Bucs ink Winston to long-term deal

Following their Week 5 victory agsint the Lions, the Buccanneers signed quarterback Jameis Winston to a 5 year, $73.3 million dollar deal. Winston hasn't exactly lit the league on fire since being drafted #1 overall in the 2015, but he seems to have turned a corner here in 2019. He has gotten off to a hot start this season, completeing 63% of his passes while throwing for 16 TDs and running for another 2. The turnover numbers aren't exactly where head coach Ed Hernandez would like them to be, currently sitting at 8 Ints. Hernandez called on Winston to step up his game following the injures to both starting running backs, and he has taken care of business thus far, leading the team to 4 victories. The Bucs head into their bye week looking to heal up, while they look ahead at a schedule consisting of many formattable opponents. Only time will tell if Winston can prove he was worth signing, as he will look to continue his impressive season and potentially carry the Buccanneers into the playoffs and beyond.
