The Seahawks suffered their first loss week 4, coming up short in OT against an upstart Bears squad. Turnovers proved to be the deciding factor in this one. Seattle was up 28-24 in the 4th quarter when Russell Wilson threw an ill-timed interception that was returned for a touchdown, putting Chicago up by 3. After driving all the way down the field, Seattle had to settle for a field goal and overtime after RB CJ Prosise was tackled just shy of the first down marker. After winning the toss, Seattle started what looked to be a promising drive until rookie TE Hunter Bryant coughed up the football, putting Chicago in field goal range. Seattle went on to lose 34-31. “It was a game I felt we should have won” head coach Shawn Springs said “but you have to give credit to our opponent. We made some mistakes and they capitalized.”
Seattle then travelled crossed country to face off against another NFC North foe, the Detroit Lions. After allowing 30+ points to Chicago, the Seahawks defense were on a mission, picking off Matt Stafford 5 times (a 6th was called reversed by a roughing the passer penalty), including Earl Thomas league leading 6th interception. The Seattle offense had another strong day, as Russell Wilson threw for 378 yards and 2 scores. Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett hauled in 7 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown. Thomas Rawls had difficulty finding running lanes, but made up for it by adding 8 grabs for 74 yards.
Seattle leads the NFC West at 4-1. Their gauntlet of NFC North teams continues next week as they face off against the Minnesota Vikings.
