Carolina came out of their 2019 campaign with a NFC Championship berth, but were unable to defeat the Atlanta Falcons to book their ticket to the Super Bowl.
The goal is simple for this squad headed into 2020, its Super Bowl or bust, they can't take a step back and the season begins for them today as we enter the SFL Draft.
Round 1 - C - Kejuan Meadows - Miami - 6'2 - 296lbs - 23
Meadows will come in and possibly make a difference from day one, he can challenge Matt Kalil for the starting job on the left side of the line although he did play Centre during his college years. The Miami product can provide top not protection when it comes to the rushing and pashing attack.
Round 2 - TE - Antonio Poujade - Florida - 6'6 - 252lbs - 22
Poujade will join the efforts to replace the ever productive Greg Olsen with Trey Colvin ahead of him on the depth chart. He will get snaps here and there this season with his solid pass catching ability, and with Olsen fighting the clock he'll likely subside snaps to this Florida man.
Round 3 - CB - Glenn Burton - Maine - 6'2 - 185lbs - 22
This 22-year old will play a decent role in this Panthers offense when it comes to bigger personnels. His 6'2 frame gives Carolina another option when defending taller receivers and tight ends, but he'll need some work before he hits the field consistently.
Round 4 - SS - Kelo Griffith - Georgia - 6'0 - 208lbs - 23
Secondary has been a shaky department in Carolina for some time now and Griffith could shine a glimmer of hope on revamping that core. He comes in with some middle of the pack speed and coverage ability, but packs a punch when it comes to his hit power.
Round 4 - HB - Aleon Rich - Toldeo - 6'1 - 212lbs - 23
Coming from a small program like Toledo, Rich will have to earn any touches he gets in this logjammed backfield in Carolina. He could make his mark on special teams to begin with, but won't get any significant touches if he does crack a roster spot going into 2020.
Round 5 - FS - Jarrell Bowie - West Virginia - 6'0 - 203lbs - 22
This kid will come in and make a splash in this secondary once he is called upon in training camp. He has some top notch speed at the safety position and raw talent coming in at the young age of 22. He likely won't start at the beginning of this year, but he can press Mullins and Berry for a starting job come 2021.
Round 5 - QB - Brady Richie - Arizona - 6'0 - 222lbs - 21
Richie comes in and will get to learn under veteran signal caller Cam Newton and the Panthers hope he can pick up the speed of the NFL and the playbook quickly as Newton is playing for a contract in 2020. Carolina may have to rely on Richie to be the man under centre if Newton doesn't perform or they cannot get a contract drawn up.
Round 6 - MLB - Eric Pierce - Georgia - 6'1 - 239lbs - 22
Pierce will likely serve as a depth player within this system, but he has the skills to be a solid linebacker in this league, he just needs to get his head into his playbook and work on his mental ability.
Round 7 - WR - Jarvaris Joseph - Maryland - 6'1 - 222lbs - 23
Joseph will likely be a return man if he makes the cut.
