The Buffalo Bills offense and defense through the bye week focused on fundamentals and clock control. Offensively the focus is no longer on trying to light up the scoreboard. The emphasis has been placed on efficiency. Defensively the Bills want their players to win more 1 v 1 battles up front. All of this showed up in the game against the Chiefs.
On the first drive of the game the Chiefs marched down the field on three big plays but Shaq Lawson showed up in the redzone and forced a fumble on 2nd year QB Patrick Mahomes.
The fumble was recovered by rookie defensive lineman Ikeem Ives.
On the next drive, Mahomes took a deep shot but Jordan Poyer was there to intercept the deep pass.
Shaq Lawson had his best game of the season. ON the next drive he dropped Mahomes for his 2nd QB Tackle.
Late in the 3rd, Micah Hyde Picked off a Mahomes pass to the sideline.
Got a step on the offense.
Juked the last threat.
And walked into the end zone for a score.
Early in the 4th, Hyde picked off another Mahomes pass.
Juked the first offensive player.
And ran down the sideline for his second score to put the game way out of reach.
It wasn't much of a game for the Bills offense. They were balanced, efficient. The team only passed for 192 yards and rushed for 137. The only turnover was by FB Patrick DiMarco.
