In the opening week of the SFL season the Arizona Cardinals welcomed the Detroit Lions. Just a year ago Head Coach Justyn Byrd left the Philadelphia Eagles after winning his first championship of his coaching career with the team, no one is exactly sure why Coach Byrd left the city after birthing a championship but rumors came out this past summer that Byrd wanted more control over things happenong in the front office but was not granted his wish. GM Howie Roseman and Byrd got into a heated argument at the Eagles facility which ended in Byrd calling Roseman a "cracker" and after that all relationships with Philly were tarnished. Byrd refused to speak on the reports when asked. Now Coach Byrd has packed his bags and settled on the opposite side of the country in the desert, Byrd did say a reason for coming to Arizona was the teams new rookie QB, Kyler Murray. Murray was taken with the 1st overall pick in the 2019 Draft and he lived up to the hype on sunday. Murray went 15-20 with 376 yards and threw 6 TDs. Murray found his star recieving back David Johnson for 6 catches , 106 yards and 3 TDs. Rookie WR Andy Isabella had 3 catches 133 yards and a touchdown in his debut. Arizona's young core showed a promising showcase in their first game blowing the Lions out 42-14. We caught up with the Head Coach afterwards and he had this to say "We came out and executed everything we've been working on this offseason, I'm glad I joined an organization with players that have so much grit. We still have things to work on and we're gonna be taking things one week at a time." The Cardinals will travel to Baltimore next week.
