Something happened that doesn't normally happen. The Falcons who are no strangers to trading from time-to-time decided to make probably the most expensive trade ever, even more expensive than the 2011 Julio Jones draft day trade. The Falcons initially had no plans to acquire the newly acquired Superstar QB Lamar Jackson, but after mulling it over for a couple of days and the Ravens front office actually coming back to speak to the Falcons front office, they knew that they had to pull the trigger.
A talent like this doesn't come around much at all. It's definitely brought much excitement to the fanbase. People haven't been this excited since the DVD offense was in Atlanta roughly 15 years ago. Lamar, FanDuel Freeman, Julio and Ridley should have coordinators losing their minds on how to defend the Falcons. Ironically, the Offensive Coordinator has stated he isn't changing the offense at all. So what does that mean for Lamar? Is he gonna be asked to become a drop back QB? But the real question is: is he even staying?
There are now rumors that the Falcons are planning on moving a Superstar Quarterback. But if so, what was the point of acquiring Lamar in the first place? If one isn't changing the offense to feature Lamar, then what exactly are the people in Flowery Branch doing? Is there even a plan there. Regardless of what happens, this should be an interesting season.
