I've decided to break this into two parts this go around and below I go through the first fifteen picks. Skill positions will reign early in this draft.
Pick: LE Sean French, LSU. The Panthers were the worse run defense in the league last year. Their edges need some infused talent to prevent teams from getting to the perimeter.
Pick: LE Dosha McBath, UCLA – The Lions currently have no LE on the roster and McBath is a special talent at the position.
CB Derrick Heyward, Oregon. After Griffin the Seahawks could use a really solid mainstay at CB and Heyward is that guy. He’ll make sure no WR’s get over the top with his 4.33 speed.
Pick:QB Daniel Spear, Texas A&M. The Steelers drafted in this exact same spot last season. Is Mason Rudolph ready and can he handle the rigors of the SFL or does the team opt to bring in someone else? The smart move would be to roll with Rudolph and build the OL. But hey, this is the Steelers so we will see.
QB Earl Elliot, Clemson. Like the Steelers, the Titans are drafting in the exact same spot as last season. And just like the Steelers, they both lost their starting signal callers to Free Agency.
CB Francis Barton, Michigan State. With Raashan Melvin dropping to an 88 speed and McDonald being a difficult player to upgrade, I see Barton as a player of value and need for the Raiders.
Jah is going fat. The team needs a blindside protector at LT. Domonic Pope, Michigan State.
Pick: FS J.D. Legursky, Clemson. The Jags really need to restock the pantry in the middle of their defense. They have needs at DT and at Safety. They take the Safety here.
Pick: LOLB Noah Lay, LSU. The Bengals could use some talent to go along with speed and athleticism at outside linebacker. They have speed with Jordan Evans at ROLB but he's not very talented and does not have a real nose for the game, especially in pass coverage. Preston Brown is slow as molasses at the LOLB spot. Lay can come in and start immediately and be an every down linebacker for the Bengals.
Pick: Maudrecus Lindsey LT, Maryland. Sam Darnold is in desperate need of a protection program.
Pick: WR John Hundley, Texas A& M. The Broncos could use another big body WR on the perimeter to force teams to play big boy football. Last year they drafted their QB of the future in round 1, now with Sutton and Hundley as big targets on the perimeter, Dodge has no reason to not succeed.
Pick: FS Armani Patrick, Oregon. The Giants add a needed presence in their secondary as Patrick will team up with Collins to wreck offenses.
Pick: SS Sefa Stephens, Notre Dame. The Vikings replace Harrison Smith in the secondary with Stephens, who will be an All-Star.
Pick: WR Howard Barrett Ohio State. The Ravens need to protect Lamar Jackson but he also needs some better weapons on the perimeter. Crabtree has TE speed at this point. The team let Snead go to FA. Jordan Matthews cannot be the best you throw out there at WR. Roger Lewis Jr., is just OK.
Pick: LT B.J Farley. This roster is atrocious on the front line. Needs from LG all the way to RT. Farley can come in and start at RT immediately because there is no one else.
Pick: FS Ephraim Richards, Penn State. You can never have too many talented defensive backs in the NFC South, home of the SFL champs. The Bucs add Richards allowing them to play 3 Safety looks to match up with the Falcons WR’s and maintain some weight to help stop the run.
