Top 10 Power Rankings

1.

OWNER: Q

TEAM: Chiefs

It was very difficult not to put the league champion in the number one spot in these rankings. However, in season two the Chiefs are as dangerous as ever with Q at the controls while LB (still elite) is figuring some things out. The Chiefs currently have the #2 ranked scoring offense in the entire league which is anchored by that lethal passing attack which by no surprise is tops in the league. While his defense is prone to allowing some garbage time yardage and points skewing the numbers, this defense leads the SFL in takeaways. Q and the Chiefs are currently the top dog.

2.

OWNER: LB

TEAM: Ravens

While I am a believer in “you’re at the top until someone knocks you off the top,” I had to drop LB to the number two spot in these rankings. LB is an elite owner who understands the NUANCES of the game. His team is not lighting the league on fire offensively, as we all know that is not his style of play. He is a grinder who loves ball control and time of possession. It is a method that works due to his top-notch defense which ranks in the top 5 of total yards, pass yards, rush yards, and points allowed. LB will be looking to repeat as champion.

3.

OWNER: Malek

TEAM: Giants

Malek has only one loss on the season just like the number one team on this list. They both lost to the cheese formally known as Drip. Good riddance. There was talk about needing a ring to be considered “elite” in this league. To me, Malek is an elite owner, and a ring would only validate that status and not create it. He will always be an owner in contention and someone everyone needs to pay attention to. Malek possesses the rare combination of being good on both sides of the ball. He is a top 10 team in all major categories for both offense and defense.

4.

OWNER: Ed

TEAM: Browns

I am not sure Ed quite gets the regard he is due. In my opinion he is a top owner in this league and his history as a multiple time champion and success this cycle proves that point. Ed has quietly been rolling along this season. He has not lost and currently holds the #6 scoring offense and #4 scoring defense in the SFL. That complete style of play is obviously a recipe for success. I expect Ed to make a serious run at the AFC Crown this season.

5.

OWNER: Chan

TEAM: Titans

Like Ed, Chan is another owner who many feel is overrated. All he keeps doing is winning games and posting prime gifs in the chat. If he fails to capture a league crown, he at least holds the belt for gif champion. Chan’s defense is putting up absurd numbers as he is damn near tops in every major category. Chan will make a run. #Stretch

6.

OWNER: Bryce

TEAM: 49ers

Bryce might have a 4-3 record, but this is a team that held the best record in the league last season, and he is a very good owner. Bryce is a playoff staple and I expect him to be there yet again this season. Bryce has a top 10 offense and while his defense has underperformed this season, I expect him to patch some things up and make a run.

7.

OWNER: AC

TEAM: Broncos

This selection is going to cause a riot. AC might be the most underrated owner in league history. I at least believe this with the current group of league owners. AC is a multiple time champion, consistent headache for opposing offenses, and is never an easy out. AC was a playoff team last season in a tough AFC with Cam Newton at QB. He is now 4-3 with losses to tough teams once again utilizing Cam Newton and a rookie QB with a rating in the low 60’s. Give this man his regard. The end.

8.

OWNER: Matt

TEAM: Buccaneers

On a recent podcast, many pegged Matt as “overrated.” Some might think this is a bias move with me ranking him #8 while teams with better records are nowhere to be seen. Why make a rankings article if it was strictly on team record? The list would be a copy and paste article then. Matt currently has the Buccaneers as the number 2 offense in terms of total yards and he is top 10 in both pass and rush yards. We can make the argument he has more Superstars than a Superstar cluster in the Milky Way Galaxy. Well, he has more, and the Madden gods keep giving him more. He is still a very good owner and ranks here at #8.

9.

OWNER: Gharl (William)

TEAM: Jets

Gharl was a difficult owner to place as I was not sure to place him in the top 10. However, he is winning games and proves last season was a tank job. That is ok, as it is a strategy many have used and even the absolute best has used. Gharl has produced an elite defense anchored by his front 7. He currently has the #5 defense in total yards allowed and he is #2 in rush yards allowed. He also has the #4 ranked passing offense. Gharl seems to be one of the many beneficiaries of the nerfed INT slider. We play the game to what rules and sliders are in place though. Gharl sits here at #9 and I would be disappointed if he does not win the East

10.

OWNER: Byrd

TEAM: Dolphins

In my original rankings I let this team slip past me. That should not have happened. Byrd is a top owner currently having a down season. He is also a multiple time champion and an owner always in contention. I feel Byrd being at #10 is also a temporary thing. I expect him to start stringing some quality wins together and climb these rankings by season's end. I expect to see Byrd in the playoffs.

BREAKING NEWS: Hopkins on the move

In an unprecedented move the Arizona Cardinals have shipped fan favorite and one of the league's premier wideouts in DeAndre Hopkins to the New England Patriots. Yesterday afternoon there were rumors around the league that the Cardinals were shopping the superstar receiver. One reporter tweeted that multiple teams inquired about Hopkins true availabilty and what it would cost. "His value is his value" is what the Cardinals GM would stand by. The New England Patriots made a strong offer with mutiple offensive lineman knowing that was a glaring weakness for the Cardinals football team.

Coach Conklin was asked during his presser, "Does your offense take a step back without Hopkins?" "DeAndre Hopkins is an elite talent and a future hall of famer. Look at what he did for this football team last year. Over 1100 yards and 10 TDs while drawing the opposing teams best corner. This offense has a lot of weapons and there is only one football. I believe DeAndre will be more featured in New England and this was an opportunity for us as a team to become more complete while allowing DeAndre to be THE GUY in New England."

There were rumblings that DeAndre's value is tied to his usage in Arizona. "I believe any player can have "lesser" stats due to the scheme that is being run but doesn't take away from what they are capable of." Another quote from Coach's press conference. What DeAndre was able to do in Arizona was still nothing short of exceptional and now he becomes a target hog in New England filling the role that N'Keal Harry filled last year. Lets take a look at what Harry was able to accomplish last season: 118 receptions, 2109 yards, and 17 TDS. Hopkins is far superior than that of Harry and no disrespect to Harry, but what Hopkins might achieve in New England could be nothing short of record breaking.

The complete trade details are listed below:

Arizona Cardinals receive:

Isaiah Wynn

Shaq Mason

N'Keal Harry

2023 1st round pick

2023 2nd round pick

2023 4th round pick

New England Patriots receive:

DeAndre Hopkins

2023 3rd round pick

Arizona Cardinals: Draft Recap

The draft has come and gone and the Arizona Cardinals aren't quite sure what to make of their draft haul. The Cardinals possessed 6 picks in this year's draft with picks in each round besides round 4. The rumor mill was in over-drive as there were numerous reports that the Cardinals were trying to trade up into the top 10 of this draft as they contacted numerous teams about availabilty of those picks. Obviously no move was made and the Cardinals stayed put. Let's see the class....

Round 1/ Pick 20- Carlos Spencer - NC State

This guy was at the top of the Cardinals draft board and they were shocked to see he was still available at pick 20. Maybe it is his age as he is already 23? Whatever the case may be, his career won't last past the age of 27 so there is no fear of regression. The guy is an elite athlete with great coverage skills. His biggest knock has to be the frying pans he has at the end of his arms after dropping roughly 4 picks in his preseason debut. No matter the case, he is locked in as a starting corner.

Round 2/ Pick 42- Reggie Patterson- Clemson

The guy Coach Cash was targeting here in round 2 went a few picks before the team's selection and he was left with a dilemma....draft the Heisman Trophy Winner and double dip at the DB position, or go for more depth at the wideout position. Coach took the Heisman winner to hopefully use his versatility. "He is gonna line up outside, inside, safety, all over the secondary for this football team". Patterson is not a special athlete by most standards and he didn't check many boxes during the pre-draft process. However, the guy won the Heisman trophy and that should play.

Round 3/ Pick 74- Gil Woodley- Wisconsin

Branson was the target.....Branson was taken.....Team read many reports Woodley trained harder than anyone for the combine and he performed very well.....Team saw a potential diamond in the rough.....Team drafted Woodley.....Team regrets drafting Woodley

Round 5/ Pick 138- Joshua Barclay- Boise State

Coach Cash has always had a tendency to try and convert over-sized, slower wide receivers into tight ends. This was the process behind this pick. Barclay is a height/weight/speed combo type of receiver and he is gonna try his hand at tight end at the next level. Coach wants speed every where on this offense. Barclay is expected to open the season as TE1.

Round 6/ Pick 170- Wayne Bowden- Washington

Coach was torn here between Bowden and Peter Baker out of Cal-Berkley.....Team took Bowden.....Baker went 6 picks later to the New York Jets.....Team once again regrets another pick.....Bowden will serve as a depth piece.

Round 7/Pick 202- Antonio Springs- Army

Coach Cash might have had a little bias targeting Springs due to the school he was playing football at. With that said, Springs is a superb athlete who is gonna see significant playing time this season on special teams and in some base sets next to Isaiah Simmons.

Like any draft, only time will tell if this class was a bust or a boom.

Season Recap: Arizona Cardinals

Season Recap: Arizona Cardinals

OVERVIEW:

The Arizona Cardinals got out to a rough start to their season going 3-6 in the season's first half.  Many probably wrote this team off, hell......the coach himself was about to mail it in and worry about draft positioning. Instead though, Coach Cash realized that hitting the power button and only taking the field every 3rd day or so was not gonna result in success in the SFL. So, he got back to the drawing board and started to do what he does best, and that is generate offense. Coach knew that because his defense is broken and can't generate stops, he was gonna have to score and score a lot. Coach ended the season with 8 straight wins to finish 11-6 and get into the playoffs as the #6 seed. They would fall to the Green Bay Packers 53-47 during a snow storm in the wild card round.

DEFENSE:

This defense generated 36 total QB tackles with 18 of those by way of a sim. So, this team had 18 QB tackles in 12 games played. That is a disgusting number. The "All Pro" Chandler Jones got a whopping ONE QB tackle in the 12 games that Coach got to play. Coach just doesn't understand seeing teams generate pressure at the rate they do while his team seems to be sleeping at the snap. The Arizona Cardinals also lost their best defensive player in Budda Baker during a week 16 sim due to lack of communication from the opponent. He was greatly missed during the snow storm. At the end of the day, this defense is slow on the outside and generally just not very good.

OFFENSE:

The offense in general was not terrible to start the season minus whatever that was when Arizona played the Houston Texans. However, it was not good either. Coach would eventually get it together. The last 5 games he was able to coach.....his offense averaged 601 yards of offense, 56 PPG, and average margin of victory was by 28 points. During that same span, Kyler Murray had a 21:1 touchdown to interception ratio. With that said, like most Coaches will tell you, "Team still wasn't good enough. That is why we were watching from our couch" *Malek voice. The Cardinals' offense is excited to see what a full 17 game slate might look like.

OFF-SEASON:

Due to the team's prior GM, the Cardinals actually enter the off-season unable to trade any tradeable player. JJ Watt carries a 1 year, $15.9 million price tag left on his deal with $15.4 million being in bonus money. The Cardinals will now move their focus to FA where they carry a nice surplus of funds and the NFL draft. This team carries many needs, so they will not be focusing on any specific position group.

2022 SEASON:

The Cardinals are again, excited to see what a full 17 game slate might look like. Coach Cash believes the NFC West just might be the best division in the NFC. I am sure some over there in the South and a couple over there in the East beg to differ. Season 2 should be fun as the Cardinals plan to compete with who Coach believes is one of the top owners in the league in Bryce and the San Francisco 49ers. His season one success speaks for itself. Coach expects their next two battles to be must watch TV. One last shout out to the Tennessee Titans......."It is ok if it is not your time." Keep your chin up buddy

Top 10 Power Rankings

Going into week 10 of season 3, the SFL heiracrchy is starting to take place. The following teams have made my top 10 in the Power Rankings:

1. Baltimore Ravens (8-0) - Before week 9, the Green Bay Packers were going to take this spot. With the Packers losing, Jbyrd and his Baltimore Ravens take the top spot and rightfully so. They are the reigning SFL champ, and the only unbeaten team left in the league. On the offensive side of the ball, The Ravens boast the 11th ranked offense in terms of yardage, 2nd ranked rushing offense, 5th highest in PPG, and 4th in rushing TDs. Defensively, they rank in the top 10 in lowest rush yards allowed, points allowed, and interceptions. They are also the 6th best team on 3rd down and they are 9th in the league in turnover differential. This shows they are a well-rounded team that will most certainly be in the mix for another league title.

Strong Wins- Steelers, Buccaneers, Browns, Chargers

Key Players: Lamar Jackson, Tevin Coleman, Hollywood Brown, Devin Duvernay, Bradley Bozeman, Patrick Queen, Jaylon Ferguson, Reed Blankenship, Marlon Humphrey

2. Green Bay Packers (7-1) - B and the Green Bay Packers are the other team and owner to claim a league title this cycle. Everyone knew an owner of B's caliber doesn't lose 15 games last season and it not be on purpose. Some take issue with it, I am one of those owners who do not. His team, his vision.....so let him do what he does. This season he his doing exactly what many of us expect him to do. Thats win, and win convincingly. I have a lot of regard for B when it comes to Madden and I still almost gave him the top spot. He has the 2nd ranked offense in terms of yards, 2nd ranked pass offense, 4th best in PPG, and he is 2nd in pass TDs. Defensively, he has the 4th best total defense, 5th ranked pass defense, top ranked defense in lowest points allowed per game, and he leads the league in INTs and QB tackles. He probably carries the most dominate team on both sides of the ball, however, the loss in week 9 and soft schedule places him at the second spot in these rankings.

Strong Wins- Eagles

Key Players- Jordan Love, Aaron Jones, Kyle Pitts, Jake Smith, Brandon Smith, Rashan Gary, Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage

3. Denver Broncos (8-1) - Q, another owner who I carry a very high regard for in Madden. He has the most league titles in SFL history and after missing the playoffs last season for the first time I have ever seen, he is back looking like his old self and dominating league games. He has his Denver Broncos as the 5th ranked total offense, 6th ranked pass offense, 2nd in PPG, and 4th in pass TDs. Defensively, he has the 9th ranked rush defense, 5th best defense in lowest PPG, 2nd in QB tackles, 1st in fumble recoveries, and 7th in INTs. He also is the 7th best team in redzone scoring and tops the league in turnover differential.

Strong wins- Browns, Titans, Chargers, Chiefs

Key Players- Drew Lock, Marquez Stevenson, Noah Fant, Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, Daxton Hill, Brandon McManus

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-1) - I am not too familiar with Goon, but it seems pretty clear he is a top tier owner in the SFL. Although he is in that group of cheaters and stat padders, his track record this cycle and this season speak for itself. After losing 3 of his stars due to suspension, his team has not lost any rhythm whatsoever. His offense ranks 9th in total offense and 1st in rush offense. He is also 3rd in PPG and 6th in pass TDs. He ranks 8th in pass yards allowed, 4th in points allowed, 3rd in QB tackles, and 3rd in INTs on the defensive side of the ball. He is also very efficient as he is the 4th best team on 3rd down, 1st in the redzone, and 2nd in turnover differential. This team will make a run at another SB berth.

Strong Wins- Seahawks, 49ers

Key Players- Matt Corral, Leonard Fournette, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Ryan Jensen, Alex Cappa, Joe Dahl, DeForest Buckner, Devin White, Andre Cisco

5. Dallas Cowboys (6-2) - Mike has his Dallas Cowboys ranked in the top 7 in every offensive team statistical category to include being tops in the league in 1st downs gained. This means he can straight grind your defense out if needed with Tony Pollard in that backfield. Defensively he was able to crack the top 10 in pass yards allowed, QB tackles, and fumbles recovered. He is also a top 10 team in 3rd down efficiency and redzone scoring. I expect the Cowboys to continue their strong season and be a difficult out for the "other" two in the NFC.

Strong Wins- Eagles

Key Players- Dak Prescott, Tony Pollard, Baylor Cupp, Amari Cooper, Tyler Linderbaum, Leighton Vander Esch, Nolan Smith,

6. Tennessee Titans (6-2) - It was difficult to rank them ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but Matt has handed that team Ls the last two times they have faced off. That alone gives them the nod here at six. Offensively, nothing really jumps off the page as he his the lowest ranked offense in these rankings. However, he does boast the 7th ranked rush offense and 9th ranked scoring offense. He is also in the top 10 in rushing TDs and first downs gained. Defensivley he has the Titans in the top 10 in rush defense and PPG. This is not a "flashy" team like many in these rankings, but the Titans just stick around and are a very good team at making the right play at the right time. That will lead to success and success is what he is seeing.

Strong Wins- Jaguars, Browns

Key Players- Derrick Henry, Devonta Smith, Roger Saffold III, Laken Tomlinson, Aashari Crosswell, Braxton McFadden, Jayon Brown

7. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-1) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have rattled off 8 straight wins since dropping the season opener to the Titans. J feels he is getting back to his old self before his multi-year hiatus away from competitive Madden. In past Maddens he has always carried an explosive offense and finally here in season 3, his offense has become just that. The Jaguars are top ranked team in terms of offensive yardage. They are also tops in pass yards, PPG, and rush TDs. They rank 7th in the league in pass TDs, respectively. Defensively, they have struggled to stop opposing teams from moving the football. This is another reason they fall to seven in these rankings. Although they rank 2nd in the league in rush defense, they rank 31st in pass defense. However, they have been a very opportunistic defense. They rank 5th in QB tackles, 6th in fumble recoveries, and 2nd in INTs. They are also a top 5 team in redzone offense and top 10 team in redzone defense. It appears he has his defense looking like that dreaded bend but don't break type. The Jags just want to compete.

Strong Wins- Chargers, Chiefs

Key Players- Matthew Stafford, Derrius Guice, Wan'Dale Robinson, Corey Linsley, Josh Jones, Patrick Surtain Jr, Hamsah Nasirildeen, Josh Allen, K'Lavon Chaisson

8. Los Angeles Chargers (6-3) - LB, another owner with a strong and rich SFL history where multiple rings were claimed. He still remains a very strong owner who should continue to remain in these power rankings moving forward, However, as a man who claims to have "the answers" I expect to see more moving forward. This Chargers teams ranks outside the top 10 in every team offensive category except for first downs gained where they rank 8th. LB has voiced before though, he deploys a more methodical approach instead of trying to fire up the scoreboard. The defensive side of the ball is where he finds his most success. This can also be attributed to long methodical drives keeping the other teams' offense on the sideline. Defensively he has his team ranked 5th in total defense, 6th in pass defense, 3rd in PPG, and 10th in QB tackles. LB is a proven vet and a proven winner. He is an owner that can win any week.

Strong Wins- Chiefs, 49ers, Titans

Key Players- Austin Ekeler, Tamorrion Terry, Bryan Bulaga, Carter Blankenship, Kenneth Murray Jr, Uchenna Nwosu, Joey Bosa, Derwin James Jr, Michael Badgley

9. Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) - I think Zach has made this a very underrated Eagles team. Bryce and the 49ers try and claim to be the team that runs and does not pass. It appears though, that recipe is happening in Philly and to great success. The Eagles rank second to last in pass offense but rank 5th in rush offense and 6th in rush TDs. They are also sending out a top 10 defenive team in total defense which is anchored by their top ranked rush defense. This defense is also 2nd in the league in fewest points allowed. They also rank 5th in QB tackles, 7th in fumble recoveries, and 5th in INTs. A top defense who does not allow points and causes turnovers will lead to wins.....and usually playoff wins.

Strong Wins- Cowboys, Lions

Key Players- Miles Sanders, Quinton Spain, Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Andre Dillard, Davion Taylor, Fletcher Cox, Blake Cashman, K'Von Wallace

10. Detroit Lions (6-2) - The Detroit Lions are playing very impressive football and could even be higher on this list. They tried to make a move before the trade deadline to improve that pass offense even more. He understands he needs to keep pace with them Green Bay Packers. The Lions are the 4th ranked team in total offense and 3rd in pass offense. They rank 6th in PPG, 6th in first downs gained, and they lead the league in passing TDs. While the Lions possess the second worst rush defense, they have the 7th best defense against the pass. They also rank 4th in defensive INTs. They have the 7th best 3rd down offense and 8th best redzone offense. This is a team, like the Jaguars who can score with anyone. They however have an achilles heal on defense with the Lions being the rush defense. Can this team score enough to make some noise?

Strong Wins- Seahawks, Cowboys

Key Players- Tua Tagovailoa, Kenny Golladay, Jamal Agnew, Frank Ragnow, Trey Smith, Demani Richardson, Tracy Walker

Trade Deadline Uneventful

The 2022 trade deadline has passed and not a single move was made. The Jacksonville Jaguars were holding a fire sale hoping to gain additional draft assets. Players such as Taven Bryan, Jalen Twyman, Jalen Virgil, Sidney Jones IV, and Quincy Williams were inquired about.

Trade talks never really made it past the "inquiry" stage. With it being season 3 in the SFL, many teams have built what they like and realize this could be the last draft with significant value. Jaguars head coach and GM, Cash Conklin was asked why he put players that have played a significant part in helping them to a 7-1 record on the block? "Depth". A simple response implying the depth he feels he has at those positions.

Twyman in particular has helped the Jaguars start the first half of the season as the #1 rush defense in the league. He might not splash in "individual stats" but his presence is felt in the run defense. While Virgil doesn't see much time on the field after a 1k yard rookie season, he is basically a walking touchdown when he does see the field as both his catches have gone for 6. "Speed is the most valuable asset in this league, and I'm happy to stay put in this offense" Virgil was caught saying before the week 9 showdown with division rival Texans.

Coach feels his team is firing on all cylinders and expects to be a tough out for any opponent the rest of the season. "You can't win them all, however, I am just here to compete" the final words from Coach as he left the podium.

2022 SFL Mock Draft

2022 SFL Mock Draft- Round 1

1. Green Bay Packers- This pick I feel could go one of two ways.......however, with DE being a little lighter than CB on the current roster, the pick here should be Kayvon Thibodeaux out of the University of Oregon. His athleticism off the edge is unparalled in this draft and puts him already near the top of current edge rushers in the league. This would be a boon after a 1-15 tank job after winning the SB in season one.

2. Miami Dolphins- The Miami Dolphins make the easy pick here.....it's Derek Stingley Jr. One of the best CB prospects in years and should turn into a top CB in the league in a short time. This would give Miami one of the best CB rooms in the entire league and even allowing Byron Jones to move back to safety where he played some during his time in Dallas. This gives the secondary an even better look moving forward.

3. New York Giants- This is a very difficult pick to project. This team carries many holes across the entire roster. The shear fact they have only two WRs on the roster, I have them taking Garrett Wilson to immediately step into a starting role and this also gives last year's first round pick Justin Fields another weapon.

4. Houston Texans- This team carries many needs across the defensive side of the ball at DE, DT, and in the secondary. With the Tennessee Henrys in that division, I have the Texans selecting Zach Harrison who is not only a stellar pass rusher with great athleticism, he is also a valuble run defender to help agaisnt the outside runs that Tennessee likes to draw up. This would also allow Ross Blacklock to kick inside creating a very formidable defensive front.

5. Chicago Bears- With the Texans selecting Zach Harrison and breaking the hearts of the Bears' front office, they decide to draft Kyle Hamilton, the freak safety out of Notre Dame. He can be paired with Eddie Jackson creating a top safety duo in the league.

6. Los Angeles Rams- The Rams are in a position here to capitalize on a player that can add to an already strong roster and bolster one of their weaker position groups. The pick here is: Zacch Pickens. He is a freak in the middle of the defensive line that should start and contribute immediately.

7. New England Patriots- The Patriots can't go through another season with Cam Newton throwing ducks all over the field. Here they should take the top QB on the board and new franchise QB, Sam Howell out of North Carolina. This is the type of QB that can help them win the bottom dweller division.

8. Arizona Cardinals- The Arizona Cardinals have zero TEs on their roster, and they must get more weapons outside of Kenyan Drake and Deandre Hopkins as he is a target hog even with a solid WR room. The pick here is the game-changing TE in Baylor Cupp. He has WR speed that can cause mis-matches all over the field.

9. Indianapolis Colts- The Colts have a coming to Jesus moment during the draft and decide to pass on a speed WR for a speedy CB in Isaac Taylor-Stuart. This team loves speed and they love their WRs but CB is the pick here as the Saints' front office sit backs and smiles.

10.Minnesota Vikings- The Vikings find themselves staring at a lot of talent across the board. BPA could be the call here, however, this team needs a QB. The D'Eriq King experiemnt did not last long in Minnesota and with as 1st round talent in Kedon Slovis sitting here, that is the pick.

11. Detroit Lions- The Lions own the 11th pick after a draft day trade with Cleveland. After moving Rashod Bateman, the Lions find themselves in need of a WR. The pick here will be George Pickens. Getting this WR outside the top 10 will go down as a steal with him being a top 9 player in this draft class.

12. Atlanta Falcons- With the top QBs off the board, the Falcons find themselves looking elsewhere. With the inadvertant trade of AJ Terrell Jr, the teams best CB, this is where they look in round 1. They take Derion Kendrick out of Clemson. While not as good in covergage as another CB that was still on the board, this is a league built around speed and Kendrick has speed to burn.

13. Dallas Cowboys- The Cowboys draft Nick Broeker here. The best OT prospect in the class

14. Green Bay Packers- The Packers are extremely happy to be able to select Wan'Dale Robinson here with their second pick of the 1st round. This could take this offense to the next level.

15. Los Angeles Rams- Robinson going one pick before the Rams' selection was worst case scenario. With IOL being a need, but none being of this draft status, they select MLB Brandon Smith out of Penn State

16. Denver Broncos- The Denver Broncos have a very complete roster. The selection here is DT Chris Hinton

17. Denver Broncos- The Broncos strengthen their secondary with Kaiir Elam

18. Pittsburgh Steelers- The Steelers could take their offense to the next level by getting a game-changing RB. They go against the initial draft board rankings and select Jerrion Ealy to be their guy.

19. New York Jets- The Jets' front office is expected to be drunk, high, or both during tonight's draft. However, with multiple positional needs as they have empty position groups, this draft falls in their favor. They draft ROLB Nolan Smith here to help fortify their defense.

20. Detroit Lions- With their second selection of round 1, the Detroit Lions select Owen Pappoe to take over their LB corps.

21. San Franciso 49ers- The 49ers are tempted go RB here to pair with Journey Brown......and they do exactly that drafting Breece Hall.

22. Tennesse Henrys- The Henrys select SS Demani Richardson filling a defensive need

23. Philadelphia Eagles- The Eagles select George Karlaftis filling a need at defensive end

24. Jacksonville Jaguars- With no punter on the roster, the Jaguars get their guy with top ranked punter Michael Turk

25. New Orleans Saints- The Saints cried real tears seeing Wan'Dale Robinson get picked at 14. The orignal cheese master goes with back-up plan and selects WR Tyrell Shavers because well.......he is fast

26. Tennessee Henrys- The Henrys are up again and here they select MLB Damone Clark

27. Dallas Cowboys- The Cowboys replace Tyron Smith whom they traded to the Los Angeles Chargers with the selection of RT Evan Neal

28. Carolina Panthers- Although with a need at QB, the Panthers decided to go with better value and draft FS Daxton Hill to pair with Jeremy Chinn

29. Cleveland Browns- With needs at WR and Edge, the Browns decide to go defense with the selection of ROLB Anthony Hines

30. New York Jets- The Jets is another team in need of OLB help and they select LOLB Merlin Robertson

31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- The SB runner-up doesn't have many needs on their roster and decide to draft OL Kenyon Green which would roll right into their top 5 OL for the upcoming season.

32. Baltimore Ravens- With hands down the best roster in the league, the Ravens can select BPA or a player with a specfic attribute that they covet. With this luxury, they reach on WR Charleston Rambo to bolster an already fast and lethal WR group.

Jaguars Take Division

Coach Cash Conklin said last off-season that he would lead this team to a division title and a playoff appearance. Well, he did exactly that. Even though the team started off 6-1, the offense was piss poor and they were barely winning games that should not have been as close as they were and that led to a change at quarterback. Coach made the switch during the bye week back to Gardner Minshew. Minshew Mania got off to a rough start his first game back under center taking the loss to the MUT-49ers and their broken running game. However, during the 9 games he played, he passed for 2685 yards, 20 TDs, and only 5 INTs. He would finish the year with the highest QB rating in the league. This isn't to say this team is elite or plays at an elite level, it just shows that Trubisky should never have been named the starter. It was a succesful season where coach was able to be on the sideline for every game and ended up with a 12-4 record and the #2 seed. In the wildcard round of the playoffs, the Jags will host a familiar foe in the MUT-Titans and THEIR broken running game. Coach had this to say, "It is tough to defend these broken RBs and the MUT style offenses I am seeing. I love watching them zig-zag around defenders creating running lanes that naturally would need a cut or spin to get into. However, that is neither here nor there and we just need to treat this like it is......a video game. I hope to evolve this offense into what I am seeing around the league with teams putting video game numbers to shame. That is the goal. The goal is to cheese and cheese often." It was a successful season indeed for these Jacksonville Jaguars and I am sure their playoff game will be a battle to the end. Coach's parting words as he left the podium, "If I get elminated from the playoffs this week, I would be happy it was to the Titans over any other team in the league for what that is worth."

Waiver Wire Order to Begin Season

Welcome everyone to the GLFL and the Madden 21 cycle. Once you are in the league, please do not make any roster changes to include dropping, position changes, edit of any kind, etc. I want the waiver wire process to be complete before any of that happens and before any requests are sent to the admin team. The waiver wire process will be a single player selection by each team beginning with the team with the worst overall rating working its way to the best overall team rating. Minshew Mania is Back!

During Jacksonville's bye week, there were rumblings that Gardner Minshew could regain his starting job that he lost this last off-season. It is now confirmed Gardner Minshew will start next week against the San Francisco 49ers. "Mitch did a serviceable job for this football team. He just seemed to miss too many short to intermediate throws each and every game. There were even some easy 6s that he has missed this season. Gardner is more accurate at each level of the field than Mitch. Mitch has the slightly stronger arm and is more athletic, however, the offense has not operated under the need of an athletic QB. I think Gardner gives this offense a better chance to succeed moving forward." Coach Conklin was recorded saying this after today's practice. I can't confirm nor deny the choice of QB is going to help or hurt this offense. Things could virtually look the same as they have for the first 7 games of the season. It will be interesting to see if Gardner can play well enough to go into next season with a chance to start again. It is no secret that Jacksonville covets a QB and OL in the upcoming draft. Lets see if Gardner can force the Coach to make a selection to protect him rather than replace him.......again.

Jaguars off to a 5-1 Start

The Jacksonville Jaguars have started their season with a 5-1 record. This is a one game improvement from last year's start of 4-2. We all know how that season ended as Jacksonville only won 1 of their last 10 games. Now, 7 of those games were coached by the longtime league shit stain, Coach Ark. Coach Conklin imediately fired him and declared he would be around for the entirety of season two. While the 5-1 record is nice to look at, this team does not feel like a top team by any stretch of the imagination. Without the incredible amount of turnovers and defensive TDs the defense was able to force, this team would be sitting at 2-3. Jacksonville's lone loss, was against the LA Chargers which on paper is seen as the only "strong" team he has faced. Coach is aware of this but did say, "We can only play the team in front of us". He still understands the importance of figuring stuff out like the other MUT and ARCADE teams have in this league. The Mitchell Trubisky experiment has been very underwhelming and coach is considering a move back to Minshew Mania. The rookie class has been very productive with 8 rookies seeing significant starter minutes. Coach has also recently resigned WR DJ Chark and DT Taven Bryan to team friendly deals considering what they can do on a football field. There are a lot of games left with many "strong" MUT level opponents on the schedule. Coach had these final words at the press conference, "What does it take to get unopened packs?"

Jacksonville Under Construction

The Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 season did not go as coach Cash Conklin had hoped. Coach was making his return to football after roughly 5 years away from the game, losing those nuances that once made him a threat year in and year out. After week 10, Coach had to step away again from the game for the remainder of the season leaving the division lead in the review mirror as well. Interim coach Ark would finish the season 0-7 and was immediately fired upon season's end. Coach Conklin did however, not lose his vision of what he wanted this team to look like. He wanted playmakers on both sides of the ball, a stud QB, and a formidable offensive line. The current state of this team shows coach has accomplished..........one of these goals with playmakers everywhere. Lets take a look at how free agency and the draft went......

FREE AGENCY

Free agency did not go poorly, but there were some missed opportunities to sign some impactful players. Damontae Kazee was a top target for Coach as he felt this was a better route than using a draft pick on the back half of the secondary. Kazee felt playing for a SB at this point in his career was better for him and that is a decision many can support. Haason Reddick was another top target after the off-season trade of Myles Jack to the Minnesota Vikings. Reddick was drawn to the vision of the Coach that would allow Reddick to play freely and get all over the field. Another major signing by Coach was being able to sign Mitch Trubisky to a team friendly deal that carries no dead money if Mitch were to not make the team. Trubisky was signed as insurance if the draft were to not fall how Coach was hoping. There will be more on that later. Hakeem Butler is also on board the rebuild in Jacksonville and switching positions from WR to TE to create even more mismatches on the field. There were more signings for Coach that simply helped create depth on the roster and some will compete for playing time.

DRAFT

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a gazillion draft picks which afforded Coach the flexibility to take BPA, dart throws, and positions of need. With 3 first round picks, Coach was hoping to help out the OL with OG Wyatt Davis. However, Davis went two picks before it was Jacksonville's turn. The idea Ja'Marr Chase was sitting on the board one pick before Jacksonville had Coach on the edge of his seat but Buffalo did the right thing by ending the draft day fall of a future superstar. Finally, it was Jacksonville's turn to pick, and they would be picking back to back. They decided on Patrick Surtain II, and his college teammate Jaylen Waddle. This creates an incredible CB trio of CJ Henderson, Surtain II, and Sidney Jones IV. With all of them under contract for the next 4/5 years respectfully. Jacksonville lacked a true weapon outside of DJ Chark in the wideout room. So, the selection of burner Jaylen Waddle made the most sense. At pick 18, Jacksonville was up again. They were torn between safties Andre Cisco and Hamsah Nasirildeen. Coach decided to draft the "freak" Hamsah to pair with Josh Jones in the back half. That selection would end up to look even better after Coach selected LSU safety Kary Vincet Jr in round 3. Vincent ended up being the selection after the Colts snagged up Kyle Trask four picks before Jacksonville surprising Coach after Indy gave Jameis Winston $50 million this off-season. Jacksonville's 2nd round pick was Jaylen Twyman after not picking up Taven Bryan's fifth year option. Trask was considered in round 2, but Coach felt this value was greater and he thought Trask might still be there in round 3. Twyman is also considered a future superstar when looking at his traits. The rest of the draft was about finding playmakers and value. One more notable pick to discuss is the selection of Jalen Virgil in round 4 after he was projected to not be selected. "The athleticism and speed was just too much to pass up. When you have a guy with 4.3 speed and a 40" inch vertical...that is rare. "We anticipate this coaching staff developing this young guy into a legit playmaker" Coach Conklin was caught saying after the selection.

2021 SEASON

Coach Conklin expects himself to be on the sidelines for every game in 2021 with his personal life slowing down and becoming a bit more scheduled. He also expects himself to take another step towards regaining some of the ability that once made him a contender. He wants the AFC South to know a fun fact.......In every season in the SFL where he has coached from start to finish......he has never missed playoffs, and has never NOT won his division. Some interesting words from a coach that was merely 5-4 in games with him on the sideline. If Coach can't recapture some of the ability he seems to have lost, it will be another season drafting in the top 10. Good luck to everyone in the SFL this year....may anyone win the SB but the Denver Broncos.

Titans start season with win

The Tennessee Titans hosted the Detroit Lions in week 1 of the 2016 SFL season. Due to a crazy power outage at the stadium in the 4th quarter the game was cancelled and all plays as if they never happened. League rules state that the team that was ahead at that point in time can take a automatic win through the league office but head coach Warren Moon said "I am in this league to coach football games not get automatic wins."

With that said both teams returned to the field a couple hours later and this game counted. Marcus Mariota was nearly flawless the first time around and countered that with an even more impressive perfomance tossing 5 TD passes. "It was a fun night for football, the wide receivers made my job easy getting separation consistantly tonight." A humble Mariota after tonights performance.

"That Detroit team has a solid coach over there and a very stingy run defense. I am glad Marcus was at the helm becasue without him this outcome could have been much different" Offensive Coordinator Earl Campbell speaking about the lions after tonights vicotry. If Marcus Mariota can cut down on the turnovers that plagued him during his rookie season the sky is the limit for this much improved team from last season. Next on the docket is the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight at 9:35 PM PST. Cant wait to see what this team does next. From ESPN I'm Scott Van Pelt

Titans make early season move

The Tennessee Titans are at it again. They have traded away their 2nd round draft pick, hometown favorite running back DeSean Hunter who played his college ball at the University of Tennessee for the Houston Texans 2017 2nd round pick. "DeSean is a great kid and a pause worker, he is an every down back in this league. I just dont feel he fits our system. DeSean wasn't a position of need for us going into the draft and was kind of a value pick as well as being a panic pick by our GM Ruston Weber. Since I am talking with you I might as well announce I have also been given the position as Director of player personnel and its time to build my vision."

Startling news coming from the Titans front office where Warren Moon has been handed the keys to the franchise and make any moves that he wants with no one telling him other wise. This is going to be fun to watch just to see what is made good or bad with this football team. From NFL Network I'm Marshall Faulk.

Off-season Recap: Titans make plethora of moves

The Tennessee Titans who recently this last season started playing their games in the city of Tacoma fell short of their Super Bowl aspirations losing to Dirty Chan and the New England Patriots in the AFC Title Game.

"Chan coached a great game and executed well.  The Patriots flat out crushed us and I tip my cap to him." said head coach Warren Moon this afternoon. With that crushing defeat the front office wasted no time making a move.  They sent starting outside linebacker Brian Orakpo and a 4th round pick to the San Diego Chargers for cornerback Jason Verrett and middle linebacker Denzel Perryman.  Add that to the free agent signings of Prince Shembo, Andre Smith, Marus Burley and some other key depth signins along with the moving of Derrick Morgan to defensive end this team has a whole new outlook.

"I like where our team is headed, with some key signings and a key trade along with Jordan Dalton our 1st round pick this team should get back to where we were last year.  Its a better a team.  I hate saying that as in I feel im slandering our success from last year but its clear.  This team will compete" more words from Warren.

Its clear as day Warren Moon is excited about this years ball club and he has expressed his likeness of playing in Tacoma as he has a home in the state of Washington.  Only time will tell how good this team really is. From NFL Network I'm Rich Eisen
