The Arizona Cardinals have shocked the SFL fan base by recently hiring rookie head coach Ed Hernandez. In his debut game against the Minnesota Vikings, Hernandez made it clear that he was going to establish the running game. The Cardinals pounded the rock with David Johnson early and often against a tough Minnesota front seven. Johnson carried the ball 31 times for 164 yard and reached the end zone 3 times. Rookie quarterback Devrin Gholston missed a few throws and threw 2 early interceptions, but quickly established himself in the pocket and made multiple crucial 3rd down throws to move the chains. His stats won't jump off the page, but this kid gets the job done when his team needs him the most. Tough play but the Cardinals defense late in the game helped lead the Cards to their 2nd win of the season, and their first in the Hernandez era with a 31-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Although spirts are high in the desert now, the Cards face the most grueling stretch of their schedule with their next 5 games coming away from home. With games coming against the Bucs, Broncos, and Packers and two pivotal division games against the Seahawks and Rams we will find out quickly if the Cards are for real as they hit the road...
