Finishing at 13-3, the Baltimore Ravens are currently sitting at the 5 seed and will be heading into Foxborough to take on the New England Patriots. As familiar that this matchup may seem in the AFC playoffs in years past, these are drastically different teams. Legendary Patriots QB Tom Brady is no longer at the helm of this team as Cam Newton led the Patriots to an AFC East division title with only 6 wins right now.
The Ravens look a lot different now too, after the Ravens defeated the Bengals 58-21 in week 17 we caught up with Coach Uzumaki to ask him some questions about this year.
Reporter: “Overall, how do you think the team performed this season? Are you satisfied with how everything turned out?”
Uzumaki: “I’m very proud of what we were able to accomplish this season but we still ended up taking 2nd place in our division which is a little disappointing, but what is in the past is in the past. Right now our focus is on New england and advancing past the wildcard round.”
Reporter: “The Patriots are the clear underdogs in this matchup, they’re winning their division right now with only 6 wins. Does this put any extra pressure on your team to make sure you win this game. Especially considering you’re traveling to their home stadium?”
Uzumaki: “You never go into a matchup underestimating your opponent, especially in a SFL playoff game. Anything can happen, we’re going to prepare how we do every week and look to execute and play our best team football.”
Reporter: “Who do you think stood out for you the most this year?”
Uzumaki: “Some of the younger guys really surprised me like Patrick Queen, he’s becoming a great young leader for this defense already he’s always working hard, always first guy in and last to leave, I even caught him watching film by himself in the facility 2 hours after practice had ended and everyone went home. He’s been a huge part of our defense this year. A lot of guys are playing at a high level on our defense this year, Marlon Hunmphrey, Marcus Peters, Calias, they’ve all been a huge part of our wins this season. And on offense of course Lamar, he’s been great for us since day one, him, Hollywood, Andrews, and the rookies JK and Devin Duverney have been great this year. I’m ready to make a playoff run with my team.”
Reporter: “Okay that’s all I have for today thanks for your time, and good luck.”
Uzumaki: “Of course, thank you”
