Arkansas

The Cardinals also need help at ROLB and get the next best ROLB on the board.

30. - Tyson Dent - TE - Ole Miss

The Browns don’t have any glaring needs and draft a top TE prospect.

31. - Sterling Warner - ROLB - Nevada

The run on ROLB continues as Saints also find themselves with a need for a playmaker here.

32. - Mike Ambrose - QB - W. Michigan

The Jets draft a valuable backup and potential starter from W. Michigan.

Final Thoughts on Jags Season

Well, it was an up and down season for the Jaguars and their fans. A seven game losing streak after starting the season 4-1 led to a change in owners. That change inspired the Jaguars play, and allowed them to finish the season 3-1 for a 7-9 overall record on the season.  While they will be missing the playoffs, the Jaguars have a lot to look forward to in the future.

Ryquell Armstead, while injury prone, remains one of the league’s best playmakers. An injury filled season saw him rush for just 591 yards and 5 TDs.  If he can stay healthy, the Jags running game, which also includes Luther Bartell, should be much better in 2025.  The defense played well below expectations for most of the year.

They did finish 4th in sacks with 51 and 3rd in forced fumbles with 9, but they were 20th in points allowed and 20th in interceptions. This team is filled with playmakers and one has to wonder if coaching will be addressed in the offseason.

The passing game is where Jacksonville needs the most help. Teddy Bridgewater showed some flashes but has yet to prove he is the franchise quarterback the Jags are looking for. His 25 passing TDs were good for 10th in the NFL. Wide Receivers DJ Chark Jr and Kevin Bayer are good starters but a true number one option should be the Jags biggest concern this offseason.

Looking forward to next season, the Jaguars fans should be excited about the potential this team showed at the end. If they can secure a playmaker or two on offense during the offseason, sure up the turnovers, and live up to expectations on defense, they could be serious contenders for a division title next year.

Jags Defense Steps Up, Secures Win Over Dolphins

After playing well in Weeks 14 and 15, the Jaguars offense looked really bad in Miami, managing just 3 points. QB Teddy Bridgewater had only 99 yards on 9-15 passing and an interception. Luther Bartell, coming off back to back 100+ yard rushing games, was held to 69 yards on 11 carries. The

Luckily the Jaguars' stellar play on defense kept them in the game. Four different players recorded a sack, including Josh Allen who now moves past Raiders legend Howie Long with 85 career sacks.

The defense also came up with two redzone turnovers, an early interception by Jalen Ramsey at the Jaguars 1 yard line and safety Ronnie Harrison's 102 yard interception with 2:33 remaining in the fourth for the first touchdown of the game.

Miami had a chance to tie the game late, but a fumble recovered by Jalen Ramsey was returned for the team's second defensive touchdown with 1:50 remaining to put the game out of reach for the Dolphins.

Up next is a Week 17 game against the 6-9 Texans, coming off a loss to the Titans. With both teams out of playoff contention, the Jaguars chance to finish the season 8-8 after a seven game losing streak may be enough motivation to put them over their division rival.
