Roller Coaster Regular Season

After taking over the G-Men before the 2021-2022 season GJ knew there was going to be a lot of work, especially since the G-Men have not made the playoffs in 6 years. Seeing some good in what was already on the roster GJ went to Free Agency to address core weaknesses like the linebacker position. Heavily spending on LBs really helped boister the G-Mens's defense even though they finished 25th overall in defense alot of good did come from the defense. GJ King's offense was the bright spot for the G-Men finishing 8th in PPG, 2nd in PYPG, and 14th in RYPG puts GJ's Offense at overall 5th. In first season as head coach GJ was able to turn the franchise around with a culture change ephasis on winning. The New York Football Giants was 4-5 going into the bye week off winning two big games against the Chiefs and the Raiders, GJ could tell that the players have completely bought in to the system. During the bye week, GJ could tell that this was the turning point for his G-Men and the season. After letting the players take most of the bye week off Big Blue gets back to work and finished the second-half of the season 8-2 squeaking into the playoffs as the 7th seed going 5-1in division games. Now making the playoffs after a six year drought there was a lot of hype around the Giants being real playoff contenders for years to come. With the cards stacked against the G-Men as the 7th seed, they face an opponent from earlier in the season the Cam Newton driven Panthers with a vengence as the number two seed. Big Blue falls to Carolina. With a loss comes a lesson for the Giants and an off-season to reflect. What's next for New York and their G-Men will they make a leap and win there first playoff game since the 2011 Super Bowl??

Humble Beginnings

"Humbling taking over a rebuilding franchise as a new head coach." " It makes you appreciate winning, because the taste of defeat is vile." Quote by GJ King after Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Big Blue are now 2-3 in the NFC and looking to bounce back against the LA Rams. This will be a a tall task for Big Blue but they have not lost back to back games yet this season. Will Big Blue bounce back or will they for short on there task??!!

Humble Year

Cincinnati Gazette

A humbling year for the Cincinnati Bengals. During off-season the Bengals were predicted to be the favs coming out of the AFC North especially after most analyst believe that they were a QB away from being Super Bowl contenders. In the off-season Cinncy was sure that they had there guy and with the 27th overall selection was Perry Manning from USC. After seeing flashes of greatness during mini-camp, OTAs, and then practice it seemed that Manning had meshed with the QB coach and the Offensive Coordinator like no other. Being cautious the Coach G.G. decided early in the season to continue with Steinbacc until he felt comfortable Manning was ready. Manning's play in practice continued to overwhelm not only the coaching staff but the players and after devastating loss to the Steelers it was time to roll the dice. Coach G.G. decided to start Perry Manning, the prodigy QB, and Cinncy's championship hopes. Next game in Perry Manning first start the unthinkable happens when he suffers a ankle injury and exits the game in the first quater. Out for seven weeks, the offense continued to struggle to move the chains and had to lean on there defense and running game for the 4th straight season. Things you think would get better when your franchise QB returns from injury right? Not the case here as Manning then suffers a season ending injury in his 3rd game bacc. Cinncy found themselves deep in the water as they rallied to pull a playoff winning record of 11-5 but not enough to win the division or a wildcard berth. Troubled waters surfaces in the Cinncy organization, how will they respond?? Stay Tuned this week for an update.

Earning Your Stripes

The Cincinnati Bengals has come along way from not making the playoffs with a 9-7 in their first season under G.G. To their second season where they felt as if every thing was cliccing for them as they clinched the division title with a 12-4 record. Carl Lawson made a lot of noise from his first season with season high 18.0 saccs to becoming an MVP candidate in his second season logging not only a new career high in saccs but shattering the NFL record for most saccs in a season at 35.0. Carl Lawson in his third season is already on pace to break his own record with 21.0 saccs in only five games. Along with Carl Lawson having a big impact on the defense, Carlos Dunlap has stepped up big with 17.5 saccs in first seaon to 28.0 saccs in second season and in mentoring and being part of what fans call "Lunchbox" referring to the 11 defensive starters for the Bengals for simply paccing up their opponents and taking them to work to enjoy because at the end of the day it is all business. Bengals offense struggled in first season under G.G. though. Apparently the chemistry wasn't quite there and the young talent such as John Ross and Joe Mixon didn't really have what u called a break out season due to coaching. Well G.G. decided to shake things in the second season by drafting what he felt was the missing link in this offense which was 2nd rd picc Geoffrey Steinbacc 24yr Qb out of Utah. In first season he had flashes of greatness and then there were times were you would look at him and say "Yup, he's a rookie." But he did light a fire under the offense to help push them to become King of the AFC North while coming second in OROY and was a candidate for best QB in AFC. Chemistry with this team was at an all time high with Joe Mixon and John Ross also having break out second seasons both making Pro Bowl for first time. Joe Mixon had a season high in carries(269), rushing yards(1,435), yards per carry(5.3) and touchdowns(14). John Ross had a season high catches(66), receiving yards(1,116), and touchdowns(11). Bengals went on to win there first playoff game in 15 years over the reigning Super Bowl champs Jaguars to go on to play in AFC Championship game vs Texans to take a loss 24-22 by failed two point conversion to tie game. The Cincinnati Bengals is on mission to become Super Bowl champs so taking the bye week to prepare the long and grueling season.
