Although the Carolina Panthers aren't quite done with making the necessary off-season moves, they've certainly capped off a very active week that involved moving back in the draft and acquiring a former pro bowl defensive end.
The first move came about when the Kansas City Chiefs came looking to relive some cap space in order to roster a full 53-man roster, in an effort to do that they dumped off a pair of second round picks, allowing Carolina to now select three times within the round, and moved up 11 spots to pick #12 while the Panthers' dropped back to 23.
Rumor has it that the Carolina Panthers have interest in Oklahoma QB Jalen Hurts to replace Cam Newton come season's end.
Going into the off-season GM/HC Jordan Charles had one thing in mind, and that was to bolster their defense, more specifically their pass rush attack. Carolina lost the luxury of having both Kawaan Short and Gerald McCoy to control the interior , so they'll look for Short to step up big this year.
In an effort to give Kawaan some help alongside third-year man Brian Burns the Panthers' brought in former pro-bowler and Columbus Cap DE Melvin Ingram. The now 32-year old was able to rack up 15 sacks last season and the Panthers are hoping he'll be able to repeat his success within their system as the Panthers' ranked in the bottom five last season in defending the pass.
Carolina will look to complete their overhaul come Friday when the SFL draft beings at 8:15pm.
