As we head towards the finale of the 3rd season here in the SFL, I've taken time to just sit back and assess many things that have gone right as well as things that haven't gone so right. With that being said, just wanted to make it known what my train of thought was heading into the future.
As a whole, this has truly been a good cycle. Probably one of the better ones due to a lack of BS. However, let's all work forward to ensure that this remains the case. I've taken note extensively on the owners who are just "existing" so to speak. I'm also paying attention to the others who are in the midst of the grind every day. I salute you guys. Shouts out to Crim for bringing back the "Pick 'Em" articles back as I felt they were long over due. I initially declined to do them thinking that it'd be good for other owners who wasn't doing as much to get some sort of credit heading into the offseason or the active list.
I've paid attention to the articles that seem to have taken time to cultivate or were just really a great read. I've enjoyed the photos and GIFs inserted into these articles also, that was dope as hell. I was very serious when saying that I was seriously contemplating dismantling what was known as the MUT East for a few reasons. As I expressed before, the overall activity in that division was well as the gameplay and scheduling complaints are too much to ignore.
Initially it was about having fun and to be honest, I realized that once people had gotten their favorite team, they were inclined to do even more because you'd be more immersed in the overall product. I've learned that this was once the case, but it doesn't look like it anymore. I've seen all of the Twitter accounts go dead as well as the radio shows. This isn't a shot at said people, I'm just letting it be known that I have been watching everything that goes on.
I want to reiterate once more that this is a simulation football league. It should be about having fun. It should never be about padding stats and winning awards. Yes, winning is great and losing should be a lesson but you shouldn't devote yourself to achieving these by any means necessary. It simply isn't worth it. More times than not, you'll find yourselves on the outside looking in. Whether that be suspension, being put on auto or even being booted. It simply isn't worth it. I'm not sure exactly how many leagues allow some of the freedoms that we do in the SIM culture, but it can't be many.
Hopefully from here we can grow together as a league and become something that other leagues can truly emulate. As I look around at other leagues on this site (especially the top ones), it's amazing to see how dedicated the owners are. How the entire league forms a community and all work together to put forth the best product available. I would like this to be the case for the SFL.There will be team shuffling in the next Madden. It's almost inevitable at this point. I do think I'll see a lot of posts as the season concludes. Some will be purposely designed to make the active list and some will be great content for the league as a whole.
I've enjoyed working with the set of admins we have for this particular cycle. No, we all haven't agreed and we all don't always see eye to eye, but I'd like to think that it's all because everyone wants to put their best foot foward for the league. The draft calculator was introduced and that made things easier for the time being. But in the future, we'll be looking forward to trying to find new ways to make the league even better than it is now. Whether that's with finding new people who want to do more or the existing owners doing all they can to make this fun for everyone. Let's continue to strive to make the league better than it's ever been.
