SML Week 9 Player Of The Week & Power Rankings

The goal is simple. We want to recognize a player of the week each week of the regular season. Everyone always gives praise to the players who are dominating the league with their offensive skills, however we want to give praise to those who dominate the league on defense. Player Of The Week (POTW) is a defensive award. Each week DW will be handing out a POTW Award to the squad/team who allows the fewest points scored on defense against them. Simple right? Shut down your opponent for the week and receive praise from your peers while being honored for your stellar defense with an award. This award will be delivered weekly by Deathwish (DW).

***If there is a tie for the fewest points allowed by a team for the week, the first tiebreaker will be chosen by the team with the largest winning margin over their opponent. If a second tiebreaker is needed the award will go to the team that allowed the fewest total yards on defense.

Season 39 - Week 9

Player Of The Week

Finz

The Detroit Lions (Finz) won the SML Week 9 POTW Award by defeating the Chicago Bears (Figgs) 41-10.

Talk about a great way to start out in the SML, Finz brings home his first ever POTW Award in Week 9 against Figgs and his Bears. A dominant performance from Finz as he forced 5 turnovers in the game from Figgs while also only holding him to only 137 yards of total offense on the day.

Congrats Finz on your first POTW Award of the season!

Week 9 Power Rankings:

Below I have my Prime-Time000 power rankings. The criteria used to create these rankings are as followed:  What is your historical success in the SML? Have you had an extended history of winning or just short term success?  If you have multiple winning seasons, you’re more likely to have some leeway - that said, if you lose a lot historically, you’re going to have to prove to me that you’re legit!!!  I will also consider: How are you doing right now? Have you had any signature wins? How about signature losses?  Let's take a look!

1. Jaguars: Bomber is back at #1 where he belongs in the regular season. Is anyone surprised?

2. Vikings: Fazz is starting to feel different this season. I think it may be his year.

3. Broncos: DanHe was focused, studied, and ready to play against a less focused GOAT. All it took was a little bit of luck at the end to win too. Can Dan really feel good about that one? Hopefully he didn’t give all his energy to this game. I predict a major loss to Raiders.

4. Ravens: Look I like NYT but I’m starting to think he just had a light schedule to start this season…..

5. Washington: QP is Fazz biggest threat in the NFC in my humble opinion. But QB hasn’t risen up in playoffs yet...

6. Cardinals: Meats is playing well, but he has some big games coming up… He’ll make the playoffs, but expectations aren’t what they used to be.

7. Giants: Rowin is easily the second best in his division - after that Klinke is playing well. Rowin better keep it up.

8. Colts: Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.. Colts fall in rankings…

9. Dolphins: Pauly will climb soon.

10. Rams: The former most successful Madden player of all time, now Mr. Boring is number 10.
