The Cincinnati Bengals are red hot, going 8-2 in the first 10 games of the season. Cincy’s only two losses coming from a 31-24 loss to the jets and a loss in overtime to the Miami Dolphins. We caught up with Coach Byrd at the Bengals facilities Tuesday and asked him how he felt about this season and here’s what he had to say, “I wouldn’t say I’m exactly surprised by how we’re playing right now, I knew we could always play at this level it’s just a matter of whether we could execute or not. Mixon’s playing great, the young guys on the defense like Bellanca and Grant are playing unbelievably, Hayward was a great addition to the defense just like we thought he’d be. Andy’s been playing the best I’ve ever seen from him although he’s gonna miss at least 2 more games there’s no doubt that Savage isn’t gonna bring his A game, we’re confident in him.” We asked Byrd what his expectations for the rest of the season are, “Well you know we obviously wanna keep that 2 seed we have so we could get a bye, maybe get up to 1. But overall we’re going after the Lombardi, but we’re gonna take it one game at a time right now.”
