Following their win vs the New Orleans Saints the Miami Dolphins have clinched the AFC East for the first time since the 2008 season. Sittng at 12-3 with 2 games left in the season, the Dolphins are still not out of contention for a firsr round bye but would need some luck to go their way along with a win vs the Titans and Pats in their remaining games. The season has seen great performances by the young core of players such as 2nd year QB Tua Tagovaoila and rookies Jevon Holland, Jaelen Phillips and Jaylen Waddle. But by far the biggest standout on the team has to be star cornerback Xavien Howard who leads the league in INTs with 16 and is the front runner for defensive player of the year. The defense overall has been amazing in Miami posting 3rd in takeaways and 5th in PPG and the #5 ranked defense in the league. We caught up with the head coach after the game to see what he had to say regarding the division title.
"This is the first step in the right direction for this organization and exactly what I set out to do in my first year here to really lay the foundation. Im proud of what these guys have been able to accomplish so far but we arent done yet. We're gonna get prepared for our final 2 games of the year and focus on what we have to do in the playoffs."
The Dolphins will close out the season away vs Titans next week and then home for the finale vs New England.
