SML Week 14 Player Of The Week & Power Rankings
The goal is simple. We want to recognize a player of the week each week of the regular season. Everyone always gives praise to the players who are dominating the league with their offensive skills, however we want to give praise to those who dominate the league on defense. Player Of The Week (POTW) is a defensive award. Each week DW will be handing out a POTW Award to the squad/team who allows the fewest points scored on defense against them. Simple right? Shut down your opponent for the week and receive praise from your peers while being honored for your stellar defense with an award. This award will be delivered weekly by Deathwish (DW).
***If there is a tie for the fewest points allowed by a team for the week, the first tiebreaker will be chosen by the team with the largest winning margin over their opponent. If a second tiebreaker is needed the award will go to the team that allowed the fewest total yards on defense.
Season 40 - Week 14
Player Of The Week
Dmues
The Carolina Panthers (Dmues) won the SML Week 14 POTW Award by defeating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) 34-6.
Dmues clapped Field’s cheeks in Week 14 in a 34-6 blowout highlighted by an almost perfect day from QB Russell Wilson throwing for 188 yards and 4 touchdowns while finishing the day with a 156.2 passer rating. Dmues’ WR D.J. Moore also had 2 catches on the day with 2 touchdowns including a 70 yard bomb. On defense Dmues’ CB Donte Jackson had 2 picks in which one was returned 57 yards for a touchdown.
Congrats Dmues on your first POTW Award of the season!

Season 40 - Week 11
Player Of The Week
Pauly
The Miami Dolphins (Pauly) won the SML Week 11 POTW Award by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs (Spooky) 38-6.
Pauly brings home the Week 11 POTW Award beating down Spooky and his Chiefs 38-6. HB Matt Breida went off on the ground for Pauly with 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Pauly’s QB Sheldon Tolbert almost finished the day with a perfect passer rating (154.5) while throwing for 139 yard and 2 touchdowns. Spooky isn’t doing well to prove that Raider was a liar throwing for 5 picks with QB Mahomes, but hey, this is Spooky’s second game back so I’m not going to be too rough on the guy.
Congrats Pauly on your second POTW Award of the season!

Season 40 - Week 9
Player Of The Week
Dan
The Denver Broncos (Dan) won the SML Week 9 POTW Award by defeating the Los Angeles (DW) 27-3.
Dan dominated DW in this Week 9 matchup, 27-3. DW struggled on offense the entire game as turnovers were the main culprit of the loss. DW could blame it on lag at the hotel, but we all know he forces throws when he’s down early and when it rains it pours for the Chargers. DW threw for 3 picks and lost one fumble on a Herbert scramble where he refused to dive even though DW was slamming the button way ahead of time for him to dive. I’m not bitter about this at all. Can you tell? Anyway, Dan had a decent day passing with QB Charles McDowell throwing for 229 yards with 1 touchdown and no interceptions. The only bright spot for the Chargers on the day was their defense held the Broncos in check for the majority of the game while tallying up 4 sacks between Sweat and Bosa.
Congrats Broncos on your second POTW Award of the season!

Season 40 - Week 6
Player Of The Week
Tiny
The Seattle Seahawks (Tiny) won the SML Week 6 POTW Award by defeating the Kansas City Chiefs (Raider) 41-7.
From giving one up last week to receiving one this week, Tiny brings home the Week 6 POTW Award by murdering Raider 41-7. The story behind this one, turnovers. Tiny did not turn the ball over one single time while Raider threw 4 picks with arguably the best QB in the game, Patrick Mahomes. Tiny’s HB Shonn Chisholm also went off of the day with 130 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Tiny I like seeing your name here in a positive way. Keep it up dude!

Player Of The Week
Dan
The Denver Broncos (Dan) won the SML Week 5 POTW Award by defeating the Seattle Seahawks (Tiny) 21-9.
Dan wins the Week 4 POTW Award by beating Tiny 21-9. The box score for this one is a weird one for normal POTW standards as both teams turned the ball over a minimum of 3 times each, but Dan was able to put up over 400 yards of offense and won the turnover battle to secure the victory and the Week 4 POTW. Player of the game in this one has to go to Dan’s HB Jose Grant who rushed for 130 yards and 1 touchdown.

Another week and another shutout to qualify for POTW. This week Rowin knocked off Lawyer 24-0, in a game where Rowin’s defense dominated with 4 sacks and 2 picks. Lawyer just could not get anything going against Rowin. Rowin’s QB Pearson also had a big day throwing for 3 touchdowns and 195 yards.

Fazz
The Minnesota Vikings (Fazz) won the SML Week 15 POTW Award by defeating the Dallas Cowboys (Grams) 30-0.
Damn, talk about a defensive performance. In Fazz’s Week 15 POTW win against Grams he held grams to only 27 yards passing and 66 yards rushing on the ground on his way to a 30-0 blowout. Dalvin Cook had a huge day on the ground with 121 yards passing and 2 touchdowns, as Justin Jefferson also had an impressive performance with 5 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Dmues
The Carolina Panthers (Dmues) won the SML Week 14 POTW Award by defeating the Seattle Seahawks (Tiny) 27-0.
Another shutout in the books for Week 14 as Dmues completely shut down Tiny in a 27-0 victory. Not a whole lot of offense to report in this game. The story of this game was all about defense and how Dmues forced 4 turnovers from Tiny’s offense including 3 picks thrown by Tiny’s Rookie QB Edward Meier.
Tiny, unfortunately for you this loss puts you tied for the league lead on the losers list with 2 total on the season along with Figgs and Matt.

In a week with 2 major shutouts, Woods brings home the POTW award by having the largest winning margin (48 points over 28 points (Matt’s shutout)). Woods absolutely beat the sh*t out of Figgs in Week 13. Forcing 4 turnovers on defense while compiling 441 yards of total offense. Game was never close as Woods led 42-0 at half. Wow.
Woods, this award puts you tied for first with RD on the season as you both have 2 POTW awards now on the season.

Week 13 Power Rankings:
Below I have my Prime-Time000 power rankings. The criteria used to create these rankings are as followed: What is your historical success in the SML? Have you had an extended history of winning or just short term success? If you have multiple winning seasons, you’re more likely to have some leeway - that said, if you lose a lot historically, you’re going to have to prove to me that you’re legit!!! I will also consider: How are you doing right now? Have you had any signature wins? How about signature losses? Let's take a look!
SML Week 11 Player Of The Week & Power Rankings
Season 39 - Week 11
Player Of The Week
Prime
The Indianapolis Colts (Prime) won the SML Week 11 POTW Award by defeating the Houston Texans (Oktoba) 31-6.
What a difference one week makes. Last week Prime was giving up the POTW, this week he dominated Oktoba to bring the award home. In a blowout, Prime defeated Oktoba 31-6. A game in which Oktoba had 6 turnovers all being picks by QB Sam Darnold. One key thing to note, Marlon Mack only averaged 3.8 yards per carry on the ground for Prime after Jonathan Taylor was injured in the game. Taylor is out for a minimum of 10 weeks for Prime, let’s hope Mack knocks the dust off and performs better next week.
Congrats Prime on your first POTW Award of the season!

Season 39 - Week 9
Player Of The Week
Finz
The Detroit Lions (Finz) won the SML Week 9 POTW Award by defeating the Chicago Bears (Figgs) 41-10.
Talk about a great way to start out in the SML, Finz brings home his first ever POTW Award in Week 9 against Figgs and his Bears. A dominant performance from Finz as he forced 5 turnovers in the game from Figgs while also only holding him to only 137 yards of total offense on the day.
Congrats Finz on your first POTW Award of the season!

Week 9 Power Rankings:
Below I have my Prime-Time000 power rankings. The criteria used to create these rankings are as followed: What is your historical success in the SML? Have you had an extended history of winning or just short term success? If you have multiple winning seasons, you’re more likely to have some leeway - that said, if you lose a lot historically, you’re going to have to prove to me that you’re legit!!! I will also consider: How are you doing right now? Have you had any signature wins? How about signature losses? Let's take a look!
1. Jaguars: Bomber is back at #1 where he belongs in the regular season. Is anyone surprised?
2. Vikings: Fazz is starting to feel different this season. I think it may be his year.
3. Broncos: DanHe was focused, studied, and ready to play against a less focused GOAT. All it took was a little bit of luck at the end to win too. Can Dan really feel good about that one? Hopefully he didn’t give all his energy to this game. I predict a major loss to Raiders.
4. Ravens: Look I like NYT but I’m starting to think he just had a light schedule to start this season…..
5. Washington: QP is Fazz biggest threat in the NFC in my humble opinion. But QB hasn’t risen up in playoffs yet...
6. Cardinals: Meats is playing well, but he has some big games coming up… He’ll make the playoffs, but expectations aren’t what they used to be.
7. Giants: Rowin is easily the second best in his division - after that Klinke is playing well. Rowin better keep it up.
8. Colts: Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.. Colts fall in rankings…
9. Dolphins: Pauly will climb soon.
10. Rams: The former most successful Madden player of all time, now Mr. Boring is number 10.
SML Week 8 Player Of The Week & Power Rankings

Season 39 - Week 8
Player Of The Week
Woods
The Cleveland Browns (Woods) won the SML Week 8 POTW Award by defeating the New England Patriots (Matt) 34-13.
Another poor QB performance from Matt lines him up once again on the wrong side of the POTW tracks. 5 picks with QB Lock this week easily gives the POTW Award to Woods. Not a whole lot to report here offensively as it looks like Woods had a short playing field for most of the day with all the turnovers.
Congrats Woods on your first POTW Award of the season!
Matt, this loss puts you in the lead of the losers bracket with 2 total this season.

1. Ravens: Look, NYT is the best in the league. He has a chance to cement himself against Bomber now.
2. Jaguars: Bomber is doing his thing in the regular season. The new Dan Marino.
3. Broncos: DanHe is winning games, I’m proud of him. Soon - he will fall to the goat.
4. Vikings: Fazz is so nice, I’m surprised he hasn’t gifted someone a win yet… Then again it’s not playoffs yet.
5. Washington: QP is dominating the competition in electric fashion. I’m glad I don’t have to play him in the playoffs unless if we meet in the SB!
6. Dolphins: Pauly bounces back from a losing skid to upset the GOAT!
7. Colts: WASHED!
8. Giants: Rowin cuh, the young stunna doing his thing, happy to see him still in the top ten!
9. Rams: RD is winning a lot of games but he hasn’t been super impressive this season. Maybe a SB loss hangover?
10. Eagles: Wow look who’s back in the top ten!!!! Congrats Hedgeduck or whatever your name is! Now get some wins going!

Season 39 - Week 7
Player Of The Week
Bomber
The Jacksonville Jaguars (Bomber) won the SML Week 7 POTW Award by defeating the Arizona Cardinals (Meats) 14-3.
Not a lot of offense to report in this game, however holding your opponent to only 3 points during the regular season almost guarantees you a POTW Award everytime in this league, and that’s just what Bomber did in Week 7 against Meats in his 14-3 victory. Bomber’s defense is what won this game as he held Meat’s offense to less than 200 yards on the day.
Congrats Bomber on your first POTW Award of the season!

Season 39 - Week 6
Player Of The Week
Dan
The Denver Broncos (Dan) won the SML Week 6 POTW Award by defeating the Miami Dolphins (Pauly) 24-6.
An impressive win in Week 6 for Dan as he knocked out one of the AFC’s toughest teams in Pauly and his Dolphins in a 24-6 win. It’s crazy when you look at the numbers because Pauly really did shut down Dan’s offense but it looks like 2 turnovers by Pauly cost him the game.
Congrats Dan on your first POTW Award of the season!

1. Ravens: We all have insecurities, mine was admitting NYT is the best in the league. That said, I admit it. I was wrong. He is THAT dude.
2. Jaguars: The typical SML regular season darling has fallen from grace. He’s now #2. Eat it.
3. Vikings: Vacation time again? I thought you took those deep into the playoffs…
4. Broncos: Dan beat Pauly again, he got lucky though. I’ll say it.
5. Colts: washed goat.
6. Giants: I call it how I see it, only elite players come back with onside kicks. Rowin is elite.
7. Washington: I love me some QP. I apologize for talking sh-- in last article.
8. Steelers: This is the KJ Slander crossroads, a tough loss leaves him to decide if he wants to stay hot or not.
9. Cardinals: Meats will hover around this spot for the season then get bounced round 1….
10. 49ers: Dump is not focused, he’s #10.

Season 39 - Week 5
Player Of The Week
Rd
The Los Angeles Rams (RD) won the SML Week 5 POTW Award by defeating the Seattle Seahawks (Tiny) 17-0.
Rd continues his dominance over Tiny in this Week 5 matchup shutting him out 17-0 earning him the Week 5 POTW Award. Not a whole lot to report here other than Rd forced 3 turnovers from Tiny’s offense and that looks to be the driving factor of this win, not to mention that Rd also only allowed 127 total yards of offense against Tiny.
Congrats RD on your first POTW Award of the season!

1. Jaguars: Just keep winning just keep winning. It’s regular season Bomber, what do you expect? #1 regular season player in the league.
2. Vikigns: Fazz undefeated after a huge win against RD. Mr. Flaccid looking strong
3. Steelers: KJ is dominating the league right now. He is an early superbowl favorite.
4. Broncos: Pastor Dan has been quiet this season, the Clique has moved on to other games and left Dan in the dust.
5. Colts: washed goat.
6. Ravens: If NYT BEATS kj again he’s easily best player in league, but for now he’s #6.
7. Washington: Another flashy player early in the cycle, I’m curious of how things will finish for QP .
8. Giants: The young buck came back against Grams in dramatic fashion, I feel that the torch was passed that game.
9. Cardinals: Meats is back alive, yay?
10. Dolphins: Pauly is #10 in the league for now…
