M21 Season recaps

Failcons recap

The Falcons are used to losing in epic collapses and unfortunately, 2020 ended in the true Atlanta tradition. Still despite a tough loss in the divisional round, the ATL coaching staff had plenty of success to keep their heads high and build on for next season.

Playing behind maybe the most porous offensive line in the league, Gardner Minshew thrived, finishing 2nd in passing yards (4872) and first in touchdowns (47).

Runningback Saquon Barkley had a monster year, racking up over 2000 all purpose yards on the season. Barkley rushed for 1067 yards and 11 touchdowns while hauling in 75 catches for 1050 yards and 5 tds. In total, the Falcons had 3 players with over 1000 yards receiving. Team captain Cooper Kupp caught 64 balls for 1014 yards and 10 TDS, while breakout wide receiver Scotty Miller led the NFL in touchdown catches (17). Despite his 5'9" stature, Miller was a true redzone threat as he won with speed and route finesse. Miller finished with 1276 yards to lead the Falcons.

On defense, the dirty birds struggled for most the season. A midseason trade for probowl defensive tackle Grady Jarret helped plug a leaky run defense, but the Falcons pass coverage was a season-long work in progress. Veteran pass rusher Justin Houston turned back the clock to provide the Falcons with 6 sacks, 33 tackles and 3 forced fumbles. Meanwhile, rookie CB Jaylon Johnson began playing at a high level toward the end of the season and could blossom into one of the leagues' best cbs over time.

The Falcons defensive MVP was the ball-hawking safety Chancey Gardner Johnson. CGJ racked up 9 picks, 35 tackles and one forced fumble en route to his first probowl appearance.

The Falcons are a young team and have few pieces that they expect to retire aside from LT Donald Penn and potentially Houston. The Falcons will likely use the draft to shore up holes on the offensive line. Look for Atlanta to look for trade partners for WR TY Hilton as the birds expect Isaiah McKenzie to step into a larger role on offense. If the Falcons can continue divisional dominance in the NFC South, expect the birds to be right back in the playoff mix next year.

Awards:
Offensive MVP - Saquon Barkley
Defensive MVP - Chancey Gardner Johnson
Probowlers - Gardner Minshew, Scotty Miller, Grady Jarrett, Justin Houston, CGJ, Justin Tucker.

The Phins season ended with a whimper after one of their poorest offensive outputs of the season on a snow covered field in western New York. The Dolphins secured a massive upset of the 17-0 Bengals in the AFC divisional round, but came in ill prepared against the eventual AFC Champion Bills.

Despite the defeat, head coach Geralt of Rivia was more than pleased with the way the season panned out. “I gave up monster hunting to coach this team of rag tag individuals, and though we didn’t achieve our ultimate goal, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the universe,” said the former Witcher. Geralt’s contract was extended after a 10-6 season and AFC championship berth.
Offensive MVP: Mecole Hardman - Despite missing significant time, Hardman was the ultimate threat for the Dolphins. Opposing teams were forced to adjust when he was on the field and he provided a constant deep threat and run after catch nightmare for defenders.

Defensive MVP: Von Miller - Miller was once again the NFL’s sack leader and a total force off the edge. The Dolphins featured a plethora of strong pass rushers on their d-line, but none more ferocious than the 30-year-old veteran and former superbowl MVP.

Honorable mentions: QB Josh Rosen, TE Austin Hooper, DT Cameron Heyward, CB Avonte Maddox

Season 4 Recaps

Packers recap:
It was a season of immense change for the Packers following a stunning Super Bowl defeat in overtime the previous year. That bitter loss led the Pack to ship off a load of players who were staples for GreenBay in our first three seasons.
The Packers traded QB Josh Rosen, defensive captains Cameron Jordan and Demarcus Lawrence, star linebackers Kwon Alexander and Azeem Victor, and #1 wide out Parris Campbell.

The Pack gave up a lot, but acquired, perhaps the best QB in the league – Pat Mahomes. Mahomes helped new starting receivers Rashard Higgins and Henry Ruggs III reach their full potential as superstars which turned the packers into a top 3 offense in the league.

The Packers' D took a step back this season, but there were standouts. Newly aquired DE Solomon Thomas tallied over 20 sacks, while young DT Robert Brewster developed into an Xfactor. The secondary often struggled, especially the corners on the outside. The Pack will look to address it's secondary and perhaps draft a new pass rusher in the upcoming Draft.

The Pack won the NFC North for the 3rd time in 4 seasons and won a playoff game against its rival Bears in the playoffs. However, the Packers were sent home after a poor performance and game plan against the Seahawks in the divisional round.
