AFC South Season 1 Review

Tennessee Titans

Team Performance: 11 Wins and 5 Losses

Marcus Mariota Sucks, Chris Johnson is worthless and Zach Brown and Da’Norris Searcy saved this team!

Team MVP – Zach Brown

ZACH BROWN!!! ZB!!! TAR HEEL!!!

Unsung Hero – Da’Norris Searcy

TAR HEEL!!

Offseason Outlook:

Stop sucking and draft more Tar Heels!

Jacksonville Jaguars

Team Performance: 9 Wins and 7 Losses

On the stat sheet Jacksonville put together a strong season, and have the building blocks to make this team into a strong contender in the AFC. Dropping the second game in the series to the Titans this year really hurt their chances of the playoffs, they went 4-2 down the stretch but a crushing loss to the Saints in week 16 sealed the deal on the this young team. But with great years from Bortles and Yeldon they have a bright future ahead of them.

Team MVP – Blake Bortles

Big Blake had a great year in his new offense and with his new coach. He threw for 3800 yards and 34 scores to go against 12 interceptions. Blake threw the second fewest interceptions with QB’s with 30 or more touchdowns losing out to Osweiler by one. If Bortles can continue this type of development to go with his young core of wideouts and his rookie running back in Yeldon, this team could be scary good in the future.

Unsung Hero – TJ Yeldon

Yeldon was an afterthought in terms of Rookie Running Backs from his class behind Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley, well teams in the AFC have learned who he is quickly. Rushing for over 1320 yards which was good for sixth in the league and first in the AFC, Yeldon registered more than 85 yards in 8 of his 16 games including a three game stretch of over 100 yards. 30 catches for almost 200 yards put this rookie at a 1500 yard backer in his rookie season with 7 scores. He is going to be a force to be dealt with as the Jags look to improve what was a bad offensive line this year.

Offseason Outlook:

Jacksonville has one of the worst offensive lines in the game and with the performance of Bortles and Yeldon going in such a positive direction, they should look to fix this area of weakness as soon as possible. If Joeckel moves to a guard position which he is better suited for they will have a good interior with Wis and Linder but need to find some tackles either in free agency or the draft to take this team to the next level. They also have 11 defensive ends and tackles that they will need to sort thru and figure who will stay and go on the defensive side of the ball.

Indianapolis Colts

Team Performance: 4 Wins and 12 Losses

This poor franchise has been faced with issues for years. The former owner/coach of the team ran this team into the ground and then claimed to get enough people together to sign a petition to restart the entire league and erase all the moves that had been made. While several owners have come out and denied their involvement in this petition it does appear that this was just a power play by the old management to leave this team and head for greener pasture. The current ownership was left with an old roster that was filled with old veterans and undeveloped youth which was reflected in their season’s performance. They should attempt to do the same thing as the last owner and try and get everything reversed and prove they are a better owner than he was and make some good moves to turn the team around.

Team MVP – Donte Moncrief

Dispite having some horrible play from his Quarterback in Andrew Luck, Donte put together a strong season that had him grab 57 balls for almost 1000 yards and 7 scores. With his performance to go next to Hilton, Dorsett and Fleener this team as all the offensive weapons to put up some points if they can get anything of running game going and something more than five sled dummies that they currently have for an offensive line

Unsung Hero – Trent Richardson

So the Colts traded for him a few years ago because they felt he was the answer, he proved he was a bust so they sent him packing for free. Well after they decided to send him away, they realized that as bad as he was, they had nothing better. Trent Richardson was signed back this year and ran for 782 yards on 219 carries for one of the worst averages as a running back, so how is he a hero you say? Well do you know anybody else who’s been fired from their job because they were terrible, proved they were terrible elsewhere and then got their old job back at the place they had been fired from the first time? This just goes to show, anyone reading this article could be a running back for the Colts next season.

Offseason Outlook:

Other than attempting to rally a mob and restart teams again, the Colts face an uphill battle in terms of fixing this roster. Starting off they should attempt to fix the offensive line, Castonzo and Mewhort are two solid pieces they should build around and move Harrison to a guard position will at least start the process of putting some blocking together upfront. After that has been fixed they need to address the defense, other than Davis the defense has no playmakers including zero pash rush. They may be able to score 30 points a game but will continue to give up 30+ if they can find some play makers on defense.

Houston Texans

Team Performance: 2 Wins and 14 Losses

Houston ownership may take the award for the most boneheaded move of the season. Coming off the new league they decided to hire some hot-shot young coach from the Falcons who was able to pick on a weak division en-route to an over inflated record. This coach showed that he didn’t have the proper education from an elite university to help build this team and push them to the next level. Hell, the coach even left his troops during the middle of the year to study for a test. This is the same university that paid one of their players to play rather than attend classes.

Team MVP: New England Patriots

Really this is the only thing to talk about when it comes to the Houston Texans other than them wasting the prime years of Superstar Wideout Hakeem Nicks. Houston won their 3rd game of the year against Tampa Bay then rattled off 9 straight losses until the 13-0 Patriots came to town. New England I’m sure was looking past this squad as they were held to 14 points or less 7 times in the first 13 games, they really showed no heart of effort. As we found out after the game Tom Brady was also suffering from a chronic issue of Jock Itch that he got from a prank by Rob Gronkowski, the man just struggled to focus all game and couldn’t move the ball and turned it over 3 times giving the Texans a short field and a 21-3 victory. So this victory appears to have saved the kids future with the team, again we have no idea how…but he can thank Rob Gronkowski for switching jocks with Tom Brady for a week.

Unsung Hero: Kevin Johnson

The young DB out of wake forest and the far superior football conference in the ACC, showed his coach that the SEC and their “Great Defenders” are a bunch of jokes beating out both Johnathan Joseph from South Carolina and Kareem Jackson from Alabama as the number one defender in the secondary. Johnson ended the year with eight interceptions to lead the team and forced a fumble as well. Kareem Jackson who went to the far superior school in the state of Alabama ended the year with a single interception and was seen getting laughed off the field by the youngster from the ACC.

Offseason Outlook:

First, the coach just needs to drop out of school and get his priorities straight. Second, this team really needs to focus on finding some offensive weapons, they IRed Arian Foster to start the season after an injury had knocked him out for 14 weeks, this move showed the entire team that either A) The coach couldn’t do move (which is possible with his university of choice) or B) the team was going to god awfully bad. Well I’d like to think it was a little bit of both? They claim to have found the QB of the future in AJ McCarron who they have now put on the block as well after seeing how bad all the SEC players are on their roster. The reason they failed? All 3 starting QB’s this year who attempted a pass played in the SEC. They need to gut this team completely and stick with the ACC players who made them successful in Hopkins, Nicks and Johnson.

Well, I’ve been informed that I should actually talk about the Titans, so if you’ve read this far…I’ll cover them now. They really should be at the bottom of this write up anyways, but thanks to an owner who destroyed the colts and then bailed and to a kid who decided to go to an SEC school, he’s getting easy victories across the board. However being the true professional that I am, I’ll write it up regardless.

Tennessee Titans

Team Performance: 11 Wins and 5 Losses

The Titans were able to win the games that counted this year as they swept all their divisional games with and took care of business at home finishing with a record of 7-1. They started off the season a disaster losing ugly to the Bucs and Browns but then they found their feet again bouncing back to three straight victories. Inside sources says that this coaching staff gets a lot of feedback and assistance from the Eagles coaching staff and that was the driving force behind the success of the Titans this year. The Titans are a young squad with some weapons that will need to be developed as this team could take a stranglehold on the division for years.

Team MVP – Zach Brown

Zach Brown was cut by the very same coaching staff that is in place now and landed with the Coach of the Eagles before a restart was enforced sending poor Mr. Brown back to the Titans. Zach has been coached up since his time with his former staff and tried to play his way into a new contract with Philadelphia this year as he led the team in tackles with 60 and in interceptions with 8. Brown also added 3 sacks and two forced fumbles proving that he is an all-around play maker on defense and in the right hands would be a total monster!

Unsung Hero – Craig Stevens

Rumor has it that former NFL Coach Chip Kelly can have issues with…well…some players. Well Mariota was his boy and he appears to have fallen in line with his former coach. With great athletes like Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright on the team, it was old man Craig Stevens who stole the show. Stevens finished 3rd on the team in catches with 38 for 628 yards and 5 touchdowns. Mariota appears to not enjoy throwing the ball to some players as he ran the ball himself 89 times rather than throwing it to open receivers. They will need to either completely change their wide receiver corp and see if they can pry Riley Cooper away from Denver or see if they can fix the damage done to Marioita as Stevens is over 30 and can’t be the anchor that he was this year.

Offseason Outlook:

They have the people in place to be effective for the future. They did make a horrible choice and elected to trade for Chris “.5K” Johnson who gave them no offensive firepower this year and will need to dig themselves out of that hole in order to move forward. Cutting ties with him or sending him so far down the bench that even the punter gets a laugh it, will need to be done for this team to move forward. Weapons like Wright and DGB give this team some pop and Mario knows how to use his legs well enough to keep the chains moving. Brown and Searcy make the single best 1-2 combo of Safety and Linebacker in the league and they need to build off that combination to move forward. Drafting more players from their school with the elite level education they have and the high level skill sets that they bring and this team will be a force to be dealt with if they can continue to get insider help from Philadelphia.

AFC North Season 1 Review

Pittsburgh Steelers

Team Performance: 10 Wins and 6 Losses

Pittsburgh had a rough start to the season going 4 and 6 to open the season and playoff hopes vanishing with the loss of Big Ben. Thankfully the Steelers schedule for divisional games was backloaded and once Landry Jones found a rhythm the Steelers were able to rattle off six straight wins to close the season including a head to head show down with Cleveland for the final playoff spot. One of the hottest teams coming into the playoffs but without Big Ben they got a big hill to climb.

Team MVP – Sammie Coates

Offenses know that AB is the best WR in the league and you’ll be very hard to stop him an entire game. Sammie Coats made his job a little easier this year by exploding onto the scene out of Auburn. Coates didn’t see the same volume of production as Brown but he made his catches count and freed up space offensively. Coates came down with 49 grabs for 1000 yards and 10 scores, not bad for a rookie from an awful school.

Unsung Hero – Steve McLendon

Defensive tackles in a 3-4 scheme never get any good press or have the chance to put great stats to earn themselves some honors, so this one goes out to a nose tackle who’s earned something. McLendon came away with six sacks on the year including 4 during the final stretch to get them into the playoffs. Great job to the big guy for being tied at the top of his team in sacks.

Offseason Outlook:

They have may have one of the best looking offseason’s coming up out of all the teams in the AFC, with no major players to resign and a fair amount of cap space they can began to add some secondary depth and with Big Ben having another injury and a year older, they may want to considering adding a QB for depth or do they trust Landry Jones enough to keep the #2 job.

Cleveland Browns

Team Performance: 9 Wins and 7 Losses

The Browns had a season to remember, they started the season off 4 and 1, then they faced four straight crushing defeats by 10+ points to fall below .500. They rallied late and put themselves in position to win the division and by winning either of their last two games. Unfortunately for the Brownies it was against the Chiefs and the red hot Steelers. Johhny Football had a great year by with seven, yes seven interceptions in the final game it ended up burying the Brownies for the season.

Team MVP – Isaiah Crowell

Who saw this type of season coming? The man ran for 1200 yards and 16 scores on the season. Crowell added a catch in every single game as well to add 300 yards and 4 TD’s to his stats for the year. For a guy who is not a burner and a trucking back it was great year behind a good offensive line and at his age will only continue to get better.

Unsung Hero – Johnny Manziel

You could make the case for Crowell to be here as well, but Johnny had a great year on his own 18 of his 36 interceptions came in three games. So there are times when he forces it too much and got his team into trouble. But 4500 yards in the air and 200 yards on the ground is nothing to frown at. As he continues to get better he should be able to cut down on his turnovers and really help keep that offense moving forward.

Offseason Outlook:

Crowell picked a perfect time ot have a monster year as he is on the short list of free agents for the Brownies who come into the year with a solid amount of space. Gipson, Mingo and Williams however are three big defensive pieces they will probably attempt to lock up before they began to look outside their building for new players.

Baltimore Ravens

Team Performance: 7 Wins and 9 Losses

Up and down year for the Baltimore Ravens this year who could never really together a streak of victories that they could have used to push themselves into the playoffs. The team is filled with talent for the future but will have some gaping holes on offense to fill. But the good news is that their division one of two in the AFC wide open for the taking and they are knocking on the door step. With new leadership in town the Ravens look to turn the page on last year.

Team MVP – Breshad Perriman

The man is a monster, he’s got the speed to get open on any route and at any time. Flacco was able to find him 63 times for 1130 yards and 7 TDs which is a great year for a rookie WR by any means. Perrimans speed matched with Flacco’s arm is sure to continue to cause DB’s in the AFC nightmares when they are forced to face the purple and black.

Unsung Hero – Terrance Brooks

Filling the shoes of a legend like Ed Reed is always something difficult to due and Baltimore hadn’t found that answer until this year it appears. Beating two veterans out for the position the speeders safety took the job at the start of the year and began to become tackling machine for the secondary. Brooks ended the year with 76 tackles in 14 games and could have challenged Mosley for the team lead if he had been able to play in the final two games. Brooks wasn’t much of a ball hawk this year but being a rookie and with his speed he will get chances in the future.

Offseason Outlook:

Age is catching this team offensively, Forsett is another year older, Steve Smith is facing retirement and they are already low on weapons. Addressing the offense will be a must this offseason and it starts with Osemele who is slated to be a free agent. They can’t completely forget about the defense however as the secondary is older and Hill, Williams and Stanford are all set to be free agents on this years market.

Cincinnati Bengals

Team Performance: 6 Wins and 10 Losses

A lot of talk came from the Bengals coaching staff this year, we heard rumors that Jeremy Hill for MVP T-Shirts had been printed to start the season, then we heard it was going to be Geno Smith as they future of Cincy. Needless to say none of that came true, Jeremy Hill failed to see 100 carries and Andy Dalton attempted the second most passes during the season. We’ve been told to expect the Bengals to be deadly next year but after putting up 57 points against the rams in week 13 (However they gave up 71, and yes this was a football game not a basketball game) the offense scored 13,12 & 11 points over the next three weeks. They are a fun team to observe that’s for sure but will need to bite more next year than bark.

Team MVP: Andy Dalton

The Red Rifle had himself a good season, he threw for over 4700 yards on the season and added 39 TDS to his 22 interceptions. If you remove his worst game of the year against Pittsburgh he finished with 4500 yards, 38TDs and 17 Interceptions which is the type of year they will need to make the jump into the next level of the division. Dalton will also need to spend the offseason working out as he ran the ball 51 times and which was more than he ran in his entire 4 year starting career at TCU.

Unsung Hero: Marvin Jones

Most of us remember Marvin Jones from being fantasy relevant two years ago to completely vanishing the following year due to injury. Well he bursted back onto the scene this year leading the team with 1216 yards in the air to go with 65 catches and six TD’s. Jones, Sanu, Green and Eifert led a very balanced passing attack in Cincy and finding another weapon to go with Green has been a missing pieces for the Bengals for years.

Offseason Outlook:

Remember how I said you don’t want to face what the Broncos are having to deal with? Well the Bengals are not much better but thankfully they will have money to spend this offseason. The only true starters that remain signed after this year is Andy Dalton and AJ Green. Whitworth, Zeitler, Smith are all free agents on the offensive line. Gio, Jones, Sanu and Eifert are all free agents from the skill positions. The Bengals will need to stock up on pens because they will need to sign a bunch of guys back this year to remain a contender. Oh, I also forgot to mention that the entire starting secondary will also be facing the free agent market, Leon Hall, Adam Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, Reggie Nelson and George Iloka all will need to be signed in the offseason. It’s going to be a busy busy busy offseason so hopefully the coach who considers himself Omnipotent is ready to have a very chaotic offseason.

AFC West Season 1 Review

Kansas City Chiefs

Team Performance – 16 Wins and 0 Losses

There’s nothing really to say about Kiz and the Chiefs, he did it again folks. He finished the year undefeated yet again. While owners across MSFL exhaled when he was forced into retirement last year, he’s seen no drop in his play and took a team with limited offensive talent and took them into the top 4 in offense. If they EVER lose a game it will be a shocker.

Team MVP – Alex Smith

I guess I’m forced to say Alex Smith since he is expected to win the league MVP trophy right? Throwing for over 5400 yards and 55 TDs is an impressive feat. Rumor has it he’s going to be on the bench next year…who does that to an MVP? Oh a guy who is roughly 40-0 in recent history.

Unsung Hero – Albert Wilson

A little guy out of Georgia State threw up some monster numbers this year. 61 Catches for 1313 yards and 13 scores. With his development to go with Maclin and Kelce, whomever QB’s this team next year will have weapons on hand.

Offseason Outlook:

Really nothing for the Chiefs to worry about, he’s loaded up on draft picks again and Hali is the only impact player he may lose. As long as he doesn’t retire again or have the worst draft in history he will be having a bye week come playoff time next year.

Oakland Raiders

Team Performance – 10 Wins and 6 Losses

After starting off the year 1 and 3, this team rallied to finish with 9 wins and the only losses coming close to KC and Tennesse all by a single score. This team is young and carries a good defense that slowed down the Chiefs in both meetings they had this year. Making the playoffs is step one and it’s always said that Defense wins Championships, they could be a darkhorse going into this year.

Team MVP – Marcell Reese

From the fullback position this man was able to covert 59 carries into 11 touchdowns. Even when teams knew he was getting the ball he couldn’t be stopped. Now either Marcell Reese is a monster of the FB play in this season is very strong, you decide.

Unsung Hero – Seth Roberts

Who is Seth Roberts you ask? Don’t worry, we are asking ourselves the same thing. After starting the year 5th on the teams depth chart behind names like Cooper, Crabtree, Streater and Holmes…it was Seth Robert who broke out and we are still unsure of how. The 6’2 WR has averaged 26.9 yards per catch this year and on just 36 balls racked up 970 yards. He doesn’t have a ton of speed but when he makes a play, it goes for a big chunk.

Offseason Outlook:

Crabtree, Smith and Spikes highlight the big names on the Raiders free agent list, but with one of the largest cap spaces free they will be able to get whomever they want this offseason to fill in holes or needs.

San Diego Chargers

Team Performance: 6 Wins and 10 Losses

Losing Phillip Rivers really hurt this team’s performance this year he had a decent year with 22 TDs to just 13 INTs but Clemens couldn’t carry the weight and Gordon had less than stellar year at Running back. Bottom third in offense and defense they will need to put a plan together to get this team turned around to complete with Oakland for the second spot in the division.

Team MVP – Stevie Johnson

Stevie flashed back four years with SD and hauled in 61 catches for 1080 yards and 8 scores on the year including a monster 13 grab 276 yard game to start off the year. If they can get another year or two out of him to go with Allen they may have something on offense.

Unsung Hero – Stevie Johnson

Normally it’s the Green/Gates show and Kennan Allen picks up the rest, this year Johnson took over in the slot and made Green a non-factor with just 4 catches on the year. They will need him to keep that production as Gates will be gone shortly and Green will need to fill those shoes.

Offseason Outlook:

Keenan Allen, DJ Fluker and Green are three big offensive weapons that will need to be addressed this offseason if the Chargers are going to contend. They have a ton of cap space as well that they can use this offseason to address some needs and strength the defense.

Denver Broncos

Team Performance: 6 Wins and 10 Losses

Denver started off the year strong with 6 wins and 2 losses. But after a tough defeat against the KC Chiefs things then fell apart in Denver and could never get back on track. Dropping the final 8 games of the year as put Denver in the back of the pack and facing a major hole at the QB Position going into the offseason.

Team MVP – Demaryius Thomas & Emmanuel Sanders

Awarding a CO-MVP to this squad as they continue to go hand in hand as one of the best DUO’s in the league. 134 grabs for 1900+ yards between the two of them and 12 TD’s. If they can get some production from the slot next year and find a QB they won’t miss a beat.

Unsung Hero – Riley Cooper

Cooper came over to Denver after the trade for Brock Osweiler and found himself getting hurt in his first game after putting up some strong numbers. Upon his return he went for 6 grabs and 122 yards and a score. Cooper showed the ability to help out in the slot with his height and ability to hang onto the ball.

Offseason Outlook:

You do not want to be dealing with the Broncos offseason, here is a list of players who are facing retirement or free agency. Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware, Brandon Marshall, Shaq Barrett, Darian Stewart, Emmanuel Sanders, Vernon Davis and some guy named Von Miller. 8 Key starters for the Bronco’s starting 22 will be free agents or retired at the end of the season. Good Luck!

AFC East Season 1 Review

New England Patriots:

Team Performance – 15 Wins – 1 Loss

Another great year for Coach Walsh and nothing less was expected, carried a perfect record until a sneaky Texans Coach decided to return to the field and shut down the Patriots attack in a 21-3 defeat. The Titans then suffered the Patriots wraith the following week with a 34-7 drubbing lead by the defense picking off Mariota 7 times in a single game. Expected to meet the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, it will be another epic showdown between two top MSFL coaches.

Team MVP – Jamie Collins

A lot of names to choose from on a 15-1 team, names like Brady, Edelman and Gronk come to mind but this year’s award is going to Jamie Collins for everything he did on the defensive side of the ball. Jamie Collins shattered a 60 year old record by recording 19 interceptions on the season which was seven interceptions ahead of second place. He was a force to be reckoned with over the middle and by himself made teams give up 1/3 of the field or pay the price.

Unsung Hero – Chris Cook

A veteran CB signed off the streets to help provide bodies for a weak secondary turned out to be one of the best slot corners you could have asked for. Finishing 3rd on the team in tackles and 2nd on the team in interceptions he was a force to be measured next to Collins. With Cooks and Collins controlling the middle of the field and the slot, teams were forced to throw against the two best corners of New England and with ending the year with the second best pass defense, you can tell how that went.

Offseason Outlook:

Three big names will fill the headlines for the Patriots, Jerrod Mayo who is aging but has great talent and Percy Harvin who just came off a monster year will want to get one more final payday. Oh, I did mention three names, there is that guy named Tom Brady who could face the choice to hang them up at the end of the year. Jimmy G’s development and the fact that Patriots have some cap room to fill in the secondary means we probably won’t see the Patriots fall apart this offseason.

Miami Dolphins:

Team Performance – 11 Wins and 5 Losses

Miami found themselves in trouble early in the season as Ryan Tannehill was suspended two games for his off the field activities and after getting shut down in week 10 against the eagles they fell to 5-4 and faced a climb back to the top. They then rattled off six straight wins thanks to a soft schedule down the stretch and found themselves in the playoffs. They have talent and speed but all five losses have come against playoff teams and they didn’t beat a playoff team during the year, the post season will be a show me time for Miami.

Team MVP – Zaviar Gooden

This man was all over the field this year as he finished 5th in the league in tackles, added 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 5 interceptions to his credit he was able to carry a bad LB core into a solid defense this year that helped the Dolphins into the playoffs.

Unsung Hero – Zaviar Gooden

Signed as a low level free agent the only thing he brought to the field was speed, however he was given the reigns to run the defense and turned in a great performance. Another AFC team finding a gem in the FA pool to boost them into the playoffs.

Offseason Outlook:

Miami is faced with the tightest cap situation in their division, they have big names like Vernon, Miller and Gooden all set to hit free agency if they are not resigned and Cameron Wake and Brent Grimes are aging quickly. With a very weak secondary and not a lot of cash it will be interesting to see what Miami can put together on a budget and in the draft.

Buffalo Bills:

Team Performance – 7 Wins and 9 Losses

A rough year if you were a bills fan, they faced playoff teams 8 times this year between Miami, New England, Philly, KC and Tenneesee. Every single one of those games ended up as a L for the Bills which really hurt their ability to make a run. With a softer schedule and winning just a few of those games the Bills will have a chance to contend as the talent is there.

Team MVP – Stephon Gilmore

A young DB continues to prove that he is a number one corner in this league as he finished 4th in the team in tackles, forced a fumble and came away with 7 interceptions. With Darby up and coming along side of him if they can find some safety help Gilmore will be able to take away the biggest threat to their defense each week and allow the Bills to go on the attack

Unsung Hero – Preston Brown

This is your grandfathers type of LB, he doesn’t have the speed to match some of today’s LB’ers but we can do is read a play with the best of them, run over or shed a blocker and then knock the snot out of the ball carrier. Brown led the team in tackles with 75 and even showed some coverage skills coming down with five interceptions on the year. You don’t wanna have this guy lined up on you or it’s gonna hurt.

Offseason Outlook:

Bills carry some decent cap space and but have some big pieces they pay this offseason in Nigel Bradham, Stephon Gilmore and Robert Woods. With an aging offensive line they will also need to address one of the most sought after positions in free agency.

New York Jets:

Team Performance – 3 Wins and 13 Losses

A rough year for the Greenies as they could never really get anything going on the year. The struggles started at the QB position as both Smith and Petty washed out leaving the Jets without a future QB still. With 43 turnovers coming from the QB position it was impossible for the Jets to stay in games but the offense did perform better late in the year and gives them something to build one.

Team MVP – Jace Amaro

Amaro was the bright spot on offense for the Jets as he pulled in 58 catches for 1023 yards. He’s got the hands and the speed to be an effective weapon from his position and with continued development will be the focal point of the offense with aging weapons around him

Unsung Hero – Devin Smith

30 catches for 571 yards may not sound like a great performance but getting solid product out of a 5th round rookie who didn’t touch a ball until week six came as a surprise. He posted games of 80,99,101 down the stretch and is proving that he can be a replacement to Decker to help give the offense some firepower

Offseason Outlook –

The Jets are in trouble, with big names like Harrison, Couples, Richardson all set to be free agents and aging stars like Mangold, Marshall, Ferguson, Cromartie and limited cap space the Jets are going to need some magic tricks to turn over this roster quickly. Richardson just came off 10 sacks and Harrison is one of the best DTs, can they really afford to lose both of those guys?
