The Los Angeles Rams' season was cut short when they fell to the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round of the 2018 season. Tonight they look to bring in the new wave of Rams, who will come together with one common goal, to bring a Super Bowl to the people of Los Angeles.
There are holes throughout this offensive line, and their defensive front seven could use some help, but can the Rams find the pieces they need?
Here's how their draft went down:
Round 1 - LT - Corlus Carlson - 6'6" - 308lbs - Syracuse
Carlson comes out of Syrcause a little on the lighter side, but he comes into Los Angeles a starter. He may be asked to shift over to the right side of the line, but there's a chance he stays put as the blind side blocker. The Rams will have to do some shuffling to get Carlson in as an every day starter and a big piece to this franchise.
Round 3 - LG - Griffin Popinga - 6'3" - 318lbs - Oregon State
The Rams looked to sure up their offensive line with a little bit of depth here at offensive guard. Poppinga is a very agile lineman who can come in and play in a pinch, but will likely find himself on the second team while he learns the ropes behind players like Roger Saffold and Andrew Whitworth.
Round 3 - ROLB - Johnnie Bars - 6'5" - 262lbs - Iowa State
Bars comes with a lot of upside out of Iowa State, mainly used as a Pass Rusher in college, he'll likely play the same role here in Los Angeles. He'll come in and look to carve himself out a place within the rotation of the front seven, look for this kid to challenge Micah Kiser and Samson Ebukam for snaps as training camp begins.
Round 3 - HB - Leonard Alexander - 6'0" - 200lbs - Illinois
A solid running back out of Illinois, Alexander finds himself in somehwat of a different situation. He may be used to getting the bulk of the carries in college, but he'll find himself in the back seat behind one of the most talented backs in the league. Los Angeles will likely used Alexander as their first spell back out of the gate, but he could find himself in some sets alongside Gurley shortly after.
Round 4 - C - Zach Rollins - 6'1" - 292lbs - Texas
The Rams will likely have Rollins in as someone who can shift around the offensive line and fill in as needed, he did some of the same in College, slotting in as a Left Guard mainly. Entering the draft at a weaker Centre position certainly upped his draft stock.
Round 5 - MLB - Armand Ellis - 6'3" - 243lbs - Southern Illinois
Ellis will likely come into camp third on the depth chart when it comes to the ILB position. It will be tough for him to make the roster with the likes of Mark Barron and Manti Te'o ahead of him.
Round 6 - LT - Quinn Carnahan - 6'5" - 317lbs - Arkansas
To finish out the night, the Rams selected Quinn Carnahan in order to provide some insurance behind their 1st round selection. He's a solid pass protector, but likely won't see the field much if Carlson can help it.
