The Carolina Panthers found themselves at home once again when it came to post-season time within the SFL and following a Super Bowl victory by the Washington Redskins they did not waste time in regards to getting their off-season plans started.
Veteran QB Cam Newton is coming off of one of his worst seasons to date, tossing 17 touchdowns to go with 27 interceptions. The Auburn product is however the teams' best option in regards to the bodies within the quarterback room that only consisted of Will Grier by his side and the Panthers' seemed to echo that statement this afternoon.
Newton was uncertain if he wanted to continue his career in Carolina, as the quarterback market would be massive yet again this off-season, the Panthers and Newton could not come to an agreement and head coach Jordan Charles pushed for his GM to use their tag on the 32 year-old signal caller.
"We need him here to get back to our winning ways," said Charles "Our offense runs through him and we need to find some common ground to keep him on board moving forward."
The Panthers are now all-in with Newton, owing him 34.8M this season where they'll have to decide if they'll extend him or find a replacement to groom as the season goes on.
