In a surprising turn of events, the Philadelphia Eagles upset the Dallas Cowboys at Jerry-World. After coming of an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Vikings, in which they accumulated a measly 30 yards rushing, the Eagles came out and attempted to establish the run early and often. They recorded more than 250% of their rushing total from their prior week, finishing with 78 yards on the ground. Another tremendous performance came via the Eagles defense, allowing the fewest rushing yards all season against a team with a good O-line and a running back bidding for ROTY honors.
The Eagles have no time to gloat. Although it is HC Baldwin’s first win as an Eagle, he has his biggest test of the year against another divisional foe, the New York Giants. The Eagles are ready for the challenge.
Another putrid performance for a putrid franchise and a putrid head coach. The Philadelphia Eagles showed exactly what they were all about during a beating they received by the Minnesota Vikings. The Eagles attempted to establish the run early and often, with absolutely no success. After being called out in the OMFL Week 3-5 recap by Jags HC "BradySenior", HC Baldwin decided it was time to hit the "RB Lab" hard and serve the Vikings with a little Ryan Matthews entree; this would not be the end result. The Vikings repeatedly gashed the offensive line with big runs up the middle by Peterson and multiple deep passes for their viewing pleasure.
This week the Eagles will look to stop the skid against the Dallas Cowboys. With the right amount of prep, I believe the Eagles can perform the upset against their divisional foe.
New Philadelphia Eagles HC Chris Baldwin, in his post game presser, said this of his Week 6 loss to the Washington Redskins "I'm not completely sure this team wants to be on the field. I don't see the same physical and mental toughness portrayed by other teams from around the league". Although it was another close battle, the 6-14 final score isn't very indicative of the whooping on the field and in the locker room the Redskins put on the Eagles. Looking at the stats, the Eagles actually ran for more yards and had just as many passing yards; however, the redskins dominated in the turnover column 2-0. The Eagles are on a lowly road right now with no rest stop in sight.
The Philadelphia Eagles third loss of the season on Wednesday night against the Detroit Lions can be chalked up to two failed 2-point conversions. Coming into the contest, the Eagles (1-2) were hitting their lowest point of the season while the Lions (3-1) were flying high on a nice recent win streak. Defensively, the Eagles were holding their own. Multiple turnovers, via interception, helped keep the game close for an offense that Eagles HC Chris Baldwin can only describe as dreadful. When asked by media in the post-game presser about the execution of the offensive unit, HC Baldwin said "I'm for it". Through it all, the Eagles defense was able to cover up the inadequacies of the offensive side of the ball. With just a minute remaining in the game the Eagles had a chance to tie the game up at 20 all, but a batted down ball intended for the TE would be the end of the night for one of the worst teams in the OMFL. The Eagles will try and turn their season around next week as they take on the Washington Redskins.
