After recently being traded to the Carolina Panthers from the Philadelphia Eagles, Quarterback Jalen Hurts is in high spirits despite following a loss to the Denver Broncos. The Carolina media spent quite some time with the Oklahoma product after the game.
How did you feel out there with your new team for the first time?
"It felt great, although we only had a week of practice under our belt I felt super comfortable with everything that was going on."
Donning the #1 jersey in Carolina is something fans did not think they'd see again, did you talk to Cam [Newton] about this?
"Of course! I don't think it gets approved without his say so. Cam and I are good friends and he advocated for me a lot coming into the league, it's an honour to follow in his footsteps."
What do you think you could have cleaned up to have the outcome of this start be different?
"There's a fair amount for sure, I didn't secure the ball while running and couldn't find a conversion on 4th twice in the red-zone for starters. I know we're better than this."
What is the relationship like between you and Sam [Darnold]?
"That man is a competitor and I have the most respect for him. Sam and I got along well from the jump, we both just want to win and help the team in any way we can."
What would you say to the Panther fans moving forward?
"I would tell them to lock in, I'm happy this organization believes in me, we've got something special going on here. Last but not least, Keep Pounding!"
The Carolina Panthers will get another shot to find Hurts his first win in the black and blue week 8 when they take on the Washington Football Team.
