The Los Angeles Rams disappointed fans around the globe when they finished their 2019-2020 campaign with a below stellar record while missing a shot at the post-season with some late regular season losses. They were determined to right the ship heading into 2020 and it all began with coach Jordan Charles overhauling the defensive scheme.
'We feel more like ourselves again out there on the field," said Charles when asked about what this change has done to the chemistry. "Guys had a long summer to get acclimated with things and mentally learn their new positions, they've all taken it to the next level on the field so far."
The change to a 4-3 scheme had the likes of Michael Brockers, Johnnie Bars, Lamarcus Joyner and rookie Craig Fletcher shaking things up. As it stands, the Rams hold the best record in the NFC West at 3-1, with wins over the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers thus far.
The brightest spot of all in Coach Charles' mind has been the resurgence of defensive back, Marcus Peters. "Marcus just looks like a new animal and the same beast to put it lightly," said Charles. "The work up front is putting him in solid positions to succeed."
Los Angeles' offensive attack has also held it's own for the most part. Quarterback Jared Goff isn't playing up to par, but his running mate Todd Gurley is doing all he can to help win ball games. Recoridng 488 yards in 4 games and finding the end-zone a total of 6 times. The Georgia product isn't taking a day off as he was spotted in the gym as the bye-week began.
"We're on our no days off-ish," said Gurley with a massive grin. "When you're in a position to be great, we gotta keep a groove like this, go out, win ball games and show the league that we're not f***ing around."
