New Orleans Saints Midseason Repor

Introduction

After some bold moves to start the season that included the trading of QB Jameis Winston, the Saints were optimistic to a good season. Jameis was traded to the Detroit Lions for QB Jared Goff and a late round draft pick. That was not the end of the teams QB troubles, Goff only lasted one game in a Saints uniform as the team sought to trade for QB Marcus Mariotta. The team is now 2-6 on a 2-game winning streak that they look to continue next week against the Baltimore Ravens.

Offensive Breakdown:

The team ranks 18th offensively so not much production there. Mariotta is 2-4 since joining the team. He’s thrown for over 1,400 yards, 8 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He’s completing 54% of his passes and holds a QBr of 62.0 for the season. Alvin Kamara is the leading rusher 607 yards on 107 attempts. With a 5.7 average Kamara looks to up his numbers in the second half of the season. However, with as many touchdowns as fumbles (4) Kamara will look to get in the endzone more and loss the ball less. Newcomer Jarvis Landry is the team’s leading receiver with 29 receptions for 519 yards and 2 touchdowns. Starting G Andrus Peat also deserves recognition for only giving up 1 sack in 8 games played.

Defensive Breakdown:

The team ranks 32nd defensively so there’s only room to improve. The defense is lead by LB Demario Davis with a team high 60 tackles. On the backend CB Marshon Lattimore has 8 interceptions double more than the next person. Safeties Tyrann Mathieu and Marcus Maye each have 4 interceptions themselves and are respectively 2nd and 3rd in tackles. We are hoping the defensive efforts in the last two games motivate and inspire the offense and defense for the second half of the season!

New King in Town

New King in town!

Pre-season analysis: With the addition of Matthew Stafford the Rams automatically look towards the playoffs as they feel they are the team to beat in the NFC West.

Week 1 Recap: Before the game the Rams made a few additions:

MLB Wesley Woodyard signed a 1 year, $2.25M contract
LG J.R. Sweezy signed a 1 year, $3.25M contract
LE Olivier Vernon signed a  year, $3.55M contract
QB Robert Griffin III signed a 1 year, $1.65M contract

Now it was time to hit the field. LA opened they season versus the Bears at home. Chicago hit the ground running, securing a 21-0 lead by the end of the first quarter it looked to be a blowout. However after a lengthy conversation with the coach Matthew Stafford and the offense picked it up. The game came down to perfectly execuated 4 minute drive led by Matthew Stafford that led to the game tying touchdown punched in by Cam Akers. A gutsy call for the 2 point-conversion was successfull and a game selling interception by David Long Jr. secured the 39-38 victory for the LA Rams.

Back In Office

Offseason Preview

After a lengthy vacation Coach Allen has returned to the office.

Firstly, I want to thank CB Richard Sherman for his service to the team. I have had the pleasure of being your coach for the last 3 years and in that time, he’s been nothing short of a leader! Enjoy retirement Sir!

Next Up I want to congratulate some award winners.

  • First up let’s give a round of applause for AFC Offensive Rookie of The Year QB Micale Cunningham.
  • Secondly let’s give a round of applause for SS Jammie Robinson and MLB Drew White for finishing 3rd and 9th respectively in the race for AFC Defensive Rookie of The Year.
  • Lastly big round of Applause for SS Marcus Maye for finishing 10th in the AFC Defensive Player of the Year rankings.

Next up is the resigning period. The Jets had 25 players entering their last season as the season started. Now that the season has finished I happy to announce that 11 of those players will be returning the team in hopes winning the Super Bowl as a New York Jet. Best wishes to those that decided not to renew their contracts with the team.

Whose the rookie?

In the 1st round we took Mase. Hopefully learning from Matthew Judon develops him in to and elite pass rusher!

With my second first round pick we chose Nicole Cunningham. It'll be a intense training camp between him and Ian Book for the starting job!

In the 2nd round we drafted SS Jammie Robinson. With a deep defensive backfield Jammie has the all the time to develop into the center fielder we need him to be!

In the 5th round we drafted Drew White who will be paired with Avery Williamson in hopes of creating a fearful MLB duo!

In the 6th round we drafted Mr Washington who we hopes brings some versatility to the team as he's made the switch to DE in hopes of getting to the QB more!

In the 7th round we added another defensive lineman. Matt will provide us with some much needed rotation upfront with the big guys!

Jet Landed?

The New York Jets had a decent 2020 season finishing 7-9 and missing the playoffs. Things never took off with Adam Gase at the helm the and the owners decided it was time for a change. The Jets hired Christian Allen to the head coaching position at the end of the season and hoed he could turn the team around.

During the offseason Coach Allen made some key additions: Damarious Randall, Derek Barnett, Forrest Lamp, HA HA Clinton-Dix and Laurent Deuvernay-Tardif are all players traded or signed during free agency during this eventful offseason. Eventful draft for the team headlined by Penei Sewelll Jets looked to had found their identity.

With the trade deadline 2 weeks away don’t be surprised if the team makes some moves. Currently 2-3 and sitting in 3rd in the AFC East the New York have hit a stump. Currently in a 3-game losing streak the Jets seem to be finding themselves back at square one. Currently 1st in the league in rushing yards the rookie CJ Verdell has lived up to the hype. Through week 6 CJ has already recorded 9 touchdowns averaging 7.6 yards per carry. When asked about the team’s struggles CJ did not shy away from the spotlight, he aggressively asserted that it was his lack of impact on the game that is the reason for the losses simply put JUST GIVE HIM THE BALL.

Next up the Jets return to MetLife in hopes of hitting .500 by beating the 3-1 Jacksonville Jaguars.
