The Baltimore Ravens won SFL Super Bowl 50 this past sunday over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs in a last second thrilling victory. Things were not looking good for the Ravens late in the game as Tom Brady commenced a typical go ahead touchdown drive that left only 18 seconds on the clock; Brady found Evans for a 22 yard touchdown and went back to him for the 2 point attempt to try and extend the lead to 3 but the pass was broken up by MLB Malik Harrison on what was a great and critical stop that will be overlooked by what came next. With only 18 seconds and 2 timeouts to work with from his own 25, Lamar Jackson had to cook up a miracle for the city of Baltimore, and that's just what he did. On the first play after the kick return Jackson took the snap from shotgun and waited for somehting to get open, not seeing much Lamar knew he had to improvise to make something happen. Buying as much time as possible for his play makers Jackson escaped the pocket and rolled out to his left until he was nearly chased out of bounds by the ensuing pressure and launched the ball up for his sure handed target, 2nd year WR Devin Duvernay who was able make a play on the ball and secure the catch to get his team into field goal range. The Tampa Bay sideline was distraught after it seemed like there was nothing there until Lamar Jackson made a Lamar Jackson play. After calling a timeout RB JK Dobbins took a handoff for 3 yards to get closer in range for a game winner. And with 3 seconds left, one of the greatest kickers of all time Justin Tucker trotted on to the field for what was the most important kick of his career. The field goal unit set up for a 56 yard attempt and with time expiring Tucker had ice in his veins and put it right through the uprights to bring home the Lombardi for the Baltimore Ravens.
While Lamar Jackson went on to win Super Bowl MVP, he had a rough start to the Super Bowl when he got popped by Devin White and coughed up the football, 2 drives later the Ravens would get the ball back after Tom Brady was picked off by Chuck Clark to give the Ravens the ball in the red zone. Soon After Jackson threw an interception to Devin White who forced his second turnover. The Bucs took advantage of that one and found the end zone. After a pair of field goals by Tucker the Ravens drove down the field and JK Dobbins broke free on a 23 yard Touchdown run making it 13-7. The Ravens were able to kick another FG making it 16-7 going into halftime and getting ball. The first point of the 2nd half came from a Gus Edwards goal line TD to make it 16-14. Brady and Jackson were going back and forth trading touchdowns until it was 33-28 with 2:44 left, when Brady led his go ahead drive then Tucker made the game winner. Jackson finished with 357 passing yards and 2 TOT TDs.
Here's what HC Uzumaki had to say after his 3rd Super Bowl victory, "It feels great, it was a long season and definitley an up and down postseason. First off I want to say hell of a game to Coach Goonsquad, that one was a battle fore sure. Anytime a Super Bowl comes down to the very last play it's going to be a lot of heartbreak on one side, but I'm glad we aren't on that side. When you got a quarterback like Lamar who can make those kind of throws, especially in a cluch situation like that you just have to be grateful he's on your team. Those are the type of throws that very few guys in the game can make. Looking back on the season I'm proud of what we were able to accomplish getting that 1 seed first round bye and finishing the job. The development we've made as a team has me excited moving forward, young guys like Duvernay, JK, Reed Blankenship, and Patrick Queen really stepped up this year and made themselves leaders. We have a lot to be excited about moving forward but we also have a lot to improve on. Hopefully this offseason we can get even better and try to make a run at it next year too. Until then we're gonna enjoy this one."
