New York Giants 2020 Roster Breakdown
Welcome to an inside look at the New York Football Giants 2020 season. Coming off a disappointing 6-10 campaign the Giants went into the offseason looking to address the QB and DB positions. They did just that by bringing in FA Nick Foles and Tashaun Gipson. Both of those players were cut midway through the preseason due to poor play in both training camp and preseason games. The Giants have gone with a youth movement by drafting safety Patric Golden out of Nebraska. Where he lacks speed, he excels in stopping the run. At QB they’re going with 3rd year QB Kyle Lauletta, who earned his starting job last season and has held it throughout the offseason. He posted a respectable 3215/22/15 in 11 games played.
OFFENSIVLEY
The offense lives and dies through standout running back Saquon Barkley and it is no secret. His biggest struggle has been staying healthy and not to mention the offensive line is still a work in progress. Word around camp is that Saquon looks stronger and faster than ever which is a scary thing to hear for teams around the league. The forgotten man in the mix has been Odell Beckham Jr, he had an injury riddled 2019 but he is only two years removed from 79/1563/11 in 2018. If he can stay on the field the Giants could cause some problems on offense. They could be a dark horse to make a playoff push.
DEFENSIVELY
The Giants have their superstar defensive player in Landon Collins. He and Alec Ogletree carry the team in tackles and turnovers. They struggled to get after the QB in 2019 but are keeping the same group around as they had a successful 2018 season getting after the QB. They brought in a whole slew of cornerbacks to help minimize the deep passes they were giving up in 2019. Things seem to be looking up for the Giants with an easy schedule to start the year. With Washington Dallas and Philadelphia all representing the NFC east in the playoffs the last 2 seasons the Giants will look to leave their mark on the 2020 season. This all rides on the offense.
