Where can I go to edit containers? If I knew the source I could make it so the Texans and Jaguars in my League have become the Dreadnoughts and Beat, respectively. I run two DL pages and am in a third league that also could use this information. I already (using PAINT, mind you) tried to update the logos in the header bar @ http://www.daddyleagues.com/Squads but it would be really cool for it to actually say Brooklyn Beats / San Antonio Dreadnoughts in the Standings. From my understanding, there's no way to update the team profile page (http://www.daddyleagues.com/Squads/team/HOU, for example) to reflect the move.
Now, OUR first Superbowl was a doozy. Actually, the SB itself was a tale of Tristan keeping the Saints in the game for pleasure on his way to getting Todd Gurley the SB.MVP. Every major award was between Todd or Gurley for Offense and Rookies. They also took center stage in the Pro Bowl. At least there, we got to see FB Patrick Dimarco, who tied with Gurley, Bell, and McCoy for most TD's (15). The O-Line on both sides featured mainly Texans, Jaguars, and Titans.
Except we can’t call them that anymore, now can we? The Jags turned off the lights in Jacksonville for the last time. Some sadness swept the area, but it was emerging CB Trae Waynes who embodied the excitement when he went back into the dressing room and said “Maaaaaaaaaan, I can’t wait to be a Brooklyn Beat.” He kept beatboxing during other player interviews. He told reporters that if they followed the team to New York, they could be true “Beat” writers. After some eye-rolling from them, he said “Whatever, I’m getting paid.” He had come up big in both the Conference Playoffs and the Superbowl.
The Conference Championship that played out in Florida was a happy time with both contenders. A lot of respect and handshaking, knowing the next meeting would bring about new colors out of everyone, trading Jaguar green for Brooklyn’s majestic purple. Even so, Houston secretly sent out feelers for cities that would accept an NFL team, and after visiting with Portland, Chicago, Mexico City, and even Dublin, the offer they couldn’t pass up came along – why not just go downtown and be the San Antonio Dreadnaughts? Why not, indeed! Many fans were extremely upset. All season ticket holders would be put out of their way…by, like, 45 minutes. Boohoo.
Teams, seasons, and people all change. Already, the “Texans” have hired new coaches that aren’t as sucky, while continually pranking Bill O Brien, telling him he has 4 years to go until they find someone they actually like. For now, both teams are focused intently on the upcoming Free Agency and Draft. Positional changes are interesting, too. Players returning from injury, like Amari Cooper and Dri Archer, will make strong teams stronger. The weak links have been given their chance, and many teams have made many cuts. At the Texans resigning banquet, an announcement was made to eleven players that instead of being resigned, this would be the last meal the Texans would pay for. They said “Blame Bill (O’ Brien)” and now have matching banners for sale in the gift shop.
Excitement abounds as we prepare for a new season of Da Squads!

We're midway through year one and looking for a Colts player. Just three of us, same division, laid back group. www.daddyleagues.com/Squads - you got a good draft spot coming up and able to relocate (two of us are). We advance when the games get in. Started this Monday, we're in week 8 already. Check it out, ask questions, have fun.
Fantasy Draft starting this coming Sunday regardless of number of players available. We will reroll when enough people have enlisted, so this can be considered a Beta run. Already, there have been some changes in an effort to make this league more interactive and fair. Check out the League Forums for various topic details, and feel free to comment and suggest even if you won't be joining. I intend to get this idea rolling, and have a great concept up and running by the next edition of Madden.
No fumble recovery stats shown for any players. All zeroes displayed.
As stated in the first Article...I have never tried Owner Mode. I haven't been in anything like it since Madden '07, where you had a local periodical reporting your weekly news, control over your Stadium build and upgrades, down to the bratwurst prices, and I'm excited to dive in to controlling aspects of my team like never before. The reason we are mandated to Owner Mode is because one reward involves the ability to Relocate your Team if earned. There will also be awards for good Ownership, which compliments the NFL awards for excellent play.
To be on even keel here, I have some notes from doing some digging that I will expand on as more is learned. To begin, ONCE OKAYED BY FOUNDERS, a team can petition to Relocate. That is done in the Offseason. Then, around Week 5, you are asked for a Destination. You are shown a map with the possible cities you can move to (There are cities in London, Ireland, and Mexico City, in addition to a few US locations). The Cities PROVIDE you Team Name Options, so if you dreamed of creating the Puerto Rican Generales (like I was), you may have to settle for the Portland River Hogs (which I won't).The following week you will be asked a Media Question, and thereafter, will choose between a set of uniforms specific to the team you chose. You will choose the Stadium from a list of styles, and along the way you will be given clues as to which would best suit the economy of the area. A list of details to each step may follow in this forum.
Player Happiness refers to re-signing tendencies, even when lowballed. Fan Happiness refers to butts in chairs in your Stadium. Money Happiness starts you with $7 mil, but your players have lower Happiness - refer to sentence one in this paragraph. Kinda wish I knew that before I decided on that Ron Jeremy-looking guy. The Owner will only be seen in Name Only - no picture of him/her will ever be displayed.
You have a hand in your Staff, with the ability to change them during the Offseason (Stage 1). This includes Trainer, Head Coach, Scout and Trainer. Your Head Coach makes Offense, Defense, Line and Special Team Coach decisions. You are still in control of Coach Mode Tasks like subs, schemes, depth, etc...
One reason we don't run daily is because we need time to process and decide, not only Coach Decisions, but steer the financial ship as well. You have your "Treasury" which is your Owner's personal wallet, and Team Funds. The wallet pays the staff fees and player bonuses. Your income is tabulated every week of the season with merchandise sales - home games also rake in ticket and concessions. There is a shared NFL Revenue dispersed at the end of the year, by which the Salary Cap is derived. You can see public opinion of your price levels in the game Twitter while in those screens in your Owner tile.
Add your experience here in Replies. From what I see, a big piece of advise is to do any Stadium Renovations/Upgrades after Rookie Signings to make sure you have enough to move forward with your plans. If you answer Media Questions, as you are periodically asked throughout the Season, and are permitted a bonus (+25% to jersies, for example), then you have to manually raise the price of the jersies yourself, and expect fan expectations to match. Expect rough patches early on with growing pains if you are like me, and learn by messing up sometimes.
When a trade cannot go through, especially in Salary Cap Leagues, we hit "Post" or "Accept" and hope for the best. The data exists in the matrices to give us the reason our trades did not go through. If it's a matter of Roster Space or Picks, a message could pop up saying "Your roster is full at this point" or "You no longer have 'X Player' on your roster / the 3rd Round Pick for 2018.' If we are in the midst of multiple trades and accept one, a one line error dialogue box would clear up confusion. In the cases of multiple picks for the same Round in the same year, something to differentiate between them in the Front Office would help.
My biggest suggestion is involving cap. For Coaches in Salary Cap Leagues, squeezing everything we can out of our Cap Space is essential. When we go to the Trade tab, the first few bars could show us our team's current cap position (Salary || Total Bonus Out / Salary Remaining this year). This lets us finagle the numbers by releasing who we need to reach the salary to sign a player in trade or Free Agency.
By the "Accept Trade" button or "Are You Sure You Want to Sign 'X Player'" box, a similar breakdown showcasing what we should have remaining would help, too, so we know what we're dealing with in multi-transaction situations. Simple formulas using existing matrix data is what's used, so it would be a matter of formatting the graphic, the location to display, and dynamic updating mechanics behind the scenes. To make it Truly Ultimate, imagine a Floating Calculator when you hover over a trade/Free Agency pickup with two lines:
This Year's Current Salary + Bonus Out || Salary Remaining
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Salary + Bonus Out AFTER Transaction || Salary Remaining
The Bonus would be the tricky part, since releasing a player with any bonus beyond the current year would result in a salary cap penalty, and if it's substantial enough, it would reject the trade. At least then, we would know WHY the trade didn't go through versus speculating.
