It was not a great day for rookie signal callers as the Bills hit the field at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. Josh Allen had a mediocre performance throwing 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions. He got dropped once by Anthony Levine but other than that, the Bills pass protection held up nicely. After halftime, the Bills offensive coordinator decided that the team needed to be put on the back of Shady McCoy, who carried the team to the win with 115 rushing yards and 1 TD.
Beyond that, it was all defense for the Bills as they wanted to get after rookie QB Lamar Jackson early and often.
Rookie Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds notched his first INT of the first series of the game setting up the offense for a FG.
The pass rush came through for the Bills as the team designed a specific pressure scheme for Jackson. Jerry Hughes led the way with 2 QB Tackles.
Old man LORAX also contributed to the QB tackle sheet as the team kept flustering Jackson to try to keep him in check.
Safety Jordan Poyer was the second player to pick of Jackson to keep the Ravens offense grounded.
Micah Hyde also played a key role in frustrating Jackson picking off this pass intended for rookie TE sensation Haden Hurst.
Trent Murphy also contributed to the QB tackle total late in the game.
The team finished with 6 QB tackles and 4 INT's. They have another test this week as the face Phillip Rivers and the Chargers. One player who is not on the stat sheet is Tre White. He was never targeted. The offense hopes to get the car out of the garage against very tough Chargers defense.
