QB: Josh Allen
In the 2018 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills traded from #12 to #7 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and selected QB Josh Allen, Wyoming. I was hoping for Rosen, yet had a sneaky suspicion Allen would be the Bills pick. I've already created him in another franchise. Allen will have a strong arm in Madden, although that will not be on display because of the way the game is made.
The good thing about having Allen or any other rookie QB for that matter is the team will not have to worry about the log-jam of grabbing a franchise signal caller. When you are competitive it is difficult to tank and get yourself in a draft range to get a franchise QB, especially if the game only generates one of those type players for multiple offseasons.
Developing Allen is going to be a chore, but this will get looked at extensively once the game drops on EA Access. A plan is already being developed for Allen at this stage because there's not going to be a great deal of talent around him on the Bills roster. The other issue that Allen and the coaching staff will have is one of the best ways to progress him will be through weekly awards and yearly awards and given the team philosophy this is going to be a tough task with Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold both in the AFC and both most likely gunning for Offensive Rookie of the year. The Browns certainly have better weapons around Mayfield than Allen does in Buffalo. The Jets also have better pieces around Darnold in comparison. Robby Anderson and Terrell Pryor give the Gang Green offense height on the perimeter with Jermaine Kearse and Quincy Enuwa bringing toughness to the slot position. Allen will have his work cut out for him against Mayfield and Darnold.
Kelvin Benjamin will be the best WR on the Bills roster. However, if the last roster update is any indication, he's not an ideal perimeter WR for coach LBzrule. The coach sees Benjamin more as a TE than a WR and would prefer some speed on the perimeter. The Bills will still have Zay Jones and a host of developmental players that can be developed.
Luckily, the Bills will have all of their picks in the very first SFL draft. This should help put some talent around Allen as well as address some other needs. Season 1 may be painful in Buffalo but there's time to work some things out. Looking at this on the bright side, it will not be as frustrating as searching for a franchise signal-caller.
