The eagles started the 2020 season on a hot streak. They quickly took control of the division and Josh Allen looked to be blossoming into a potential mvp candidate. Even the defense, which has always been a weakness under the current coaching staff, was looking good with unheralded olb ben banagu leading the league in sacks though several weeks. But things suddenly took a turn for the worse. It was almost as if some all powerful force changed the difficulty level on the field. The once dominant pass rush suddenly had no push while the rest of the league seemed to find their pass rushing groove. Then due to a sudden vacation by the coach The team went on a losing streak.
Fortunately through the UNIMPEACHABLE leadership of coach/president Don Trump the eagles were able to get back on track and started to win their way back into lead in the nfc east. But just as soon as they took the lead in the division the idea of a playoff berth went to their heads. And in an epic choke job the team blew a huge lead to the Cowboys who came back in the 4th quarter. And with a go ahead kick to end the game the team not only lost any mathematical possibility the division lead but the wild card spot as well.
Even though Coach /president Trump admitted the season was “a huge bummer” he also pointed out that there was reason to be excited about the future. He said next season he won't be so distracted by his campaign “which was mostly the democrats fault” but mostly because of the young breakout players that have emerged. Most notably rookie te Albert O who if it weren't for the streak of losses would have almost definitely led all tight ends in rec yds and tds over the saints cheesy oj Howard.
A few other young promising players were ss Ashtyn davis and MLB Jordyn brooks (who both annoyingly decided to spell their names with y’s instead of o’s as some sort of bromance pact with one another). Both were among league leaders in tackles. Also surprise, olb banagu made his first pro bowl and is expected to continue to improve. Also Allen is expected to take another leap in development after his probowl season.
The eagles now look to capitalize on the 4 draft picks they have stockpiled in the first 2 rounds. Hopefully coach /president Trump can in fact make the eagles great again after all.
Saints
The saints season started out as a total train wreck. Starting with a huge losing streak and followed by suspension of qb1 Baker Mayfield (but more on that later). Coach Lewis Litt attributes the teams poor performance early in the season to the one thing.
"The fact that many of our players have kids really hurt the team " Litt told nfl times "As anyone knows once you have kids you productivity level drastically drops. Everyone knows that. Once we mandated that all children of players be shipped off to boarding schools or sweat shops throughout Asia things really impoved. And of course that really helped turn things around."
Though the removal of children improved the saints chances, there was more drama that the team had to face. About a quarter of the way through the season and right after the teams first win, news broke that qb Baker Mayfield was in hot water for an off field business venture. It seems that the young quarterback was co-owner of a men's gay bath house that was on the FBIs radar for being run as a brothel. This cost not only Mayfield but running back Derrick Henry 4 games on suspension. Mayfield once again tried to run from the arresting officers but video showed it did not end well.
"what can I say, it was making good money... So Colin Cowherd can shut his f***in mouth!" Was Mayfields response when questioned about the charges. Then he proceeded to grab his crotch.
The reason the suspension was so short was later revealed when it came to light that many league officials including Roger Goodell were frequent patrons of 'The Happy Hole bath house'.
The season did have a few bright spots though. A several mid-season trades proved to be huge additions. McCaffrey had an outstanding year rushing and receiving. Samuel was among the league leaders in most receiving categories. Even Mayfield despite his dubious activities costing him 4 games he still managed to lead the league in passing.
Though the defense was the weak point in the team, even they saw improvement at the end of the year. Seeing good sack numbers from 2 young linebackers Gerry and surprise of the year David Long.
With a full off season without distractions and a strong draft the saints are feeling like they can be competitive in the division next season and maybe make the playoffs.
