The NFC South has been described as one of the most competetive divisions in football for the past few years, but with some owners moving on from this division who's to say that will remain the norm?
SFL owner Q, the Atlanta Falcons, is the only remaing owner from last cyle, so this could give him an advantage or disadvantage if this new talent takes time to unwrap for this SFL vet.
Atlanta Falcons (Q)
The Falcons are always a heavy favourite when it comes to claiming a championship year in and year out, but an even heavier favourite when it comes to sitting atop the South. I believe the last person to challenge him and succeed in dethroning him in the regular season was myself back in Madden 17.
Qs teams seem to hit a point in the season where they're on auto-pilot and nothing can go wrong no matter how hard he may try, there isn't much to say here.
This SFL vet will take the reigns of the South for years to come. but he won't go without his fair share of challenges coming out of this division.
Prediction: 14-2
New Orleans Saints (Julian)
Roster wise this team looks poised and ready to win a SFL championship, they have one of the best quarterbacks this game has seen under centre, a blossoming running back in Alvin Kamara and a top tier target in Michael Thomas.
Defensively this team has the pieces to make a run as well, but the issue lies within the management in New Orleans. Julian had a rough start to the cycle last year, but picked it up heading into the latter half, making a pair of post season appearances.
He hasn't faced the likes of an owner like Q consistanly, but this could be the driving force he needs to take the next step. I expect this team to be competitive no doubt about it.
Prediction: 9-7
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Ed)
This Tampa Bay team is a very tough team to break down to say the least. They have talent sprinkled throughout this roster and a very good owner to go with it, but stick skills aside, will it be enough to compete?
Jameis Winston is not developing at the speed that would have him considered to be championship material and this team seems to be in the middle of a rebuild.
Last cycle Ed was able to find success in Arizona after a few seasons and I feel like he finds himself in the very same situation here to kick off Madden 19.
Prediction: 5-11
Carolina Panthers (Robb)
The Panthers have also found themselves under new management with myself out and Robb in at the helm. Robb reminds me of myself in a way, confident when facing any challenge and looking to be one of those top dogs.
This squad gives him the pieces to truly establish that, the offense is set for seasons to come as long as Cam Newton doesn't take a step back as he ages, and although this defense could use a face lift it's still solid to boot.
I expect this division to make a lot of noise and have a shot at producing 2 wild card teams out of the gate, depending on if anyone in the NFCE makes some unexpected noise.
Prediction: 9-7
