Welcome Back to Another Madden

Welcome Back to another NML league season. As we approach the new game coming out we wanted to highlight some changes for this upcoming season.

First we want to welcome Preston to the commissioner team.

Second, we have tweaked a number of rules this offseason.

1) 4th down is now 4th and 3 or anything over the 50 yard line

2) Trades must be sent to the commissioner team for approval, players can only be traded twice a season, and each owner is limited to 4 trades per season.

3) While we allow position edits if the depth chart allows we have regulated changing CBs to S. You can still move them however you can not use them as SubLB

4) We now have limited the CAP restructuring to the first season since madden has added new features to contracts

We look forward to another great Madden.

Early Game Recaps

Early Game Recaps

Season 7 is starting out with a bang with some early matchups.

December was the time of giving, but the Broncos started early.

LAC 42 - DEN 28

This game came down to turnovers plain and simple. The Broncos turned it over 3 times and lost by 2 scores. The Chargers caused 3 interceptions by 3 different players on their way to victory. Justin Herbert, who was speculated to not be in LA this season, threw for 280 yards and 3 touchdowns. It wasn't all bad for the Broncos, the leagues number one running back ran for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.

I don't want it, you take it!
KC 14 - CLE 31

Rust runs heavy in this game as both teams combined for 8 turnovers. Neither offense wanted to control the football. The Chiefs lost despite running for 220 yards with Maholmes throwing 4 interceptions. The Browns took advantage of the turnovers made by the Chiefs to take the lead and not look back.

J.E.T.S Ready for Takeoff!
NYJ 34 - NE 0

The Jets are picking up right where they left off last season. The former #1 seed in the AFC launched both an aerial and ground assault on the NE Defense who had no answers for Watson and Hawkins. The NE offense was also missed the flight to NY as they only mustered 113 yards for the entire game.

Big 12 Football has arrived in the NFL

NO 34 - SF 66

If you wanted to see defense this was not the game for you. Like the Big 12 in college there was not a defender to be seen during this game. Justin Fields and Trevor Lawrence combined for nearly 1100 yards throwing and 100 points. I imagine that there will be some defensive coordinators polishing up resumes after this game. The difference here was 4 turnovers committed by the Saints. This recipe won't last long for either team if they want to have success.

Run, run, and run some more!

MIN 21 - TB 45

No surprise that both these teams came out running. Minnesota has one of the fastest backs in the league and Tampa's coach just runs until the wheels fall off. Combined between the two teams 460 yards were gained on the ground with Tampa contributing 332 of them. Similar to other games early on this one came down to turnovers as the Vikings threw 3 interceptions in this game.

2024 First Quarter Recap

2024 First Quarter Recap

The first quarter of the 2024 NFL season has come and gone with many twists and turns. We will be breaking down the first quarter winners and losers, MVP race, and the hunt for the playoffs.

Winners and Losers

Winners:

In the AFC, the teams we have grown accustom to remain at the top of the standings. Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Los Angeles Chargers, and Tennessee are at top of their respective divisions which is something that a familiar sight with each of them winning their divisions the last two seasons. There are a few surprises emerging in the AFC with Houston and the New York Jets posting a respective 3-1 record for the first quarter.

In the NFC, we have some major surprises at the top with Seattle and New Orleans now leading the way with 4-0 records. Both teams have been in rebuild in recent years and it is great to see their GM work coming to the top. The Eagles and Bears round out the division leaders which is no surprise since they are in the playoff each year.

Losers:

In the AFC, there are two teams that have had rather disappointing starts to their seasons. Kansas City which has been a playoff team year in and out have found themselves posting only a 1-3 record and the second team would be Indianapolis, 0-4 who have the youngest team in the league. The Colts have stockpiled picks over the last few seasons and the have yet to hit their full potential. But the good news for both teams is that the season is still young so there is plenty of time to rebound.

In the NFC, there are two teams that are really struggling that is a complete surprise to everyone. First being the Carolina Panthers who traded away their workhorse in CMC for Mike Evans resulting in a 0-4 start. Second would be the Super Bowl runner up Arizona Cardinals finishing 1-3. Both teams have been in the playoffs each year, however with the emergence of the Saints and Seahawks both teams have an uphill battle on their hands to get back.

First Quarter MVP:

Joe Mixon, RB, Buffalo- No Surprise! Mixon has posted 928 yards and 12 touchdowns so far this year setting him up to rack up 3700 yards and 48 touchdowns by the end of the season.

AFC OPY- Joe Mixon

AFC DPY- Myles Garrett, ROLB, Tennessee- Myles Garrett is off to a tear on the defensive side of the ball finishing the first quarter 21 total tackles and 14 sacks.

NFC OPY- Joe Burrow, QB, New Orleans- Joe Burrow changed teams in the offseason finishing with 1300 yards and 17 touchdowns.

NFC DPY- Micah Parsons, LE, Seattle- Parsons finished the first quarter with 13 tackles and 12 sacks.
